Chapter 6: What A Sight!
When she came to, Samantha opened her eyes to find herself in an unfamiliar room. The room was barely lit for her to see anything. The only light was from underneath her. Sam went to step out, only to be stopped by an invisible force. Placing a hand to the force, she felt cold tempered glass against the texture of her green catsuit.
"Great," she paused. "He managed to place me inside a vat."
She said that in a whisper, just in case Tim or the two young girls were there observing her. Sam then turned her head to the right, seeing yellow corn colored hair and red. The girl next to her looked familiar.
"Clover?" Sam questioned.
Clover winced as she began to open her eyes after hearing Sam's voice. Clover looked like she had seen better days. Her catsuit was torn in many different places, her skin was wrinkled, and her hair had lost its shine. Clover's eyes had lost the radiant of love and life it once had as well. Sam turned to the right as best as she could to get a better look at her weakened friend.
"Clover! Hey?" She paused. "Can you hear me?"
Clover carefully lifted her head to look at Sam and gave a weak smile as a friendly gesture, she was happy to see Sam. However, she wasn't happy to see her caught in a vat just like her.
"Sammy, hey," Clover said.
Clover's voice sounded normal. Sam had seen this look before, this was just like the case with Felicia Mane. Sam felt horrible, seeing Clover this way again.
"Clover, I'm sorry," she began. "I feel like I failed you."
"Don't say that, Sam," Clover replied. "You didn't fail anyone. Not me. Not Alex. Not Jer."
"But-," Sam started to say.
"Alex will come," Clover said. "We just have to have faith in her."
"Are you certain she will come?" A young female voice questioned.
…..
"I'm about ready to head out, Jerry," Alex said.
"Before you go, I think we should change out some of your gadgets," Jerry replied.
Alex turned to look at him and gave a small questionable look.
"Do you think they aren't going to be useful?"
"A few of them will," Jerry answered. "Now, let's go over your gadgets before you head off."
Jerry pilled all of the gadgets that Alex had for the mission and began piling the ones she wasn't going to need for the mission from the ones she was going to need before pulling out a couple more gadgets to put in the pile that she would need for the completion of the mission. Alex was paying attention to what Jerry was doing.
"Why did you put the Fume Emitting Camera out of the group?" Alex questioned.
"I don't think that you'll need it for the rest of this mission," Jerry replied.
"And the Awful Boots?"
"Again, I think we will be able to find their hideout without much trouble," paused Jerry. "Without hiking up a snowy mountain."
"Okay, what are my new gadgets?" Asked Alex.
"Your new gadgets consist of Expandable Cable Bungee Belt, Multi-Purpose Charm Bracelet, Ice-Queen Perfume, Bracelet Handcuffs, and this," Jerry slipped a small pistol in Alex's bag. "I would prefer my spies not to use guns, however if you think you need to use it; don't hesitate."
The thought of using a gun weighed heavy on Alex's mind, but the thought of perhaps shooting someone with it was hurting her. However, she had her orders. She had to save Sam and Clover from Tim Scam, Willa Reads, and Whitney Reads before she loses her best friends forever.
"I understand, Jerry," Alex said. "I will do what is necessary for the sake of bringing Sam and Clover home, and closing the Scarred case by bringing the sisters in for justice."
…..
"It's them," Clover spoke coldly as she carefully turned her head to look forward.
"You mean, the two we've been-," Sam started to say.
"Yes, yes," one of the young voices spoke. "I am Willa, the eldest twin."
"And I am Whitney, the youngest twin," another young female voice spoke.
Alex was right, their voices sounded something out of The Shining.
"What do you plan to do to us exactly?" Sam questioned.
"You see that over there?" Willa spoke, avoiding Sam's question.
Sam took a glance over to the left corner of the room where a hanging lamp illuminated over what looked like an open…
"Is that a… casket?" She asked.
"Haven't you smelt the fresh fumes in the air?" Whitney asked.
"Oh wait, you are in a filtered vat," Willa replied. "You cannot smell anything."
"You have avoided two of my questions, ladies," Sam paused. "Please give me straight answers."
"I thought it was clear, your friend Clover doesn't look so good," Whitney replied.
"You're-!"
"What? Cat got your tongue, Sam?" A male voice asked.
"Tim! Please, you don't know who you are helping!" Sam pleaded. "Let Clover go! She won't make it past the weekend!"
"You should've thought about that before you betrayed me and had me locked up, Sam," Tim said. "As far as Clover is concerned, she's nearly served her purpose in our little… experiment."
…
Alex had landed in Great Falls, Montana at 11:34pm. She was following the Henna Tracer Tattoo that was on Sam. The tracer led her to a tall building that was different from the other Reads Medical buildings she was in. She found a way to get in through the vent, still following the tracer. It led her to a room where an odor was heavy. Alex entered the dark room, still smelling the foul odor as she covered her mouth with a clean cloth.
'What died in here?' She questioned herself.
She followed the smell to an open casket that was lit from a lamp above. Inside was something you would find in a horror movie. Her eyes widened as she froze. There was a corpse in that casket.
