Summary: The night before her wedding, Bella heads to La Push to say goodbye. She didn't plan to stay.

Pairing: Bella/?

It happened when Jacob brought her around. The friendship blossomed slowly and was another one of the meaningful ones Bella had in her life. It was slow and sweet, and overall beautiful. It would soon be a distant memory, and Bella wanted to remember their friendship on a positive note.

The drive to LaPush was a quiet one, alone with her thoughts. Anxiety was creeping up on her big time, her heart thumping against her rip cage at an erratic pace. Her palms were sweaty, her eyes gazing into the dark road.

Guilt tore at her soul as she passed the 'Black' residence, ignoring the cry in her soul at the way her life seemed to push the people she loved the most away. She sighed, continuing forward until she saw the turn-off, turning down the gravel driveway.

The lights of her truck cast a light on the small home before shrouding the place in darkness. She turned off the engine, taking a deep breath before hopping out. It was a warm night, and it made Bella briefly reminisce about the summer just a few months ago.

She walked up the drive, taking a deep breath of the salty air. She'd miss this. She walked up the drive and readied herself. She watched her step closely as she walked up the 5 steps. The porch light blinked on, and Bella paused. She forgot about that.

She knocked softly on the door, stepping back a bit, holding her hands behind her back. She willed herself to calm down, taking in a deep breath. The door opened, and Bella smiled, seeing his lip turn up through the screen.

"Hey Em," She greeted softly. Embry opened the screen door, leaning against the door frame. "This is it?" He asked, reaching out a hand to run through one of her wavy strands. Bella nodded, frowning. "Hey," He soothed, smoothing her brow down. "I'll miss you," She admitted, wrapping him in a tight embrace. Embry wrapped his arms around her, laying his cheek against the top of her head. "You don't have to go," He whispered, looking out into the darkness.

Bella didn't say anything, just squeezing him in response. "Bella?" He asked, his strong arms tightening around her. "Yeah?" She asked, leaning back to look at him. Embry ran his thumb across her cheek, his brown eyes gazing into hers. "I just…I want you to know that if given the time, I could have loved you. The way you were meant to be. I do love you, and I think I always will," He admitted, looking down at her with nothing but adoration.

Bella's eyes watered with tears, and she pulled him closer to her, running her cheek along his chest. "It doesn't always have to be him. I would've never left you," Bella turned to gaze at the sky, watching the stars. "But he came back. Doesn't that mean something?" She asked curiously. Embry shrugged.

"It just means he was never there through it all," Bella hummed. "Embry?" She asked, glancing up at him. He glanced at her, the two now locked in a staring contest. "Please don't do it. Stay." He begged, pushing some hair behind her ear. "Please. I know this is where you belong. With me. You can have it all and lose nothing. Please Bella," He whispered, a frown on his face. Bella sighed, looking back at the sky. A shooting star passed across the dark blue sky, and Bella closed her eyes. "What are you thinking about?" He whispered. Bella bit her lip before looking back at him. "Kiss me." Embry didn't have to ask questions. He gently grabbed her face, pouring every ounce of love he could into that one kiss.

Bella pulled him close, her lips caressing his like a blanket, and she couldn't deny the sparks in that one kiss. It felt like nothing she ever experienced. Pulling away to breathe, she and Embry locked eyes, and Bella pulled him close once again, no ounce of regret leaving her body as he pulled her flush against him. "Stay," He mumbled against her lips. "Please," He pulled away, tears in his eyes.

Bella leaned her head on his chest, gripping his tight in his hands. "I love you too, I've always known that."
