Gohan blinked several times before he could register Master Roshi's answer.

"WHAT?!"

"You heard right my boy. What makes you think you could take after Son Goku? I just won't train anyone you know." He said smirking at Gohan.

"That's not fair old man! You agreed to train Gohan if he ever came to this world. Don't punk out now!" Asuka said losing her patience.

"Did I say that? I can't remember if I said that…"

Asuka grabbed him by his shirt and started shaking him. "That bouncer was right you are an asshole! Why did I go through all the trouble if you were just gonna act like this!"

"I will not let you violate me!" Roshi tried shoving Asuka away, but managed to push his hands onto her breasts. A cold chill passed through the streets. Asuka's face grew red with anger and embarrassment, even Gohan was silent throughout the interaction.

"Who the hell is violating who?! RAAAAAA!" Asuka spun him around several times, then flung him into a wall.

"Wasn't that a little too much Asuka," Gohan asked looking at the beaten old man.

"He does this a lot more than you think. He goes to clubs, somehow gets banned from nearly all of them, then has the nerve to cry and complain. Don't tell me you feel sorry for this old perv."

"Well…"

"Today just isn't my day…" Roshi dusts himself off and adjusts his glasses once more.

"Would you like for me to jog your memory old man? I've been wanting to knock that stupid look on your face for a long time."

"Alright, I'll make you a deal. Follow me, we'll be going outside the city." Roshi picked up his stick and walked away from the two.

"Now's we're talkin!" Asuka ran after him.

"This got outta hand pretty fast. Oh well…" Gohan shook his head and followed.

Master Roshi brought them outside of Yusnaan and into an open field away from the people and city buildings. The area contained many trees and a stream that leads further down the path.

"This spot should do. Now then," he turned back to look at them. "I want you two to come at me with all your strength. If you manage to land a clean hit on me, I will train the young boy. That shouldn't be too difficult I'm sure."

"This'll be a cinch. How about it Gohan?"

"I would object to doing something like this. However…" Gohan got in his fighting stance. "He was Goku's master, so I'm sure he possesses a lot of skill despite his age."

"Don't push yourself too hard Gohan. You haven't recovered completely from Kentaro."

"Right, I won't."

Roshi smiled at himself then waved them over challengingly. "Let's begin."

Asuka got a head start and dashed at Roshi. She cocked her fist back and aimed right at his nose.

"Eat fist old man!"

He sidestepped the punch with ease, but Asuka was quick to follow up. She pivoted her back leg and spun around trying to catch him as he was evading her punch.

"Nice reflexes." Roshi caught Asuka's leg and flipped her, causing her to land on her butt.

"Damn you!"

"Looks like I'm up!" Gohan charged at Roshi and delivered punch after punch after strike after strike. Roshi didn't exude much energy however. He was dodging, parrying, and sidestepping all of Gohan's attacks. Roshi slipped another punch and bopped Gohan in the face with his stick.

"That hurt!" Gohan said rubbing his face.

Asuka came into Roshi's blind spot but quickly had her foot swept from under by Roshi's stick. She landed hard on the ground once more.

"Impressive coming where I can't see, but I still have all my senses. That's more than enough to counterattack." Roshi threw his stick in the air, caught it, then jabbed Gohan with it.

"Woah!" Gohan barely dodged his stick, and more strikes started coming from all angles. He carefully watched his attacks, and his dodging was getting better.

"Nice moves their sonny! Looks like you have some degree of skill," Roshi complimented. "Almost had me there!"

Asuka tried attacking when Roshi's focus was on Gohan. Her momentum carried her forward, but once again Roshi was one step ahead and tripped her up.

"Oh dammit!" Asuka dove head first into Gohan, causing her to fall on top of him.

"Both of you possess really good martial arts, especially you Asuka. Nowhere near as good as mine hehehehe."

"I just got careless that's all. Don't get too cocky."

"Speaking of careless, you mind getting off me. You're kinda heavy." Gohan said looking away from her.

"Oh yeah sorry about that. Wait a minute did you just call me fat?!"

"I didn't say that!"

"You have such a way with words. You won't get a girlfriend talking like that." She stood up and helped Gohan to his feet.

"So Gohan…" Asuka and Gohan both looked towards Master Roshi. "Why are you looking to fill Goku's shoes? Claire must've told you what happened all those years ago."

"Claire? That must be Lightning's real name. She told me everything from the Guardians, to the war with the Saiyans, and Goku becoming this world's moon. I just recently came to this world and all of this is still new to me. If by some chance I do have Goku's power, his Saiyan blood, then I wanna utilize that to the fullest. I ask you again Master Roshi!" Gohan bowed deeply to him. "Take me on as your student!"

Master Roshi walked back and forth contemplating to himself. Gohan was shaking a little, afraid of what his answer might be.

"Alright, I've made up my mind."

Gohan lifted his head in suspense.

"I'll train you if I can get a little touchy feely with Asuka hehehe."

All the color drained out of their faces. Gohan slowly turned Asuka for any sort of help.

"Don't look at me!" She shouted.

"It was worth a shot…"

"No touchy feely time no training. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be heading back home. This old man has done too much moving around for one day."

Master Roshi walked pasted them and headed back into the city. Their was nothing Gohan could say to stop him. He clenched his fist in frustration.

"If you still want to try and challenge me, that opportunity to land a blow on me is still available. I will not train you until you can accomplish that. Understand?"

Gohan looked back at Roshi and smiled to himself.

"Yes, I accept your challenge."

"Good, then I'll see you here tomorrow Son Gohan." Roshi continued walking and left the two by themselves.

"Son Gohan? That sure is a fancy title."

"Sorry Gohan but I was not gonna let him try to lay his old wrinkly hands on me. A delicate maiden like myself can't be tainted by those type of things."

"I don't know about delicate. I've always thought you looked like a gang mediator. No offense though."

"Haha, I'm not sure if I should be flattered or put you in a headlock. Anyways, the old man has agreed to help you and that's what matters."

"Lightning also mentioned someone named Hope. She said he would take care of my spirit energy training. Who is he?"

"He's Lightning's errand boy to the Unova region. He must be out on business, but you'll see him tomorrow."

"Is errand boy really the right word?"

"Well aide is more appropriate. He takes care of the legal matters and issues that happen around this region."

"He sounds like a busy man. I feel bad taking away his time to train me."

"No worries. You're the guy who's gonna save the world right? It shouldn't be a problem. Now it's time to get back to our world." Asuka held her hand out for Gohan to grab.

"Will I learn how to do this too," he asked taking her hand.

"Of course. You'll need to learn how to do this if you wanna come here on your own. You need your spirit energy to guide you to the human world, and focus on that." They both closed their eyes, and moments later they transported back to their world.

"Thanks for bringing me back home but why are we in your house?" Gohan looked around only to be back in Asuka's living room. Asuka stretched her arms and yawn loudly.

"I didn't feel like having to walk if I transported us anywhere else. All I gotta do is walk up those stairs and I'm home free." Asuka stuck tongue out in a playful way.

"So you're making me walk home. Oh you shouldn't have…"

"Hey what's with all the racket down here?"

Han came downstairs drying his hair with a towel.

"Dad you ass why are you coming out the shower naked?!"

Asuka pointed to her dad who had nothing on but a towel underneath.

"What? I didn't hear you come in so I thought it was just me and your mother. Hmmm? Oh you're here too Gohan?"

"Hello Mr. Kazama. Asuka was giving me a hand in the spirit world."

"Spirit world huh. So now you know the truth about yourself."

"Yeah. I've accepted it and willing to do whatever to achieve that goal."

"What is this goal you speak of?"

"I want power. Power to change myself for the better and change the fate of others."

Han and Gohan looked at each other for a long time. Han's laughter finally broke the silence.

"Now that's what I'm talking about! Such a manly answer. Unfortunately for you though, all the power in the world won't grant you THIS PHYSIQUE!" Han started flexing his rippling muscles. Asuka hung her head in embarrassment, while Gohan's eyes were glued on Han's rippling muscles.

"Do you see the muscles rippling Gohan! This is what a man should look like!" All of Han's flexing caused his tower underneath to fall as well. They all stared at each other in an awkward silence. "I guess down there is rippling too. Did you see how the towel couldn't handle my rippling- AHHHHH!"

Asuka quickly kicked her father down in his rippling area.

"Alright show's over time to go Gohan GET OUT!" Asuka flung the door open and kicked Gohan in his back.

"Ouch! Alright I'll see you later."

"See ya!" She slammed the door so hard it made Gohan flinch. He sighed and started walking home.

Those rippling muscles were really something though…

Han was rolling around on the carpet floor holding his jewels. Asuka crossed her arms and started tapping her foot.

"Get up you big baby I didn't even kick you that hard."

"Yes you did. I haven't trained that hard down there apparently. Guess I'll need to work out a little bit harder with you mother…" Han gave Asuka a pervy look that reminded her of Master Roshi. A vein appeared in Asuka's forehead as her patience was wearing thin.

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that, go upstairs, take a shower, and get ready for bed. You can stay curled up on the floor and think about how stupid you look naked. Humph!"

"Hold on a moment." Han grabbed Asuka's leg before she went up the stairs. He had an austere look on his face.

"What could you possibly want now? And you can't make a serious face naked please stop…"

"Listen to me Asuka. Keep a careful watch on Gohan. I looked into his eyes and saw a man who is hungry for power. That can go both ways. I need you to watch him."

"He doesn't seem like that type of person. Aren't you just overreacting?"

"I wish I was, but I've seen too many people crave power. It never ends well with them. I believe him when he said he wanted to use his power to protect and save others. Having too much power can control a man's mind. I want you to protect him so he doesn't lose himself."

Asuka looked into her father's face and saw no trace of playfulness nor taking the situation lightly. She thought back to Gohan's words inside the cathedral.

I was unhappy for a long time. I didn't have the power to change the outcome of my situation, and I became a burden to myself and to others. I've always wanted power, and that power can make things possible that words couldn't. Asuka coming to Tokyo, to my school, has changed me this past month. If not for her, I probably would've given up.

Han's grip on Asuka's ankle got tighter. "Promise me!"

"Alright alright I promise now back off!" Asuka kicked him in his mouth, releasing his hold on her. She ran up the stairs and into her room.

"I would've taken that more seriously if he had some pants on. Still, dad has a point. What Gohan said about wanting power, it could be misleading. He might want that power all for himself and turn on everyone." Asuka bit her nails nervously. "I don't see him being a bad person though. Then again, I don't know what his life was like before I moved here, only what Gohan and the others told me. Ahhhhh this is so annoying!"

The school day went by like a blur for Gohan. Students applauded his performance against Kentaro and showed concern after seeing his injuries. He kept his replies short and didn't want to converse with anyone about the matter. The only time he was at peace was on the rooftop with everyone else.

"You're the most popular student right now Gohan. How does it feel being in the limelight?" Setsuna asked jokingly.

"I don't like it if I'm being honest. They're only congratulating me now that the threat has been taken care of. If Asuka were here, they would be all over her instead of me." Gohan got up and looked out into the distance, the wind blowing through his hair. "I don't care one way or the other if my actions make me popular. I did it because I saw Asuka in trouble, and I was fed up with all the bullying. That's why I've been training so hard so nothing like this ever happens to me again."

"Hey hey no need for all the sad depressing talk," Ayame said getting up and slapping him on the back. "Kentaro is gone and that's all that matters. From what I seen you were pretty kickass handling those goons. Asuka's training must be working wonders for you."

"Thanks Ayame. I know I'm capable of much more."

"I hope Asuka's grades don't suffer after her suspension." Mai said after closing the lid on her lunchbox.

"She doesn't look it but she's pretty smart," Setsuna remarked. "Besides, she asked me to bring her schoolwork to her house so she won't fall behind. I have training today so it won't be a problem."

"You're still competing for the Dream Fighting competition right Setsuna," Mai asked.

"You know it! I really feel like I have a shot at winning. I've been training twice as hard so I'm ready for anything now. Besides, I have a score to settle with a couple people. If I know them like I think I do they'll compete this year."

"Someone's fired up over there. You gonna cheer for her Gohan?"

Gohan didn't respond. He became lost in his own thoughts.

I'll be training with Asuka and the others today, afterwards I'll be going to the spirit world to train with Master Roshi. Hope will be teaching me how to use spirit energy. I only have two months to train with them, after that it'll be all up to me. I'm sure I can-

"It's rude to ignore us ya know!" Ayame grabbed Gohan's cheeks and stretched them out.

"Ow ow ow! Hey I was listening!"

"Then what did I just ask you?"

"If I would cheer for Setsuna at the Dream Fighting tournament!"

"Good boy! Glad to see we're on the same page." Ayame released Gohan's as they grew red and puffy.

"I still think you should compete Gohan. You wouldn't want all that training to go to waste would you," Setsuna asked.

"I'll think about it. But right now we better get back to class."

The bell rang and the group packed their lunches and left the rooftop.

Training went on as usual at the Kazama dojo. Asuka and her mother were teaching the students various holds, parries, and strikes. Despite the injury Gohan received from Kentaro, he was still giving it his all during his training sessions. Afterwards when everyone left for the day, Gohan approached Asuka who was gulping down a bottle of water.

"I'm ready to go when you are."

Asuka wiped the water with the back of her hand and screwed the top back of the bottle.

"Well someone is surely eager."

"Lightning only gave me two months for training. After that I'll be on my own. I need to perfect my technique and my spirit energy."

"That's the right attitude to have. We'll make a man outta you yet."

Asuka grabbed Gohan's hand, concentrated her spirit energy, and teleported to the Spirit World.

They returned to the same area Master Roshi said he would be for today's training.

"Where is that stupid old man? Did he fall somewhere and couldn't get up," Asuka asked laughing at her own joke.

"Either that or he finally got arrested," Gohan said joining in.

"You little punks! How dare you make fun of my situation!"

They both flinched and turned to the voice. Roshi was in the river stream on top of a tortoise. They stood dumbfounded at the sight.

"Does he usually do things like this," Gohan asked.

"Your guess is as good as mine."

Roshi jumped off the turtle and straightened his glasses.

"Glad to see you back here Son Gohan. You're 100 years too early to even think about challenging me though, but I do love your enthusiasm."

"Of course! I've never met an elder who can move quite like you, so I'm not gonna waste this opportunity."

"Ahhhh so this is Goku's descendant…"

"Huh?" Gohan looked around for the voice and finally looked down. "GAAAA!" He jumped back and landed on the ground. "Was that you?! Did you just talk?!"

The turtle looked at Gohan with a perplexed expression. "You look as if you saw a demon. Is a talking turtle uncommon where you come from?"

Gohan sat there with his mouth agape. Asuka folded her arms and nodded.

"You'll get use to it. A talking sea turtle is the most least shocking about this world."

"Alright then…" Gohan got back to his feet and stared at the turtle.

"He does have that aloofness that Goku use to have," Turtle explained.

"I do?"

"Yep. He was a great guy. Boy do I sure miss him…" A hint of sadness escaped his voice as he talked of Goku.

"Hey hey hey none of that now," Roshi said poking Turtle's shell. "I'm still alive and kickin aren't I? I've took great care of you all these years."

"I think it's the other way around. I always have to get you out of trouble with the authorities. I heard what you did the other day. That's the fifth bar you've been banned from."

"You stupid sea turtle I was helping someone! I did not get banned!"

They were going back and forth for 10 minutes straight.

"Hey Asuka…"

"Yeah…"

"This is Goku's teacher right? This isn't a joke right?"

"I'm questioning that myself. I hate to say it but his skills aren't a joke." Asuka picked up a nice sized rock and threw it up and down a couple times. She lined up her pitch and threw it straight down the middle at his head.

"Hmmm?" A gleam shown in Roshi's eyes, and thrusted his stick at the rock, shattering it into pieces.

"I can't deny that his skills are top notch." Asuka clapped.

"Don't you know it's rude throwing stuff at people when they're talking," Roshi yelled.

"Dude, you're arguing with a turtle."

Roshi quickly coughed and adjusted his glasses. "Good point. Now Gohan, let us start your challenge."

"Alright, I'm ready."

"I'll come back in a little to come grab you okay."

"Alright see you later Asuka."

She waved goodbye then transported back to her world.

"Come at me boy. Let's see what you're made of!" Roshi challenged.

"I intend to!"

Back in the human world, Setsuna was hard at work training at the Kazama dojo. Sweat was dripping off her face as she was working with the other students, practicing different holds and submissions.

"Alright, good work everyone. That wraps up today's training," Juna clapped her hands together to get everyone's attention. "I'm very impressed with everyone's growth. You all do this old woman proud haha. Never forget, this should never be used for violence, only self-defense. You all understand that right?"

"Yes sensei," the class yelled.

"Good, class dismissed!"

The students were filing out of the dojo, all except for one.

"You're still here Setsuna?"

"I just wanna get a bit more training in that's all." Setsuna was in the middle of the room stretching her arms and legs. Juna took a hard, long look at her.

"When class ends you're always the last one to leave. Even staying for an extra hour practicing your craft. Why is that?"

"Oh sorry, I'll leave if you think I'm getting in your way."

"Not at all. I'm just… curious."

"The Dream Fighting tournament is coming up, so I want to get all the practice I can. Don't worry I won't overwork my body. I just need to make sure I'm getting the right amount of training that's all."

"Is that so? Do you think the training you're receiving from me and my daughter are enough for you?"

"Honestly, no."

Juna raised an eyebrow at Setsuna.

"Don't get me wrong I'm happy that I can fight Asuka and learn from you too. I'm a little jealous that Asuka can receive training whenever she wants since she has a martial artist for a mom hahaha."

Juna closed her eyes and crossed her arms.

"Mmmm Mmmm I see where you're coming from. That does give Asuka a huge advantage."

That's not even counting the Spirit World. I'm not sure what kind of training she receives over there…

"I'm a maiden on a mission sensei. I have my own goals to achieve. In order to do that, I need power. I want power, and I want to get stronger."

Juna saw a deep determination in Setsuna's eyes. She knew that there was more than what she was telling her. Juna smiled and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Okay, stay as long as you like. I can tell you're serious about wanting this "power" you speak of. Just don't make it too obvious. The other students might think I'm giving you special treatment."

"Thank you very much. I won't stay too long."

Setsuna began her solo training. Juna left the room and looked back at her. She had a mischievous look in her eye.

She seems promising. Looks like you might have some competition Asuka.

"Well well not too shabby. You still can't hold a candle to me or Goku, but I can tell you show great promise."

Gohan laid flat on his back, sweaty and out of breath. Bruises were all over his body from Roshi's stick.

"Don't you think beating him with a stick was a little too much," Turtle said inspecting Gohan.

"This is my testing stick. If he can't get past my stick here, then there's no way he can match me. This world is full of mishaps and treacherous beings. We need him ready."

"Don't worry… I will be… Just trying to get use to everything here…" Gohan said through his ragged breathing.

"Be back here tomorrow to continue the challenge. You best get home. The outskirts of town aren't that safe at night." Roshi hopped on Turtle's shell and went back into the city.

"Right…" Gohan sighed and looked up at the sky. The stars were dancing in the sky, shining brightly over the world. Despite those glimmering stars, Gohan was focused on something even bigger.

"So you're Son Goku, the Crescent Blue Moon." He stared at the moon almost as if he expected it to talk back. He stood up and continued looking at it.

I can't quite explain it but, there's something about this moon. It's almost as if… huh?

An ominous aura started enveloping around Gohan, wrapping around him.

"What is this?!" He tried vigorously to break free but to no avail. A demon with a shadowy figure glared at Gohan and smiled.

"A human out this late at night. You shouldn't have left your cozy little fortress. Curiosity will get you killed!"

"Get off me!" No matter how much Gohan squirmed, the hold only got tighter.

"Ahhhhhh!" He screamed in pain.

"That's enough!" An energy blast was shot at the demon, dispelling it away from Gohan. He was on all fours trying to regain himself.

"Who dares disrupt my feast," the demon asked furiously.

"I'm glad I came just in time. Are you alright Gohan?" The man slowly brought Gohan to his feet. He has silver hair and green eyes, sporting a long-sleeved yellow and white coat with a light blue necktie. He also wears gray pants and black boots.

"I'm fine, thanks. Who are you?"

"I'm Hope Estheim, your spirit energy instructor. We'll talk more after I take care of this demon. Stay behind me."

"You think you're a match for me human? Don't you dare mock me!" The demon charged at him, ready to devour him like it did Gohan.

"I'm not mocking your necessarily." Before the demon could wrap itself around him, Hope pushed the demon away with just his energy alone.

"What the hell was that?" The demon exclaimed.

"Control. Now this right here." Hope pulled out a boomerang from his hip and threw it at the demon.

"AHHHHHH!"

The boomerang was coated with spirit energy, potent enough to cut right through the demon and dissolved into thin air.

"That's pure skill." Hope held his arm in the air and his boomerang returned to him.

"That was amazing," Gohan exclaimed.

"It was nothing really. Demons have been getting more restless as of late.

We've been setting up patrols around the city and it just so happens that my shift was protecting the main entrance into the city. That's when I saw you being overtaken."

"Thanks again for that Hope. I probably would've died if not for you."

"No thanks are necessary. You look a little banged up though."

"I was training with Master Roshi. I can feel a bit of a difference, but I'm still unable to land a clean blow on him. I need to perfect my technique with him so I'll be able to go out on my own when the time comes."

"Lightning briefed me on the situation. I'll do whatever I can to aide you on your journey. It's getting late though, so how about we pick up on this tomorrow?"

"OH NO!" The sudden realization hit Gohan. "Asuka said she was going to bring me back home. I'm not able to do it by myself just yet. Don't tell me she forgot… I have school tomorrow too. Oh man mom going to be so upset."

"Sorry to hear about your troubles. If you can't transport to your own world then you will be here until help arrives. Let's head back into the city before any more demons show up."

"Yeah, that sounds good." Gohan took one last look at the moon, then followed Hope. boomerang.

Hmmmm, I was suppose to do something but I can't quite put my finger on it. What was it again? Oh that's right! I needed to go to the supermarket! Mom is making Okonomiyaki tonight. Oho I can't wait. I better get going! – Asuka Kazama
