Descendants 3 Chapter 10

Episode 10B

Lucy Mills was rushed to the hospital following her collapse. Jacinda was right behind her, awaiting test results for her unconscious daughter. Sabine showed up as soon as she got the call.

Lyra/Candace was doing her rounds as part of her paid internship at the hospital. Having limited experience, she was given much office work such as filing, organizing, making copies, and entering data. Her tasks also included serving meals to patients. She passed by Lucy's room, letting go of the cart. It slid down the hallway. Candace stared at Lucy through the open door.

Jacinda and Sabine were in the room with her. She was unconscious. So still.

"What happened?" Candace asked. Her voice seemed to escape her.

Jacinda turned towards her, with tears in her eyes. "They don't know yet."

"Hey!" On doctor called. "Candace! You can't leave the cart like that!"

Sabina narrowed her eyes at the doctor.

Candace lowered her head. "Sorry." She got back to her job, distracted.

Roni/Regina and Henry went to San Francisco in search of Roni's friend. Henry just wanted to get away for a bit. Roni's friend ended up being her sister, Zelena. Of course, in this land, Zelena went by a different name, Kelly and didn't know they were related. Regina was able to wake up Zelena with a drop of magic and a push in the right direction.

It wasn't so simple for Kelly/Zelena to wake up. As Kelly, she was engaged!

"I do love him. He's a good guy and I haven't had that ever." Zelena said.

"I understand." Regina said. "I'll have to look elsewhere."

"What about Hope?" She asked quickly. Then she gasped. "Where's John?"

"He's okay. He's with Robin, remember."

"Oh, right. It's slowly coming all back." Zelena said. "I think I've met Hope in this land."

"Yeah, I found out she lives in this town so it's possible." Regina said.

"Why haven't you gone to see her or even call her?" Zelena asked.

"It's complicated. She doesn't remember me." She folded her arms to her chest.

"Why didn't you wake her up then instead of me?" Zelena asked. "Not that I'm not grateful but... Why come to me first?"

"Because you're more powerful." Regina said. "You have more experience with magic and curses."

"You've really come all this way, and you're not going to visit her?" Zelena asked. "Come on. If my son were here, nothing would stop me from seeing him."

Regina looked at her skeptically.

Knock knock.

A plump woman opened the door. She wore old clothes and had very curly hair. "What?" She asked, already annoyed.

"Is Nadia here?" Zelena asked.

Regina lowered her eyebrows at her sister. It was so weird hearing a different name being used for her daughter's.

"What's she done now?" The woman asked.

"Nothing. Just want to talk to her." Regina said.

"Who are you?" The woman asked.

"Let them in." A teenage girl said. She walked over to the women by the door and opened the door. "This is Kelly from the gym."

"Hope." Regina said aloud.

Zelena widened her eyes at her sister.

The woman sighed. "Take it out back."

The three of them went through the small house to the backyard.
"So why are you here Kelly?" Hope/Nadia asked. She sat on a chair outside. "Is the gym closing? Or are you adding a new class?" She took her phone out of her pocket and started playing on it. "Who's she?" She lifted her head towards Regina.

"No, uh," Zelena looked over to Regina. "I'm leaving town for a while. I won't be teaching any classes."

"Oh." Nadia said, looking up from her phone for a moment. "Okay."

"Hope-Nadia," Regina corrected herself, "I'm..." she tried to work up the courage, "I'm your birth mother."

Hope put her phone down and stared at Regina. "What?"

She glanced at her sister. Their cursed selves had all these fake memories. It could be confusing trying to keep up with what was real and what was curse. "I'm your real mom."

Nadia put her hand up by her face. She placed her hand on her forehead. "I- What am I supposed to say to that?" She scoffed. "Why are you here? Now?"

"I wanted to see you." Regina said.

"Satisfied?" She folded her arms and stood up out of her chair.

Regina looked over at the house and back to Hope/Nadia. "I wanted to make sure you were safe."

"Well I am." She said. "I'm alive. Why did you give me up?"

"I never wanted to. It may be hard to understand but I couldn't come for you until now." Regina said.

"That makes no sense." Nadia said. "I've seen Annie. I don't understand how she still had hope at age 11 that her family would come for her."

"Did you grow up in the foster system?" Zelena asked her.

"Where else?" Nadia asked. "Tossed around from one family to next. Don't act so surprised, Kelly. You have to have known. Yeah, it was great life," she said sarcastically. "This woman has been housing me for the passed ten months."

"Ten months," Regina repeated to herself. "It's been almost a year..."

Zelena looked at her sister, sympathetically.

"This is going to sound insane, but believe me, I never wanted you to get hurt." Regina said. "I would like you to come with us."

Nadia bust out laughing. She looked over at Kelly/Zelena. "Is she serious?"

Kelly nodded quietly.

"Where did you find her?" Nadia asked.

"She's my sister." Kelly said.

Nadia's eyes widened. "What?" She held her index finger up.

"Please give us a chance." Regina said. "I live in Hyperion Heights. It's in Washington. There's a lot of really great people there."

Nadia looked at each of them, terrified. "No. I'm not going anywhere with either of you."

"You life here doesn't seem so great." Kelly added. "You could come just for a couple days."

"Forget it." Nadia said. "You're both crazy."

"You haven't heard crazy yet." Zelena mumbled.

"Kelly, how long have you known who I was?" Nadia asked.

"Just found out today." She answered.

"Oh please."

"It's the truth." Regina said. "I just found her today and told her."

Nadia still look disgusted at the pair of them.

"We'll be on our way." Regina said, fighting back tears.

"You're just going to leave her here?" Zelena asked as they left the house.

"I can't drag her out of the house." Regina said. "They'd call the police and then where would we be?"

Lyra/Candace continued doing her rounds at the hospital that day. She stayed an extra hour to help with the rent crisis. Even with the money Lena/Elizabeth got for cutting her hair, they would still need money for the next month. Until Elizabeth could get another job, Candace would do her part to make sure they could keep living in town.
One of her tasks required her to go near the nursery. Candace noticed the one baby in here through the large window. She stopped in her tracks and stared at the baby. The baby was nearly a year old.

The situation reminded Candace of Gabe from The Giver. Gabe was a baby at the nursery in this dystopian town. He was developmentally behind by that town's standards by age one, so he was place with a temporary family to catch up. He went to live with Jonas, the main character's family. Gabe being behind, meant that he wasn't suitable for adoption, yet. Jonas spent some time with the baby was grew a special bond with him. He realized that this baby was special too, like him.

Candace didn't even realize she had placed her hand on the window.

The nurse in the room gave Candace a weird look.

Candace continued to watch the sleeping infant. It wasn't a newborn. Far from it. The girl had all over her teeth. Something about the baby stood out to her. She didn't know what it was, but she couldn't stop staring. She didn't want to look away.

Feeling odd after her shift at the hospital, Candace walked home quickly. She was wearing a blue leather jacket with a white line across it. She passed under the Hyperion Heights movie theater. She narrowed her eyes at it and continued to her apartment. Once inside, she got on the laptop. She thought about Lucy's words just the other day. If this town was cursed, wouldn't people around here notice? Hyperion Heights is a new up and coming town! It started a several months ago! Just like Lucy said was when the curse started. No way. It can't be... it's a crazy coincidence...

Candace looked up the name Hyperion on the computer. What does this town even mean?

She discovered that the name Hyperion could be a reference to many Disney properties. The Hyperion Theater at California Adventure was one of them. HH has a theater too! There was a publishing company called Hyperion books that printed Disney books. Disney fairytales. But The Golden Compass isn't a Disney fairytale... But Cinderella is and so is Princess and the Frog and Tangled or Rapunzel, and Snow White...

She kept scrolling and learned that Hyperion Avenue was the address of the first Disney animation studio. And there is a Hyperion cafe in Disneyland Paris. This can't be a coincidence, can it? Something is definitely off about this town... or completely magical.

Back at the hospital, Henry wanted to believe in his book. He read his story to her and looked at the image where Emma kissed Henry on the forehead. He mimicked this with Lucy, but nothing happened. Lucy was still unconscious.

Candace lied on her couch for a while lost in thought. Why would someone name this town Hyperion Heights? All these Disney references. Victoria Belfrey doesn't seem like a huge Disney fan... Who is she supposed to be? The wicked witch? If I'm Lyra from the golden compass... do so have a golden compass somewhere? And where is Will? Is it Hunter? Who is Ms. Coulter and Asreal? Who is Elizabeth supposed to be? Red hair... the little Mermaid?

She got and up checked her bookshelf. She glanced at her His Dark Materials series and noticed that her Once Upon a Time book version 2 was still there. "Lucy." She said quietly.

She pulled out the first Golden Compass book. When she opened it up, a large price of folded up paper fell out. Candace looked down confused. She grabbed the piece of paper and unfolded it. There was an image of Lyra, Lena, Melody, and Maryanne landing in Storybrooke in 2015. The text had their names on it. Candace read the page on the back.

The descendants Lena, Lyra, Maryanne and Melody began their operation to save the future. The residents of Storybrooke surrounded them. They had no idea who these girls where. Leroy, Astrid, Killian, Ruby, Granny, Mary Margaret, David Nolan, baby Neal. Everyone was there, except for the Savior.
Lena took the lead, telling sheriff Nolan that they were visiting from the Enchanted Forest. It wasn't a lie... but it wasn't the whole truth.

The whole time Sheriff Nolan talked to them, Lyra was laughing, almost giving it away. Lena was so mad at her, not just for that. Melody wasn't supposed to be a part of the mission. Now they didn't have a way back.
Sheriff Nolan bought their story. He let them stay in town, at Granny's bed and breakfast. It was such a difficult world to them - or at least for Lena and Melody.

Candace flipped the page back over. Where's the rest of the story!?

Candace went back to the hospital to visit Lucy. She was still in the same condition. She checked her room. The book wasn't there.

Candace went down the hallway, walking passed the nursery. She talked to the nurse there and was able to hold the baby. Once she held her in arms, it felt so relaxing. She felt a weight off her chest. A tight pain her chest was suddenly gone.
Zelena/Kelly walked down the hallway and saw Candace/Lyra in the nursery with the baby.
