Chapter 12: There are No Rules

Noca smashed through one wall and ended up crashing against another. He fell to the ground with a thud, managing to land on his right side and avoid causing any further damage to his already fragile wrist. Noca grunted and slowly tried to sit up, noticing he had crashed into an empty office.

"Oh, thank God," Noca said, breathing a sigh of relief as he moved to his feet and looked forward. The light that was coming in from the hole he had created was blocked by the person who had attacked him. Even though the teenager had his hood up, Noca knew who it was from context. "Yaiko?" Noca questioned.

Yaiko said nothing. He clenched his hands together and thrust them forward, unleashing a Ki blast. Noca had to dive out of the way, which meant the blast only crashed into the wall behind him, creating another hole. Noca rolled and charged in from Yaiko's right side. The younger teenager turned in time to block an oncoming attack from Noca. He didn't budge at all. Yaiko lifted his leg up and smashed a kick into Noca's face and that propelled him through the wall again. Noca created another hole and fell down into the street.

The Super Saiyan managed to jump up to his feet and dodge back to create some distance, doing so very quickly. Yaiko dropped out of the hole, meeting Noca on the street. He started to walk towards the Saiyan.

Noca moved again and readied himself for another attack. Yaiko managed to flash forward in a blinding burst of pace but Noca was equal to it. He leaned forward with his left shoulder and let Yaiko's punch connect. He managed to halt the pace of the attack and returned the kick that Yaiko had offered up before.

Noca slammed his right foot into Yaiko's head and the Saiyan managed to spin around and then slammed his left foot down on Yaiko, knocking him into the ground. Noca was on top, literally, he moved over Yaiko and with his right hand he held the boy down to the ground. The Saiyan had his hand positioned on Yaiko's chest.

"Stay down, kid," Noca said, trying not to sound menacing or mean, he just didn't want to fight the boy.

"I'm not a kid!" Yaiko growled. He gripped on to Noca's arm with his left and pulled his feet up, kicking out into Noca's chest. Noca was knocked back, slightly. Yaiko jumped up to his feet again and charged forward once more. He sent his left elbow crashing into the Saiyan's gut, he then moved to grab Noca's head with both of his hands and sent his knee crashing into the Saiyan's face.

Noca was sent arching back and stumbled. He stopped and wiped his nose, luckily there was no blood, yet. Yaiko remained standing, glaring at Noca. His hood had fallen down. Yaiko's messy, dark, spiky hair was over his face a little, making his eyes look fierce. Noca scoffed and removed his bomber jacket, tossing it to the side.

The Saiyan held his arms up, ready for more combat. Yaiko's eyes fell on Noca's left arm and he saw the cast around his wrist. He made a mental note for later.

"Fine. You want to fight me, give me all you got," Noca said, provoking the teenager. Yaiko growled and charged forward again.

He attempted to swipe a left hook across into Noca's face, but the Saiyan arched his back ever so slightly, meaning that he was just out of reach. Yaiko reacted to that by attempting a left footed kick up at Noca's head again. Noca used his right arm to block the foot. Yaiko retracted the leg and went with a right hook and Noca was sure to remember his injury and ducked under that attack, which worked to his favour, giving him an opening. He thrust his right hand forward and pulsed up into Yaiko's gut, lifting the teenager into the sky.

Noca followed up by phasing up to Yaiko and kicked him in the back, down towards the ground. Yaiko didn't crash down like Noca expected and managed to get a hand down and spring himself up so he landed gently on his feet. But his toes barely touched down before Yaiko was soaring towards the Saiyan again. He met Noca with a strong head into his gut. Noca coughed as the hit struck. He bent over slightly but grabbed Yaiko by the sides and threw him down towards the ground again.

Yaiko was fully prepared to do a similar move to get back to Noca but this time the Saiyan had followed up the throw with a Ki blast. Yaiko looked up as the light came closer and instead of pouncing up, he backed up as quickly as he could, letting the blast crash into the ground. It exploded and Yaiko put his hands up to block his face but Noca had phased behind him. The Saiyan pulled Yaiko's arms behind his back and held him in a lock.

Yaiko groaned and struggled. He wasn't about to use words to get out of this and Noca wasn't sure why he was being attacked with such ferocity by a kid he absolutely didn't know.

"Why are you doing this?" Noca asked. Yaiko continued to do his best to get out of the position but he couldn't do it. He squirmed and struggled but Noca kept strong.

"You need to pay for what you did," Yaiko growled.

"And what did I do?" Noca asked.

That wasn't what Yaiko wanted to hear. He growled louder and thrust his head back to try and hit Noca but the Saiyan moved his head away in time to avoid the hit. He tightened his grip on Yaiko's arms and kicked him in the back of his legs to take him to his knees.

"Stay still. We don't need to fight," Noca said, trying to be reasonable. Yaiko continued to groan louder.

The shootout at the HQ in the park was proving to be rather difficult for the Secret Service. Not because they didn't have the resources, or skills, to deal with it, but because it had caught them completely off-guard. Rushan Kalari, Brie Wagasi, Abe Halaya, Dean Aman, and Cas Babka all had to dive behind cover, either side of the gate that led into the park. Rushan and Dean were on one side, and the other three were on the opposite side.

The soldiers firing ahead were unrelenting. The constant fire wasn't giving them a chance to move or react at all. They were resorting to blind fire over their cover.

"Where did these guys come from?" Abe asked, not doing too well in the situation. He was used to just being the medical officer. Babka looked to Brie who was trying her best to get shots off from her position, but it was difficult because she primarily used the sniper rifle, but the distance from her opponents wasn't giving her the best chance to pick off enemies.

Babka then looked over to Rushan with Dean on the other side.

"Rushan!" Babka yelled, trying to be heard over all the firepower and gunshots. Rushan turned to look at his Captain, Dean looked over too. "Behind you, grab those rifles, push some over here!"

Rushan looked behind him, then back to Babka. He nodded and rushed over to a crate that had weapons inside. He pulled out a rifle for himself and handed one to Dean, who began shooting back right away, trying his best to help sort out that situation. He pushed two rifles over to the other side, for Babka and Abe to use, and then he started firing back. Soon enough Abe, Rushan, and Dean were all firing off at the same time, doing their best to keep the eighty soldiers at bay.

Brie managed to strike one of them with her sniper and they were knocked back to the ground, almost easily, but it didn't last. The soldier started to stand up again and seemed fine, if a little surprised by the strength of the bullet.

"Fuck!" Brie cursed, pulling back and staying in cover. "Their armour is too strong. My bullet did nothing," She informed the others. Babka looked to her and then back towards the main truck they used for HQ, then his eyes fell on the little bird's nest they had set-up for a lookout spot. He knew that Brie should get there and fire from further away and higher up, but it wasn't safe to get there.

At that moment, Fat Rascal burst out of the HQ door, holding a rocket launcher. He fired it towards one of the vans behind the soldiers. It completely destroyed the van and the strength of the explosion knocked some of the soldiers to the ground. Everyone turned to look at Fat Rascal as he threw the rocket launcher down and pulled his light machine gun around and opened fire as he walked forward.

Rascal's fire was hectic enough to force some of those soldiers to back off, but the distraction wouldn't last long. If people were to move, they had to do it quickly. Babka looked to Brie and motioned his head towards the bird's nest. Brie rushed over, keeping her head down, and managed to climb up around the back of the bird's nest, so she could avoid being spotted. When she was up there, she laid out all her ammunition, in case she needed to change things up. The armour those soldiers were wearing was strong, so she needed to try and figure out the best way to take them down.

Rascal moved up alongside his Captain and ducked into cover.

"Any idea what the hell is going on?" Rascal asked.

"Not a clue. They showed up out of nowhere," Babka explained, and then his eyes fell upon Holline fighting against Joji. "The red head is on our side, apparently," Babka said to his subordinate. "There's another girl fighting another one of those guys."

"That's the girl from yesterday's attack, right? The tournament contestant?" Rascal asked.

"Yep, and the champion is somewhere fighting as well, speaking of which, he may need our help," Babka said. He peeked over the top of the cover and tried to get an idea of what the soldiers were doing next, then he dropped back down and looked to the HQ. "I need to go give Magdalena and Hannah their orders," Babka said, reloading his rifle. "Give me cover!"

He jumped up and sprayed fire before running back towards the main HQ. Rascal stood up and opened fire with his LMG.

Babka reached the door of the HQ and burst in. He saw that Magdalena was already readying her drones and Hannah was doing something with the communications system.

"What do you need us to do, cap?" Magdalena asked, enthusiastically. Babka pointed at the drones.

"We have two allies fighting nearby, and another one in the city. I need drones keeping an eye on them and their opponents, in case they need help," Babka said, turning to Hannah afterwards. "Hannah, I need you to contact the local authorities, police, fire department, they need to make sure all civilians are steered clear of the area, got it?"

Both Hannah and Magdalena understood their instructions and got right to it. Magdalena sent two drones out to monitor the situation in the current area and set them to sit in one position above the site. One facing forward, and one facing backwards. Then she sent three more out and monitored those on her control pad, so she could find their allies.

"Who am I looking for, sir?" Magdalena asked.

"The two from yesterday, the world champion and his red head friend, the other girl was the champions girlfriend," Babka said, sounding like there was still a hint of animosity in his voice. He didn't like the idea of working with them but needs must. Magdalena got back to her control pad.

"Ok, I've found the girls. They look like their fighting two random dudes in black outfits," She mentioned, tapping away on her pads. "I've set the drones to lock-on to them and follow. Now to find the guy."

Hannah got on with her own task and was sending out messages to all nearby police and other authorities that could move into the area to try and keep civilians away from danger. Babka was sorting out his rifle, grabbing a few more magazines and also loading his shotgun, ready for some more combat, but then he noticed Dean's notepad still hanging out of his pocket.

He pulled it out and flicked through.

He moved to one of the consoles and started to call for someone. After a few moments, Jack Colby appeared on the screen, still wearing those sunglasses.

"What is going on over there, Captain?" Colby asked.

"We're under attack, but we're going to get it under control," Babka said, hopeful. "That's not why I called you. I have acquired a lot more information to help with this case."

"It's about time," Colby mentioned. Babka groaned.

"It's from that police officer. He gave himself to us willingly, and with it he gave us some more information, I'm sending it all to you," Babka said, putting the notepad inside a scanner which seemed to pull up all the information that Dean had written down about the case. All the names of people involved, absolutely everything he had learned. Colby looked through it and scoffed.

"It'll be hard to actually link this to Alpha, it's just a lot of names, and at least three of these people are dead," Colby said, "But I suppose I can run it by Commander Kirsch and see what he thinks our next course of action should be."

Colby shut off communications immediately after that. Babka groaned again and walked back to his weapons.

"I guess that means we're not getting reinforcements?" Magdalena mentioned. Babka turned and glared at her.

"You just get on with your tasks, let me know if anything changes," Babka said, grabbing his weapons and rushing out of the HQ again. Hannah quickly turned around.

"The names of the three helping us are Noca, Holline, and Pan," Hannah said, letting her colleague know, so it was easier to refer to them over any communications. Magdalena focussed on her screens and threw up a larger version on a bigger screen so that Hannah could help with monitoring everything once the authorities had all been alerted.

Back outside Babka rushed forward and lined up with the others and continued to fire at the attackers. It was going to be a hard day for the Secret Service.

Pan was acrobatically dodging around her disguised opponent, doing her best to avoid being hit, and she was doing a very good job. Her pace was a lot for Shai to handle and he was beginning to grow frustrated as Pan continued to jump and roll around, avoiding punches. She was taunting him, and he knew it. There was an arrogance to Pan's movements that she hadn't displayed a lot when fighting.

"You should give up now," Pan said, as she dropped behind Shai and flipped backwards as he attempted to swing around and whack her with his arm. Pan darted forwards, punching him in the face, and landed on the other side. Turning to face him again, casually. "I beat you before, I can do it again."

She charged in for another punch but to Shai's face, but he managed to catch her arm and threw her down on the ground. Pan powered out her Ki to break free of his grip and managed to bounce back a couple of steps to safety.

"That was in the tournament," Shai said, cracking his knuckles, and walking towards Pan. "There were rules in that arena. Here, there are no rules."

Shai charged towards her again and Pan just about ducked out of the way and rolled to the side to gain some space, but Shai turned and very quickly flashed towards her. He punched forward and sent Pan flying back into the door of a parked car. She dented the vehicle, smashed the window, and fell to the ground on her knees but pushed up and dodged to the side quick enough to avoid Shai's follow up. The disguised man dropped out of the sky and crashed right into the car, obliterating it.

He turned to look for where Pan went but she moved back towards him quickly and kicked him in the face. The strength knocked him through the air but he stopped himself and threw a Ki blast. Pan quickly kicked it straight up into the air, hoping that would clear it away from causing any harm.

Shai charged in again, with a punch aimed for Pan's gut, the Saiyan girl managed to twist and move over the arm and flip over Shai. She performed a spinning kick into the back of his head and sent him into the ground. He rolled over onto his front as Pan dropped in with a punch that only struck concrete. Pan groaned and turned to face Shai as he fired another Ki blast and that time it struck Pan, exploded, and sent her flying back towards a building. She powered out to stop herself, but Shai continued forward again.

He shot towards her and punched her, following through and pushing her right through the wall and into that building, which turned out to be some sort of small supermarket. They smashed through another wall and ended up in a restaurant which, luckily, was closed and empty. Pan flipped back and landed behind a table. Shai threw another Ki blast at the girl and Pan acted swiftly.

The Saiyan girl kicked up the table in front of her, blocking the Ki blast, which exploded up impact with the table, sending little shards of wood scattering, so Shai had to cover his face. Pan, meanwhile, had rushed forward, keeping low and appeared in front of Shai, sending an uppercut into his chin and knocking him up through the ceiling. She jumped up to meet him and with an overhead kick she sent him back down into the restaurant and smashing through another table.

Shai landed on his back and groaned, gently moving back to his feet. Pan landed where she had been before and stood, in her stance, with a smirk on her face.

"I will crush you!" Shai yelled, and he started to charge forward again, throwing any tables or chairs out of his way. Pan backed up quickly and led Shai right into the wall. She jumped up at the last moment and he crashed through the brick and came out on another street on the other side. He turned around and very swiftly threw a barrage of Ki blasts into the restaurant, blowing most of it to pieces.

By the time he eventually stopped, and was certain nothing was left, a few police cars pulled up. Two on one side of him, one on the other. A total of six police officers. Shai looked to his left and saw two police officers pull out their pistols. He looked to the right and saw four police officers pull out their weapons. He smirked underneath his mask and began to power up a Ki barrier that would explode out.

Before he had a chance to unleash it, he was kicked back inside the restaurant and then his Ki wave went off, shattering the windows of many nearby buildings, and the police cars. The cops took cover behind their vehicles for the moment. When they were sure it was safe to reveal themselves, they looked up and saw Pan standing there. They aimed their guns at her for a split second.

"Hold on, that's Mr. Satan's grand-daughter?" One of them said, and they all put their weapons down. Pan didn't pay them any attention. She knew Shai wasn't done for yet. The wreckage of the restaurant shifted, and Shai burst out. Pan threw up her defence, expecting Shai to go for her but he instead went for the two police cars on that one side. He lifted up one of them and smashed it down on the other, destroying them both and then he fired a Ki blast at the other on.

Pan very quickly phased over to the blast and was unable to move quick enough to make a block or knock it away and took the full force of the blast. She was knocked back further down the street, but she had protected that car and the two police officers cowering behind it.

At least for a moment. Pan was feeling the sting of that blast and looked at her right arm to see her jacket had been torn and she had been cut, ever so slightly. Shai was left with six alive police officers and without a second though they all opened fire on him. The bullets did nothing against his protective gear, plus with his Ki focussed it created a strong enough barrier to protect him against any damage. He stood by and chuckled to himself as the police closed around him, effectively leading themselves into a position where he could take them all out in one move.

Pan stood up and removed her jacket, dropping it to the ground. She growled and raised her Ki, bringing out her white shining aura and drawing Shai's undivided attention. He quickly sent out a pulse of his own energy and pushed all the police officers away, leaving them unharmed, and then he charged for Pan. The Saiyan returned the favour and the two of them clashed together in the middle of the street, with Pan proving to be the stronger in that face-off.

Shai was knocked back down the street and landed down on the ground. Pan began to walk towards him, feeling like this fight was going to be a walk in the park, and the outcome the same as the tournament.

Holline found herself locked in a similar altercation to Pan, coming up against someone larger than her, yet slower. The red head was utilising her speed and small stature to help give her an advantage over her opponent, who relied solely on brute force. The girl was keeping herself close to Joji and opted to dodge and avoid his attacks rather than fight back. This meant that she limited the distance they covered with their fight. This was the opposite of what had happened with Noca, who was pushed to the other side of the park, and also Pan, who we know was fighting somewhere else in the city.

Joji wasn't enjoying his fight as it turned into him flailing his arms and legs trying to strike an opponent who kept moving around him. Joji was becoming disoriented and even a little dizzy from all the turning around he was doing. Holline knew exactly what she was doing in that situation, and knew that when an opening appeared, she would be more than capable of grabbing her chance and fighting back, efficiently.

As they fought, or dance, or whatever you could call what was happening, a drone hovered above them, nearby, capturing everything as it happened. On the other end, watching, was Magdalena and Hannah, although the latter was more focussed on the other two and making sure any authorities were keeping those areas clear. Magdalena was impressed by what she was seeing.

Holline had taken notice of the drone while continuing her dodging effort but tried her best to ignore its presence so she didn't become distracted. From her position she wasn't sure if the person using the drone was an ally, or an enemy. She didn't know it was the Secret Service that had deployed that drone, for all she knew this was another thing related to Joji, and the others. It didn't appear to have any way to attack them, so she was able to push it to the back of her mind.

Joji noticed the distraction but did well to not be attracted to whatever it was that had caught her eye. He just continued his attacks and started to build up some intensity, bringing down heavier and more hectic attacks. Holline recognised that Joji was changing his pattern because she couldn't find a pattern. He wasn't focussed on precise and measured attacks anymore. He just wanted to try and hit her.

That led to Holline finding some difficulty in avoiding all of his attacks and she very soon took a punch to the shoulder, struggling to dodge out of the way in time. It knocked her off balance and she stumbled back, giving Joji some space to move freely. He broke into a charge and rushed towards the red head. Holline quickly attempted to duck down underneath the punch and move past Joji quickly, but Joji managed to swing out another arm and knocked Holline to the side.

The girl stumbled back and had to quickly avoid a swift movement from Joji, and instead of moving close and keeping low, she instead jumped back, creating more space. She noticed that as she did so, the drone seemed to adjust its movement and follow on with her. Joji rushed at her again, throwing his arms at her in an attempt to grapple her but the red head jumped up and over. As she landed, she turned around and used her energy to send out a pulse that pushed Joji back, but only a little bit. He managed to remain on his feet and retaliated by throwing a Ki blast towards the red head.

Thinking very quickly, Holline jumped up to avoid the blast, making the mistake of letting it sail towards the building behind her. It crashed through a wall and, lucky for her, it wasn't powerful enough to create a large explosion and only shattered the windows. But it did work as a good distraction as Joji rushed in again and grabbed Holline around the head.

"Got you," He snarled.

Meanwhile, watching through the drone camera was Magdalena and she didn't like seeing that the girl was in a tight situation. She tapped something once her pad and she took control of the drone, aiming the camera towards Joji. She pressed another button and then prepared to move the drone quickly.

A small projectile shot out from underneath the drone, a tiny projectile, and it struck Joji in the head. He turned to see where it had come from, but the drone had already moved. Holline took notice of it and found a chance to take an advantage. She lifted her leg up and kicked Joji in the head, causing him to loosen his grip. Holline pushed away, landed on the ground, and rolled back. When she stopped, she fired a two-handed Ki blast into Joji's gut and knocked him off of his feet.

He flew back into a parked car. Holline looked up at the drone, recognising that whoever was on the other end was a friend.
