Chapter 3: Observation.
The next night, Chiroptera was out on patrol. He used the Batline to zip to a nearby roof. He nearly fell due to getting scared by what looked like a human mixed with a bat screeching at him. It swiped at him before he moved out of the way and leapt on it.
"We've been trying to catch you for weeks, Man-Bat. Time for your medicine." Chiroptera said as he brought out a syringe and injected him in the neck as Man-Bat struggled but ultimately fell unconscious as he reverted back to Dr. Kirk Langstrom. Chiroptera then lowered him down to an ambulance before resuming patrol. He checked several districts of Gotham, but crime seemed to be taking a rain check. However, he soon stumbled upon a bunch of crooks holding up a jewelry store. He swung down and snuck up behind one of the robbers before sweep-kicking him, tripping him and allowing Chiroptera to elbow him into the floor, alarming the other six. One started shooting at him, only for him to duck low and run, causing him to miss. However, he failed to notice the crook with a bat in front of him. He ran right into a whack in the gut, leading to a whack with a crowbar. However, Chiroptera regained himself and quickly avoided another hit before tossing a Batarang at the second thug with a gun, disarming him. He then threw a cable around another thug, causing him to drop his goods and fall to the floor. The other thugs with melee weapons ran at him, only for him to drop a smoke bomb and disappear. The thugs looked around for him before they heard two of them screaming. They looked and saw the two with guns had been strung up by cables from beams on the ceiling. They looked around, now nervous. Suddenly, the third one in line was grabbed and thrown off the ledge of the upstairs balcony, strung by a cable. The other two then looked around near a grate, out of which Chiroptera sprung and head-butted them both from behind, knocking them both out.
"Sorry, fellas, but no big payday for you tonight." Chiroptera said before he was applauded by the hostages as the police arrived.
"Interesting, so he can fight, but he can have a hard time when trying to focus on a single opponent." said the Joker, who had seen the fight from a nearby alleyway. Then, he noticed a drop of Chiroptera's blood that was spat when he got hit.
Later, at Arkham Asylum...
"Now for our next phase. We're going to need another piece to the system. Who's got one they'd be willing to donate, Riddler?" Joker asked.
"Checking. What we're after is cutting-edge. These are the only other places we'd find one." Riddler said. Joker looked at the computer screen and traced his finger down it, reading the list.
"Nope, nuh-uh, no, AH!" Joker said, finding the name he was looking for.
"What? There?! Security is gonna be tight!" Riddler said.
"Oh, yes. But think of the fun!" Joker said with a smirk.
