A Task Complete.

Things had taken a step in the right direction. Peter and Cassandra had managed to figure out most of Otto's plan, stopped some of his attempts at damaging the city and even managed to take down both Vulture and Electro, both being formidable foes. The battle was enough to tire the heroes out enough for them to decide to take a small break... and that small break led to them sleeping through the rest of the night. Cassandra slowly woke up and noticed it was already morning. She mentally cursed as she didn't mean to fall asleep like that.

"Peter, wake up. We over slept" Cassandra said as she shook Peter awake.

"What time… oh man, how long did we sleep? Need to update Yuri…" Peter said as they got up "Yuri. Vulture and Electro are down; four to go".

"I saw, also noticed a rooftop in Times Square exploded. Wouldn't happen to be related, would it?" Yuri asked.

"Nothing gets by you. It was Octavius' staging ground, he's using the villains to pull apart Oscorp. Vulture and Electro were targeting power plants. Scorpion's going after water treatment. Not sure about Rhino yet, something along the shoreline" Peter explained.

"That's good enough to start. I assume you're going after Scorpion?" Yuri asked.

"Yeah, city's already on the brink. If we lose clean water, we might never come back. I'll update you when me and Batgirl make progress" Peter said.

"Sounds like a plan" Yuri said before they hung up.

"I should check on Miles" Peter said as he called the young boy.

"Hey, Pete. You okay?" Miles asked.

"That's what I was gonna ask you. I'm fine, but you and May are in the middle of it" Peter said.

"We're busy, but people need help. And I'd rather be doing something than waiting around for somebody else to fix things, y'know?" Miles said.

"Yeah. I heard that. Just make sure you protect yourself, mask and gloves. And rest every now and then. All that goes double for May" Peter instructed.

"Nobody can make that woman take a break when she doesn't want to. But I'll do my best" Miles said.

"Thanks, Miles. Give May my love… and be safe" Peter said as he hung up.

"Peter, I am worried about May. This amount of stress can be dangerous for a woman of her age" Cassandra said in clear concern of the kind lady's health.

"I know, but like Miles said: When May has set her mind on something, she will not rest until she's done it. And with so many people in need of help, there is no way she is going to sit back and do nothing. She is selfless to a fault sometimes" Peter said.

Cassandra couldn't help but to smile "Sounds like someone else I know".

Peter chuckled a little "Yeah, I gained my love for the city from her. Anyway, we need to get moving".

"Right, Scorpion is a threat to the water supply. But Rhino is still a problem too, and whatever he is doing at the shorelines can't be good. I say we split up, you go after Scorpion and I will see if I can track down Rhino" Cassandra said.

"Sounds like a plan. Just be careful. Rhino may not be that smart, but he is by far one of, if not the strongest enemy I have ever faced" Peter said.

"So he is more brawn than brain. I am very familiar with those kind of fighters. See you soon Peter" Cassandra said, earning a nod from Peter before they headed out in to the city.

Cassandra began patrolling the shorelines, and so far there wasn't any signs of Rhino anywhere. One would think a big guy like that would have a hard time laying low, but he was proving to be annoyingly hard to find. What didn't help her situation was the fact she had to make constant detours to deal with escaped inmates. Some inmates had set up some kind of bases around the city, so Cassandra ended up spending more time taking them down than actually searching for Rhino. It was annoying, but she couldn't just allow criminals to walk free, even if it was to hunt a more dangerous criminal.

Cassandra finished of the last criminal before giving a tip to Yuri to come and round them up. She headed back to the rooftops and began patrolling again. Still not finding any trace of Rhino anywhere, which annoyed her a little, the longer that lunatic remained free, the more destruction he would cause. She leaps down to an area near the shoreline. Only to notice several Sable agents surround her and aimed their weapons at her.

"Subject Batgirl has been located! Take her down!" The Lead Agent ordered.

Cassandra got ready before dodging several shots. She quickly closed the distance to one of them and quickly knocked the rifle out of his hands before delivering several strikes to the areas no protected by his armor, bringing him down right away. She dodged more shots from their weapons before delivering a jumping kick to his face, knocking him to the ground. Quickly, Another raises his rifle and points it at Cassandra, but she darts forward, lifts the gun up just before he fires, then punches him in the stomach and flings him towards another agent. He stumbles forward as he is thrown and his helmet rams right into his comrade's stomach, causing him to cough in pain. Suddenly, Cassandra kicks both of them in the head before landing a hit to their pressure points by targeting the unprotected areas. Two more agents aims at her, noticing a helmet that had been knocked of from one of the agents, Cassandra kicks it towards them. The helmet hit one of them in the head, before the other one fired rifle, but Cassandra dashed forward to avoid the shots. She then grabs both of them by their chest plates and smashes their heads together before knocking one away with some punches and kicks. The other one opens fire again but Cassandra knocks his rifle away and begins pounding on him with some powerful punches before knocking him to the ground with enough force to finally knock him out.

The Last agent stood behind her, ready to shoot her... only to be shot in the head. Cassandra looked at him before looking in the direction of where the shot came from... and who she saw made her glare "Taskmaster".

The Mercenary looked down on her "You've done well kid. And I see you've gotten yourself an upgrade".

"I have had enough of your games, Taskmaster. Let's settle this, now!" Cassandra declared.

"Surprise me, if you can" Taskmaster as he opened fire at Cassandra, who dodged the shots before throwing some batarangs at Taskmaster who took out his shield to block them, when he looked up again he noticed Cassandra running away "What's this? Trying to escape me now? Sorry kid, but no one escapes me!".

Cassandra knew she couldn't escape him, but that wasn't her goal. Taskmaster is not the only one who's learned from their last battles. If she was going to win against him, she would need to make him fight their battle on her terms. All she had to do was stay one step ahead of him and not allow him to catch her. But Taskmaster wasn't making it easy. He just kept showing up from nowhere, so Cassandra was forced to constantly remain on her toes to avoid him. But in the end they arrived where she wanted them to. An abandoned warehouse that used to be a hideout for the demons before Peter took them down. Cassandra headed inside, with Taskmaster arriving shortly after.

He looked around and saw a lot of old stuff, and the lights were out, making it hard to see "I see, you weren't running. You were leading me to an area of your choosing, clever".

He was kicked in the back, making him stumble before he took out his gun, ready to shoot. But Cassandra wasn't there, so he looked around before an object knocked the gun out of his hand, followed by a strike to his side. He throws a kick, but only hits air. Growling as his annoyance began to build, he turned on the night vision in his mask.

"I will admit, kid. You played me good. But darkness isn't going to help you" Taskmaster declared while looking for his target, and also retrieved his gun.

Suddenly he noticed something being thrown at him. Reacting on instinct he shot it, only for it to burst open, covering him with sand, including his face. He quickly used his hand to wipe the sand of his mask, only for Cassandra to kick him in the face with enough force to send him back, forcing him to perform some back flips to remain on his feet. He's had enough of this, so he took out several explosives and threw them around. When they exploded they also caused a fire, which lit up the room, successfully taking away Cassandra's darkness advantage.

"No where left to hide now, kid" Taskmaster declared.

Cassandra dashed through the fire and let out a small battle cry as he leapt at Taskmaster, wrapping her legs around his neck before using her full weight to throw him head first in to the floor. Taskmaster rolled for a bit, groaning in pain but still got back up to continue the fight. Cassandra slid beneath him, looking to deliver a blow to the back of his neck. However, Taskmaster was well aware of her intentions, elbowing her in the face and then tossing her back over his shoulder to the ground. As Taskmaster prepared to shoot her, Cassandra managed to kick the gun away from her, buying herself a second to kick Taskmaster in the knee and get out of the way. As she pushed off him, Taskmaster took out his energy sword and slashed at her. Cassandra gracefully evaded the first two slashes, flipping backwards, but Taskmaster was not going to let her get away. He kicked her in the chest, sending her into a wall. Cassandra got back up, just in time to duck yet another slash of Taskmasters' blade.

As she scrambled to pass him, Taskmaster elbowed her in the back of the head. Taskmaster then turned, kicking her in the back and before grabbing her and threw her back into a wall. Cassandra dodged a stab from the sword and kicked Taskmaster back. She went for a punch, but Taskmaster saw it coming, and blocked it, allowing him deliver a dazing punch to Cassandra's face. Being dazed left Cassandra vulnerable to several more punches from Taskmaster. Cassandra's head became fuzzy, but she managed to avoid another punch, which made Taskmaster punch the wall, allowing Cassandra to get out of her pinned position. She back flipped away, allowing herself time to catch her breath. Quickly, she threw another sharp bataraing towards Taskmaster. The sharp projectile sank into Taskmaster's hand when he raised his arm to block it. He growls in tome pain but pulled it out before throwing it back at Cassandra who easily dodged it.

He then ran down her, raising his foot and planting it into her chest before she could react. Cassandra crashed to the floor, but rolled out of the way as Taskmaster brought down his sword. As she got up she avoided another another strike from the sword, but this time she noticed a small opening in Taskmaster's armored arm, and delivered a precise strike to it, not enough to disable it, but enough to make him drop his sword. Now it was Cassandra turn to go on the offence. She kneed Taskmaster in the side of the head, before using her legs to put him in a choke hold. Taskmaster struggled, reaching for the knife he kept hidden in his boot. He grabbed it and prepared to stab into Cassandra's leg but just at the last second, she moved her legs and jumped of him.

Cassandra looked at Taskmaster, and he was finally starting to weaken. But Cassandra was nearing the end of her rope as well, she couldn't keep up a prolonged fight like this for much longer. She had to end this, now.

With determination in her eyes, Cassandra activated her shock-gloves. She then dashed forward at full speed before delivering a barrage of punches to Taskmaster's body and face, each punch being more painful due to the electricity and even Taskmaster's armor began to crack from the assault. One punch sent Taskmaster stumbling back and Cassandra quickly pulled out her grappling hook. She fired it right past Taskmaster's head, hitting the wall behind him, she then pulled herself forward and used the momentum to slam both her feet in to Taskmaster's chest, kicking him clean through the wall. Taskmaster rolled backwards for a bit before he hit the wall of the next building before he slid down and leaned against it.

Cassandra looked down on him, breathing hard "It's... over, Taskmaster... I beat you".

Taskmaster coughed before he chuckled "Damn kid... you are way more lethal than I expected. I thought I had already seen all your tricks and come up with good counters for them".

"You did. I knew my normal way of fighting wouldn't work on you. So I had to improvise, and switch up my tactics the second you adapted to them. I hate to admit it, but had the fight gone on for much longer, I would've lost" Cassandra admitted.

"You really are a talented kid. But I know you were holding back. You had plenty of chances to go for kill shots, but you didn't" Taskmaster said.

"Because I don't want to kill anyone. It's true, every time I fight someone, I can see death. But I chose life. I refuse to go back to being a killer. I have moved on, and I am stronger thanks to it" Cassandra said.

Taskmaster let out a small laugh "How bloody noble of you. You really are a hero. But rejecting your killer instinct has also given you a deadly weakness. Still, I am not the only one who has seen your potential. My client might not look at the Spider to much after this".

"Who are they? Who hired you?" Cassandra demanded.

"Sorry kid, I do not give up the names of my clients. It would hurt my reputation. And a mercenary's reputation is everything. But I will confess this: You beat me fair and square, so I will leave you alone for now. But one day, we will meet again. And when that day comes, I will not lose" Taskmaster said before dropping a flash grenade.

Cassandra shielded her eyes and when she looked back, Taskmaster was gone. Now she knows how that feels. But the fight against Taskmaster had been rather tiering, so Cassandra decided to take some time to recover. Otto's lab should be a good spot, as long as he isn't still there. Taskmaster was easily one of the most dangerous enemies she has ever faced. The way he could adapt and copy nearly everything she could do made him really tricky to fight. She would've lost if her last remaining tricks had failed. She might need to train some more so she would be ready for him in case they ever do meet again.

Cassandra traveled for a while until she arrived at the lab. She went inside but heard someone was already there. She narrowed her eyes and slowly began sneaking over there. She then jumped out of hiding ready for anything... or so she thought. What she saw was something she was not expecting. She saw Peter... wearing nothing but his mask... and his underwear, which had Spider-Man on them.

Peter looked a deer caught in the headlights "Cassandra?".

"Spider-Man underwear? Really?" Cassandra said as she looked at Peter's underwear with a rather surprised and confused face "How did you even end up like this".

"Just trying to support my brand! And Scorpion poisoned me when I found him so I had to make an antidote, which somehow lead to me ending up like this. Now could you stop looking please!" Peter said in clear embarrassment.

"This makes us even for the time you walked in on me after I took a shower. Just get your suit on, you look ridiculous" Cassandra said as she walked out.

She deciding she this wasn't a good place to rest after all.

Taskmaster is finally defeated.
