A/N: welcome to chapter three.

Wednesday

Gojo and Sukuna text the entire day.

There's rarely a fifteen minute interval between their texts, ranging from just talking about their work, to ranting about customers, to details of their date the next day. It's cute, Gojo thinks, the way they hit it off so well. Almost perfect.

Too perfect.

"You seem happy."

"I-I do?" Gojo stutters, hiding his phone.

Geto nods and comes close behind him at the register, surveying him closely. "Anything good happen?"

"Yeah, I um," Gojo mumbles, trying and failing to hide a smile. "I'm talking with that one customer. You know, the guy with all the tattoos."

"You mean the guy I told you to stay away from," Geto deadpans.

"Look," Gojo says, exasperated, "I know what he seems like, but he's a really nice guy! He's been nothing but polite to me."

Geto purses his lips, making a haughty sound through his nose. "Yeah, sure, and when he ends up breaking your heart, I'm the one who you'll turn to for help."

Gojo makes a face. "What? He's not going to break my heart, Geto. I think you're misconstruing things."

"You've known this man for two days."

"But I just know!"

Geto sighs and shrugs, turning away. "Don't say I didn't warn you, Satoru."

Gojo frowns after him, heart a mess of emotions. He stares at the flowers lining the walls of the shop blankly, lost in thought. Sukuna seemed really kind and open; he wasn't one to break hearts. Not him. Not when they've been clicking so well. It wasn't going to happen, Geto was just misunderstanding their situation.

Gojo wasn't so unlucky to fall for a man who would do that, was he?

He spends the rest of the day distracted. When customers come in for flowers, he takes care of them, but none of them are Sukuna. It makes him sad.

It's been one day, but he already misses him.

"You can go home for the day."

"What?"

Geto glares at him. "You heard me. You're distracted. There's no need to keep you around if you're just gonna daydream about that guy all day."

"But I'm not," Gojo frowns, eyebrows furrowing, "I've been doing my job just fine."

"I can tell your mind is on something else. How long do you think we've been friends, Satoru?" Geto folds his arms. "Go home. It'll do you some good to collect your thoughts before coming back here."

Gojo can't believe his ears. "Are you...kicking me out?"

Geto's eyes flash. "If that's what it sounds like, then yes."

Gojo opens and closes his mouth, unable to find words. "Why are you so upset that I'm talking with Sukuna?"

"So that's the bastard's name," Geto grumbles. "Sukuna."

"You're...you're not jealous, are you?" Gojo whispers.

Geto's nostrils flare and he walks up into Gojo's space, grabbing him by the collar. Gojo shrinks away from the anger in his expression. "Jealous? Jealous? Satoru, do you even know what you're insinuating?"

"No, I-"

"How could you?"

"No one else would be this upset just because I started talking to someone, you know!" Gojo fires right back. "Most people would be happy for their friends!"

"You fucking-" Geto shakes him a little. "Don't you see I'm worried for you?!"

Gojo grabs his wrist and tugs, scowling. "No! You haven't even met him! How could you judge based on people's looks? That's not like you!"

"That's because-"

"You still have lingering feelings for me. Even Nanamin says so. Just say you're jealous and go."

Upon seeing his friend's expression, Gojo wishes he hadn't said that.

Geto looks like he got slapped.

He releases Gojo and balls his hands into fists by his side, frowning deeply towards the floor. He shakes from rightful fury, while simultaneously looking like the most fragile person ever. Seeing his friend so down because of him opens up a hole in his chest.

He feels like shit.

Gojo reaches out a hand to his shoulder. "Geto-"

"Get the fuck out."

He recoils immediately. "But I-"

Geto looks positively livid. "You went too fucking far, man. I don't want to talk to you right now. Get. Out."

Gojo purses his lips together, ugly guilt surging through his veins. "Okay."

He goes to the back to get his things, shouldering his coat and his bag, then makes his way back to the front door. Geto glares at him all the while, but Gojo can't find it in him to meet his gaze.

"Don't bother coming in the rest of the week. Just call me for orders."

Gojo nods numbly, then exits without another word.

-"I'm thinking of going with gardenias for the flower."

"Oh?" Gojo says into the phone, relaxing back on his couch in his apartment. "And why those?"

After coming home from work, Sukuna gave him a call. Gojo almost dropped everything he was holding in his haste to answer, surprised the man would call so soon after their meeting just the previous day.

There's a pause on the other end, and Gojo wonders if he ventured into personal territory. "Ah, you don't have to answer, I was just curious."

"No, no it's fine," Sukuna answers in a small voice, and Gojo's brows rise at that. Gojo has conversed with him enough to know that the man was confident in practically every aspect of his life. He was not one to let down his walls- if there were any that existed in the first place- about anything.

But for some reason, every time Gojo brought up the wedding, Sukuna seemed to dial things back.

"I just think they look nice," he goes with, and Gojo nods despite him not being able to see him. "The red ones."

"Red?" Gojo frowns. "Usually people order white..."

"They've gotta be red," Sukuna says thickly.

The tone of his voice makes Gojo freeze, icicles down his back. "...Alright, gotcha. I'll make sure to get that down and give our supplier the heads up. Thanks for letting me know."

"Yeah, of course."

They stay silent for a bit, unlike them. Gojo wonders if he said anything wrong, but his fears are quickly eradicated when Sukuna begins speaking again.

"So our date."

"Yeah!" Gojo perks up. "You said you wanted to go for lunch?"

"Yup. Where do you want to go?"

Gojo blushes. "You're letting me pick?"

Sukuna chuckles on the other end, and it sends shivers up Gojo's sides. "It's the least I can do for asking you out, Satoru."

Satoru. His name sounded beautiful on Sukunas's tongue.

"Hmm, how about some Chinese?"

"That sounds good," Sukuna agrees easily, "there's a good restaurant a block from Malevolent Shrine."

"Oh really? That sounds awesome," Gojo smiles, feeling his cheeks rosy up even further. "I can't wait."

"Neither can I," Sukuna replies in a rumbly tone that gets Gojo sitting up a bit straighter. "And Satoru?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you alright? You sound a little down."

Damn, he could see through his facade? Already?

Gojo thinks back to his argument with Geto earlier in the day and sighs. "I'll be fine."

"...Alright. I'm always a call or text away."

"You're too good for me."

Gojo can practically hear the smile in his voice. "I know. Now get some rest."

"Will do. See you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, see ya."

And with a click, the conversation is done and over.
