August 15
This morning, Inuyasha was awake before me. When I started to open my eyes I found him lying next to me petting Nico who was sitting on his stomach.
"She's so beautiful, Nico," he said, not realizing that I was awake. "I never thought it was possible that she could be even more beautiful, but there's just something about her carrying my child that makes her even more stunning."
A sleepy smile spread across my face at his words. I'd never heard him say this before. Instead of letting him know that I was awake, I lay there silently as he went on.
"I never thought I would be so excited to have a baby on the way," he said. Nico meowed and Yasha chuckled. "Yeah, I mean, I never thought that I'd find such an amazing woman to share my life with in the first place."
I resisted the urge to laugh at how cute it was that he was having a full-blown conversation with Nico.
"I just hope I'll be good at taking care of the baby," he continued. "I try my best to take care of Kagome but sometimes I wonder if I'm really doing a good job."
"You are, honey," I finally said.
Inuyasha looked startled to see that I was awake. "How much of that did you hear?"
"I woke up when you were saying how beautiful I look pregnant." I laughed a bit at how much he was blushing and then I kissed his cheek. "I think it's very sweet."
"Well, all of it was true."
"I really appreciate it." I patted Nico's head. "And I appreciate you for keeping daddy entertained while I was asleep."
Nico meowed and then ran off to get in his bed.
"I guess he wants to give us some privacy," Inuyasha said as he put his arm around my waist.
"He's got perfect timing," I replied as I kissed him. From there, things got more intense and our morning became very fun.
The morning sex was so good that I could hardly walk right when Sango and I went to a tea shop later in the day.
"You look tired, Sango," I said while we were sitting inside with our tea.
"The kids have been a little cranky lately. It's been a lot of work," she replied.
"Any idea why?"
She shrugged. "They're just at that age. We've got three toddlers in the house so it's expected sometimes. I felt bad for leaving Miroku alone with them today but I just needed a break." She took a sip of her tea. "But anyway, I'm sorry I'm venting so much."
"Don't be sorry, that's what friends are for," I replied. "I guess being a parent isn't always easy."
"Not at all. Especially with the first one and we had twins so that made it harder. There were a few times where I wanted to cry as much as the babies were. At least you and Inuyasha have us to help you out. Miroku and I don't have any parents or anything so we pretty much had to figure everything out on our own."
"It must have been very difficult."
"It was but I wouldn't change it." She was now smiling. "For every time things get hard, there are ten other times where it's really rewarding."
"I'm really looking forward to it. The baby is moving around a lot now and it just makes me want to hold it even more."
"I remember that feeling very well. You're in the fun part of pregnancy now with all of the planning and excitement. By the final month, I was over it with all of the aches and pains. With the girls it was miserable." She sipped her tea again. "Are you having a baby shower?"
"We hadn't even thought of that."
Sango laughed. "You and Inuyasha get so caught up in the moment. It's a good thing you have us to remind you of things. You definitely need to have a baby shower. Plus, with everyone bringing you gifts it kind of eliminates half of what you'll need to get yourself."
"We were going to go to the market tomorrow to start getting things."
"Hold off on that until you have the baby shower. Then you'll know for sure what you need."
"Well, I guess we should start planning then. Want to help me?"
"I thought you'd never ask."
Sango was clearly very excited about planning the baby shower. We spent the rest of the afternoon talking about it. Now I have one extra thing to be excited about.
