Duke of York to marry Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria.

Following Parliament modifying the rules of succession allowing those who had converted from Roman Catholicism to hold any position in the Imperial Family as long as they are Anglican. The Duke of York currently the first in line to the Imperial Throne asked the Bavarian Princess to marry him at midnight on the 1st of November. She has accepted and preparations are being made for the marriage to be held in Westminster Abbey sometime next year. The government has also suggested that they are considering a way to finally put the Jacobite question to rest and are currently involved in negotiations with the German and Bavarian governments.

Far-right politics in Europe is very different to that in Africa, Asia, the Americas or even the United Empire. Due to the overwhelmingly conservative bent of that continent the far-right was paradoxically less popular as the monarchies represented a conservative but modernizing influence. This took a lot of energy out of the sails of the far-right who were reduced to a small presence in most countries with more often a single seat being held by the far-right. The far-right and far-left both rose in power following the Grand Recession with the KPD, and the German Union Party winning twenty seats combined the next election of 1969 pushed that down to five with three held by the German Union Party.

The far-right in Germany has a better chance then in the rest of Europe due to a core part of their message being pan-Germanism which is a highly popular view in most of Germany, parts of German Danubia, and a few enclaves across Germanic Europe. The far-right under Himmler managed to tie it to the highly-popular monarchy and their role in uniting the German Nation via Prussia. The idea of a pan-Germanic union was popular enough that the German government under Helmut Schmidt opened feelers to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland. The idea was rebuffed in most places save in Luxembourg where it was put to a referendum where 51.1% of the population supported the idea. Since Luxembourg had given up the duty of patrolling the French border to the Germans economic and military ties had steadily grown between the two nations and the support for continued growth outstripped that for independence. The narrow win for further ties with Germany led to Grand Duchess Charlotte requesting her government to open up talks with the German Empire on what form the further integration would take. But that is outside the scope of this work.

Heading east into Slavic lands the far-right is of a far more esoteric bent with a major belief being that there was a pre-Goa'uld Great Slavic civilization that the Goa'uld had crushed when they arrived on Earth. Despite the lack of evidence, it is a major tenant of the pan-Slavism of the Slavic far-right. Though not all of the far-right is pan-Slavic as the Eurasianism movement can attest. Led by one Lev Gumilyov the Eurasianism movement claims that Russia is more tightly bound to their vast holdings in Siberia, Central Asia, and the Caucasus then Europe. They are surprisingly popular in the more Turkic Kingdoms of the Empire with their claims of equality for all ethnicities allowing them to win several key seats. The Russian far-right has the largest presence in government by far holding forty out 480 seats every election and their high point of 1965 giving the assembled far-right parties a hundred seats.

Heading to the south in Latin Europe the far-right has taken on a very different form to the rest of Europe. In Portugal, Galicia, and Catalonia it is heavily focused around emphasizing their non-Spanish identity and their cultural heritage. In Portugal, a major factor is the remains of their colonial Empire with it being a massive point of pride esspicaly with both Portugal and Brazil being seen as great powers. Across the border in the Kingdom of Spain it is very different. The Carlist victory in the Spanish Collapse had thrown politics in the nation far to the right with Catholicism made the state religion and the Divine Right of Kings fully entrenched. Spain had effectively regressed to a political point that would not seem out of place following the Napoleonic Wars with a powerless Cortes Generales serving as a rubber stamp for King Xavier I and Carlos the then Prince of Asturias. In fact, the main divide in Spain for years was between the Prince of Asturias and his father on what rights the people should have. The Prince of Asturias discovered Monarcho-Socialism and believed that the right course for Spain lay in that direction compared to the autocracy his father ruled over. Following the death of his father he dragged the economy of Spain far to the left while culturally Spain is about as reactionary as can be. Across the Pyrenees in France the far-right is divided between the last few scattered racist nutjobs that supported the fallen Fifth Republic and the reactionary but not racist absolute monarchists that proved to be a bedrock of Free France.

The French far-right has been divided between race and culture since the rise and the subsequent fall of Fifth Republic with the far-right of Free France promoting the superiority of French culture and the unifying symbol of the French monarchy. The racial aspect of the Fifth Republic meant that a major focus was showing that anyone could be French which is why the French far-right has such a high level of diversity among their ranks. With the current leader of Action Française in the French Parliament Jacques Omar being of Somali heritage but still a virulent French monarchist and nationalist. The other side of the French far-right is despised by everyone often including themselves. They emphasize Republicanism and racism above French culture. The failure of Fifth Republic has alienated the vast majority of the French population away from racism with culture being seen as more important. The fervent anti-racist action of the entire French political scene has effectively eliminated the last scattered remains of the Fifth Republic.

Crossing the Alps into the birthplace of Latin Europe Italy was in a strange place with Mussolini's United Socialist Party resembling a far-right group rather than an orthodox Marxist party for most of their existence. Following the death of Mussolini, it went full on into the far-right claiming that they were fighting against hereditary reactionaries and bearing the banner of the revolution against the bourgeoisie democracy of the world. The only reason that they are still legally allowed to operate is because the Italian government needs a scapegoat every now and again they represent a perfect option to blame failures on. To be fair they do often sabotage government actions in their strongholds but not to the level that the government claims they do.
