Starpottergeek: That will happen later in the story.
"The loss of your powers is undeniably traumatic. You may feel confused, or even frightened they're lost forever. Your battle with the android drained your Kryptonian cells of their solar energy. You are now as vulnerable to your environment as any human, subject to pain, sickness, death."
Kara stood in the secret room that Alex had built for her not long after she joined the DEO, staring at the holographic AI that took the form of her mother, created by Alura herself and contained knowledge whenever Kara needed it.
It has been two days since the loss of her powers, and since then she had been running through test after test at the DEO to see what was wrong with her. When they couldn't get a good reason for it, she turned to the AI that could give her the answers she needed.
"But have faith, Kara." The AI continued. "Once your cells have reabsorbed sufficient radiation from Earth's yellow star, your powers should return. Do not be afraid. And until you have fully recovered, lean on those you trust. It is my deep regret that I am unable to be there with you myself, my beloved daughter. As always, my collected knowledge is at your disposal for further analysis."
"Thank you-" The hologram flickered off before Kara could finish. "...Mom."
Stepping out of the room, she found Jayden leaning against the wall across from the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest. He had been looking at the floor when the door opening caught his attention and he saw Kara step out. "How did it go?" He asked her, hoping she had some good news.
"During the fight with Red Tornado, I used too much energy and it drained my powers." Kara said with a heavy sigh, rubbing her forehead from all the anxiety and stress she's been under for the last two days. "They'll come back, supposedly, but I don't know when."
Jayden looked at her softly, knowing she must feel like she lost a part of herself with her powers drained like this and unable to use them. He didn't know how he'd feel if the same happened to him of some kind, he accepted that he won't be able to lead a normal life like the rest of the humans who lead ordinary, normal boring lives, he accepted that fact a long time ago.
"Everything will be alright, Kara." Jayden said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders for a hug and rubbed her arm. "You once told me this happened to your cousin. He drained his powers but ended up getting them back."
"Yeah, but it took a few days for him!" Kara said sounding desperate while stepping back from the embrace. "I just...feel...wrong. I haven't felt like this since I first came to Earth."
Jayden was silent for a moment, staring at her for a few seconds before he spoke. "Look, Kara, I don't know what to say except support you and help you through this. But what I will say is this gives you the chance to have some time off and rest."
"The heroine shook her head. "I can't just take time off, Jayden. The city needs Supergirl. How can I just sit by and let things happen-" She paused when the other hero held her face in his hands, gently caressing her cheeks with his thumbs and looking at her with a gentle, soft expression.
"What this city needs and what you need are two very different things. You can't help others unless you're at your best, Kara. And right now, you have the chance to take some much needed time off to try and be human for a while. You deserve it. You've been defending this city for months now, you deserve some time off from the crime-fighting and alien fighting."
Kara still looked conflicted but Jayden continued before she could speak. "Besides, you forget I'm around. Let Zilla take more pressure, I can handle it."
Kara couldn't help but smile as she placed her hands on his wrists and gently rubbed them, staring into his eyes. "I get it. It's just...after everything I've done, I don't want to just step away. It doesn't feel right."
"You aren't stepping away." The son of Godzilla said seriously. "Even heroes need days off, hell Godzilla even needed some days off after the battles he's been through with other monsters and Titans. It's not easy, but we have to bite the bullet sometimes if it means we can get back to doing what we do best faster."
"i guess you're right." Kara said after thinking about his words, giving him a soft smile. "Thank you, for being with me through all of this."
Jayden smiled back. "It's what i'm here for." He watched the de-powered Kryptonian turn and walk away to somewhere else in the base, the Prince of Monsters letting out a sigh as Alex walked up to stand beside him. "She's still struggling." He said before she could even ask.
"I know. Ever since we were little and just learning to be human she used her powers in secret. It's what makes her unique and connected to her homeworld." The older Danvers replied. She glanced at him. "Thank you, for being there, it means a lot to her."
"I'd be a terrible...friend if I didn't support her." Jayden said, nearly saying something else as his mind went back to his near confession two days ago. He looked at Alex who was giving him a knowing smirk. "That smirks means nothing good, what is it?"
Alex chuckled. "You haven't told her how you feel about her, have you?" She asked and he blinked in surprise. "You don't think I notice how you stare at her whenever you think nobody's looking? That soft look you get when she smiles like nothing exist in your world but her."
"...You should be a poet." Jayden grumbled, making Alex snort as he sighed. "I...nearly told her after the fight with Red Tornado when she cut herself and learned she was human. Finding out what was wrong was more important than my feelings for her. I can't just drop such a bomb to her with the stage she's in right now."
Alex shook her head. "She cares about you a lot more than you know. Whenever she and I hang out along, you come up a lot. She has that same smile you get when she talks about you. I've never seen her act this way about a guy before."
Jayden was silent as he thought over her words. "When i want to tell her...something gets in the way." He muttered as he stared in the direction Kara left. "i have never felt this way for someone, but my Mom did tell me some things as I grew up. Didn't want me to be some dense idiot. I...I can't explain but ever since meeting her...something has just been calling me to her, to the point I can't imagine my life without her in it now."
Alex was surprised, she never thought she'd see the tough, big Zilla turn into a schoolboy with a crush on the pretty girl in school because that's what this looked like.
"Just be yourself." Alex said, patting his arm. "Trust me, she feels the same. Give her a chance, but promise me one thing."
"What?" He looked at her.
"Don't. Ever. Hurt. Her. If you do, I will cut off whats between your legs then put you through serious hell until you beg for death." Alex threatened with the look of a protective older sister. Jayden swallowed, actually feeling scared for the first time in a long time, and nodded. "Good."
Alex glanced over at where Hank was talking to Kara, her mother's words coming back to her and learning that Hank Henshaw was the last one to be with her father before he died. Both were sent on a mission, with only Hank returning from it and had not told anyone what happened on that mission.
"Hey." Jayden placed a hand on her shoulder, causing her to look at him. "I'll keep an eye on him." He said, since both Danvers girls had told him about what they know from their mother.
Nodding her thanks, Alex walked away over to her sister to speak with her, leaving the son of Godzilla to his thoughts, thinking about what Alex said about Kara.
Kara stood on the rooftop of CatCo, blowing her nose into a tissue. Today could bhe summed up in just two words.
It sucks.
She had been late for work, forced to take a bus and ended up sitting next to a little boy who had the cold and it ended up passing into her and now she had a running nose. Cat all but threw her out and told her not to come back until she was better.
It was one of the two rules when working for Cat. Don't get sick, and don't cry on the job.
Kara sighed, praying to Rao, the God in Kryptonian religion. She opened her eyes in surprise when hearing something land behind her with a deep grunt. "Rough day?" She looked to see Jayden there in his Zilla form. He walked over and sat down beside her, being taller than her due to the chance in this form.
"You don't know the half of it." The de-powered Kryptonian sighed again before she sneezed She smiled a little when she saw his tail curl around her to comfort her, the end resting on her lap. "How's the city?"
"Quiet. Way too quiet." Jayden sighed. "Never felt so bored, getting a normal job would ease my boredom." he glanced at her, seeing just how down she was at being unable to go out as Supergirl again until her powers returned to her. Jayden stood. "Come on, I'm taking you somewhere to try and raise those spirits of yours."
He motioned for her to join him and she hesitantly did, glancing down to the streets below. He noticed this and looked at her. "Do you trust me?"
The Kryptonian nodded and he wrapped an arm around her waist while hers secured themselves around he back of his neck, despite the size difference due to his Zilla form.
Kara gasped when he leaped into the air, his inhuman leaps going far distances. Kara pressed her head against his chest, closing her eyes at feeling his powerful heartbeat. It almost lulled her to sleep when he landed in an alleyway and shifted back to his normal human form, showing off his bare chest which made Kara blush at seeing his muscular form and six-pack before he put on a short sleeved white shirt, a pair of socks and black boots, then a black leather biker jacket.
"Where are we?" Kara said as they walked out the alleyway and she saw they were across from Noonan's. "You're taking me to lunch?" She asked, wondering if this was what the son of Godzilla had in mind for cheering her up.
"Just the first step, trust me." Jayden said as they walked over, him holding the door open for her. The heroine smiled as she entered, the other hero following behind.
Unknown to them, something was approaching National City, something that had been sent on a mission to exterminate Jayden...
It was still early in the day, so Noonan's was just starting their lunch period, so the two heros ordered themselves some lunch.
They sat at a table, exchanging a little small talk between them as they ate. The son of Godzilla made sure to take her mind off of her condition, and so far it seemed to be working.
Watching her laugh at a small joke he made, he found it hard to look away as he enjoyed her laugh. Ever since he came to the realization that he had fallen in love with the Girl of Steel, every time she smiled seemed to light a small fire in his chest that he enjoyed and it made his body feel warmer than it already was.
Kara was also lost in her thoughts as she took in his features, seeing just how handsome he was and it caused her heart to flutter, especially a lot more now that she had admitted to herself she had fallen in love with him and wanted to tell him. She was no longer running from how she felt, but she tried to figure out how to tell him how she felt.
"Kara?" She blinked and came out of her thoughts to see Jayden raising an eyebrow at her. "Lost in thought?"
"Yeah." Kara said with an apologetic smile as she sipped her coffee.
Jayden smiled a little before it fell as he debated with himself before deciding to just wing it and hope for the best. "There's another reason I brought you here." Kara looked at him curiously. "Do you remember, after our fight with Red Tornado? Our talk before you lost your powers?"
"Yeah, you seemed ready to tell me something." Kara nodded, remembering very clearly.
"Yeah. I wanted to...I just wanted to say..." Jayden said, struggling to get the words out which infuriated him at how hard this was. He was Godzilla's son, he would not allow himself to be halted by nervousness in telling the woman he loves how he feels about her! "I like you...a lot, Kara. I've been thinking about you for days. You've been a great friend to me but...I...I want more...because I'm in love with you, Kara."
He watched as Kara's face went red, her expression speechless from his confession. He could hear her heart beating faster than normal with his hearing. Suddenlya beaming smile came across the heroine's face.
Kara licked her lips and decided to tell him she felt the same. "I...I-"
Jayden's eyes widened as he felt something off, his senses screaming dangers, he heard a car screech then heard something thrown...towards them!
Without hesitation, he leaped across the table and tackled Kara just as a car crashed through the window. Jayden covered Kara as the car flew over them, sending glass, food, tables everywhere. the car smashing into the wall.
Jayden looked up before he looked down at Kara. "You okay?" He asked her in concern.
Kara nodded and he helped her up, the two pausing when they heard the ground rumble like something big was walking across it. "What's happening?"
They saw people screaming and running from something and when it came into view, Jayden's eyes widened in shock and horror. "no..."
Coming towards them was a pack of large reptilian creatures with only two long forelimbs and no hindlimbs, as well as long, prehensile, serpentine tails. They have long and slender, yet muscular, sturdy bodies. What appears to be the "eye sockets" of their skull-like heads are merely empty fenestrae presumably it evolved that way to protect its eyes from enemies: their real eyes are set much further back, with the fenestrae perhaps serving to distract enemies from their more vulnerable eyes and acting as heat-seeking sensory pits. The pupils of their green eyes are horizontal and somewhat resemble those of frogs and toads. The colors of their scales range from dark brown to dark green to a bone-white color. Their heads closely resemble those of mosasaurs such as Tylosaurus, and their jaws possess two rows of serrated, razor-sharp teeth.
It was a pack of Skullcrawlers, natives of Skull Island, what the hell were they doing this far from their island?
There was five of them, the biggest one was the adult while the other four where juveniles. Adult Skullcrawlers are much larger. Their tails are armed with a form of a club that can be used as a weapon, and they also have distinct bone-like spikes protruding from their elbows.
"Hello, son of Godzilla..." The Skull Devil said with a female voice, a twisted grin of sorts on her snout...
The Skullcrawlers have arrived! And yeah, the Skull Devil is the Big One Kong fights in Kong: Skull Island.
