A/N: It's been awhile since I updated this. So I thought I'd give another crack at it. Please be aware that my writing schedule is a bit erratic, so pieces are jumbled. Thank you and enjoy!
OOOOOOOOOOOOO
Scarlet looked out at the world as she stood on the balcony to her and Felicia's hotel room. She was sad, their time in Santa Carla was almost up. Soon she'd have to say goodbye to her best friend and the Boys – to David – and go back to her crummy life in the country.
I'm not even important enough to keep anyone's attention, Scarlet thought, swallowing one of her emergency pills. I work as a stocker. I live with my parents and two of my sisters. I don't drive – so I can't go anywhere. What could anyone want with a useless lump like me? Fucking hell.
She blinked as she saw ice blue eyes flash before her mind's eye. Her skin prickled like someone was touching her and Scarlet put a hand over her mouth to stifle any sound that came out of it. She felt like the ghost hands were going lower, smoothing over her stomach and then down to -.
"My dearest, the Boys are here!" Felicia's voice called from the room behind her.
Scarlet lowered her hand and turned to see David, smirking at the balcony doors. His eyes blazed as he looked at her and Scarlet narrowed her own eyes at him.
"That's not nice," she hissed, crossing her arms over her chest. "Aren't I messed up enough in the head for you, that you have to pull that shit?"
David's smirk grew deadly as he approached her and backed her against the railing. He reached up and brushed back a strand of her black dyed hair and held her gaze. "Wouldn't you say that I'm more enjoyable than those other things in your head?"
Scarlet snapped her teeth at him. "I don't like things in my head."
David cupped her chin and tilted her head back so that her lips were presented to him. "I know…I just wanted to give you a little taste."
He kissed her lightly and Scarlet nipped his bottom lip. A chuckle rumbled in his chest as he parted from her. Scarlet flipped him the bird and walked back into the hotel room, only to be picked up and swung around by Paul.
"Scarlet!" he howled, bouncing. "I was wondering where you were."
Scarlet tried to peel his arms from around her waist to little avail. "I was on the damn balcony and don't pretend you didn't know that, Paul."
"My dearest," Felicia said, looking giddy as Dwayne and Marko cuddled her on the bed. "The Boys want to teach us how to skateboard and take us on a boat! Isn't that exciting?!"
Scarlet made a face. "No."
"Let me guess," David said, appearing in the room. "Too dangerous for you?"
"No," Scarlet muttered, shaking her head. "I just don't do boats. Because I nearly drowned too many times."
Felicia put a hand over her mouth. "That's right. You don't know how to swim, my dearest."
"And have horrible family members, probably," Dwayne said, stretching languidly on the bed. "No, we know you have horrible family members. What we don't know is everything that they did to you to make you this lump of no-fun flesh."
A slight growl came out of David's lips, but he didn't try to make Dwayne take it back. Scarlet knew she was no fun. She was a coward and new things scared her. Hell, old things scared her. It made sense that David knew it too.
After last night, Scarlet thought, squirming in Paul's grasp. He knows a little bit of everything and I'm sure that the Boys know it too. Damn.
"You're coming along, Scarlet," David stated, his blue eyes holding hers. "And I can guarantee you'll enjoy it."
Scarlet stuck her tongue out. "Assholes, all of you."
"And don't you forget it," Paul laughed, carrying Scarlet towards the door over his shoulder.
"Man, am I going to love seeing these girls try to skateboard!"
OOOOOOOOOOOO
Scarlet watched as Dwayne led Felicia around the shelter at a nearby park, him skateboarding and holding one of Felicia's hands as she tried to keep up with him. Marko was following behind them, pulling off simple maneuvers on his skateboard. Scarlet did her best to ignore Paul, who was skateboarding around her and shouting that she needed to try.
"My dearest, this is fun!" Felicia called out, wobbling a bit. "A little tricky, but I'm sure you'll love it if you give it a go."
Scarlet made a face and spun the skateboard around on its edge. David put his hands on her arms and held her against him. His unnecessary breath tickled her ear as he brought his lips close.
"You do this or I'll take you far from here and show you a different good time," David whispered in her ear.
Scarlet shivered, though she tried very hard not to. She turned her head and saw the look in his eyes.
"Yeah, no," Scarlet said, moving out of his arms. "I don't think so."
She plopped the skateboard down and put a foot on it, pushing off with her other foot. Marko glanced over at her and laughed.
"Look at Scarlet," he said, chasing Paul. "She's got the hang of it."
Paul laughed. "That's my girl."
Scarlet skateboarded for a few minutes on her own before something caught the wheel and she fell forward. "Ow…"
"Scarlet!" Felicia called out, hopping off her skateboard with help and running towards her best friend. "Are you okay?"
"Uh-oh, Scarlet's bleeding," Paul said, bouncing on his feet as Scarlet lifted her hands from the ground and started to irritably pick the gravel from her hands.
"No shit, Sherlock," David growled, crouching down next to Scarlet. "Let me see."
Scarlet pulled her hands closer to herself and hissed at him. "Back off."
David put his hand in her hair and pulled her head back. Scarlet hissed again, but realized she liked having her hair pulled. Something that David seemed to sense too. A smirk passed over his lips before he reached for her hands and looked down at them.
"Fucking litterers," he commented, shaking his head as he showed her hand to Dwayne. "See that glass right there?" Dwayne nodded. "Pull it out."
"No!" Scarlet protested, but it was too late.
"Got it," Dwayne said, throwing the piece of glass away.
"Maybe we should check her for more glass," Marko suggested, biting his thumb nail. "We could search Felicia as a precaution too."
Felicia put her hands on her hips and looked at him. "I don't need searching, thank you very much. I need you to let my best friend up, please and thank you." She flexed her fingers. "Come on then. Let her up."
Scarlet was allowed onto her feet and she kicked the skateboard aside. "Fuck that. Fuck you." She thrust a finger under David's chin. "Don't touch my hair again." She plopped down on a bench and looked at the ceiling. "Shouldn't be bleeding around a bunch of vampires."
"Why?" Paul laughed. "Think we're going to eat ya?"
Marko made a slurping sound that got the other Boys laughing. Scarlet rolled her eyes and glanced over at Felicia as her best friend sat down next to her.
"Scarlet," David called out softly.
She shivered at the familiarity in his tone. Like he knew every inch of her, body and soul. Scarlet had given up on that dream a long time ago.
"We're not going to eat you," David told her, holding her gaze. "You're safe with us. Remember that, little Lost Girl."
Scarlet's eyes held his until she had to blink. She cursed and sank back against the table part of the bench. "What are we going to do now? I don't feel like getting on that death trap again. Especially since there seems to be so much shit lying on the ground."
Dwayne rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, we should have cleaned up a bit before introducing you girls to our favorite skating spot."
Felicia's mouth dropped open. "You? You left this litter everywhere? Dwayne! How could you?"
"Rebel, rebel," Paul laughed.
"Like you haven't littered before, Felicia," Marko said, poking her on the nose.
"I – I haven't!" Felicia insisted, shaking her head. "And certainly not in a way that would get someone hurt if they fell."
"Right…"
"Marko!" Felicia rose to her feet and started chasing him, looking ready to beat him up which Scarlet was hoping she would.
All bets to the blonde with the accent, Scarlet thought, flexing her hands to test the pain in them. Then again, they both have accents to me. So…yeah. Whoever wins, whatever.
"Walk with me," David said from beside her.
Scarlet glanced at him and then rose to her feet. She put her hands in her jacket pockets and started walking. The scent of cigarette smoke soon met her lungs as David lit up a fresh cigarette and she sighed. Even though she hated the smell of cigarettes, when David did it, it didn't bother her. She welcomed the scent mixed with David's natural scent and let her body relax.
"You're not hurt too badly or scared, are you?" David asked as they walked.
"No, I've experienced worse at work," Scarlet said, looking straight ahead. "You remember me telling you that. How I slipped and fell on my hip as hard as possible without breaking anything on the concrete floor in the back room? Yeah, this is a picnic compared to that."
"And you're not mad?"
"Why would I be mad? You just did what immature boys do and littered everywhere. I happened to fall. Big deal." Scarlet shrugged her shoulders. "You'll do better to realize, I'm accustomed to pain. Uncomfortable cuts on my hands just bother me when I have to do something with them."
"There's no reason to ignore your pain," David told her. "You can break down if you want to."
"All I ever do is break down. I don't want to do it anymore."
"Fine, then don't break down when I tell you this." David took a drag on his cigarette. "I got you fired from your job."
Scarlet's eyes widened and she spun to look at him. "You did what?"
"I. Got. You. Fired." David told her with a straight face. "You're welcome."
Angry tears flooded Scarlet's eyes and she tried to punch David but he dodged her. "You bastard! You evil, fucking jackass!"
David caught her in his arms and held her squirming body against his, forgoing his cigarette. Scarlet tried everything she knew to get out of his arms, to hurt him, but David was solid as a rock and didn't react much.
"Easy, easy," David said, his voice soothing.
"David, you have no idea what you've done," Scarlet cried against his outer jacket. "You've gone and taken away my only source of income. The thing that keeps my parents satiated and allows me the semblance of freedom."
The leader of the Lost Boys pet her hair, calming her down against her wishes. She wanted to be mad. She wanted to scream. She wanted to hurt him like she'd been hurt before.
"They were abusing you, Scarlet," David whispered to her, holding her close. "They went out of their way to make your life miserable and I ended it. I've given you your freedom. I want to give you more. You just need to trust me."
Scarlet closed her eyes. "If I go back now, without that job, my parents will flip and force me to get another one that could be just as bad or worse. Hell, my dad can make money off of me by calling me incompetent and coming up with proof."
"Your parents won't say or do shit. Not unless they want a visit from the Big Bad."
Scarlet let out a little laugh. "The Big Bad?"
"Yeah."
"David, that sounds like something you would name your dick," Scarlet said with a slight smile.
The vampire grinned at her. "Maybe I have."
"You're hopeless."
"And yet, I'm giving you hope, aren't I?"
Scarlet nodded. "Yeah." She caught herself glancing at his lips and wondered why she was so drawn to them. "For some reason."
David smirked and kissed her softly, having caught her staring. Scarlet sighed against his lips and pulled him closer to her. David backed her against a tree and then lifted her so that she had to wrap her legs around him for support. The leader of the Lost Boys moved his hips in a rocking motion and Scarlet almost melted.
Could go somewhere else…leave these fuckers and the blonde behind…forget about the boat…
Scarlet felt David's thoughts swirl into hers, like he was trying to coax her into coming with him. And the thought was tempting. She would rather be with him than on a boat in the middle of the night. She really hated the idea of drowning.
David parted from her slightly when she started seriously coming up with thoughts about how to make the others disappear. He smirked and turned his head slightly.
"Bye you two!" Paul howled from a distance.
"We're off to take Felicia boating!" Marko called out.
"My dearest, are you going to be all right?" Felicia called out.
David glanced at her and Scarlet wet her lips. "Yeah, I'll be fine. You go – you go have fun!"
She held her breath until it was silent in the park, save the random car on the street. David eased her down and cupped her chin.
"So we're going to do this?" he asked, his voice low.
Scarlet nodded. "Yeah. Yeah we are."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Scarlet curled next to David on the bed, letting him softly kiss her. She'd had fun with him for the past hour and a half, learning very quickly that what had happened to her in the past, was nothing like what she had experienced with David. He was loving, demanding, passionate, and sometimes cruel in the way that he made love. She enjoyed every moment of it.
"I think you bit me," Scarlet muttered, rubbing her chest. "Twice."
David chuckled. "I did. Left a couple marks too." He stretched his body out. "You'll live."
Scarlet smacked him on the pec and then sat up. She kept her back to him as she tried to find all of her clothes. She knew her makeup was a mess. Hell, she might as well wipe it all off. She'd managed to get everything on the bottom portion of herself covered with clothes when David appeared behind her and cupped her breasts.
"Why are you hiding?" he asked, his facial hair brushing against her cheek.
"Because…because I need to," Scarlet whispered, staring straight ahead. "Because I don't have…I don't have the body that normal men like."
David turned her around in his arms. "Good thing I'm not a normal man."
He kissed her and then moved his mouth lower, to the places he had already paid so much attention to with his mouth. Scarlet shivered and let herself get lost in the sensation.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
David led the way into the hotel room still hours later. Scarlet was exhausted to the point that he had to support her as she walked. But it didn't stop her from noticing that Felicia was curled up in bed, surrounded by the other Boys, sound asleep. The other Boys had their eyes closed, but Scarlet didn't know if they were actually sleeping or not. Part of her didn't care.
"Looks like they had fun," David commented, leading Scarlet over to her bed.
"Meh," Scarlet whispered, quickly downing her pills and falling onto her bed. "I had more." She yawned. "Sleepy time now."
David chuckled and bent down, kissing her lightly. "Good night, Scarlet."
"Night…"
OOOOOOOOOOOO
David wasn't surprised that Scarlet fell asleep quickly. His ice blue eyes traced her face for a moment before he turned and looked at his Boys. They were watching him from Felicia's bed.
"So you got her," Paul said softly.
"Question is…can you keep her?" Dwayne asked.
OOOOOOOOOOOO
