Chapter 10: Interrogation

Eraserhead usually didn't work early in the mornings. He was an underground hero for a reason. However, Yamada was sick, so Aizawa ended up covering his patrol.

The pro sighed as he stopped on a roof above an abandoned alley. There wasn't much going on today. And, while he was thankful there were no crimes being committed, he was also incredibly bored.

What he wouldn't give to go home so he could curl up with his cats and sleep. Being both a teacher and a pro hero was harder than most gave credit to.

Just as he was getting comfortable on his perch, he heard a loud cry of someone in unbearable pain. His head flew in that direction and Aizawa launched his scarves and began to swing towards the scene of the crime.

To Aizawa's surprise, it took nearly ten minutes at his stop speed—parkouring over the rooftops to avoid the crowds—to arrive at the scene of the crime. His heart broke as his normally cool gaze landed on the teen laying still in the alleyway. To feel so much pain that the pro could hear him several blocks away was horrifying.

However, ever the pragmatist, Eraserhead pushed back his feelings and he immediately began checking the teen for signs of life. He sighed in relief when he felt a pulse, though it was weak, and felt labored breathing.

Next, he checked for any injuries. The pro was confused to find nothing but minor bruises. There we obvious signs of a fight, however their were no indications of why he would have screamed in such pain.

"Was it a quirk," the pro pondered.

The pro contemplated what type of quirk could do this as he called the incident in.

As he waited for an ambulance and the police to arrive, the boy groaned.

"Hey, kid," he said and the teen's eyes slit open.

Aizawa was used to seeing odd features on people due to quirks, but his eyes didn't seem to match the kid at all. They were completely black beside a white pinprick of white. They didn't seem human at all.

"William," the kid groaned, and the voice seemed like a mixture of youth and...mechanical.

"Eraser," Detective Naomasa called as the police gathered into the alley. "What's the situation?"

The pro sighed and said, "It looks like the kid was hit by a quirk. He's alive, and he has no major injuries, but I could hear his screams from at least five blocks away. I'm surprised no other pros turned up with how loud he was."

"Did you not see the peratraitors," the detective asked.

"No, sir," Aizawa said. "It took me ten minutes to arrive at the scene. It seems like they ran off when they realized what was happening."

The detective frowned. Hopefully the kid could identify his attackers.

"Is it safe to move him," he asked one of the EMTs.

"Yes, sir," the man said. "It was just as Eraserhead-san described."

"Good," Naomasa said. "We'll finish up here and then we'll meet you at the hospital."

"Yes, sir," the EMT said with a salute.

It was dark, and Izuku could feel pain spiking through his body. For a moment, he thought he was back in the safe room, however he could see that William was right across from him. That must mean that he was in his mindscape.

"William," Izuku inquired with a pain filled groan.

They were both laying on the ground with what looked like blood surrounding them.

William groaned, but didn't wake.

"Will," Izuku screamed in fear.

"Be silent," an unknown voice growled, it was a deep bass and it sounded mechanical.

"Who are you," Izuku demanded. "And how did you invade our mindscape?!"

A figure stepped out of the shadows. He was a tall animatronic bunny animatronic. His body was a yellow-green with mold, it's eyes were a bright, piercing gold, and it looked to be broken down.

"Our mindscape," the man asked with a suspicious hiss.

"Springtrap," Izuku gasped in recognition, and the bunny glared at him.

"Who are you," Springtrap growled in warning.

"Me," William said with a pained groan as he sat up.

The animatronic looked at Will in clear confusion.

"He's my reincarnation," William explained. "But, we haven't merged."

Springtrap blinked dumbly at his alter, but he calmed down. To Izuku's surprise, the animatronic changed into a more anthropomorphic form. He looked like William's twin, but he had sickly pear colored skin, olive green hair with blood red highlights, bunny ears, claws, and a bunny tail.

It was Izuku's turn to blink dumbly and Springtrap smirked at him, a fang showing.

"So," Spring said, ignoring Izuku for the moment. "The kid's you? He doesn't look like much."

"Don't judge him to harshly, Spring," William said with admonishment. "He almost took out four boys his own age with ease...and they had superpowers. The only reason he lost was that one of the brat's opponents had a power that made us feel like we were being springlocked."

Springtrap raised an eyebrow, reluctantly impressed.

"How'd this happen," he asked, changing the subject.

"Honestly," William said shrugging. "We have no idea."

Springtrap started to laugh, and they both gave him mirrored blank looks, making the bunny man laugh harder.

"Now I see it," he said, with a hearty chuckle.

"Yeah, yeah," William said with an annoyed huff. "Now, we need to evaluate our situation. All this chit chat can wait. Brat, give me a run down!"

"We obviously passed out," Izuku said, and Spring snorted.

"No crap, Sherlock," he said mockingly and Izuku gave him a dry look.

"The weird part was the quirk affected both of us," Izuku said. "Why? Will mental quirks always affect both...sorry all of us?"
"That's a good point," William mused as he tugged on a lock of hair. "We only have experience with physical quirks."

"Quirk," Springtrap asked lost.

"A superpower," Izuku explained. "80% of the population has one now, and most of the 20% who don't are from the older generations."

"What's yours," Spring asked, curious despite himself.

"Quirkless," Izuku mumbled.

"But," William said with a proud smirk. "We impressed a pro enough that he'll pass down his quirk to us. Apparently, it's special enough to be top secret."

Spring whistled—impressed, and said, "Dang, you always amaze me by getting into some weird crap."

"Anyways," Izuku continued. "Our combined agony must have been enough for my mind to split and bring back Spring here...I'm guessing. I'm not to knowledgeable on remnant and quirk biology to cross that bridge yet."

"It's a good theory," William said as he tapped his chin.

Izuku shrugged and decided to continue.

"Our screams should've been loud enough to alert the pros," the teen said.

"So we should expect an interrogation," William said, eyes flashing with alertness.

"Yeah," Izuku said nodding in agreement, his eyes just as determined.

"Then let's get our answers straight," William said with a calculative smirk.

Izuku woke up right as the door opened.

"He's stable, and relatively uninjured," a doctor said as he lead a detective and the pro hero Eraserhead into the room. "However, he hasn't woken up yet. We think it's because the quirk set off his pain receptors. It's like he was injured, but it never happened pyhsically. I doubt he'd be awake..."

Izuku cleared his throat, interrupting the doctor, and all eyes turned to him.

Izuku blushed and said, "Hi?"

"Hello young man," the detective said. "I'm Detective Naomasa. And that's-"

"Eraserhead," Izuku said without thinking, and both of the men—the doctor leaving without the others noticing—blinked in amazement. "I, uh, like heroes..."

"Apparently," Eraserhead drawled, and Izuku grinned in amusement with how similar it was to William.

Eraserhead looked at him in confusion, but then his face went blank once again.

"We have a few questions for you," the detective said. "Do you mind answering them?"

"Okay," Izuku said with a small shrug.

The two men pulled up chairs to get more comfortable.

"Do you remember who attacked you," Naomasa asked.

"Yeah," Izuku said with a small frown. "Some guys from school. I don't remember all their names, but I think one is Tsubasa, he has a wing quirk. One had spike that came out of their knuckles, one had fingers that they could extend, and the last one was a transfer. From what I could gather, his quirk can affect the mind? Maybe playing on our fears? He'd never have known about what happened to me, and if your asking me who did it, that means he himself doesn't affect what fears are used or he wouldn't have ran..."

The detective looked at him with his jaw dropped, and Eraserhead looked at him with interest.

"That's really smart, kid," the pro said, and Izuku blushed.

"I like analyzing quirks," he explained. "It's a hobby."

"Do you have an analysis quirk," Naomasa asked.

"No...," Izuku said, fidgeting. "I'm quirkless..."

The detectives eyes widened.

"So, that analysis was all natural," Eraserhead inquired, looking impressed.

"Yeah," Izuku said confused. "I've been doing it since I was four. It's noting special."

"Nothing special, he says," the detective muttered to himself in disbelief. "I know several officers that couldn't do that!"

"Dang, kid," Eraserhead said. "Remind me to never introduce you to Nezu."

"UA's principal," Izuku asked, surprised.

"Mhm," the pro hummed.

"Anyways, to get back on track," the detective said. "How did the fight start?"

"They pulled me into the alley way," Izuku said dryly. "They wanted to 'show the quirkless freak that he doesn't deserve to lick our shoes'."

The two men winced.

"I...see," the detective said.

"I have a question," the pro said.

"Go ahead," the detective said, relieved to move to a new subject.

"You said you don't have a quirk, and I believe you," Eraserhead said. "It would be pointless to lie with the detective here anyway."

"I'm a human lie detector," Naomasa explained at Izuku's confused look.

Izuku was immediately wary, but tried not to look worried.

"Anyway, when I found you, you opened your eyes for a brief moment, and they were black with a white pupil," the pro said. "Now I see they're an extremely pale green, almost as if you were blind..."

Izuku became extremely confused, and the two men could see that.

"What," Izuku asked.

"Do you not know," Eraserhead asked in surprise.

"No...," Izuku said. "I mean I can explain the paleness. I'm actually partially blind, but the other... That's never happened before."

"You're blind," the pro asked stunned.

"Partially," Izuku said. "I have special quirk made contacts that allow me to see people and objects in a red outline. Think of it like inferred or heat vision."

"The evidence show that you were winning that fight," the pro said, secretly impressed. "And, you're telling me that you did that mostly blind and quirkless?!"

"Yeah," Izuku said, straightening his shoulder defensively. "So?"

Aizawa gave him a maniacal grin and asked, "Do you want to be a hero?"

Izuku's eyes widened.

"What," he asked weakly.

"You heard me," the pro said evenly.

"Yeah," Izuku said. "Always have."

"You have more potential than my whole class this year," Aizawa said bluntly.

"R-Really," Izuku asked, mind reeling.

"Yeah," Aizawa said. "Now, I have one more question."

"Okay," Izuku asked.

"Who's William," Aizawa asked. "You called me that when I found you. Was he there? Was he one of the boys who attacked you?"

"No," Izuku denied with a defensive yelp. "Will would never hurt me!"

Aizawa was relieved at that.

"Okay," he said. "I believe you. But, I still have to ask who he is and why you called me that."

"He's my best friend," Izuku said vaguely. "You actually kinda remind me of him."

"Oh," the pro said in his normal dry tone, but Izuku noticed he raised an eyebrow in curiousity.

"Yeah," Izuku said with a small nod. "He has long black hair, he speaks very bluntly, and you use similar dry tones when your speaking."

Naomasa snorted in amusement and said, "Look, Shota, he found you a twin!"

Aizawa gave him an unamused look and Izuku giggled.

"Right," the pro said. "Thank you for your time. We'll be in touch in case we have any more questions."

The two men walked to the door and Eraserhead stopped and turned around.

"By the way, kid," the pro said as he stopped by the door. "I'd go see a quirk doctor about the eyes. You may have a quirk you never knew you had."

Izuku nodded, and the two men left. He needed to speak to William.
