August 11
I was in for a very pleasant surprise this evening.
I was at the kitchen counter chopping vegetables for dinner. Inuyasha sat at the table behind me telling me about how he was fighting a demon with Koga that afternoon.
"And then the damn thing had the nerve to still be alive even after I stabbed it," he said.
"I'm surprised you two actually worked together to fight it."
"Well both of us just happened to be around I guess. Koga is still a weakling but I guess he does well enough without those jewel shards he used for all of that time…"
All of a sudden, I felt a little nudge in my stomach and I gasped.
Inuyasha stopped talking and was by my side in a second. "What's the matter? Did you cut yourself?" He picked up my hands and examined them but there was no blood.
I shook my head slowly, still too shocked to say anything. For a moment I thought I had imagined the movement in my stomach but then I felt it again.
I still hadn't said anything and it was making Inuyasha panic even more. "Damn it, Kagome, what's wrong?"
Instead of telling him directly, I put his hand in my stomach. Sure enough, the baby moved again and Inuyasha gasped as well when he felt it. "That's…"
I nodded happily. "Yeah."
"It's actually…"
"Mm-hmm."
"Wow." He left his hand there as the baby moved a few more times. "This is amazing!"
"It sure is. This is the first time I've ever felt it move."
"Does it hurt?"
"Not at all. It feels nice."
Inuyasha was so fascinated by this that he kept his hands on my stomach the entire time I was making dinner. Each time the baby moved the two of us got really excited to the point where we were squealing so much that Nico looked kinda worried we had lost our minds.
Even as I sit here writing, I can feel the baby move every now and then. I had been starting to wonder when it would start kicking. I don't think I'll ever get tired of this feeling.
