Linda and Blu left the library to go to a local hotel that was down the street. Before going there, the woman locked the building. Because it was the winter season, it was already quite dark and chilly. Thanks to the lamps, there was any kind of visibility, as well as the cars that drove along this street. A light snow was falling, covering the pavements, which were already covered with white powder. After 5 minutes the woman was with her charge at the hotel. The whole way Linda did not say a word, she was silent as the grave. When she entered the hotel, the receptionist immediately directed her to room number 55, because she had been informed that Linda would be a guest. After shaking the snow off her shoes at the entrance, the woman went up the stairs to the second floor. It was an elegant hotel, a red decorated carpet of high quality material was rolled out on the stairs, the handrails of the stairs were made of ornate wood, old but classic candles were mounted on the sides, which lit up the hall with a warm flame. When the woman reached the 2nd floor she started looking for room number 55. She headed to the right, the room she was looking for was on the right at the end of the hallway. She knocked gently on the door.
"Come in Linda" sounded Tulia's voice behind the door. Linda opened the door slowly and stepped inside. Tulio was currently packing his suitcase, packing his clothes that he had brought behind him into it.
Linda's attention was mainly drawn to the fact that Jewel was not in a cage.
"Why isn't Jewel in a cage?"
"I'm surprised myself, but she's acting extremely calm. She's not doing anything wrong, so she can stay," replied Tulio as he packed his luggage. He zipped up his suitcase and set the large grey bag on the ground.
"Well, I'm ready. Hand me Blu and we can go"
"Actually, I wanted to ask if I could come with you to the airport?"
"Well... Actually, yes, you can, but how will you get back to Minnesota?"
"I'll take a taxi."
"Well, if you want. Let's go to the car" Tulio said, then started to walk downstairs with his luggage. Behind him was Linda, who saw Blu had already sat on Tulio's shoulder to talk to Jewel. The woman felt a little angry about the fact that Blu preferred Jewel to her, but on the other hand she couldn't particularly blame him. In the car park the car was already waiting for them, which had been started up so that it would be warm during the journey. Blu and Jewel sat in the back and Linda sat in the front, next to Tulia.
"I'm finally going to leave this place... " sighed Tulio as he drove out of the car park, following the GPS.
"Was it that bad for you here?"
"It's basically the weather. It's rarely cool in Brazil, and here it's an everyday occurrence. Not enough time to get used to it."
"Yeah... In general, what will happen to them next?"
"You mean Blu and Jewel?"
"Mhm"
"Well... They'll stay in the aviary for a few days at first, and then we'll see how things develop."
"An aviary like the one you made at my place? That's right, these things stayed with me..."
"Unfortunately I didn't have a way to take these things... I'll send my colleagues to you in the next few days, they'll collect everything" the man replied starting up the radio. It was already quite dark, so Tulio wanted to focus on the road as it was snowing and there was ice on the asphalt, making the grip on the road very low. Behind Tulio and Linda, Blu and Jewel were having a conversation. Their cages were in the boot, as was the man's luggage.
"You'll see, you'll love Brazil," said Jewel as they chatted to each other about the new location they would be living in.
"Is it as hot there as they say?"
"Not really, quite a lot of things are fake... Don't worry Blu, you'll get used to everything, I'll help you with that"
"Good...first of all I will have to get used to the time zone change"
"Why are you so scared?"
"I'm not scared... It's just... Ekh... It's a new place, I don't know how to live there and..."
"We can do it together" Jewel interrupted for him by putting her wing on his shoulder. The look in Jewel's turquoise eyes made Blu calm down.
"Maybe you're right... I'm overreacting a bit" sighed Blu, to which Jewel responded with a chuckle, then kissed Blu on the beak.
"It'll be fine, you'll see," repeated Jewel once more. They walked the rest of the way in silence. Blu stopped his gaze on the glass and observed, most probably for the last time, the territory of Minnesota, where he had stayed for 15 years. To be honest he couldn't see much, it was quite dark and in addition it was snowing. Thanks to the lamps, which appeared every dozen meters or so, he could see something more, either through the passing cars from the opposite direction.
After 15 minutes, they arrived in front of the airport, where Blu and Linda's separation was to take place.
"Okay, it's here," said Tulio while putting out the car engine. He got out of it, then opened the boot to take out all his things. Once that was done, he closed the boot as well as the car as Linda took the parrots in her arms.
"Let them go into the cage, otherwise they won't let us through" Tulio stated, after which Blu and Jewel headed for the cages.
"We have little time, we must hurry" said the man looking at his watch. It was pointing evenly at 6.00 p.m. Tulio said that there was a plane at that time, but lied to be at the airport a little ahead of time.
"Shouldn't you have a plane now?"
"Well... I lied a little to be at the place a little ahead of time."
"So what time is the plane really?"
"6.10p.m" replied Tulio heading towards the airport lobby. There were a lot of people inside, no wonder, this was the closest airport in a radius of tens or even hundreds of kilometres.
"A lot of people..." sighed Tulio looking around, there was a crowd of people everywhere.
"Let's hurry better to make it in time" suggested Linda. Together they started making their way through the groups of people to get to their plane gate. They soon made it, but there was a long queue stretching half the width of the lobby.
"Phew...we made it, what a queue!" said Tulio leaning out of the queue to see how many people were in front of them. He was surprised to see several dozen of them. The queue was going terribly slowly, every now and then stopping because it was necessary to search some person. After such an action the queue decreased again slowly, with small steps, and so on and so forth, until the end of the guest list was reached.
"We'll be right there... Say goodbye to Blu Linda" said Tulio seeing that there were only 2 people in front of them. Linda lowered herself down to meet Blu face to face. He was depressed about leaving Minnesota, about leaving Linde.
"Hey, don't worry. It'll be fine, you'll see it will work out for you... Fifteen years is a long time anyway, you'll have something to remember... Oh and in general, I'd like to give you something" the woman said pulling out of her pocket a ring with a small diamond in the middle.
"Do you remember? You ordered it for me on my 18th birthday... Unfortunately the other gifts are too big, but this is what I want to give you so you don't forget me quickly" Linda said. Blu smiled delicately, then took out the gift.
"Take care," sighed Linda, then they nailed a turtle with each other. She said goodbye to Tulie, who walked through the gate and headed towards the plane. Linda was left alone.
