August 12

I spent some time at Kaede's house this morning and had tea with her and Rin. I had been through the roof about feeling the baby moving for days at this point and I guess my excitement was clear on my face because Kaede commented on it.

"Kagome, you've had this wide smile on your face all morning. Has something interesting happened?" she asked curiously.

If I could smile more I would have. "The baby started moving a couple of days ago." Just as I said it, I felt another little nudge and put my hand on my stomach.

"Wow, really," Rin said. "That's so cool!"

"Inuyasha was amazed," I said, laughing a bit at the memory of that night.

Kaede laughed a bit as well. "I'm sure he was."

"Can I feel it, Kagome?" Rin asked.

"Of course."

She put her hand on my stomach and her eyes got wide with excitement when the baby kicked. "That's really cool."

We stayed at Kaede's house for a little while longer then I went home to do some work in the garden and Rin joined me. We sat on the ground planting some new vegetables, all the while Nico was nearby knelt down in the grass trying to catch a bug.

"You have the prettiest flowers," Rin said, glancing at the tulips and sunflowers next to us.

"I thought it would be nice to have a garden," I replied. "In my era, we had a garden but my grandpa usually took care of it. I was more of the type that killed every plant I touched."

"Well now your garden is really pretty," Rin said.

"It was something new that I decided to take on when I got here. If you want some flowers, go ahead and take some," I said, knowing how much she likes flowers.

She started to pick a few flowers. "Lord Sesshomaru likes sunflowers."

I detected a hint of sadness in her voice. It was obvious that despite our chat, Sesshomaru was still avoiding Rin. "I didn't know Sesshomaru likes flowers," I replied.

"I gave him a sunflower a long time ago when we were traveling together. He said it was beautiful and he kept it with him for a long time."

Sesshomaru never showed a sweet side like that. I guess Rin was the only one who could bring it out of him. "That's very nice."

"I miss him a lot," Rin said as she stared at the sunflower in her hand. Then she glanced at me. Her eyes were sparkling with tears. "Did you ever talk to him?"

"I did. I told him how you felt and that he should consider coming to see you. He misses you too. He really is doing this for your safety. He's terrified of something bad happening to you."

"Lord Sesshomaru has always been so kind to me. I understand if he doesn't want to see me anymore but...I really miss him."

I put my arms around her as she started to cry. I didn't know what to say to console her, I only wished that Sesshomaru would change his mind and come back into her life.

"Hey," Inuyasha said as he came into the yard. He spotted Rin crying and sat down next to us. "Why are you crying?" he asked as he patted Rin on the back to console her.

"Sesshomaru has been avoiding her," I explained.

"Seriously? Why?" Then he suddenly understood. "Does this have to do with the kidnapping?"

Rin nodded. "I haven't seen Lord Sesshomaru since then. He hasn't even written to me."

"Sesshomaru is such a stubborn…" He stopped himself before he said something rude in front of Rin.

"The last time I spoke to him, he said he was worried about her safety and doesn't want her to get caught up in anything else," I said.

"He could at least tell her that," Inuyasha replied. "I'll talk to him."

"You will?" Rin said.

"Sure, someone has to knock some sense into him."

"Thank you, Inuyasha...but don't actually hit him."

"I'll try my best."

I just hope Sesshomaru changes his mind. I hate to see Rin like this. She and Sesshomaru care about each other so much, I want them to finally get past this.
