Welcome back to Ignitus' Wisdom! Today, we talk about the most controversial of the original five DLC fighters. The one hidden for so long, and for some the most disappointing Fighter released. I am, of course, talking about Byleth. So let's not waste a second, and here's hoping I don't get shot over this.

Spyro: So this is the one causing all the ruckus in the community.

Ignitus: That's Byleth alright.

Spyro: You know, I honestly don't see the reason for all the uproar. Byleth here was just following in a long-held Smash tradition.

Ignitus: What?

Spyro: After the series got it's first representation in Melee, just about every Fire Emblem character added since Brawl was the protagonist of the then most recent game. Lucina and Chrom being the sole post-introduction exceptions. Otherwise you have Ike for the Radiance duology, Robin for Awakening, Corrin for Fates, and now Byleth for Three Houses.

Ignitus: Huh. I never noticed.

Spyro: A lot of fans, many who just got into Smash through Ultimate I'd guess, probably didn't notice. That's why Byleth got the reaction they did. Probably.

Ignitus: Wouldn't surprise me.

Spyro: So all that aside, what's the deal with battle teacher over here?

Ignitus: Byleth has all four of his world's major weapons on their side. The Sword of the Creator is their default, but they can still use the lance Areadbhar, the axe Amyr, and the bow Failnaught. And they'll alternate between them depending on the direction of their attack.

Spyro: Alright then, class is in session!
