August 24
Things have been coming along great with planning for the baby shower. We're going to have it at our house next week and we've already sent out invitations to our friends. I'm really looking forward to celebrating our baby before it comes into the world.
Yasha and I went for another walk this afternoon. Hand-in-hand as always, we ended up at one of our favorite places: the sakura garden where he proposed to me. We come out here all the time to sit and talk and enjoy the weather and today was no exception.
Once we sat down in the grass I put my hand on my steadily growing stomach as I felt the baby move. "Can you believe I'm halfway through this pregnancy already?"
"Time seems to be going by fast," he replied. "Are you still worried?"
I thought back on Kimiko's stillborn birth last month. It had come to my mind so many times since then. I was still very frightened by it. "Yes, but then I think about what you said about it being okay. I think it will be too. Now I just can't wait to hold our little one in my arms."
"Same here," he said before kissing me. Then he put his hand on my stomach. "Geez kiddo, you must be doing flips in there."
I laughed a bit. "I can tell it's growing. The kicks are starting to get stronger."
"Alright you, settle down a little bit," he said to the baby. "We don't need you hurting your mom."
"You know, in my era, we would have been able to find out the gender of the baby by now."
"How is that possible?"
"At about 16 weeks I would have gotten an ultrasound."
"Sounds painful."
"It's not. What happens is they scan my stomach and the baby is shown on a screen."
"So we would actually be able to see inside your stomach?"
"Exactly. We would be able to see the baby moving around and everything."
"Your era is wild, Kagome. It would be cool to see the baby though. Knowing whether it's a boy or girl would make it easier to pick out a name."
"We could still think of some," I said. I tried to think up some names. "What about Misa if it's a girl?"
"That sounds too much like miso soup."
I laughed. "Okay, not Misa then."
"We could name it Kichi if it's a boy."
"Don't you think that's pretty close to Shinichi?"
"You're right, we need to be able to tell them apart."
"What about Hitoshi? Or Koji? Or maybe Soro or Tadaki?"
"I'm a fan of Hitoshi. I also like Koichi."
"Koichi is really cute!"
"But what about if it's a girl?"
"Honoka?"
"Hmm, I don't know…"
"There's also Gina or Emika."
"Mina? Moro…?"
"Moroha?" I suggested.
Inuyasha nodded in agreement. "Moroha works."
"So Koichi if it's a boy and Moroha if it's a girl."
The baby gave another kick and we both laughed.
"I think it approves."
