The next morning greeted Nathan with a cramp in his neck and two faces hovering over him.

"Dude you don't look comfortable at all" Dana stated, looking down at him with an apologetic smirk. Nathan let out a groan, taking Dana and Wade's hand to get up. His eyes widened when he suddenly felt himself get yanked off the ground harder than expected and get thrown into the opposite wall. Wade who was still held on to him went along and crashed into him, making both of them groan in pain.

"I am so sorry" Dana muttered, rushing over to them and helping them up again, much gentler this time. "I'm still not used to my new strength and forget half the time to hold back!"

"It's alright" Nathan assured her, wincing slightly as he stretched. The impact had hurt he wouldn't lie and Wade slamming into him wasn't doing any favors. Wade on the other hand had spared from the bulk of the pain of impact, thanks to a certain witch cushion. "Let's go and get something to eat. I'm hungry"

"Not before you brush your teeth" Dana cut in, hands on her hips and face a disapproving frown. Nathan gave a snort and looked to Wade, who looked positively ready to run off. He rolled his eyes and patted the boy on the back.

"You go first," he told the boy and Wade gave a nod and was in the bathroom right after. "You scared him" Nathan threw an accusing playful glare at Dana.

"I did?" Dana asked, feigning surprise. "That was totally not my intention" she added and Nathan rolled his eyes at her once more.

"Jesus Dana" he shook his head. "Wade's a good guy. You'll see once you get to know him" he added. The blonde gave a slight shrug of her shoulders.

"When are we going to get my room?" she asked, changing the subject and making Nathan sigh.

"Right about after I have my breakfast" he informed her. Once Wade had come out, Nathan had gone in to freshen up. His eyes were red he saw in his reflection in the mirror. A sigh fell his lips as the memory of last night came to him. He hadn't slept long, his mind mulling over the words of The Necromancer and keeping him awake. The man knew about him. Or rather his coven. Nathan had thought that he was the only one, the last of his line with magic considering his mother had no siblings nor magic. But the Necromancer's words had ignited a flicker of hope that there were more of them out there. And maybe some of them were better with their abilities than he was.

He looked away from the mirror and down at the sink where the water ran freely into from the tap. He collected some and splashed his face before taking his brush, wetting it, and putting toothpaste on.

He placed the brush in his mouth and looked up. His eyes widened seeing the form of a woman stood behind him, a shadow and nothing more. He turned around and found nothing behind him, no shadow, no outline even. He turned back to the mirror and saw the shadow still there. His eyes narrowed and he leaned closer to the mirror. The shadow did not move, its edges flickering like a flame. He leaned closer to the mirror before moving away.

"Who are you?" he asked, the toothbrush still in his mouth. There came no reply but Nathan noticed the shadow fidget. He took a deep breath and let out a sigh before choosing to brush his teeth. His eyes never left the figure whilst he brushed his teeth, studying it, thinking about what it could be. It had not done anything to him as of yet. And he was beginning to doubt whether it would do anything.

Finished with washing up he left the bathroom, finding Wade and Dana waiting for him just outside. "You certainly took your time" the blonde stated. She narrowed her eyes then scrunched her nose. "Are you not going to shower?" she asked, her voice a little higher than normal.

"After breakfast. I am very hungry" he informed the girl. "Now come along. We also need to go and get your room" he spoke and pushed the other two out of the room. Before he had left the room himself, he looked back in the bathroom. He saw nothing there, but he could feel that something was watching him.

Classes were canceled for the day, preparatory leave for the coming exams being the reason behind them. So, the students were out and about the hallways, talking with one another and hanging around. The kitchens weren't as busy and the trio did not have any issues getting their food. After they had gone to the headmaster's office, finding Dorian there instead.

"Mr. Williams. Where's the headmaster?" Nathan asked, making Dorian turn and face him.

"The headmaster is out for some important business. I'm filling in for him, so how can I help you guys?" the librarian asked, smiling at his students.

"My room" Dana stepped up, "I was here to pick up the number for my room?" she stated, making it sound more of an inquiry than a statement. The librarian gave a nod and moved to the headmaster's desk. He looked through a few files before pulling one out and looking through it. He informed them where it was and the three walked out with a chorus of thank you.

Dana as it turned out was getting a room to herself, something she liked very much. The two helped her settle in before Nathan excused himself to go and get a shower, promising to come back after.

The moment he stepped inside his room he felt like he wasn't alone in there. There was no one there but he felt as if eyes were watching him. Shrugging the feeling off Nathan went on picking clothes to wear before jumping in the shower. The cold water hit his face and he shivered when it ran down his body. A soft hum escaped his lips as he began singing, a habit he had from a very young age.

The clatter of toothbrushes made him stop humming and he looked out to see if he had forgotten to lock the door and Wade had come in. There wasn't anyone there. Frowning he went back under the shower, resuming his humming. Finished with his shower he stepped out and his eyes immediately fell on the mirror. There it was, that symbol, the crescent, the full and the waning moon. Nathan looked around, finding no one to be there but him. He went to the mirror and touched the symbol without any hesitation.

But he saw nothing this time. Frowning he pulled his hand away and touched it again, the results were the same. A frustrated huff fell from his nose and wiped the symbol away before dressing himself and walking out of the bathroom. Dana and Wade were waiting for him in his room, both of them looking quite disturbed.

"You guys, alright?" Nathan asked, raising an eyebrow at his friends. Wade gave a shrug while Dana did not meet his eyes. "Guys" Nathan called, his voice sounding more serious now than before. "Talk to me. What happened?"

"Kaleb and his Vampires dropped by to welcome me" Dana gave a shrug. "Let's forget about that. You promised to help with my studies" she got up and moved to his study table. Nathan looked at her in confusion, not exactly remembering such a promise. But he ignored that and moved to his table as well.

"You're gonna need your things if you want to study" Nathan pointed out. He noticed her stiffen and his eyes narrowed on her. "Come on, let's go and get your stuff"

"No!" Dana exclaimed, her eyes taking the telltale Vampiric features. She froze again and began to breathe to calm herself. "I mean, I can study from your books don't worry" she stated, trying to sound calm. But she couldn't fool her friend, especially when her veins were still darkened and pulsing.

"Dana" Nathan sounded calmer than her, but his look told anything but that story. "What happened?" he asked. Dana did not reply so he turned to Wade. "Wade" Nathan called out to him. Dana threw Wade a warning look and the boy shrunk slightly. Frustrated by both of them Nathan glared. Then he thought about what Dana had said when he had asked them the first time. Things cleared up for him.

"Sit here" he muttered and stepped out of the room. Dana with eyes wide now rushed out of the room after Nathan and overtook him with ease.

"Nathan, do not" the blonde hissed, putting a hand on his chest to stop him.

"Dana, move," Nathan told her coolly, leveling a glare at her. But the blonde did not move. Instead, she pushed against him.

"No" she hissed, "and you're not going there either. Things will only get worse!"

"For them yes" Nathan growled but Dana did not move from her spot.

"Don't, please" she muttered, less harsh this time. Nathan looked at her with furrowed eyebrows before he took a deep breath to calm himself.

"Why don't we go somewhere to catch our breaths" Wade came up from behind, putting a hand on Nathan's shoulder. Dana threw him a grateful look while Nathan sighed. Agreeing with Wade he let the two of them take him out of the building, avoiding any Vampire on their way out.

The old mill behind the school was empty, much to the delight of Wade and Dana. "Now let's forget about whatever inside the school" Dana declared, taking a seat on an old wooden bench. "Tell me about what I missed here. And especially about the exciting things"

"Well there was the Gargoyle attack" Wade pointed out and Dana gave him a curious look.

"Go on" urged the blonde Vampire.

"Well a Gargoyle broke into the school to find this very ancient knife" Wade began after giving Nathan a nod and smile. "Lizzie Saltzman got slashed and was afflicted by Greyscale"

"Greyscale is?" the blonde asked.

"It's a magical sickness of sorts where the one affected by it slowly turns to stone" Nathan explained.

"Should have let her suffer for it" Dana muttered and Nathan gave her a displeased look.

"Anyways, Nathan here was able to track it down and helped Hope and Josie in taking it down" Wade finished.

"I didn't track it down" Nathan shook his head. "It was anti magical people. So, it was hunting the magical people down. It tracked us and we took it down" he explained.

"A Gargoyle. And then that thing that killed me?" Dana asked and both Nathan and Wade nodded their heads.

"It was an Arachne. Giant humanoid spider creature. It wears the skin of humans to blend in with the rest. It was after the knife as well. It killed Conner and wore his skin all day at school"

"And almost killed me" Dana injected. A moment of silence followed that statement. "What did they tell his parents?"

"Probably an animal attack" Wade shrugged. "That's what they always say"

"You guys are missing out on a very important part here" the new voice made them all turn to the entrance and Dana stiffened. Kaleb had entered the room and was watching them with an amused expression. "Your buddy Nathan there compelled me into turning you" he added.

"Got a taste of your own medicine there" Wade muttered and Kaleb snorted.

"What do you want Kaleb?" Nathan asked, glaring at the Vampire.

"Easy there tiger, I come in peace. Sort of" he turned to Dana. "I was just here to check in on my newest addition. I heard she didn't get along with the rest of her brothers and sisters"

"My brothers and sisters as you say were not welcoming" Dana countered, throwing her own glare at the Vampire representative. Kaleb chuckled at that.

"They just remembered what a bitch you were back when you were a human" Kaleb shrugged, "call it having a taste of your own medicine" he added. Dana growled at him, her eyes shifting and her veins popping out. She rushed at the Vampire but was caught halfway when Kaleb rushed her and grabbed her by the throat. Nathan and Wade stood up, Nathan glaring at the Vampire.

"Let her go Kaleb" Nathan warned, eyes flicking from Kaleb to Dana then back to Kaleb.

"Take a chill pill there Nate" Kaleb cooed, "I'm just giving Dana a warm welcome to the Vampire faction" he let her go and Dana staggered backward. "Don't jump anyone here. They won't go easy on you" he warned before walking out normally. Nathan and Wade came up to her, Nathan putting a hand on her back.

"You alright?" he asked.

"You should have let me die" the whisper had come to him as a surprise. Nathan looked at Dana who had her head down and was biting her bottom lip harshly.

"Dana?" Nathan asked and the Vampire turned to him, her eyes now filled with tears. The two looked at one another before Dana let out a small sob.

"That day you should have let me die!" she shouted at him, hands clenched into fists. Her outburst had surprised Nathan further, who was looking at her with wide eyes. "These guys won't take me in cause suddenly I'm a Vampire and they'll forget everything I did to them in the past! I won't get accepted here, I have no place at home. I'm nothing but a monster now!" she shouted before falling to her knees and breaking down. Nathan walked over to her, kneeling in front of her. He put his hand on her shoulders and breathed out softly.

"Dana" he called out to her but got no response. "Dana, look at me," he said, still no reply. "Dana!" he added a bit of force to his tone and the Vampire looked at him slowly. "Talk to me. What happened at home?"

Dana sniffled, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. "My mom, she looked okay. She seemed okay with me turning into a Vampire. Even my dad did when my mom told him. But at night I overheard them talking. They were saying that I was now just a blood-sucking leech, nothing but a monster. That their daughter was now gone and that was now just something parading as her. And that as soon as I was gone they were going to be safe and relieved" she shook her head.

"I thought that once I got here that I'll be accepted. That I won't have to worry about them anymore and can be out of their hair for good. But nothing changed! I'm an outcast here and I have no one. My home life is gone and there is nothing here! I'm alone and just, why did you have to save me?" she looked at him, her eyes red and tears spilling out of them.

"You're not alone," Nathan told her flat, looking her right in the eyes. "Your parents are assholes and don't understand that you are still you, with a few extra perks. And the idiots here will get over it. Then they'll welcome you in as one of them"

"And if they don't?" Dana asked, her voice cracking with emotion.

"Then I'll smash their heads" Nathan grinned. "You're not alone silly. You've got me. And I'll fight for you till the end. I'll even fight your parents for you if I have to" he wiped her tears away for her this time. "And you asked me why I saved you? It's because you are my friend. And if I don't look after my friends then what kind of a friend would I be?"

Dana's lower lip wobbled before she leaned into him and wrapped her arms around her for a hug. Nathan hugged her back, whispering soft comforting words into her ear, his hand rubbing her back.
