Parvati blinked as her phone rang. Sighing, she reached over and grabbed the pink device. A quick glance at the caller ID told her that it was her girlfriend, well, sort of girlfriend, almost girlfriend... okay, girl she wanted to be more than friends with, Lavender.
"It's three in the bloody morning, what's going on?" she answered. She could hear Lavender sobbing. Parvati sat straight up in her bed causing the cat that had been sleeping at her feet to startle and dart off into the darkened room.
"Ron. Ron's... well, I thought, and then we, and that was a month ago and now, and he's left me!" Lavender sobbed. Parvati blinked, wondering if she could get Lavender to fill in those blanks over the phone. She doubted it. She slid her feet into her fuzzy lilac colored slippers and trudgled her way to the bathroom.
"Okay, meet me at the shop. We'll figure this out, together, alright?" Parvati asked. She heard Lavender choke back another series of sobs before she squeaked out an agreement. Parvati hung up and dressed quickly knowing Lavender would be there in just moments.
She was glad she lived above the Lovely Bouquet flower shop. It had proven to be a life raft in their lives. When Parvati had purchased the store front, she'd never dreamed becoming a flourist would be her greatest dream come true. She'd only just unlocked the shop's front door when Lavender arrived. Her blond hair was disheveled, her beautiful blue eyes were red rimmed and she was sniffling loudly. Parvati opened the door and let her friend inside, locking the door behind her.
"Alright, I've got a kettle on, I've found a tin of those chocolate biscuits you claim to hate, but end up eating all of when I'm not looking, what's going on? Start at the beginning," Parvati stated, leading Lavender to the couch in the back of the shop. Lavender sank down, grabbing a biscuit and eating it quickly.
"Ron and I."
"Yes, what about him? Did he hurt you? I'll break him!"
"We... well, we did it."
"It?" Parvati asked, wondering if Lavender meant what she thought. It wouldn't surprise her.
"Yes, it! You know, the ultimate expression of love and I thought, that it meant something but apparently..."
"Lavender?"
"It was his birthday, and he wanted, well, me, and I gave myself to him, all of me, Pav, and now... this!" Lavender cried, pulling something from her pocket. Parvati's eyes widened at the muggle pregnancy test in Lavender's hand.
"It's postive?"
"Yes, and I know the baby's Ron's. I've never cheated! I thought he and I... I thought he was going to marry me, you know. I mean, yeah, he's cheated in the past, but I thought..."
"You thought he'd changed?"
"Yes! I showed him the test. I thought he'd be happy, you know. We made love, we made a life and he yelled at me, told me that he didn't want to be tied down yet. That a child was nothing more than a chain holding him to one person. That's when I found out... he's been cheating on me, Pav."
"I will end him," Parvati growled. "How dare he!"
"What should I do? I mean, I love him!"
"Why? He's a grade A arsehole. You deserve better, Lav," Parvati whispered, sinking onto the sofa with Lavender. Lavender nodded slowly, laying her head against Parvati's shoulder.
"You would have been thrilled if it had been you and me," Lavender muttered. "Why can't Ron be like you?"
"Because I'm one of a kind?"
"I think Padma would argue that," Lavender replied, letting out a little half laugh sound.
"She would. I guess we should go get your things, I'm guessing you're moving out of Ron's flat?"
"Obviously," Lavender stated, rolling her eyes. "I don't know where I'm going to go. I mean, it's not like I have houses lined up for cases like this, I shouldn't have to!"
"No, you shouldn't, and with a baby... you could move in here, with me, at least for now."
"You mean it, Pav? I wouldn't want to impose."
"Well, I mean... but of course, Lavender. I care about you too much to let you live who knows where. We'll go get your things in the morning, I'll give Ron a piece of my mind if he's there..."
"Thank you, Pav. There's no place I'd rather be. You're always here for me. You'd really come with me to get my things?"
"How else could I hex your now ex into oblivion?" Parvati asked.
"Could we leave him some flowers instead? The nasty old ones that stink?" Lavender asked.
"Sure, want to hide them around his flat so he won't know where the smell's coming from?" Parvati asked.
"Yes and we could put a huge arrangement in front saying he's a liar and cheat?" she asked. Parvati smiled.
"I think I can make something like that," she agreed, taking Lavender's hand in hers. "You're going to be alright, Lav."
"Thanks to you, Pav, thanks to you," Lavender agreed.

Ron smiled as he approached his flat. Everything was going perfect again. Lavender had disappeared after their fight. He was glad he didn't have to try and sort things out with her. She was fun, but if that was going to change, he didn't need her hanging around.
The idea of a kid, someone he'd have to be responsible for, have to take care of, that wouldn't do. He noticed the flowers at his door. Had one of his many witches sent him a gift, he wondered. He smiled wider. He reached the door. The flowers spelled something in blue and pink blooms. He paused, trying to read it.
Cheater. It said cheater! Ron's hands curled into fists. Who could have done this? Lavender! She was friends with Parvati, who ran a flower shop. Ron reached out and yanked the wreath from his door. His hands started burning. He dropped the flowers quickly, looking at his hands. The word 'cheater' had spread across his skin in angry red letters. He seethed. How was he supposed to have fun with that on his skin?
He wondered if the girl he was meeting in an hour would notice if he was wearing gloves? He kicked the flowers away from the door and yanked it open only to have more flowers spill out of the flat. They covered him in itchy hives, also spelling the word 'cheater'. He swore he could hear Lavender's laughter, but she was no where to be seen. Furious, Ron tried to burn the offensive flowers, only to end up setting the whole flat on fire.
Lavender and Parvati laughed, shaking their heads. They hadn't expected Ron to do that. Now, he was covered in hives, labeled as cheater – Parvati would have to thank Hermione for that charm, and homeless.
"Serves him right," Lavender commented as the girls headed back to the flower shop, as the chameleon spell started faded.
"True, and seriously, who uses incendio instead of a quick banishing anyway?" Parvati agreed, her hand holding Lavender's as they walked home, enjoying the fact Ron would hopefully no longer be in either of their lives and they might have saved another innocent witch from heartbreak.
