July 21

I didn't see Koga for the rest of the day yesterday. I wasn't sure if he had gone home or what. All I knew was that I felt bad that our meeting yesterday had gone so terribly. Koga was my friend after all. I didn't want him to be mad at me or think I was mad at him.

Shortly after breakfast this morning I was sitting on the couch petting Nico while Inuyasha was cleaning up the kitchen after breakfast. The more my pregnancy went on, the more he hardly let me lift a finger. I offered to help but he insisted that I sit and relax.

Just as he was finishing up, there was a knock at the door. Inuyasha went to get it and when he saw that it was Koga, he immediately slammed it shut.

"Inuyasha!" I said. "Let him in."

Inuyasha sighed and opened the door again.

"Am I ever going to be able to come into your house without you slamming the damn door in my face first?!" Koga said in frustration.

Inuyasha crossed his arms. "That depends. Have you come to make my wife cry again?"

This time Koga looked guilty. "I actually came to apologize to her."

I got off the couch and went over to him. "You really mean that, Koga?"

"Yes, Kagome," he said gently. "I didn't mean to make you upset. You know I can't help but be a little protective of you sometimes. Can you ever forgive me?"

"Of course I do," I said. Koga may be high-strung and get riled up around Inuyasha but how could I ever not forgive him? "Wanna come in and hang out for a bit?"

So he did and we sat at the kitchen table talking. To my surprise, both he and Inuyasha were pretty calm today. Maybe it was for my sake, or maybe it was because they really didn't hate each other as much as they used to. I do remember how the two of them had kind of a bro moment when we went to help save the wolf tribe. As much as they would never admit it, maybe that moment hasn't quite worn off yet.

"When is the baby due?" Koga asked.

"Sometime in December," I replied.

"Between you and Sango and Miroku's kids, you guys are all gonna be running a daycare around here."

"Hurry up and have one with Ayame then you can bring the kid around here for a playdate," Inuyasha said.

Koga chuckled. "All in good time. Things are very busy for us running the wolf tribes. We'll get around to it. But anyway, I didn't tell you this yesterday but I'm happy for you."

"Really?"

"Yes! Geez, why are you gonna make me spell it out for you?" Koga said with a sigh. "Look, all those years Kagome was gone, every time I came by to visit you were always moping around all depressed and shit. He wouldn't even get mad at me, Kagome, no matter how much provoked him."

That last part made me giggle a bit.

"I missed Kagome too, of course, but you? It was like you were dead inside. So now that she's back and you've got a kid on the way and you don't look like you want to off yourself all the time, it's kinda nice to see."

A smile touched Inuyasha's face. "Well, having a new family will do that to a guy," he said as he held my hand. The way he looked at me made me blush. "I appreciate it, Koga."

"Once the baby comes, Uncle Koga will be around for it. I might even teach it some special wolf combat," he said thoughtfully.

"You're welcome to come and babysit whenever you want," I said.

I was happy that we were on good terms again and that Koga was excited about the baby too. I'm really glad our wolf friends will be around to get to know our baby.
