Jane was happy to know she didn't need an outfit after all, Aria had suggested it would probably be better if she just acted as her guard. So now she was in the cargo bay pulling on her under suit and an armour black in style, forgoing her trademark red so as to not give any reason to suspect her identity. She felt for the first time in the two weeks she'd been on the ship, well rested and that was in no small amount to a certain Turian. Garrus had regaled her with tales of their battles, friends, enemies, adventures, close calls and everything he could possibly think of before it got too late and he insisted he stopped. But she'd made him promise to come back to her quarters again and finish the story another night, she shook her head with a pleasing chuckle, her life was now a story to her. After lunch with the memories Garrus had tried to conjure up the night before playing in her mind, she had discussed with Doctor Chakwas when she should regain her memory back and the kind woman informed her that the drug was now fully out of her system. So it would either trickle back or something could trigger it, or and the most concerning her brain may simply never remember. Jane tried not to think on that last thought, today was a positive day. Arming herself with her shotgun and pistol she moved to the shuttle, this was in a way a solo mission, she would have Aria but none of her crew would be there to have her back. Garrus hadn't been pleased with this idea at all and demanded that she allow him to put together a secondary team that would be in the immediate area should she require an evacuation. Jane had seen the sense in that and assuring they kept themselves off the radar it wouldn't do any harm in having a backup.

Pulling herself into the shuttle she let Cortez know she was ready and they set off. The second shuttle housing Grunt, Garrus and Javik broke off from hers to stay hidden unless needed. When she met at Aria's specified location she vacated the shuttle and was immediately rushed into another one, she saw a quick peek of the setting sun, orange a reds casting across the sky before ducking into the vehicle.

Aria sat with her right leg crossed over her left and hands clasped loosely in her lap. Jane removed her helmet and gave the Asari a smile,

"Thank you for your assistance in this matter Aria." She said in earnest sitting opposite the woman in the shuttle. Aria nodded in acceptance of her thanks but said no more. "Has Ettlemen said what he's meaning to showcase?" Jane questioned though she already had a pretty good Idea what it would be.

"No, just said in the invite it would be worth my while." Aria sighed and regarded Jane with a thoughtful look, "do you know what it is?" She asked and cocked her head assessing her.

Jane heaved in a breath and nodded, no point in lying to the woman when she would find out for herself soon enough. "It's hard to explain the whole story so I'll just show you it." Jane uttered, putting her finger to her ear she radioed the Normandy. "EDI could you send me the footage of Doctor Ettlemens lab please?" Jane asked and EDI complied.

"I have sent you the necessary files Shepard." EDI chimed back and Jane flicked through them on her omni-tool before sending the footage across the Aria.

"Thanks EDI."

"You're welcome." EDI replied. Aria went silent as she watched the footage on her omni-tool, her face cold of emotion but her eyes looked more than a little disturbed.

"Is he cloning you?" She asked incredulously, and Jane nodded. "Sorry hun but who the hell would want to clone you. One of you is enough of a pain in the ass!" Aria stated and Jane snorted out a laugh.

"I'm going to assume they'll have control chips or something. I don't know." She answered truthfully. "But now you know why we need to stop it. This is dangerous for everyone." Jane reiterated and Aria breathed in deeply before slowly expelling a gust of anxious air from her lungs.

"No shit, you ain't wrong there. So what you going to do to your clone?" Aria questioned and quirked an eyebrow in intrigue. Jane shrugged not seeming fazed by the question,

"I'll kill her, apparently this has happened before and she was like the anti me…bad egg through and through." Jane reasoned and Aria rolled her eyes in disbelief,

"And what if this one isn't evil, what you going to do with her then? Adopt her into you crew like all the other miscreants that you've picked up along the way." Aria pointed out and Jane frowned in thought. She hadn't considered that, she automatically assumed they'd be evil but what if they were a victim of this like she was. Jane groaned and rubbed her face with her hands in an exasperated manner,

"I'll deal with that if I have to, for now I'm going to assume hostile like the last clone he made." Jane said firmly and they fell silent the rest of the journey as Jane tried her hardest to push uncomfortable thoughts away of her clones.

When the shuttle stilled Aria pulled Shepard to stand and abruptly shoved a finger in her face.

"Listen here Shepard, I invited you here so for all intense purposes I gave you an in. That doesn't mean you can go in all guns blazing unless someone goes for you first. This is an in and out mission and as far as I'm concerned your just my hired security." Her voice was strong with no room for negotiation and Jane found herself approving even more of the woman. She quirked her lip up into an amused smirked,

"Yes ma'am, loud and clear." Jane said and clipped her ankles together as she stood to her full height, as if being address by an officer. Aria glared at her for it and shook her head in an annoyance,

"Put you damned helmet on. You're lucky he didn't see you yesterday dumb ass." She snarled. Jane did as she asked despite of the attitude and the shuttle doors opened, not unlike the previous event at the gallery there was a greeter. Aria handled him with less finesse than Kai Leng but was quickly through with not so much as a glance to Jane, who strode between two more of Aria's guards, one a Turian and another a Batarian.

The estate was massive and surrounded with armed guards, cameras in every corner and Jane wondered how her recon team had ever got in here without detection. Sure enough like her team had found they came to a coded doorway, that once one of Ettlemens men had typed a code in it dematerialised into nothing revealing concrete steps that went down.

Aria paused staring after Ettlemens man that had already descended, she looked to Jane and jerked her head, "after you." She ordered and Jane huffed but did as she said. The stairs tunnelled in a downwards spiral and were lit with LED light incorporated into each step. When they reached the bottom they came to a hall that was simply a metal bunker with two doors leading off to the left and right, Jane deduced one must have gone to his labs where the clones were.

There were at least 30 or more other guests here to witness what Ettlemen had to offer the black market. Most had at least a guard with them if not two or if you were Aria three security personnel, though Jane supposed she didn't really count. Aria found a seat at the back and seated herself, Jane and the other two guards remaining stood.

"You," she clicked her fingers at Shepard which Shepard didn't feel was completely necessary, "be a dear and grab me a drink, I could murdered someone for some alcohol." Aria breathed in exasperation but then gave Jane a rather pointed look, it then dawned on Jane Aria was giving her the opportunity to find some intel.

"Yes Aria." Jane excused herself and quickly darted around the guests trying to overhear anything useful. Nothing sprung up which was disappointing and when she went to examine the doors she found them both locked and she couldn't just stand there and begin hacking the door controls. Heading to the refreshments table Jane grabbed a drink for Aria and made her way back to the Asari.

When she was back by her side she handed her the cocktail glass of pink liquid, Aria cocked an eyebrow up at her and smirked,

"This looks, fruity." She said simply and Jane just crossed her arms and cocked back onto one leg,

"And that's a problem why?" Jane breath and Aria just shook her head in amusement,

"I'm more of a beer fan." Aria drawled before quieting to a whisper. "Did you find anything?" She questioned her own eyes darting around the patrons,

"No, nothing that's useful anyway. Both doors are code locked so no use trying them when it's so busy in here." Jane answered in a clear disgruntled fashion and Aria rolled her eyes at her.

"What did you expect? To come in and just find what you want behind the first door!" Aria admonished with a snort and Jane shrugged her shoulders, she hadn't thought it would be that easy but she thought she'd be able to at least find something useful.

"My recon team managed to get in here last night without any issues." Jane defended and Aria stilled before turning her head to her slowly with a glare.

"You idiot. You've seen how heavy the security is here…do you really think they would have got in here without a hitch if he hadn't wanted them too." Aria snarled and Jane blanched behind her mask.

"Why would he want me to have evidence of his work. How could he possibly benefit from that!?" Jane snapped back and Aria's eyes turned into slits as she contemplated the answer, as she did so the lights dimmed slightly and the guests were urged to their seats. The door they came through was locked and two guards stationed in front of it as a lighting appeared to the front of the room illuminating Doctor Ettlemen, who Jane didn't even notice enter.

"Fuck, he's set a trap." Aria breathed her jaw going tense as her fingers began twitching for her pistol.

Jane felt her blood freeze and tried to radio her back up team but found the signal jammed.

"He's jammed the signal!" Jane hissed and looked around for a possible way out. Seeing none that were viable she clenched her hands into fists and watched on, resigned to see how this played out.

"Have I ever told you how much I fucking hate you sometimes." Aria breathed out and Jane gave a reassuring laugh,

"Hey, you offered to help. At Least you can't say I'm ever boring." Jane argued and they fell silent as soon as Ettlemen began talking.

"Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen." He began. His brown hair was slicked back with gel and he wore a simple black shirt and dark grey suit pants, a brown leather belt with matching brown leather brogues finished the outfit. Jane looked on his person for weapons and so far could only make out a pistol strapped to his hip.

"Thank you for joining me today, and I can only assure you it won't be a waste of your time." His voice bounced off the walls in the room "you are guests of honour and you've all been chosen because of your individual merits to the society of ours which primarily profits from…well simply put, crime." He shrugged his broad shoulders and smirked as a few people chuckled at his words. " but I digress. After I've shown you what I mean to put on the black market, you'll all be wanting to invest. Not only that you'll all be wanting what I have for your own…and I'm willing to give that to you for a cost of course." He purred.

Jane frowned at his words, she had thought he'd been making clones as his own personal army, not to sell off. The original belief based on the footage back off Aeia was that he wanted to use the clones to his own gain and benefit humanity.

"Without further adieu let me introduce my product." Ettlemen motioned to the door to the left and it slid open.

Janes mind went blank as her telltale red armoured form moved into view. Long blond shoulder length hair swaying about her shoulders, a assault rifle clung tightly in her hands as her steps echoed across the room. The guests gasps and a murmur of whispers across "I thought she died" one person said while another across the room "That's Commander Shepard! Saviour of the Galaxy!"

"I know what you're thinking, is this Commander Shepard reincarnated, but it's not, it's not the same woman. It is her exact copy but better, this is Commander Jane Shepard without her self righteous attitude and opinionated views. She is as strong, intelligent, fast, cunning but you tell her what to do." He announced as crowed looked on in awe. "We have designed her from her predecessors genetic makeup. She is the flesh and blood that made the legend who she was, but now all that can be yours." He left that up in the air for a moment. Jane watched her clone scan the crowd like a robot her eyes finally settling uncomfortably on Janes armoured form. Her heart picked up as her clone refused to look else where and despite Janes helmet she just knew the clone was aware of who she was.

"Looks like she doesn't like you." Aria whispered then chuckled dangerously "kinda funny seeing you get that stare for once." She joked despite the situation and Jane glowered as much as she could through the helmet.

"We have a small demonstration for you tonight. A chance to see the products skills in action." Ettlemen began again and Jane tore her gaze for a moment from her clone. He too was now smiling over at Jane. "As I'm sure you're all aware what it's like with business competitors in our sector of work," he explained "I believe it's time for me to wipe this particular thorn in my side from existence." He then turned his head to the clone and gave a minute nod and in a flurry of motion Jane had her pistol drawn her biotics quickly formed a barrier. The crowd quickly dispersed with some screams but mainly a morbid fascination seemed to be the general consensus.

"Fuck this shit!" Aria yelled and threw her cocktail on the floor the glass shattering as her biotics came alive. She sent a shockwave down the middle of the rest of the guest, not enough power behind it to harm anyone but enough to get everyone out of the way. Jane nodded in approval and suddenly the clone came into view, she had no emotion on her face, just a blank expression as she walked calmly into the centre of the room,

"Stop! You don't have to do this!" Jane tried to plead. The clone cocked her head and then let a rather plain smile crawl across her face,

"I don't have a choice. I can't control what I do Doctor Ettlemen does. Even so I've been built to be without emotions, they are a weakness." She said simply then lifted her assault rifle up and began fire. Jane grabbed Aria around the waist and biotically charged them both behind a pillar with some guests, Aria's guards using turned over tables as cover.

"Well guess that's solves our earlier dilemma. Definitely a bitch!" Aria shouted and came from around the corner to fire two shots in the clones direction. The clone rolled out of the way and was still too preoccupied with Aria's guards, Jane sent a push with her biotics and shoved the clone out of cover but her shields held up and no shots got through.

"More like a robot, she's just pointed at someone and told to shoot." Jane uttered and again tried to get a shot on her clone but she dodged it expertly.

The crowd were enthralled with the excitement of the firefight regardless of the fact someone was about to die, "I hate Bekenstein." Jane growled under her breath at the thought.

Suddenly one of the crowd pushed Shepard in the back and she swung on them with a fist, connecting to the strangers abdomen, "What the fuck?" Jane asked more to Aria as they noticed more of the crowd turn on Shepard.

"They came for a show and you're hiding behind a pillar." Aria explained as she sent a push to the crowd sending them sprawling. "Take off your helmet." She demanded and jane looked to her,

"That doesn't sound like a great plan-"

"Take off that fucking helmet! You're the saviour of the galaxy, that means something even hear!" Aria declared and Jane hesitated for a moment before yanking the clasps off and throwing it to the floor. The crowd gasped and looked perplexed, so Jane stood forward as Aria turned back to keep clone Shepard occupied a little longer,

"I AM Commander Shepard of the Alliance Navy. I DID stop the Reapers!" Jane shouted with power behind her words, the feeling of having all eyes on her no more natural to her than breathing. "and I DID NOT! Come through all the shit I've been through just to get crowd surfed into my death!" Jane growled, briefly hearing Aria laughing darkly at her words. "If you can't help me then I suggest you leave. I killed a Reaper single handed," Jane voice went an octave lower and she strode a few more steps up to the man who she'd punched. "What do you think I'll do to you after I'm done with the knock off over there if you try to cross me again." She said with a calm danger and light in her eyes that promised pain. They nodded and some began trying to flee only to be stopped by the guards at the door, that's when a separate fire fight began between the guests security and Ettlemens guards.

Jane ignored that and chose to focus back on the more pressing issue. Her clone had taken down Aria's Batarian guard and now illuminated with her biotics to charge the Turian. Jane quickly used her own to pull the guard towards them and shove him into cover.

"Help the guests get out, me and Aria have this one." Jane commanded and he nodded with a stunned gaze for a second. Aria glared at him and pointed to Ettlemens guards,

"Go man! You heard her! Go!" She yelled with more force and he skuttled off as quick as he could. "he and Vortough were friends, this bitch needs to die Shepard and quickly!" Aria explained and Jane deduced Vortough was the now dead Batarian guard.

The Clone turned again to Jane and used her biotics to charge before Jane could move, she was hit with the force of her biotics and sent sprawling to the floor. She looked up to see Aria going hand to hand but only briefly before the clone gave her a uppercut from pushing off her right leg, sending Aria's legs off the floor and landing to the ground motionless.

The sounds of the firefighting around her seemed to slow down to nothing as her clone turned to her with a motionless expression and approached gun drawn and pointed it to Shepard head. Jane closed her eyes and felt a pain in the back of her skull as everything came rushing back,

"I'm Garrus Vakarian and I'm looking into Saren, he's dirty I just know it." A younger Garrus said through clenched teeth and Jane found herself approving of him.

Time jumped forward and she was on Virmire, "Ash I'm so sorry, Kaidan is with the bomb I have to make sure it goes-"

"It's okay skipper! You've made the right choice." Ashley's voice was strong and Jane felt a tear slid over her cheek as she stood at the railing between the possible paths she could choose. Wrex came up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder,

"We have to go Commander." He said reassuringly, ignoring the tears she was shedding. She hadn't lost anyone in her team since Akuze. Jane open palmed smacked the railing repeatedly sending a metallic ringing sound through the air, before breathing in deeply and nodding,

"Ash! I wish we could have gone for those drinks." Jane whispered over the comm.

"Me too Jane, Me-" Her radio cut off to static and Jane knew what had happened. She raised her gun and ran back to the bomb.

A whirlwind of images and she was in the comm room on the old Normandy watching as Virmire was made into dust. She shook with rage, sadness, grief, loss and then finally let a sob rack through her body. She thought she had been along but felt an arm snake around her shoulders and pull her into an armoured chest, she looked up and saw Garrus not looking at her but out of the window. He was rumbling a reassuring sound and she smiled up at him unsure,

"I didn't know Turians hugged Vakarian." She breathed out with a hiccup in her voice, feeling anger again at the lack of strength behind it. He smiled down at her and let out a sad chuckle,

"During my times working for C-sec I saw a few things Shepard. I understand that humans hug when someone needs comforting." He explained and tucked an errant hair behind her ear. Something flickered in her heart for a moment, something that hadn't been there for years and she quickly shoved it away ignoring the look in his eyes.

Another set of images flicking through her mind and she found herself in the blackness of space clawing at her throat to get air, the Normandy in ruins around her as her vision went black.

Her memories came hurling back bombarding her mind and making her scream in agony and finally they finished with one more.

"This, this is what you were born to do!" Garrus stated with such conviction that it took her breath away as they sat together on their bed. "so we're going out there and we're going to kick the Reapers back into whatever hole they crawled from. And you're going to do it in style because you'll have one handsome Turian covering you six."

And sure enough she came back to with the gun in her clones hand being thrown to the side as a shot hit the clone in the hand.

"Get off your ass Jane!" Garrus yelled and she reacted, biotically throwing her clone she quickly got to her feet and ran to where the back up team were. Garrus pulled her down into cover behind him and Jane took a moment to gather her bearings. The guards had been dealt with and the crowd was gone with Aria and her guard, Ettlemen was also no where to be seen. So now it was just Shepard and her team and the clone, Jane was still trying to comprehend everything but now she knew who she was, she was just trying to come to terms with that fact she was alive, she had survived the Reaper war and destroyed the Reapers, so had Garrus and the majority of her team.

With that thought she let her lips curl over her teeth in a feral smile,

"Time to put this bitch in the ground!" She snarled with a manic glee and pulled her shotgun off her back, Garrus grabbed her elbow looked at her with concern, "Not now big guy, the quicker I do this the quicker we can reacquaint properly." She purred seductively and Garrus's eyes widened in shock,

"You, remember-" He stuttered and Jane cupped his mandible gently before resting her forehead against his quickly.

"I sure do." She whispered before pulling away and this time he let her. She grabbed the barrel of her shotgun and jerked it to load before wolf whistling to gain the clones attention who was firing at Javik, "Hey Blondie, this Galaxy isn't big enough for the both of us!" She growled and fired the shotgun in her direction the spray catching the clones shield as she rolled out of the way. She charged Jane again but this time she was ready and put up a strong biotic barrier making the clone stumble in front of her on contact. Bringing the butt of the shotgun round she cracked the clone over the head then front kicked a solid boot into her belly making her go flying onto the ground, "I've had enough of clones." She said finally and cocked the shotgun one more time before aiming at her opponents head an firing. The clones head exploded in red and sprayed blood onto her face but she didn't mind, technically it was her own blood in a way. She turned round slowly and smiled ruthlessly at her team, cocked her hip to the side and placing a hand on it letting the shotgun rest on her shoulder.

"Jane?" Garrus whispered as he dropped his gun and Jane let a small sombre smile form,

"I'm back." She said with a firm voice, finally feeling the strength and courage in herself that she had lacked the last year. Garrus then sprinted up to her and she also dropped her shotgun on the floor as she embraced him. He lifted her off the ground and she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist, nuzzling his face into her neck and rumbling a happy growl.

"I've missed you, I've missed you so much." He breathed and Jane could also hear grief in his voice. They held each other and allowed their embrace to soak away their pain, now she was finally whole and back in her partners arms where she belonged.
