Hey guys, I'm feeling really down today. I've been going into depression just thinking about Walter and I spend the whole day thinking about him and crying. I dunno what's gotten into me but the fact that he's dead just seemed to hurt a lot. I just get emotionally attached to characters so much, I can't seem to heal from that. I'm trying to do something but with all the studying and all, I doubt if I'll ever find time. The war just hurts me to how it affected everyone in the Blythe family and they would never be the same again. I have read all the Walter/ Una stories out there and Anne and Gilbert no longer satisfy me that much. Please PM me if you know what I could do, but the only solution I've found is so write another chapter even without any kind of inspo because I just feel like crying.

Update : Okay I feel a leeetle better. Was just reading the Happiness we Must Win by elizasky and although some of the parts made me cry, I feel a little satisfaction in knowing that they are happy even without Walter. They've built their lives and now I want to build Walter's yayy!!!

Chapter Title: We tried to forget it but we just couldn't ( Endgame from the Rep Album by Taylor Swift yuhooo)

"Well, we're off" she muttered un- sentimentally.

Walter took one look at her and burst into laughter, his eyes glinting with amusement. She looked like such a melancholy figure, standing at the edge of the ferry, grasping the railings. In the distance she could still make out Carl waving at them merrily, one of his eyes covered with a patch that made him look more like a pirate. The Rev. Meredith and Rosemary were making their way back along with Mother and Father who never failed to glance back, to ensure themselves that this was all true.

Una looked at him with reproaching eyes. "At least you have gone out of PEI. This is my first time leaving home."

She softened as he gave her an apologetic look.

"I'm sure you'll be alright, didn't you say Di was meeting you there?"

"She is but she'll be hurrying off to Halifax with Nan and Jerry." she sighed wistfully.

Nan was following her interest in law, along with Jerry who was more interested in theology. Di had Jem and her father's appeal with medicine and was accepting a scholarship in Dalhousie. Gilbert had been the proudest parent in that regard, mentioning it to every one of his patients.

"Where are you staying?" Walter asked in an attempt to turn the conversation topic.

"I don't really know yet. Faith says that Dove Cottage, where they boarded during Redmond is open for me but I can't stay there alone with only Miss Dove, can I? I'll have to board with Miss Tessa then" she shivered.

Miss Tessa was a well known personage in Kingsport. Although she was kind from the inside, her heart was in the right place as Nan said but she was well- known for her fiery tempers and outbursts. Timid Una had been told many stories about her and she still quivered in the kind lady's presence.

"Well, It can't be as bad as staying with Jem." Walter said after a moment of ponder. "The last time I boarded with Jem was years ago and even with Jerry's presence, he wouldn't stop talking about Faith."

"It'll be much worst this time, I reckon." he chuckled wryly.

"D'you know Faith's favourite flowers are asters? And she loves the color blue? And her eyes are the loveliest shade of sunkissed golden brown." he imitated Jem so perfectly that Una burst into laughter though the bitterness in them went unnoticed.

Of course Walter would remember everything Jem had told about Faith. Maybe he even liked hearing about Faith. He loved her didn't he?.

Fortunately for the awkwardness that ensued, Shirley came up to the deck, grinning coyly.

From the Blythe children, they had thought only Jem had inherited the Blythe smirk while Walter had Anne's dreamy smile. But Shirley had surprised them all when he chose to flash his grin which was not very often.

Shirley was quiet, often overshadowed by all his siblings. The Glen St. Mary people never gave much thought to him and that suited him just fine. In vain the Ingleside children tried to include him in their travels but Shirley was not to be turned. In vain they coaxed and wheedled, at last just giving it up and taking his opinion once in a while.

He wasn't comfortable in most people's company, excepting Una who didn't make him talk and was quiet was shy as he was and Walter who he had a certain bond with. Carl was his bestest friend and the fact that he wasn't coming to Redmond until a week later, made him down- hearted, but Shirley wasn't one to show anything outright.

"Why are you grinning like a Cheshire cat?" Walter raised his eyebrow.

"It's nothing." he struggled to keep his face straight, still thinking about Walter and Una. There'll be another Blythe and Meredith wedding soon, he thought.

The first person Una saw as she got off was Di waving wildly at her, her hat tipped off and her hair flying in every direction. There was another girl standing next to her, completely in contrast to her.

She had crimped brown hair, with a pixie like face, her emerald green eyes peering out from beneath her shabby hat. Apart from the hat, nothing at all from her attire looked that simple. But the way she carried herself with poise and grace, talked of a genteel upbringing. She batted her eyelashes at Walter, gazing at him attentively in a way that made Una's blood boil.

Disregarding that act, Una quickly liked Pixie Blake ,as her name was, from the beginning.

"This is a family friend. Una, Pixie Blake. Pixie, this is Una Meredith." Di said by way of greeting.

"I know I'm going to like you so much. Do try to like me just a leeetle bit." Pixie gushed as soon as Una had muttered her shy greetings. She was like a lively puppy no one could help liking.

But from her black wardrobe, it seemed as if she were mourning someone. As Di explained again about Walter and the war, she stared ahead into the atmosphere, her face rigid with emotion.

"I'm so sorry." muttered Di contritely as she caught sight of her.

As Pixie murmured that it was nothing, Di related in whispers to Una that her brother, Alonzo had died in the war, nearly four years ago. She soon returned into her lively manner again, talking to Una and Di.

She didn't however get her eyes off Walter who was now coming to say goodnight along with Shirley and Jem who they had come to welcome them on the station.

"Stop batting your eyelashes at Walter, Pixie." Di groaned.

"You practically grew up with us and that is weird."

"You boys have grown up." Pixie remarked when she had greeted the boys.

"Where are you all staying?"

"We're boarding at Mrs. Rose's and Shirley will be at The Halington's with Carl and Jack Wright.".

"Do come to visit us once in a while." she had said and helping the girls get their luggage the boys were on their way. As the girls settled in their rooms Una looked up at the moon from the window and rolled up her sleeves up to her elbow. There, as the sun shined upon her pale white skin was a black armband.

She hadn't mourned Walter in sight of everyone of course. In the eyes of the world, she had no right to mourn. But she had wore only pale or dark colours and today for the first time since three years, she had worn a deep purple colour. But removing the arm- band was another thing. It had grown to be such a part of her. Walter was back but he wasn't himself, and she didn't feel like doing it yet. With a sigh, she let the sleeves fall down, instead turning her attention to that night, a few days ago.

Walter hadn't mentioned it and she was glad. Why had she hugged Walter thinking it was Rilla? Only the tingling sensation on her skin and his low raspy voice made her have her doubts and when he replied it was her, she had already ran away. She looked out of the window towards the moon. to the moon and how many people in the world it was keeping a vigil on?.

Update Number 3: Yayyy, I feel better after some chocolate and fanfic binging. Who said Walter died ? He's alive and well thankyou so much and forgot to add the " married to Una" part. Also many of the lines are taken from Anne of The Island and some of them are mine, thankyou lalalala. byee. Also I'm the last chapter it was Una who wrapped her arms around Walter. I didn't make that so much clear so reread it yayy.
