A/N: Couple of these chapters ended up shorter than I'd like, and that's mostly due to me adjusting my plans become of COVID in wrestling as well. It gets better from here, promise.
Team Work chapter 226
March 27th, 2020
Slowly, Stephanie finds herself growing used to the way things are now. The backstage areas are quieter, there are less people around, she discovers she can focus easier now. It's odd, and she likes it to some extent, but she already misses the nonstop buzz of the crowds, and experiencing in-time reactions to things. Still, it's better than not holding shows at all, even though she has limited access to rosters now with most wrestling companies on hiatus to avoid risking spread.
Only having TNA and AEW wrestlers to flesh out the card so it's not all just WWE competitors kind of does her head in, but it's better than nothing, and she embraces it, even as the length of her show and the number of matches suffers for it. Easier to replay old matches to fill time as needed than be the focal point of an outbreak.
The night starts off with Luster the Legend facing off with Willie Mack, neither of them eager to give much to the other. It's only after a fair amount of back and forth that Luster just barely manages a win. Alexa Bliss defeats Io Shirai after avoiding her moonsault and following it up with a perfectly landed Twisted Bliss. Tyler Breeze defeats Angel Garza, and Candice LeRae takes down Taya Valkyrie.
Adam Thornestrowe continues his team's winning ways by defeating Isaiah Swerve Scott. In tag team action, Montez Ford and Jake Hager defeat Danny Burch and Matt Riddle. Kenny Omega takes down Darby Allin, and the team of Moose and Rhino quickly defeat Cody and Killian Dain after Dain refuses time and again to work with Cody, instead barreling straight into a gore and a vicious slam and ultimately the pin.
Michael Elgin partners with Oney Lorcan to defeat Aleister Black and Angelo Dawkins, and Tony Nese cinches a win over Sabu. Drew Gulak only just sneaks in a submission win over Brodie Lee.
In the main event, Andrade sneers across the ring at Cameron Grimes, ready and eager to get this match started. The sooner, the better, to get him away from the grungy looking man. Cameron tries to slow down Andrade's usual high impact, quick moves, but Andrade takes the advantage quickly and sends him crashing down to the mat, the man blustering and sputtering as he forces himself upright once more, yelling and snarling until Andrade levels him again with a lariat. He moves to stomp him and Grimes rolls out of the way, sweeping at Andrade's feet in an attempt to knock him to the ground as well, but Andrade foresees it and sidesteps, smirking as Grimes hits the mat a time or two, frustration leaving him sloppy and vulnerable to more of Andrade's offense.
Even Andrade tires of him however, and returns to his first inclination- to finish as quickly as possible. He staggers Grimes with a few sharp elbows and strikes, before hoisting him up and hammerlock DDTing him into the mat. Tangling him up into a high angled pin, Andrade listens as the referee counts it out and then calls for the bell, a smirk crossing his face as he claims yet another win and another point this close to Wrestlemania.
There are no crowds to share in his victory, but that is fine. Andrade is fine celebrating by himself as the referee lifts his arm up and shows him respect in the afterglow of his success.
