Welcome back! Sorry for the extended delay but this chapter was quite hard to write! It was difficult to put into words what I had pictured in my head! Enjoy!
Stephen was sitting on his little chair looking out the window. He'd noticed a new car across the street. He'd overheard Daddy & Mr Jack talking about some bad men and he was grown up enough to know that strangers were bad. He was also grown up enough to know that the men in the blue car were strangers.
Stephen had been really sad when he saw Daddy in the hospital, even though Grandpa Burt said he was going to be "just fine kiddo", Stephen knew that everyone was just trying to be brave. He knew that Mr Jack got shot and he knew that that was a bad thing. He knew Daddy's hand had been hurt by the bad men and that they hurt Mr Jack too. He also knew that Mr Jack had a different name but Stephen wasn't meant to know about.
Stephen was grown up enough to know that the men in the blue car might be the ones who wanted to hurt his daddy & Mr Jack. He could watch the bad men and make sure they didn't come near their home. They were safe in here. Stephen was grown up enough to help protect his daddy and Mr Jack.

Kurt couldn't focus on anything at work that day. His hand was healing well but still caused him some discomfort. As he slowly clenched and released his fist, Kurt tried to breathe deeply and ignore the little shoots of pain. His staff had been great during his absence and had managed to keep on top of everything so there wasn't much for him to do for now. He had a meeting later that afternoon which he couldn't get out of but Kurt took comfort in knowing that Stephen & Blaine would be fine. Between the two of them Kurt sometimes felt like he had two children but Stephen adored Blaine's playful nature and it definitely made it easier for Kurt to leave him in Blaine's care.
It had only been a few months since Blaine had entered their lives and less time since they'd all been together under one roof but Kurt couldn't imagine being without him. At first he'd worried that being around each other so much would threaten their burgeoning relationship but against all odds they seemed to be making it through.
"Hey Kurt, everything okay?" Belinda's head appeared in the doorway as Kurt looked up and smiled softly.
"Yeah, just getting used to being back I guess."
"Why don't you take off, I can handle today's meeting for you. Go home and spend some time with those handsome boys of yours."
Kurt raised his eyebrows but knew better than to question his former boss. He nodded his thanks and within twenty minutes was in his car and looking forward to seeing Blaine and Stephen. Checking his watch he realised that he had might just be able to beat his boys home and surprise them with dinner.

Blaine was pulling out of the parking lot listening to Stephen telling him the different between a sock puppet and a non-sock puppet when he saw 2 fire trucks whizz past with their lights flashing and sirens screaming. Blaine turned to follow them silently praying they weren't going the same way he was.
When the red vehicles turned left up ahead, Blaine felt the pit drop out of his stomach. Pulling his phone from the dashboard, he dialled Kurt's number holding the phone to his ear and trying to keep the shaking to a minimum.
"Hi, you've reached Kurt Hummel's voicemail. Please leave a message and I'll call you back."
"Kurt, baby, please call me back. Please tell me you're not at home right now. Please, please, please." The phone slipped from his fingers as he pulled up across the road from Kurt's apartment block.
"Mr Jack, why is our house on fire?"
