…Decisions…
Genevieve's POV
When I woke up it early just before sunrise. I showered and dressed. Fred was in the common room rubbing his shoulders. I snuck up behind him started rubbing his shoulders. "That's what you get for roughhousing for hours after a Quidditch match." I scolded. Fred turned to face me. "Mmh, you didn't stop me."
I poked his arm "Would you have stopped if I had said something? No. Besides it seemed like you guys really needed it." A smile tugged at his lips and he pulled me closer. "You're right. We really needed it." I scoffed. "I could tell. I just used magic to get every one of you guys up to bed."
"Aww, is that why my face hurts?" he rubbed his face. I nodded. When I put him in his bed, I may have slapped him for making me do so much work. "Poor baby. Of course. do you know why? Because you made me do so much damn work Freddie." I slapped his arm. He grabbed his arm and pretended to be in pain.
"Should I hit you for real." I teased. He stopped pretending to be in pain. "Thanks for the massage." he sighed rolling his shoulders. I watched him for a minute before leaning closer. His eyes flickered up to mine. "FYI, I kissed you after I slapped you. You're smiled so prettily. It was so adorable. You didn't look a troublemaker at all. So…" he cut my teasing off with a kiss.
"I mean it. You looked happy." I mumbled. "I'm gorgeous. I know, but why didn't you wake us for dinner?" he complained. "We didn't feel like it." I muttered turning away. He pulled me over the couch he was on sitting me in his lap. "Sit for a bit. I just want to sit here with you for a bit." he murmured putting his head on my shoulder.
I ran my fingers through his hair. We sat there until the sun came up. "Hungry?" I mumbled. He nodded. "I'm getting the feeling I missed something great last night." he looked serious and lost in thought. I shrugged. "I passed out in the middle of dinner, so I don't know."
I stood up and walked over to the door. "You passed out? I wonder if you talked in your sleep again." he mumbled as we walked down the hall. I turned to him with a smile. "I don't think so." I insisted. He shook his head then stopped walking. "You passed out?" he looked worried.
"I think I must've fallen onto the floor or something." I groaned stretching my back. We continued down to the Great Hall joking and laughing. People pointed and whispered as I walked in. I sat down with a sigh. My friends snickered as they sat down.
"What happened last night?" George asked. Angelina snorted and Alicia choked on her juice. Haz bounced up and down in her seat pointing at the two of them. "No cussing today Eve?" Dianne asked as she walked by. Leslie and Ginny followed after her as Angelina and Alicia took turns telling the twins and Lee what happened last night.
Sensing danger, I busied myself with my food. "Oh! So, I'm a fucking idiot. Interesting." Fred muttered. I rolled my eyes. "Was I wrong though?" I scoffed. Fred opened his mouth to reply but changed his mind. "You were that tired? What would happen if say we made you play Quidditch with us?" George asked with a sly smirk.
I grabbed my legs and shook my head. "My skills are not Quidditch." I admitted. Hazel burst out laughing. "It was hilarious, but E does have a point. Quidditch isn't her strong suit. She has a better chance of staying alive if she's on the ground. Scratch that. Others playing have a better chance at living if she stays on the ground."
I blushed and used my hair to hide. "There's no way someone could be that bad at Quidditch." Oliver scoffed. Lee put a hand on his shoulder and shook his head. "She tried to get the Quaffle through the hoops but missed and knocked a bludger into the pole making all three hoops fall over nearly taking out 5 other people. Long story short Madam Hooch makes her run laps every time we play."
Fred, George, Angelina, Alicia, Katie, and Oliver gawked at me in a mixture of horror, amazement, and awe. I fidgeted nervously. "I apologized for almost hitting you Lee." I whined. The twins burst out laughing. "You call us bludgers but you're a natural disaster." George chuckled.
"Honestly, I don't even know how I managed to do it." I mumbled. Fred tapped my knee "The more important part is you used enough strength to knock a bludger, a bludger that moves of its own accord, with no bat into the poles knocking them over. Yet after all that you struggled to untangle me, George, and Oliver."
I frowned and thought about it. "I have no response available." I mumbled. The teasing continued into the next week. The twins were teasing me on our way to the lake after potions and I was slowly losing composure. The rest of our friends walked in front of us when they realized I was getting angry, which I rarely did.
I whirled around punching the tree behind them. Their eyes went wide as the tree creaked and groaned and fell to the side with a loud crash. I fell to the ground covering my face with my hands. "Oh no! Mum' going to kill me!" I whined rocking back and forth. Fred and George had yet to move while Hazel was already helping the tree back up and healing the damage.
The twins coughed and looked around. Lee, Angelina, and Alicia were still in a state of shock and hadn't noticed. I bit my lip, but small groans escaped my lips as I shook my hurting hand. "I think we should stop teasing Eve and Haz for the rest of our lives." George choked out.
Fred nodded quickly then knelt down where I was. "Are you ok?" he smiled. I examined my hand and nodded. Hazel was giggling and shaking the others. Fred helped me to my feet and George backed up. "Don't ever make her mad again!" George poked Fred. Fred raised an eyebrow as if that were obvious. I chuckled evilly. "I've only used that punch on you two, so that makes you naughty children." We continued walking until we found our normal spot.
I'd just gotten off the train after the winter break when Alicia tackled me in a hug. We hurried up to the castle to meet up with the others. I spotted Angelina before she saw us, and we ran over, and tackle hugged her. "Did you miss us?" Alicia asked.
"I would be lying if I said I didn't." she laughed. Hazel had already made it up to the castle with Oliver, so we went up to the dorm to talk about our holidays. "How did your parents react to the apprenticeship?" Angelina asked turning the topic to me.
I groaned and buried my head in a pillow. "That bad?" Alicia whispered. "You have no idea. They think because of my childhood trauma I should pick a different field. Besides pranks I've never shown anything else this much interest." I complained flopping back on the bed.
"What about Fred?" Alicia asked. "If I were to rank them. Nursing people back to health, pranks, Mia, you guys, Haz, Fleur, Latin, my siblings, food, my parents, my family, and Fred." I joked. They gasped and wiped fake tears from their eyes. "All I have to do now is convince them this is the right choice for me." I groaned.
"We've seen you helping out Madam Pomfrey. You're a natural. I think becoming a nurse or a doctor might be the best way to show them you've properly healed from the trauma." Alicia smiled. I launched myself across the bed hugging her tightly as happy tears coursed down my face.
"One of you want to explain why Eve was crying over Alicia yesterday?" Haz demanded at lunch the next day. Angelina explained since I'd busied myself with a report for Madam Pomfrey and Alicia started talking to Katie and Phyllis. Haz smiled but still hit my arm. "Why do I rank lower than the cat?" she asked pinching my side.
"Are you really questioning me? I thought it was well thought out." I tilted my head in confusion. She opened her mouth to object some more, but Angelina kicked us both under the table. I yelped and shot her a look, but she'd already started talking to George.
"Why did I rank at the end of the list?" Fred complained as we walked to class. He was getting upset and I was trying to decide if ignoring him would be best. He tugged at my robes and when that didn't work pulled me into a side hall that was empty. "We have to get to class." I reminded him.
He looked around and pulled me further down the hall. "Please at least tell me you were joking." He muttered. "Of course, I was joking. I still love you. You may not be the top of the list, but you rank above my parents." I shrugged.
He let out a sigh of relief. "Do I at least rank above food?" he nudged my arm. "Oh, sweetie none of my friends, Mia, or being a healer rank above food. You should know me better than that." I scoffed grabbing his hand and rushing off to class.
I'd lost count of the times I'd ignored him because of food or stopped talking to him because he took my food. Sometimes it was funny and other times I'd been so tired that I'd cried when he took my food.
Hazel's POV
I was woken from my slumber by noise in the common room. We'd won the Quidditch cup and had been partying for a while. I slid into my robe and followed my roommates back downstairs. There'd been another break in. McGonagall had come up to yell at us but when she heard Ron's story, she hurried from the room to get Dumbledore.
Groggy students filed into the Great Hall in confusion and rumors flew. Eve plopped on the floor using Alicia's leg as a pillow. She was quiet for a few minutes before her eyes flew open and she ran to the window. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I thought I saw my dad, but that's impossible. He's in Egypt right now." she muttered biting her lip.
Tired Angelina and Alicia sat down using each other as pillows. Eve and I laid down on their laps and went to sleep. Dumbledore came back in and made sleeping bags appear. We quickly got in and huddled close together before going back to sleep.
When I woke again, I was in Angelina's bag and Eve was in Alicia's. Our friends watched in amusement. "Is this how you guys sleep in your dorm?" George asked choking back a laugh. I managed a small sly smile. "No, we normally all share one bed." I teased. They choked, coughed, spluttered, went red, and turned away. I caught Oliver's eye and he shook his head. I climbed out of the sleeping bag and laid down by him.
"Yes?" I spoke softly. "Don't let their imaginations run wild like that." he mumbled. I smiled and poked his chest. "I wasn't letting their imaginations run wild. In fact, I don't think they'll question us again. I didn't get flustered they did." Oliver smirked. "And if they bring it up again?"
I hummed and grinned. "I'll let Eve or Angelina handle it then." He nodded closing his eyes. Students began to wake up and we were allowed to go back to the dorms. I showered and changed into some comfy clothes before lying down on E's bed.
Mia scampered over and started pawing gently at my arm. Her owner was still in the showers. I leaned over the bed and filled Mia's food and water dish. Something caught my eye. Fred's shirt was beneath her bed. I tugged at it and more of his things came spilling out. I had my doubts but now it was obvious she had taken his things. It was amazing and terrifying how she played it off like she knew nothing.
My roommates came back in chatting happily. Eve froze in the doorway when she saw me. I stood and pointed to the giant pile of Fred's things now out from under her bed. The others turned to her in shock. "Do you have something to say?" I asked nudging the pile with my foot. "I was planning on returning it soon." she said once she'd closed and locked the door.
She hurried over cleaning everything up. "You can't tell him. He won't let me live it down. I just wanted to irritate him a little, but then…" she broke off holding a worn journal in her hand. "Did you read it?" Cassandra Johnson, our other roommate, gasped her cerulean blue eyes going wide.
"Of course, I read it. I thought it was just pranks and jokes but there was other stuff too." Eve muttered. Angelina nudged the pile with her foot. "He wrote things in here that shocked me." Eve put the journal down with a sad sigh.
"Don't tell he wrote stuff about that bitch in there." Cass gasped as she tied her ruby red hair back into a ponytail. Eve shook her head. "Worse than that?" Alicia hurried over sitting on Eve's bed. E picked the journal back up and flipped to a bookmarked page. The date was before the cheating scandal and there was a picture of a promise ring.
"Merlin's beard! This is major." Cass whispered. I flipped the page. He'd even detailed how he was going to give her the ring. "What do I do? Do I pretend I haven't seen it? Should I tell him? I should tell him. I should confess my crimes against the pranking king." Eve stood up and started walking to the door.
Angelina tackled her to the floor. "Are you insane?!" I yelled. She tried to crawl to the door, but Cass and Alicia helped Angelina pull her back to her bed. "What do you think is going to happen when he finds out?" I whisper yelled.
"First return his things and then go from there. Pretend you don't know. I don't think now is a good time to lay it all out on the line." Alicia groaned. Eve nodded glumly. "Whitley!" she called out. The house elf appeared with a smile.
"Miss Genevieve called." the elf beamed from ear to ear. "I need you to help me with something, but you can tell mum and dad." Eve got down to eye level with Whitley. "The young miss wants me to lie to her parents again. They're still mad about the last time." Whitley tugged her ears and kicked her feet.
"I just need to return some things without the owner or his roommates noticing." Eve blushed pointing at the pile. "Young miss!" Whitley exclaimed falling backwards onto the floor. "I know, I know, believe me I know. It's a lot to ask, but Ruth and Ailward would turn me in faster than a Snitch disappearing at the beginning of a Quidditch match."
Angelina and Alicia smiled briefly. "Who's are these? The boy Mama Ruth mentioned? The one she smelled on you. Ah, this is dangerous young miss. I thought you were going to stay out of trouble." Whitley ranted.
Eve laid flat on the floor with her hands clasped towards the elf begging. "Please! Yes, they're his. Please?! I'll even make sure not to track dirt or motorbike grease in the house for 6 whole months!" Eve pleaded. The elf nodded reluctantly.
Eve sat up and started explaining where she'd taken everything from in detail so Fred wouldn't notice. Whitley disappeared and came back notifying Eve that no one was in the dorm. Faster than I would have thought possible the pile dwindled until all that was left was the journal and a box of sweets.
Eve handed them over with a sad smile. "This is the last thing young miss. I'll see you at the end of term. Try to behave until then." Whitley disappeared with a smile. Eve rolled around on the floor. Whitley appeared a few seconds later with a spatula in hand on top of Eve's back.
"There are things of his in your bedroom young miss!" the elf cried out in shock. "Can you take them to his house? He'll notice if everything is in his dorm." Eve smiled hopefully. Whitley hit the top of E's head with the spatula before leaving with a resounding crack.
I fell back on her bed. "When did you find the time to take all of it?" Alicia asked. Eve looked up shyly. "When you guys had practice and when he was in the showers. There were a few close calls too."
"By close calls you mean?" Cass raised an eyebrow. Eve blushed to the roots of her hair. "He came back from the showers earlier than I'd expected and I had to hide under his bed. It was so nerve wracking, and then he started getting dressed but he wouldn't leave." E rambled, squealing at the memory.
"I can't even with you right now!" Angelina groaned. "The water dripping down his chest." Eve smiled rolling around. "I think we should leave her to her erotic fantasies." Alicia mumbled stepping over Eve. She unlocked the door, and we left the room and went down to the common room.
We sat in a corner in silence. There was a gleeful squeal from our dorm. Lee raised an eyebrow and turned to look at us. "Was that E just now?" I put my face in my hands. Fred came bounding down the stairs looking agitated. "Ok, this is not funny. Someone took my things and then put them back. Who was it?" he yelled.
Lee groaned and slid down in his seat. "You've already questioned everyone, and nobody did it!" Lee muttered. Fred started pacing biting his lip as he thought it over. "I've never been so nervous in my life." Cass whimpered. Fred rounded on us. "Where's Eve?" he asked.
"I think she's lost in fantasy land right now. She was all giddy when I walked past her dorm." Dianne chuckled as she passed by with her friends. "She kept muttering the strangest thing about a shower." Leslie scoffed.
Fred folded his arms and smiled. "Did E say anything to you guys before you came down here?" he turned to them but kept his eyes on us. "No, not really she was sort of rolling around with a book in her hand. I think it was in Latin." Leslie sighed. Fred groaned and rubbed the back of his neck. "Eve was at the top of the suspect list."
I was sitting on a bench staring up at the sky. I'd already finished packing and was waiting on the others to come down from the dorm. I heard the sound of Eve and Fred bickering again. I groaned inwardly and sat up. They were poking at each other as they rounded the corner.
"I don't know what you're talking about Fred. Can we please drop it?" Eve gasped in exasperation. Fred sighed and hugged her from behind. "Why?!" he complained. "Because I said so. I'm not going to be your test subject. Test it out on yourself." she yelled. I watched as she stormed off.
Fred ran after her. The others came around the corner shaking their heads. "Honestly can you go get your brother. At this rate E's going to hit him." Alicia smirked. George ran after them and I got up and made my way over. "And you. You can't just sit there and watch. You should have said something." she rounded on me as I approached.
I hopped off the train and hauled my trunk off. Oliver hopped off after me. "Come visit over the summer." he whispered. I turned to him in partial surprise. "I thought you were joking about that." I gasped. "Of course not. Besides if you wait any longer mum and dad just might personally invite you over." he looked past me and waved at his parents. I waved too and turned back to face him.
"Let me clear it with my folks first ok?" I looked over to where my parents were waiting. "Should I ask? They really like me. They might agree faster if I do it." he teased. I shot him a playful look before rushing over to my parents.
Genevieve's POV
Dad and Matt had just finished putting up the tent at the World Cup and I went for a small walk. I ran into Fleur and some Beauxbatons students. I spent the afternoon talking with them about the upcoming match and France. As the sky darkened Fleur walked with me back to my campsite to say hi to my family.
We had a nice evening playing games and relaxing as the stars came out. I laid on the grass staring up at them. "Pretty. Aren't they?" a familiar voice asks sitting down beside me. Even in the darkness I know it's Fred. He lays down next to me and we look at the sky in silence.
"They're very pretty even though they're far away." I whisper. A light chuckle escapes his lips. "How'd you know I was here?" I ask rolling over to look at him in the dim light from a now lit lantern. "I was walking around earlier with George and Lee. I didn't think you'd be here Miss Natural Disaster. You passed by without even noticing. So rude." he teased.
I groan and put my head on his arm. "Sorry bout that. I wasn't really paying attention. Just walking around." I quickly apologize. He thumped my forehead. "How can you apologize for that but not for flipping me off?" he pouted. I shrugged. "I'm not apologizing for that." I sighed. He rolled over facing me.
"Fine. I won't make you apologize." he mumbled brushing my hair from my face. He leaned in closer until we our lips were almost touching. "If you look at me like that, I might forgive you." I mumbled. Our lips had just met when Harry and Ron came stumbling past.
"Sorry!" their eyes went wide as they stumbled away. Fred glared t their retreating backs. I put my head on his chest and gave him a quick hug. "You should get back before someone else from your family 'stumbles' past." I teased sitting up. He sat up and I leaned over kissing him one last time. "Good night Freddie." I whispered before going back into my family's tent.
Mum and dad were sitting at the table drinking tea when I walked in. They gave me a knowing smile. I rolled my eyes and went to bed. "You could've invited him in." Mum called after me. I rolled my eyes and got comfortable. My shirt still smelled like him and the grass we'd been laying on.
The next morning the grounds were filled with excitement before the final match. I helped mum prep breakfast as dad, Matthew, Dianne, and Leslie played around. "So, are you back together with that boy yet?" mum asked. I shook my head. "We agreed to wait 50 or maybe even 80 years." I lied with a straight face. Mum dropped the stack of plates she was holding.
"Sirius! Your daughter has gone insane!" she cried collapsing on the floor. Dad scoffed. "Genevieve stop teasing your mother." he scolded. "Don't worry mum they'll get back together soon. I'm sure of it." Leslie laughed and pretended to be asleep as Dianne wrapped an arm around her.
"Ooh, I smell gossip!" aunt Giselle giggled from the doorway. Dianne and Leslie ran over and hugged her. "Gossip galore. You wouldn't believe it. I barely believe it." Matthew snorted. Mum rushed over and started shaking Matthew trying to get details.
"Didn't uncle Remus tell you guys. He saw everything. I mean the whole school knows." Leslie frowned. I put breakfast on the table while dad repaired the broken plates. "Remus said nothing at all." dad pretended to be hurt.
I hugged his waist. "Don't worry! You missed absolutely nothing." I assured him. he eyed me carefully as I pulled mum off Matthew who was looking rather dizzy from the shaking. Everyone sat down for breakfast and I was relieved that the topic of Fred had not come back up. I went on a walk after breakfast. I paid attention this time and saw many familiar faces.
Angelina, Cass, and Alicia were chatting by a fire when I approached. I crouched behind them silently. "Harry and Ron were walking past my tent last night and I overheard them talking. They were looking for Fred and found him with E." Angelina giggled. Alicia gasped and Cass clapped with glee.
"Did they say anything else?" Cass nudged. Angelina shook her head. "Honestly, we were just star gazing!" I spoke up finally. They jumped and fell forward onto the ground. Cass smacked my shoulder once she'd recovered. "Bloody hell! How long have you been sitting there?" Cass demanded.
"Long enough." I replied sitting on her lap. "Just star gazing hunh. Where were you off to this morning then?" Alicia asked. "I was going to go prank Fleur's little sister, but I saw you guys first." I smiled slyly. Cass pushed me off her lap and I pouted. "Is Haz here too?" Cass wondered.
"She's greeting her future in laws." I chuckled. I stood and dusted myself off. "Time to go prank a kid and tease her sister." I smiled and skipped off in the direction of their tent with my friends behind me. I snuck up behind Fleur and hugged her.
"I brought a small gift for Gabrielle!" I giggled. I pulled a small box of sweets from my jacket pocket and shook it. Gabrielle came running from the tent and hugged me. "Sweets!" she cheered looking at the box.
"They aren't prank sweets this time, are they?!" she folded her arms and took a step back. "No, I only give those to naughty people now." I pinched her cheeks softly making her giggle. She jumped into my arms and I spun her around. Fleur and the others had begun talking while I played with Gabrielle.
Gabrielle popped one of the sweets in her mouth and beamed at my friends. "It's fantastic!" she squealed handing one to each of them. I smiled at them as they ate the sweets with the utmost care and reluctance. They bit into the sweets and they turned to me. "It's supposed to make you feel great. I started making them after I started my apprenticeship. The healers and the patients really like them." I smiled happily.
I spotted the twins and Lee watching us in amusement. Gabrielle looked at me then in the direction I was looking. "Do you know them?" she asked pointing at them. "We're acquaintances. You know classmates at school. I guess you could say we friends. Those are the naughty people I give the prank sweets now." I smirked.
Gabrielle gasped and hid behind me. "They like to prank and joke around just as much as I do, and they don't care how young or old you are. They act just like bludgers those twins and their friend is a great reporter." I continued as Gabrielle listened eagerly. Fleur eyed them and turned to Angelina who began explaining.
"Is she complaining about us?" George asked. Cass and Alicia nodded hiding their smiles behind their hands. "Bad boys!" Gabrielle waved a finger at them. I fell out laughing at the look of shock on their faces. "We're nice people." Lee muttered. "I didn't include you in the mean people category." I turned to Lee with a smile. Fred knelt down frowning at me.
"Tell her we aren't bad." he smiled hopefully. I turned to Gabrielle. "He's one of my acquaintances. His brother over there is my friend." I pointed them out. She nodded but still eyed them as she went back inside. "You did nothing to fix it." Fred groaned. I smiled and nodded.
"Do you guys mind if I borrow Eve for a moment?" Fred smiled. Alicia waved us off. Fred stood and waited. I joined him shooting my friends a glare. They smiled and waved as Fred grabbed my hand leading me away from any possible eavesdroppers.
"I need to ask you something in private." he mumbled as we walked through the tents. Well away from the others and any possible onlookers he turned to me with a serious expression. "Did your uncle tell your parents about the time he caught us in the hallway? They stopped by our tent a while ago and started asking questions. Me and Fred just got in trouble for pranking Harry's cousin Dudley and I don't want mum to have anymore things to yell at me for." he was rambling.
I put my hand over his mouth to stop him. "Uncle Remus never told my parents, but the whole school knows. In fact, it was probably my siblings if I'm being honest." I sighed running my fingers through my hair. Fred groaned. "I'm sorry. They were asking why you didn't just come in last night and then mum asked when me when are we getting back together, and it just went downhill from there. I'm so sorry they…" he pulled me to him catching me off guard.
"Should I go back and tell your mother it will be another 5 years maybe. You still haven't completely forgiven me. She'll love that idea. While we're at it I wont kiss you until you've forgiven me completely and we're back together." he smirked and walked off. I ran after him and jumped on his back.
"Fine. I'll be able to think so much better if you're not kissing me. It'll be so much fun watching you restrain yourself. Ooh, maybe I'll go on a date." I teased hopping off his back and running over to Fleur's tent. I hid behind her as he caught up. "Fred I'm guessing." she mumbled to me as he started complaining. I nodded.
"What do you mean E's mean?" Angelina smirked. "He started it. I finished it. now he has to deal with the consequences." I teased sticking my tongue out. Fred turned to his brother and friend for help, but they were rolling on the ground laughing. Fred groaned and turned to me, but I ignored him.
"You should get back before my parents ask more questions." I started pushing the boys in the direction they'd come from. "Yeah! Eve's mum might ask if you've ever slept in the same bed." Lee teased. Fred and I blushed. "Oh shush!" I muttered. Lee and George teased all the way to the Weasley tent.
"Oh, there you are Eve." Mum smiled. I frowned at her. "Where's dad?" I asked. She pouted and pointed inside. "Geez, I leave to go hand out sweets and all hell breaks loose." I muttered as we dipped inside.
Dad and Mr. Weasley were laughing at a table while Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny sat nearby watching. I put my hands on my hips and glared. Dad turned slowly and groaned. "There you are. Where did you run off to?" he asked trying to play off what he was doing. "Visiting Gabrielle and Fleur. What are you doing? Trying to get information I wouldn't give you?" I smiled. The two men looked down at the table. "I believe you met my wife before right Genevieve?" Mr. Weasley tried to break the tension.
"Met? More like saved Eve." George muttered under his breath. "Just came here to collect my parents. Hope you guys enjoy the game tonight. Sincerest apologies for them interrupting your family time." I smiled politely to Mr. Weasley. I grabbed Dad's hand and pulled him and mum from the tent. When we were halfway back to our tent, I turned to them. "What were you doing?" I whined.
"A little parental gossip never hurt anyone Eve." Dad muttered. "You slept in his bed, but you haven't forgiven him. He must be struggling a lot right now." mum shook her head sympathetically. I scoffed and took off towards the tent. I flung myself onto my bed.
It was the night after the World Cup and screams began to fill the air. They weren't the screams of happy people but of terror. I jumped out of bed and pulled on a pair of shoes and hurried to the tent entrance. Mum and dad ran inside pulling me after them. "Take your siblings and hide in the woods Eve. We'll come and find you later." dad kissed the top of my head before running to get the others out of bed.
Mum kept looking outside. Matthew, Dianne, and Leslie stumbled over still immensely tired. I pushed them in front of me and led them into the woods. The screams of terror woke them up and they hurried after me. I felt someone bump into me in the darkness. "Genevieve!" Gabrielle cried out tears streaming down her face.
I held out my arms and she jumped into them. We went further into the woods and ran into Fleur and some other Beauxbatons students. Fleur ran over and soon as she saw me. Gabrielle went into her arms. "What's going on?" Matthew asked.
I shook my head trying to catch my breath. "Death Eaters." I panted once I had caught my breath. I waved for everyone to move deeper into the woods. We made it to a larger group of people. I leaned against a tree and stared up at the dark sky. More people stumbled into the clearing and a small figure ran over to me.
Ginny hugged me tightly with tears streaming down her face. "I was so scared." she mumbled. I patted her hair and wrapped my arms around her until she was done crying. Ginny went over to talk to Leslie and Dianne. Fred tapped my shoulder. "You ok?" I asked.
"Fine." he mumbled. I turned to look at him. I wrapped my arms around his waist. "Liar." I scoffed. He was shaking. "I was worried about you." he chuckled. I put my head on his chest and sighed. His fingers brushed my cheek and I looked up. "I kind of wished I hadn't said I wouldn't kiss you until we were dating again." he tried to joke.
We went to sit with our friends. Oliver and Hazel stumbled over from the trees. "Where on earth were you two?" Alicia scoffed. "We were checking to make sure everyone was ok." Haz shrugged sitting down. I could barely keep my eyes open as the Aurors and Ministry officials walked around letting people know it was safe to return.
The others stumbled to their feet. I leaned back and closed my eyes. "You can't sleep there." Fred smirked. I got up and followed my friends back out of the woods. I stumbled a bit and Fred caught me. "You must be really tired, but you can't sleep out here." he teased.
"Can't I? The only place I can't sleep is in your bed." I whispered. Fred pulled me back so the others wouldn't hear us. "What is that supposed to mean?" he whispered. I stood on tiptoe putting my lips near his ear "I couldn't keep my hands to myself. I don't trust myself around you. I get too weak around you. Everything about you draws me in Freddie. Anyways, I should go to bed. I'm tired. See you later." I smiled and kissed his cheek before going back to the tent.
I leaned against the common room wall as everyone gossiped. Ginny kept shooting me looks all night after dinner. I nodded towards the dorm. I found her in my dorm on my bed. "What's up Gin?" I asked letting Mia out of her cage. "At the World Cup you and Fred talked and now he's acting weird. Like really giddy and happy. Are you two back together?" she asked hopefully.
I shook my head. "Not yet. We're getting there though. Give it time. Besides, he knows how I feel. I highly doubt I'll actually end up dating anyone other than him." I flopped onto my bed. "I'd love it if you guys got back together. He misses you more than he shows." she smiled.
I rolled over and looked at her in shock. "When you two first started dating you should have seen the way he lit up when talked about you to mum and dad. After the World Cup dad told mum that he'd run into your parents and they started talking and Fred couldn't talk much. What'd you say to him? He was flustered for at least a week." she smirked.
"Time for someone to go to bed." I smiled. I pulled her to her feet and led her to her dorm. I lay in bed that night fighting back a smile. I rolled over and fell asleep.
I had my head on Haz's shoulder at breakfast. "Still tired?" she asked. I nodded. Professor McGonagall handed out schedules. "Madam Pomfrey would like a word with you before class starts. Since you have my class first feel free to skip if necessary." she offered me a small smile as she handed over my schedule.
I nodded and slumped onto the table. "Oh, please no more sleep talk!" Professor McGonagall pretended to plug her ears. I blushed and covered my face with my hair. "I'll try my best professor." I smiled tying back my hair as I got up. I reached for my bag only to realize it was gone. I looked around. Alicia pointed at the door to the Great Hall.
Fred had just rounded the corner with my bag. I chased after him calling him. I just barely caught up. "I know you heard me calling you." I panted as he turned around. "How are you doing Miss Natural Disaster?" he smiled. I held my hand out for my bag. He took a step towards me and leaned down.
"Did you want your bag back?" he asked. I took a step back. He kept walking towards me until I had my back on the wall. "What did Ginny tell you? I saw you two disappear up the stairs last night." his eyes searched mine for an answer. I smiled and ruffled his hair. "Not telling." I smirked. I grabbed my bag and scooched past him.
"Go to class Fred." I pushed him lightly in the direction of McGonagall's class. He chuckled all the way down the hall. I slipped into the Hospital Wing unnoticed. Madam Pomfrey was in a meeting, so I put my hair up in a bun and started doing basic chores.
She informed me that I'd be helping her with any injuries picked up by the Triwizard Tournament Champions. I nodded. "Takes those books and read up. If you let your grades slip, I'll make you quit." she put her hands on her hips. I smiled and put the books in my bag.
While eating lunch I started reading the books. I was so wrapped up in the books I didn't realize my friends were talking to me. "Eve, are you going to tell us what happened earlier?" Cass nudged me with her elbow.
"Nope. I'm not." I mumbled continuing with my reading. They groaned. I heard Alicia mumble "Can you get her to talk?" Haz shook her head. I closed the book and stretched. Cass gawked. "You just started it 10 minutes ago and you're already done?"
I nodded and put the book back in my bag. "What? I have to keep up with my studies and assist Madam Pomfrey." I smiled. I took another book out of my bag. I felt my bag move and turned to see the twins rummaging through it. They took out all the books Madam Pomfrey told me to read.
"Give them back. I need to study." I went back to reading. My friends passed around the books trying to read them but giving up after the first sentence. "Genevieve, tell the truth. Are you a robot?" George asked. I jumped when he used my full name. "I am not a robot." I scoffed. "I can vouch for that." Fred mumbled. I kicked him under the table.
He gave a grunt of pain. "Did you say something Freddie?" George asked. Fred opened his mouth to repeat his statement and I kicked him harder. He gasped in pain and put his head on the table. "Are you ok? Do you need to go to the Hospital Wing?" Haz asked.
I looked up to find him glaring at me. "I'm fine as long as someone stops kicking me." he grumbled. I put my hands over my mouth and giggled. "Who's kicking you?" I gasped. He opened his mouth to answer but George and Lee changed the topic to the Tournament.
As we left the hall, I poked Fred in his side. He smacked my hand away. I tugged his robes and elbowed him. He sped up and went to talk to Lee. I smacked my lips and frowned. I was going to ask to talk to him later, but I guess that's off the table now.
The other schools were supposed to be arriving soon and I was excited and couldn't refrain from jumping up and down. I hurried to put my things away after class and rushed up to the Hospital Wing. "Rush anymore and I'll think you're hiding from Fred. Ooh did you two get back together?" she eyed me carefully.
"No, no we didn't." I muttered. She sighed sadly and sat in a chair. "I'm getting a feeling that everyone is betting on my relationship status." I mumbled. She waved me off. We went down to the Welcoming Feast after cleaning up. I slid in beside Alicia as Dumbledore started talking. I saw Fleur and Gabrielle waving and waved back.
After the Feast I made my way over. Gabrielle ran over and hugged me. "Nice to see you too." I leaned down and hugged her. She jumped on my back making me give her a piggyback ride. "Can I go up to your dorm?" Gabrielle asked. Fleur shook her head. "Mama was talking to your mother and they thought you'd be in his room and we wouldn't get to see you at all." Gabrielle pointed at Fred.
I stopped walking. "Is there some sort of bet or something going on that has to do with my love life and my work life? Everyone in this school, my family, and my friends keep asking me the exact same thing." I grumbled. Fleur shook her head. "Would you tell me the truth?" I asked Gabby. She shrugged. We talked until we got to the edge of the courtyard. "I'll see you guys later." I waved before heading inside.
I skipped back inside and ran into my friends. "We miss Gabrielle too!" Alicia pouted. "I asked them something, but they wouldn't answer me." I cleared my throat as we walked up to the common room. "It would seem there is some sort of bet on my love life. Is it true?" I asked looking at their faces. Fred gaped in shock.
My friends wouldn't meet my eye and when I turned to George and Lee their eyes were fixed on the floor. "Fucking hell you guys!" I muttered. Fred stood behind me as I glared at them. "I knew something was wrong. Everyone from my parents, other students, and even the teachers have been asking me when I was going to get back together with Fred. And you guys made a fucking bet!" I scolded.
"Umm, Angelina and I already lost, and it would seem Fleur is going to lose soon too." Hazel mumbled. I scoffed and turned to see Fred fighting a smile. "I lost a long time ago so can I go?" Cass asked. I turned to her in surprise. "I thought it would take 3 months for you two to get back together." she whispered fidgeting and playing with her hands.
Fred choked back his laughter behind me. "The other day I thought you two were going to get back together so I bragged a bit." Angelina confessed. I took a deep breath. "What are you talking about?" Fred took a step forward. I shot her a look and shook my head. I waved them off to bed.
They ran up to their dorms and I flopped onto a chair. "What was Angelina talking about?" Fred turned to me in confusion. "Nothing. Don't worry about it. I'll see you in the morning." I whispered getting up. Fred grabbed my hand and pulled me to him. I tsked and tried to move away. "Just a bit longer. I'd bet by this time next year you'll be mine completely again." he chuckled looking in my eyes.
"I don't think so. I'm sure I'll just date someone else." I mumbled. He put his finger under my chin forcing me to look at him. "Yet the last time we kissed it seemed like you'd love me forever." his voice was low and quiet so others couldn't hear. I shook my head and tried to ignore the fact that his voice made my soul quiver. "I still remember what you told me at the World Cup. You must be freaking out inside with me standing this close to you." he whispered running his fingers up and down my arms.
Hazel's POV
We watched Genevieve and Fred from the top of the stairs. I wished they'd speak up, but they spoke in whispers so quiet. "Is she going to stay in his dorm tonight?" Cass whispered. "That doesn't seem right." I muttered. They turned and gave me a look. "I remember when someone stayed in her boyfriend's dorm frequently." Alicia scoffed poking my arm.
I blushed and turned back to the scene below. They stood so close to each other. Just when they were about to kiss Adam and Zachary stumbled down the steps to the boys' dorm. Eve laughed and kissed Fred on the cheek before heading over to the stairs.
We bolted to the dorm just in time. I lay on her bed as she entered. She groaned when she the looks on our faces. She rolled me to the side of her bed. "How is my cousin in law doing?" she asked. I choked and rolled off her bed. "What are you talking about?!" I coughed. I crawled over to my bed.
"He isn't my cousin in law yet? Hmm, shame. Aunt Jane was talking about someone like she was getting married." Eve smirked before rolling over. I slid beneath my covers and hid. "Will he propose when you get off the train at the end of 7th year? Ah, perhaps Haz is hiding her engagement ring somewhere?" Eve giggled. I threw my pillow at her.
Gabrielle ran over to us the next morning when she spotted us in the courtyard. "Did Genevieve sleep with Fred last night?" she asked. Eve coughed and shot the young girl a shocked look. "No, but I think they were close." I teased. Eve bit back her words and grabbed her bag.
"Where are you going?" I asked. "Madam Pomfrey thinks people who are underage will find a way over the age line. I need to help her with anyone who sees what happens when they try to break the rules." she smirked. "The naughty ones you told me about?" Gabrielle asked. Eve nodded. Gabrielle turned and tugged Alicia's robes.
"Mama and aunt Aithne said Hazel was engaged. Is it true?" she asked. I coughed and spluttered. "Can I play with you guys today?" she asked. Cass nodded. Eve and I still had yet to recover from her questions. "I only just met his parents this summer. Why would I be engaged already?" I scoffed looking at Eve.
She was staring at the ground. "Just go talk to him already." I nudged her toward the castle. "Did I say something wrong earlier?" Gabrielle asked a hint of sadness in her voice. I shook my head. In potions Snape had made us smell different potions to familiarize ourselves. Eve had to smell Amortentia. She was mumbling something about fire, country air, and sweets.
"I need to go up to the Hospital Wing. I'll see you guys at dinner." Eve sighed jumping up and hurrying off with a wave. I laughed and turned to the others. We went down to the lake and spent the day playing with Gabrielle. It was kind of funny watching the other try and catch her as she ran around.
The school was buzzing when the Champions were announced. I sat next Angelina at breakfast. "How do you guys think Harry's name ended up in the Goblet of Fire?" Cass asked. I shrugged and turned to look down the table. Eve was giggling at something in her lap. "Did you knick something from Fred again?" Cass scoffed.
Lee who had just sat down gasped in shock. "All that stuff last year, was you?" he demanded. "I did not knick this from anyone. I was getting ready to send these off to family and coworkers." she pouted at Cass ignoring Lee's question. She held up the pictures. They were all of the people who had tried and failed to get past the age line.
"I thought I'd send them to my friends at St. Mungo's. they say laughter is the best medicine." she smiled. Lee tapped the table in irritation. George and Fred sat down looking rather happy. "What's up?" George asked looking around. Lee opened his mouth to speak but Angelina kicked him under the table. A gasp of pain left his mouth, and I stifled a laugh.
"Nothing. Just looking at these photos I took." Eve smiled showing them the photos. They gasped. "This is my favorite one out of all of them though." her smile widened as she held up a picture of the twins with their beards. They lunged for the photo and she pushed them into a bowl of yogurt. The hall erupted into laughter as they emerged slowly dripping yogurt onto the table, floor, and their robes.
Just realizing what she'd done Eve clapped a hand over her mouth. She put her things in her bag and left. The twins wiped the yogurt from their eyes and started to get up. Lee hurried after them trying not to laugh.
I sighed and kept eating. There was a loud crash that made the ground shake a little. I groaned. "What was that?!" Cass muttered. "Genevieve!" Gabrielle yelled running from the hall to chase the sound. I exchanged looks with my siblings and cousins. I ran into the hall and saw Eve running down the hall.
"You know the drill." I told Matthew. He left with the rest of them to go see what happened while I chased after Eve. I caught up with her and she turned and buried her head in my neck. "Why is he such an idiot?" she cried. I wrapped my arms around her. "Fred?" I whispered. She nodded.
"They kept pestering me to test out their new product in exchange for an apology for the yogurt incident. I was shocked by the prank and accidentally used my fire and it exploded. I yelled at them and ran away." she sniffled wrapping her arms around me. I patted her back until she was done crying.
"So why are you crying?" I asked brushing her hair from her face. "Some stupid things were said, and I want to go apologize but I don't know how or when I should go about it." she whined. I walked her up to the Hospital Wing. She started working without saying anything. "Another fight with Fred?" Madam Pomfrey guessed. I nodded and we both sighed sadly.
"She'll probably be on the quieter side today. She accidentally used her fire again. I'm going to see if the others are ok?" I mumbled. She nodded and went to her office. I had barely taken two steps out the door when I saw Fred. He looked torn. "You know you shouldn't provoke her. What were you thinking?" I whispered.
"I wasn't obviously. We were just joking around, and I knew she was getting a little upset, but I just ignored it. next thing I know we're all lying on the ground and she's calling me an idiot and crying. I should've run after her, but I just laid there still joking around." he sighed heavily. He ran his fingers through his hair sighing in frustration.
"Is she really mad?" he mumbled. "At herself, yes. At you, yes. She hates hurting you and you know that. Yet you keep pushing her. What the hell. Now she's all upset and in there trying to figure out how to apologize to you. You should be apologizing to her." I scolded folding my arms.
He groaned and hit his head on the wall. "Give her a bit to calm down before you go in there. No one was hurt right?" I asked. He shook his head and looked at the Hospital Wing doors. "I'm not going to get her to forgive me if I try to joke my way out of it am I?" he wondered. "You already know that too. Go on. Go apologize!" I pushed him towards the doors.
He shook his head and took a step back. "Get yourself together man! Do you want her to really never forgive you for 80 years?" I muttered. He thought about it and shook his head. He took a deep breath and went inside. I heard Eve gasp and Madam Pomfrey came rushing out closing the door behind her. "I have never seen those two so tense in all these years." she gasped rushing off down the hall.
