Another Heist Part 7

Of the things Shego had expected that evening, a mechanical army and an angry tech villain had not come to mind. Her mind raced with the last time she had faced Protonia, and how it had ended up with a scrambled office and Drakken being overly dramatic from a misguided punch. She remained on guard, but Drakken... She looked at his calm demeanor and the confused look he gave her. He made a gesture with his head towards Shawna and then to Protonia. Shego lessened her stance, realizing that they were clearly in disguise, and Shawna was most likely the source of the dramatic entrance.

"Seriously, who's the dramatic stacked robot chick?" Motor Ed whispered. Shego watched Cleopatra's features go from alarmed at Protonia to narrowed eyes at Motor Ed.

Shego looked at Drakken and they both nodded.

"Tonight," they spoke in unison; a joint agreement of what was to come of Cleopatra's tomb threats.

"Good evening," came the metallic-sounding voice from Protonia's suit. "I'd say sorry for the imposition, but I was actually invited."

"How many things from your past are going to surface this evening?" whispered Shego.

"Well it's barely been three hours, so who knows," smirked Drakken. Shego glared at his calm demeanor. "What? I was only joking— Gah!"

A small string of lights shot between them. One of the robotic looking figures had its arm raised in their direction. It had only just dawned on Shego that Shawna was slowly moving her way backwards through the crowd directly behind Drakken, clearly where the blast had been aiming, but hitting the strange couture hat of the woman who'd been on the dance floor. In a burst of white light, the taxidermy skunk was gone.

"I said stun, not disintegrate," came the garbled metallic annoyance of Protonia. "That comes later."

"Yeah, we're out. Keep the money," yelped Pandora as she and Hermes darted between people.

"It's all yours," Hermes called through the crowd.

"Well, this seriously took a turn," scoffed Motor Ed. "Babe... How about we bail on the bracelet?"

"Good idea," said Cleopatra as everyone began to react with screams and running. "Definitely not worth a guinea."

"I was going to say let's snag a bot, but seriously... Let's ci-go," smirked Motor Ed. "Seriously, see what I did there?"

Drakken rolled his eyes as Shego looked at him for confirmation of what she had just heard.

"Charming," sighed Cleopatra as she sprinted through the crowd, Motor Ed behind her.

"Seriously! Or was that sarcastic?" was all that could be heard as they vanished in the chaos.

"I think we should bail too," said Shego as a series of yellow blasts came overhead.

"Agreed... One small thing— Shawna," called Drakken as he looked behind her.

A loud electrical noise rang through the entire ballroom, causing Shego to cover her ears. The sound of glass breaking could be heard right before the lights all shut off at once. The hysteria began, the metallic voice of Protonia yelling in anger, and the sound of her flanking robot beings moving in heavy footsteps aiding in the darkness's panic. Shego groped for where Drakken had stood next to her but found only air.

The sounds of yelling and movements around them in the darkness made it hard for Shego's eyes to adjust to the pinpoint of lights she needed. She felt what she hoped was Drakken's hand grab hers firmly. There were a few yells among them before she was pulled hard and nearly stumbled over a few people.

"Shoot a blast forward," she heard Drakken yell over the other noise, "now."

Shego did so without arguing, and before she could send the ignited light away from her hand, her concentration was broken. She was yanked down and felt something fly over her head. Things were being thrown. She concentrated the energy in her hand and glared into the darkness, some silhouettes becoming slightly more noticeable, but the gatherings of people making it hard to find a target. She yanked her hand from Drakken's and lit both her hands, the bursts of people she could see obscuring any clear shot at the robotic drones. She quickly killed the light, realizing she had only made she and Drakken an obvious target.

She shoved blindly, hoping she'd just gotten Drakken out of the way as something whizzed past them. She heard a groan behind them.

"Drakken," she hissed to the figure beside her.

There was no answer, but the hand finding hers again made her less worried by the groan she'd heard. Before she knew it, they were running, and the sound of the chaos was becoming distant. They'd cleared a hallway and she wondered if the place she'd blasted had been a blocked exit. She raised a brow at not having been able to see that, but Drakken had so easily instructed her aim... Aim she hadn't seen.

"This way," she heard Drakken whisper as they turned a corner.

"How do you know?" responded Shego. There was no answer.

She didn't know how long they'd been running, but a buzzing sound made her halt in her tracks.

The security lights finally kicked on and Shego yanked her hand from Drakken's, both confused and shocked by his skilled navigation of the escape from the ballroom through the darkness. She wondered if he'd actually read the floor plan she'd printed off...or if he'd discerned an escape route when he'd vanished twice that evening.

"How did...?" She trailed off as he smirked.

There was a light to Drakken's glasses, a slight shimmer that she hadn't noticed.

Shego yanked the glasses off Drakken and placed them on her face. She had to fight the eye-roll as she realized they had night-vision treatment, although the lenses hurt her eyes and were probably over-polarized if that was the case. But it was clear that Drakken had formed his own little back-up plan as well as planned to use his original plan she'd not agreed too. She glared as she handed his glasses back to him. His smug look faltered slightly at her expression.

"So, your goal this evening...was in fact to annoy me," sighed Shego, her arms crossing. "Despite it actually being needed...don't think I'm just over the fact you were going to do the plan I had specifically not been on board with."

"Yes, but..." Shego watched his facial expression shift between emotions before settling on defeat, "At least we got the ring and had an interesting evening?"

"I suppose," shrugged Shego. She looked at the ring in Drakken's hand. "You do know she was going to just...give that to you, right?"

"What?" Drakken's eyes shot open.

"Uh, yeah... Honestly had Protonia not busted in...she would have just handed the ring over to you and batted her eyelashes." Shego smirked. "I mean, I did enjoy the chaos if I'm being honest."

"Hmm, well now I'm a little regretful that I tipped off Protonia," cringed Drakken as he examined the ring.

"You did what?" asked Shego. She raised a brow at his shrug.

"It's where I went after we finished dancing," Drakken said casually. "I had to make a well-timed phone call... After some prior experience, I've started keeping contacts more than just people I like in my phone."

"Why did you call Protonia?" Shego was more confused by the dual plans that had been woven without her knowledge.

Drakken was silent as he started walking. Shego followed beside him. His eyes fixated on her hand for a beat before his expression seemed confident, or at least resolved.

"I wanted it very clear that I had absolutely no interest in Shawna, nor anyone else." She heard a waiver of fear in his voice. "It seemed to be the best way to convey it."

Shego raised a brow as his hand found hers. She felt whatever small increment of bitter jealousy that had remained melt away as she tightened her grip on his hand, remembering how she'd yanked her hand away before in annoyance and agitation. It had been the resolve that had pushed him to taking extreme measures... Just to make sure his true feelings were clear to her. She remembered his hinting eye gestures and wondered if he'd actually intended her to go with him to talk...and she hadn't gone. So he'd taken to villainous extremes. Shego tried to smirk, but it wavered slightly to a softer smile.

"Message received," she said, and moved to kiss him gently.

It turned hungry in reply, and Shego wasn't about to starve the gesture. Her arms snaked around his neck as their mouths began to make up for their lack of dancing that evening. His hand slid up her back as the other remained locked on her hip. The slight impact of a wall against her shoulders let her know she'd been backed into a corner. A flashback of the first heist flew through her head but was replaced by a swarm of delight.

"This seems familiar," she snickered as they broke for air.

"Does it?" The smirk on his expression made it clear he was thinking the same thing. "Better than last time."

"Mmhm," she hummed, her mouth moving towards his again. "Should make this an annual thing—"

"Speaking of traditions..." Drakken pulled away and dug in his coat pocket.

"I was in the middle of this one— What's that?" Shego blinked as Drakken pulled out something that shimmered in the dim light. She blinked. "Is that the bracelet?"

"Well, yes," shrugged Drakken. "It wouldn't be a proper heist if I didn't steal the most expensive thing for you...now would it?"

Shego had a series of remarks she could make about Drakken supposedly going neutral but doing devious things despite his claim, but she didn't make them. Her own emotions were spinning. She wanted to be annoyed that the evening hadn't started as she'd wanted it, but she hadn't expected it to be flawless in a heist. It hadn't even gone that way when they were villains. Despite that, it had ended the same... Triumphant, and the two of them sneaking away into the darkness, Drakken having even out-foiled her in doing so. She let out a small snicker before kissing him softly.

"You know... If you had been as cool and collected at world domination as you are heists...the world wouldn't even have known you'd taken over," she sighed. Drakken raised a brow and she saw a glint cast over his eyes.

"You think?" The devious smirk made her chest tingle. "Fuel for future thought perhaps."

"After you're done reaping the rewards of grandeur?" she inquired as he took her hand again.

"Always need a contingency plan on the shelf," he shrugged as they walked towards the exit. Shego nudged him with her elbow.

"Suddenly he's all suave and mature," she teased.

"Shego, I've always been suave and mature," he said smugly. "You just never noticed."

"Right, I was too distracted by all the whining, tantrums, and lab fires," snorted Shego. "That must have been it, right?"

"There were not that many lab fires," whined Drakken. "Most of them were caused by Kim Possible and the buffoon and you know it."

"Ah, there's that suave nature— Did you stomp your foot?" laughed Shego as she opened the door.

"No," Drakken sobered his expression. "My foot fell asleep— Stop laughing."

"I can't," she snickered. "Not when my point's being proven—"

Her mild mocking was silenced by Drakken as he pulled her into a strong kiss when they reached the cool night air. She inhaled through her nose sharply and let her list of jokes and mockery melt away. Her hands began to slide up his lapels when he pulled back, that smug look on his face again that was starting to not be as bothersome as it had been over the years.

"Looks like you can," he shrugged and pulled away and began walking ahead. "We should hurry back to the lair."

Shego wanted to make a snide comment, but as he stepped backwards and grabbed her hand before continuing to walk...it fell away. She let her fingers lace in his as they walked down the path to the parking garage. A primal hunger in her hoped the evening would continue their little wall make-out session once they returned to Greece. The reality was, she knew very well Drakken would sprint off to the lab and have to be forced to go to sleep for the next few days.

This was confirmed as he began muttering about the ring as her arm wove through his and his hand locked with hers again. She let her head rest on his shoulder as he prattled on about things like he often did. His voice became a soothing white noise as she mentally planned alarms to set to make sure he didn't live in the lab till his tinkering would dwindle. She looked up at him as expressions flared over his face, from excitement to perplexed and then back again.

Her eyes fell to the new bracelet on her wrist, from where it would go into the safe box of trinkets she adored. She rolled her eyes and looked at Drakken, and then to where his hand massaged her own in his rants. The chaos probably still unfolding in the grand building behind them, all to prove a point that he only had eyes for her...sent electrical feelings through her chest. The ball wasn't what she'd dreamed it would be... But despite that, she got what she'd wanted.

She smirked to herself as she looked at Drakken.

"You know, next time...I expect you to only dance with me," she spoke calmly.

"Agreed," smiled Drakken.

"By the way, what did you promise Hermes and Pandora?" asked Shego. "I never did get an answer."

"Oh." Drakken shrugged, "That silly little refractometer that I got to make a believable duplicate ring... I doubt I will use it again and it's not like I paid for it."

"What about Pandora... Gemstones and rocks is more of a Hermes thing." Shego raised a brow.

"I think she just didn't want to work with Cleopatra and wanted an out," shrugged Drakken.

"If only all deals were that easy," snorted Shego. "Wonder if part of it was caving because of whatever squabble you said they had."

Shego listened to Drakken change the topic back to the mood-ring as the mention of the refractometer had clearly made him remember his little toy. Shego fell into the white noise as her mind wandered back to wondering how much chaos was unfolding behind them or even if Shawna had managed to escape. She was certain she had... No doubt by the way the woman had begun to escape...she was definitely more than just a bored former housewife. Drakken stopped mid-talk about the components of the electrical grid he thought were off in the ring and looked at her. His expression became less confused and softer. He bit his lip and spoke carefully.

"Shego... Can—do—are... Nghn..." He was stumbling over his words. Shego raised a brow. "If I want to...tell people...that you and I are...an item—"

"I was waiting for 'going steady' to slip out," she teased. His eyes rolled and Shego raised her brow. "You can tell people... Unless you wanted this to be more private? Do you have more heists planned?"

Shego felt conflicted by this thought.

"No!" He looked panicked before calming down. "I meant... You don't have a problem with anyone from our villain lives...knowing, do you?"

Shego shook her head.

"Ah, good," Drakken looked relieved. "I have some calls to make when we get home."

"Is this going to be one of those things where you go over the top and I feel uncomfortable?" groaned Shego.

"Absolutely," grinned Drakken.

Shego rolled her eyes but resumed resting her head on his shoulder. She smirked deviously on her own.

"Have you told your mother you have a girlfriend?" she asked as casually as she could.

"...No," Drakken spoke softly. "I was avoiding the subscription of bridal magazines she will send."

Shego raised a brow and then forced a horrified expression on her face.

"I was already insulted that you haven't proposed given your track record... But now you deny me subscriptions for free... Those things aren't cheap you know," scoffed Shego as she pulled away from Drakken.

Drakken pulled her arm back around his and rolled his eyes. Shego snorted in a chuckle and leaned her head against his shoulder again. Drakken's prattling about the mood-ring plans would resume shortly, and the entire flight back to the lair would be Shego fighting sleep in a thin hope that Drakken wouldn't sprint to the lair. The thin hope would last till the doorway where she'd be happily mingled in another kiss, before he in fact...sprinted off to the lab. But it was to be expected. It was Drakken after all.

Lets go for a Soak, shall we?
