September 15

After the bandit attack a couple of weeks ago, our village has been quiet. Inuyasha told me that before he saved me that day, he had roughed a few of them up. Maybe they're scared to come here now. I'm just glad it's over and there haven't been any other threats to my family.

In fact, things have been really exciting for us. This day was an important milestone for us as we move towards getting ready for the baby to arrive.

We decorated our nursery today!

Since the baby shower, we've gone to the market a couple of times to get things we'll need for the baby. All of that stuff, as well as the things our friends had given us, was shoved and stacked in the baby's room but we hadn't bothered to organize anything yet. Today, we decided it was finally time.

This morning I went into the room and looked around. All of the staff was disorganized and in random places. But as I stood there, I imagined what it would look like when we were finished and I couldn't wait to get started.

I went back into our bedroom where Yasha was getting dressed.

"Got any plans for today, honey?" I asked.

"Not really," he said as he put on his red robe. "Although I think today would be a good day to set up the baby's room. I'm tired of looking at it the way it is now."

I started laughing all of a sudden and he looked really confused which made me laugh even more.

"Is this a new pregnancy symptom…?"

"No, love." I went over to him and kissed him. "I was just going to ask you if you wanted to set up the baby's room today."

Now he was laughing too.

"There's a reason we're soul mates, Kagome."

"Let's get started."

"Hold on a second," he said, grabbing my hand as I started to leave the room.

"What?"

"Can we have breakfast first?"

"Of course."

And so we had a quick breakfast and then went into the baby's room.

"We sure got a lot of stuff," Inuyasha said before we got started.

"That's what makes it fun. It's like a game of Tetris."

Inuyasha raised his eyebrows. "What's that?"

I giggled a bit. I was always referencing things from my era leaving Inuyasha eternally confused. "Tetris is a video game. Essentially blocks fall from the top of the screen and you have to fit pieces of the puzzle together and clear it out before they pile up to the top."

"So it's like Tetris because these are like puzzle pieces?"

"Yes."

"But we're not stacking everything to the ceiling. And we're not going to lose the game…"

I sighed. "Just forget about it."

So we got to work and spent the next few hours on our project. First, we spent some time deciding how to lay everything out. Inuyasha thought we should put the bed near the window so the baby can get some sun but I thought it would get too much sun in the summer and get too cold in the winter. Admittedly, I may have had him move the bed around one too many times but when he started getting mad at me we decided on a spot.

So we set up the bed and put a changing station across from it with all the diapers and such things stacked in a basket next to it. We also have a smaller bassinet bed that the baby will sleep in our room for the first few months but we left it next to the regular bed for now.

We also filled the dresser and closet with all of the cute baby clothes we have up to this point. There's a toy box on one side of the room. Next to that, we put together a bookshelf for the books we bought/were given to us as well as the Winnie the Pooh and Disney storybooks I brought back from my era. And then we put up some other cute decorations and pictures around the room to make everything cozy.

"This looks great!" I said happily once we were done. "Do you think the baby will like it?"

Yasha put his arm around me and kissed me. "Absolutely."
