So I was hanging out with one of my friends in the park today and we were talking about our eyes for some reason...we both have really un-common eyes...I have grey eyes with little flecks of goldish yellow and my friend has green eyes with little flecks of yellow and blue-ish. Um, what color eyes do you have? I really don't know what I'm trying to say here…

Guest: Thank you! :)

Guest: Thanks, also my favorite fanfics about things from Will's POV would probably be 'if you need, come build your home in me' by yrbeecharmer on Ao3 and 'Always Toward The Sun' by TheTimeTraveler24, also on Ao3. They're both really good and I would recommend reading them. :)

PERCABETHISDABEST: Thank you! I really like yours too! It was fun working with you on it :)

Chapter 3: Brothers

Will watched Percy walk out of the big house with Annabeth and Grover in tow. He had told Lee that he was tired from healing everyone in capture the flag and asked for a few hours off. Lee had agreed, saying that they needed the Camp healers to be at their best in case of emergency but instead of relaxing at the beach or walking through the strawberry bushes like he should have, he had been following Percy Jackson around.

Will didn't know why there was just something so...intriguing about the boy.

So he had followed him when he saw him heading toward the Big House. Something was clearly happening. Or had happened, Will wasn't sure.

"Hey Will," Cecil said from behind him.

"Ah!" Will jumped. "What are you-how did you-"

"I think the better question is what are you doing William Andrew Solace?" Cecil asked with a mischievous smile.

"How do you know my middle name?" Will asked.

"I have my ways," Cecil said. "Now stop avoiding my question."

"For your information, I was bird watching," Will said.

"Bird watching," Cecil said suspiciously. "You could have chosen literally any excuse and you chose bird watching. I'm starting to think that I haven't been teaching you enough in the ways of getting out of weird situations."

Will just stared at him.

"Anyway," Cecil continued, unfazed. "It looked like you were doing more Percy watching than bird watching."

"Why would I be watching Percy?" Will asked, wanting Cecil to get off his back.

"I dunno," Cecil said. "That's not my problem."

"Exactly," Will said. "So stop questioning me."

"Jeez," Cecil said. "Fine Mr.I-won't-let-Cecil-ask-me-questions."

Will glared at Cecil.

"Fine, fine," Cecil said. "I'll change to subject. Uuuum, what's your favorite color?"

Will rolled his eyes. "A sort of Orange-yellow. Like a sunset-ish color."

"Nice," Cecil said. "I like bright, obnoxious colors. Like a neon lime. Yeah…"

"Nice," Will said, nodding. "Why are we having this conversation?"

Cecil shrugged. "No idea, but you wanted me to change the subject and that was the first thing that popped into my head."

"Okay…" Will said. "Well, I'm just going to go join my cabin for archery."

Cecil snickered.

"Have fun missing the target," He said.

Will elbowed him, crawling out from behind the rock he'd been hiding by.

"Woah there," Cecil said, throwing his hands up. "You're a doctor, aren't you supposed to be like a no-violence person?"

"Yeah, well, we're demigods," Will said, standing up and starting to walk toward the archery range. "Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the greater good."

"And harming your best friend is 'for the greater good'?" Cecil asked, following Will away from the big house.

"When my best friend is asking too many questions, yes."

"Fine, fine, I'll stop," Cecil said. "See you at the campfire."

"See you then," Will said, waving goodbye to Cecil. He, Cecil, and Lou Ellen were sort of like the golden trio of Camp Half-Blood. He had met them both during his brief time in the Hermes cabin and other than his siblings, they were his closest friends at camp.

Will spent the next 20-ish minutes with his cabin, trying to hit bulls-eyes like Michael, Lee, and Summer. He wasn't nearly as bad as Cecil had said but he wasn't great either.

He was just about to take a break for a drink of water when Lee told them to follow him over to Half-Blood hill.

"What do you think this could be about?" Will asked Jake as they picked up their things and started walking toward Thalia's pine tree.

Jake had probably taken the longest to warm up to Will, but apparently, he had always been like that. Jake and Will had been the only Apollo campers who had stayed through the winter so they had gotten a lot closer then but he still wasn't Will's closest cabin mate.

"Not sure," Jake said. "But I'm guessing it has something to do with the Percy guy."

"What hasn't been about Percy these past few days?" Will asked bitterly.

"Aaaw is Will jealous that the new guy is getting all the attention?" Jake teased him.

"No," Will said defensively. He definitely wasn't jealous of Percy. He was happy just being a normal demigod who didn't have to worry about Zeus or Hades smiting him with lightning bolts or literally scaring him to death. "I'm just saying, so much is happening at once and it seems like it all has to do with Percy."

Jake nodded. "I see what you mean, when Thalia arrived a few years ago, she was all anyone could talk about for days. Maybe it's just a 'kid-of-the-big-three' thing. Like, having monsters and gods constantly mad at you."

Will probably would have said something else about Percy or children of the big three but at that moment they reached Half-Blood Hill.

Percy, Annabeth, and one of the satyrs Will saw around camp were all standing there with their bags packed, looking ready to go camping in the woods or something. Not that Will thought that was a good idea.

People started whispering about this probably being a quest or something. The last person to go on a quest had been Luke, and Will hadn't been around to see that but people still talked about how it had given him the scar on his face. Will wondered what this quest was about. Probably something to do with Zeus or Hades.

It was only then that Will realized that all of the cabins (plus some satyrs) had gathered to wish Percy and his friends good luck. Was that normal? Will had no idea.

Chiron explained that Percy, Annabeth, and Grover (oh, so that was what the satyr's name was...) were going on a quest to find something very important but didn't clarify what they were looking for or why it was so important and then sent them on their way.

By nightfall, the camp was swarming with theories about what it was Percy was searching for. Someone, probably either Travis or Connor, had started a rumor that they were looking for the Golden Fleece, and about half the camp seemed to think that was true for some reason.

Personally, Will had no clue what they could be searching for, but at this point, he was 99.9% sure that it was about Zeus, Poseidon, and/or Hades.

For over a week, Will and the rest of the camp were left wondering what had happened that had gotten Percy sent on a quest.

Finally, after about 10 days of waiting, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover returned. News quickly spread through the camp about Zeus's Master Bolt being stolen and returned to him by Percy. Like everyone, Will assumed this meant that the quest was done. But he couldn't shake the feeling of unease...like there was something left to be revealed.

That was why when Percy was carried out of the woods by some dryads a little while later, Will couldn't bring himself to be surprised. Once Percy regained consciousness, he told everyone about how Luke had betrayed them and he had been the one to steal the Master Bolt all the way back in December.

Will wondered the camp in a daze for a few hours before realizing that Cecil probably needed someone to talk to or just keep him company.

After a little bit of searching and asking around, Will found Cecil at the arts and crafts table fidgeting with the friendship bracelet he always wore on his wrist.

"Hey," Will said.

"Hey," Cecil said, avoiding his gaze.

"Can I sit?" Will asked. Cecil obviously wasn't taking the news well. How could he? His older brother had just betrayed him and was working for Kronos.

Cecil nodded.

"Are you okay?" Will asked.

"Not really," Cecil said. "I suppose...I suppose I'm just thinking that if Luke could betray us, who couldn't? I might wake up one day and find out that you or Lou Ellen are working for Kronos."

"You know we'd never do that," Will said earnestly. "We'll always be here."

Cecil nodded absentmindedly.

"He gave me this, you know," Cecil said after a minute of silence.

"Your bracelet?" Will asked.

"Yeah," Cecil said roughly. "The day I got claimed by Hermes. He was the first person to make me feel normal, like maybe my life wasn't a mess."

"I know what you mean," Will said. "Do you want to go back to your cabin and watch random episodes of cringy shows on that TV you guys always pretend you don't have?"

Cecil smiled. "Sure,"

Will held out his hand a Cecil took it.

It was only as they were walking away that Will realized that Luke had offered the same kind of reassurance on Will's first day.

Goodbye Luke, Will thought as they pulled the old TV out from its hiding place in the wall. Thank you for being here for all of us, we'll miss you.

They would most likely have to face him again in a fight sometime soon but Will didn't want to think about that yet. For now, he could be just an 11-year-old kid. For now, he would pretend that those far-off battles were someone else's problem. Someone smart, and strong, and brave. Everything he wasn't.

Stop it, He chided himself. You're a medic, you help save people's lives.

But he couldn't help but wonder how useful his talents would be once those fights reached them.

This chapter made me feel so sorry for the Hermes Campers...they really don't get enough recognition. I mean, how would you feel if your older brother betrayed you? I really can't decide whether or not I like Luke, debate about it in the reviews. See you on Friday :)
