It would be greatly appreciated
By the way, please head over to the site / which is also on my profile to see the updated version of fanfiction. The site was not created by me nor fanfiction. Its interface is just really cool and convenient, and there are no issues with seeing updated chapters!
Poison
Summary: There was nothing like loving two monsters. One wanted nothing to do with her, and one wanted her, but couldn't have her. Or can he?
Pairing: Bella/Embry
When Bella met Embry, there was something special about him. He saw through her right away. He told her she had the balls to piss off a wolf, and the guts to date a vampire. He liked her spunk and fire, fighting for what she believed in, no matter good or bad. Dead or alive.
He was the easiest to befriend and made Bella's life a bit more simple. He invited her to pack gatherings, and after a while, she was like one of the guys. She spent most of her time with Embry when Jacob was out or busy, finding herself in his presence more times than she could count.
They'd spend nights gazing up at the stars, talking and laughing, and Bella realized that Embry didn't numb the pain like Jacob did. He made it go away. He brought back the Bella Swan that first arrived to Forks, the awkward, quirky girl that tripped over her own two feet. One that wasn't haunted by the monsters in the woods.
She found herself falling for him, and everyone could see it. Except for Embry. He was blind as a bat, or that's what they thought. He and Bella knew that they couldn't pursue a relationship with the prospect of imprinting becoming more of a reality.
Bella had fallen hard and didn't know how to pick herself back up.
Sam came to her one day, telling her a story. It started out beautiful. A love story. Until that love was ripped away from under his feet, and Bella realized she didn't want to end up that way. She wouldn't. So, she buried those feelings, and neither one of them brought it up.
It changed things though, and Bella started to try to find a life outside of her supernatural friends, but like she always believed, the human world was a place she didn't belong.
She strongly believed that Embry was where she belonged.
Until she wasn't.
Embry started avoiding her calls, and no one had the heart to tell her. No one could look her in the eyes and tell her that imprinting was stronger. Someone had to.
She saw the two of them on the beach one day, laughing and leaning against one another as if old friends. In their spot.
The picture was clear, and Bella backed away, going about her own life like Edward wanted. She went to school, graduated, and never looked back. The pack couldn't blame her, and to their surprise, Embry was more devastated than Jacob.
Five years later, just like the very first time, Bella threw everything on its axis when she returned. At just 24 she was a lawyer, and everyone wanted her to represent them. She lived in Los Angeles and visited every year or so.
The moment she stepped foot on LaPush soil, everything seemed to change. Ironically, Embry was the last wolf to imprint, and every time she showed up, Jacob tried wooing her over. It was clear to see though that Bella had never forgotten about Embry Call.
Their reunion was an awkward one, and Bella had to watch with feigned interest as Embry's imprint all but dangled over him. Bella was not lost to see the longing in his eyes and knew she was wrong for even thinking about him in any romantic light.
The boys were happy to see her, and she fit right on in like she used to.
She found herself looking through Billy's fridge for a beer when Embry emerged from what appeared to be shadows. Bella's heart raced when she saw him. He still looked the same. More defined. He was handsome.
She didn't have the time to speak, or even wanted to if she could because she found herself pushed against the fridge, hot lips planted against hers, a heavy hand on her waist, pulling her as close as she could get.
Breathless, she could only stare, wondering how what just happened was possible. It shouldn't have been. It didn't matter though because the damage was done. His brown eyes were dark with passion, want, and need. His teeth nipped against her porcelain skin, leaving small marks, and no matter how much Embry tried, he couldn't fight it.
He couldn't bring himself to do what he wanted most. Imprinting was poison to him. Bella was the antidote.
Yet, she couldn't cure the magic that was rooted deep in his veins.
He didn't have the power.
For once, in all her time of knowing him, he wore a shirt, and she fisted her hand in the light blue fabric, holding him to her. Their eyes met, and there were so many unspoken words.
With his forehead against hers, her closed his eyes, breathing heavily. "I can't fight it," He rasped, his hand fisting the back of her shirt.
"I won't ask you to," She whispered back in response, taking a quick glance towards the door. Bella could feel him shaking against her, and her heart ached. "Do you love her?" She asked, genuinely curious. His imprint's name was Amber. She was a cute girl, from Fork's, with green eyes and a freckled face. "I wouldn't date her if my life depended on it," He retorted.
Her brows furrowed at that. Why imprint on someone you can't stand? "You'll love her…" She started, swallowing the lump in her throat. "One day," She finished, running a hand through his hair.
He shook his head, his eyes opening. "I won't," He denied. Bella smiled sadly. "You will," She whispered.
He shook his head, a low growl emitting from his chest. Embry never once terrified her, but she could see the animal in his eyes, fighting. She pulled herself from his hold, giving him some space.
It was the wrong thing to do.
He watched her feet, and it was like something snapped inside. He wouldn't watch her leave again. He cornered her against the wall, his eyes no linger that mocha brown, but a deep, golden orange. She let out a squeak of surprise as he kissed her again, this time with more passion and vigor.
"Tell me to fight it…" He growled in her ear, no longer sounding human.
"What?" She whispered against his neck. "Tell me. To fight it. Fight the imprint. I can only hold off this feeling for so long. Let me have you," He whispered.
Bella had a choice. She could be selfish, or selfless.
Could she rip two people apart?
