Ch 18 Day Two: Detention
"Daddy!" Ritsuka looks over to his son's playpen in the corner of the office. His office is walls were white, he had a bookshelf behind him filled with books with the lore of his Servants. He stopped typing on his laptop, heading to his son's playpen.
"What is it, buddy?" Ritsuka asked his son, watching him toddle over to his toys. He picked up a replica Orion and showed his father with pleading eyes.
"Pway?" Romani tilts his head, wanting to play with his father.
Ritsuka chuckles, letting into his demands. He opens the gate to his pen, sitting right in front of the violet haired boy. "Alright, what do you want to play Romani?" He asked his son,
Romani picked up a toy version of Arturia showing it to him. "Servanth!" he smiles proudly.
Ritsuka observes the toy in Romani's hands then Orion on the side. "Ah, I see. You want me to play with the toys like Servants." He said receiving a nod from his son.
"Alright then!" Ritsuka took the Arturia doll from his son's hand, Romani giggles picking up the Orion doll.
They played together for a while, bond as father and son. "Here comes Romani, Excalibur!" Ritsuka smiles, pretending the doll is unleashing a Noble Phantasm.
Romani giggles, tackling his father causing both to fall on the matted floor. "HAHAHA!" they laugh from the fun they just had.
Danzo and Mashu appeared behind the two, watching them interacting with one another. "Ritsuka, sorry to get between you and our son's playtime." Mashu apologizes to her husband.
"Fou!" Fou sat on Mashu's shoulders, observing the two bond.
Romani looks up at his mother, smiling at her. "Mommy!" he toddles over to the gate, his little hands gripping on the rims. He was jumping on the rim, wanting his mother to carry him.
"My baby," Mashu went over, lifting her son from the pen.
Ritsuka crosses his legs, looking at the two women before him. "What's happening you two?" He asked them both.
"My lord, someone wants to speak with you." The Android informs her master. "The person who wants to speak with you is your other self's mother."
"I see," Ritsuka got up, heading to the door. He looks at his wife smiling at him.
"Don't worry, we'll be in our room Ritsuka." Mashu hoisted their son on her waist. They went upstairs where the bedroom was, leaving Romani's toys scattered in the playpen.
Ritsuka opens the door, seeing his 'mother' on the other side. She looked surprised to see him answering the door before knocking. "Lily, is there something I can help you with?"
Lily saw Danzo standing behind him like a bodyguard. "Uh, Ritsuka I wanted to check on both you and Hinako." She explains to her 'son'. "I know what dealing with these students are like and wanted to see how you two are faring."
Ritsuka nodded, "Thank you, Lily, for checking up with us." He thanked his 'mother'. He sees her trying to be supported by them. "Is that all you wanted tonight?" he asked.
"Yes, that's it." Lily smiles. "I wish you luck further in your teaching." She turns around about to walk away when Ritsuka stops her.
"Wait, Lily do you want to have some midnight tea with me?" Ritsuka asked her. Lily looks at him shaking her head.
"Maybe next time, I still have Abigail to tend to." Lily apologize to her 'son'. In truth, she wanted to have some with her other son, but parenthood comes first. "I hope you understand,"
Ritsuka nodded, sharing the same feelings as hers. "Oh I understand, anyways have a nice night." He watches Lily smile, walking to the exit of his classroom.
"My lord, shall I see her off?" Danzo asked her master if he wants to watch over her.
Ritsuka shook his head. "No, everyone is out and about in the halls." He said to the Assassin. "I'm sure she'll be fine tonight." He closes the door, joining his family in their room.
The next day Jane, Hermione, and Ron were at Defense Against the Dark Arts awaiting for their Professor to arrive. Parvati cast the levitation spell on an origami sparrow, making the bird fly around the room.
Padma sighs, right next to her twin. "I can't wait until Lore, seeing Harry in that get-up turns me on." She giggles with joy, thinking of him already.
"Same here, I wish he'll be more of the ladies man like he was before." Parvati sighs, wishing with all her might that it'll come true as she watches her creation fly around.
Ron and Jane look over to Hermione seeing her reading The Chaldean History book, flipping through the pages. "Hermione, are you seriously reading ahead of the text?" Jane asked her friend.
Hermione looks at Jane, excitement and wonder-filled her eyes. "I can't help it, there's a bunch of lore behind these people. Like did you know that Emperor Nero Claudius didn't cause the fire in Rome, instead he and his administrators quell the fire with fewer casualties?"
"Emperor who?" Ron asked, not getting who Hermione was talking about.
"Emperor Nero Claudius? The Fifth Emperor of the Roman Empire, the one who built the Domus Aurea?" Hermione spat out information to the Weasley son, only for him to draw a blank with a confused look on his face. "Seriously? You never heard of him?" Hermione gave a deadpanned look.
Draco scoffs at the useless information he heard her speak. "Who cares about a Muggle ruler anyways?" He gave a smug look. "If anything, it sounds like this Nero person is an incompetent muggle who thinks he can rule a city let alone a country." He insulted the Red Saber,
"Draco, you don't know what Muggles are capable of!" Hermione scolded him. "Muggles can do amazing feat if you give them a chance!" she glares at the spoiled brat of the Malfoys.
"Don't you speak to me like that Mudblood!" Draco hissed, drawing his wand.
Ron and Jane got up, drawing their wands too as the origami flew past them. The paper bird soon busts into flames, spooking everyone in the room. Then they all heard the same giggle of a Toad, everyone turned around seeing her standing at the entrance door.
"Good morning children." Umbridge has a fake smile, plastered on her face. "Now if everyone could take their seats." She watches her students sit back down in their original seats.
Umbridge used her wand to levitate a piece of chalk. "Ordinary. Wizarding. Level. Examinations." As she says those words, the chalk wrote it down. "O. W. Ls, more commonly known as owls." She smiles at each student.
"Study hard and you'll be rewarded; fail to do so the consequences may be," Umbridge shrugs her shoulders, still smiling. "Severe." She flicks her wand, not looking away as the books behind her float over to their desks.
The books are separated into single books for each student. One pushed the Lore textbook to the side from Hermione's desk. "Your previous instructions of this subject have been disturbingly…uneven, but you'll be please to know from now on you will be following a carefully structured Ministry-approved course of defense magic." She explains to them.
Umbridge then noticed the bushy-haired girl raising her hand. "Yes?" she called on her.
Hermione scan through the book, "There's nothing here about using defensive spells?" she asked.
"Using spells?" Umbridge fake her gasps, "Hmm-hmm, I can't even imagine why you need to use spells in my classroom." She walks over to the brunette.
Ron closed his book, looking at Umbridge confused by what she said. "We're not going to use magic?"
"You'll be learning defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way," Umbridge explains to the students like they're three-year-olds.
"What use of that if we're going to attack it won't risk f-"
Umbridge turns around, ignoring Jane's statement. "Students will raise their hands when they wish to speak in my class." She walks over to her desk in a pompous way. Once she reaches her desk, she smiles at them once more.
"It is the view of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge would be sufficient to get through your examinations, which after all what school is all about," Umbridge explains once again as if they were three-year-olds.
"And how theories would prepare us what is out there!" Jane stood up from her seat.
"Students must stay seated until they're dismissed." Umbridge points at the red-haired girl. "To answer you're other questions, Ms. Potter, there is nothing out there. Who would imagine would attack children like yourself?" She hums, clearly avoiding the subject.
Jane scoffs, crossing her arms. "Oh, I don't know maybe Lord Voldemort." She announced hearing whispers around her, some disapproving of her claim.
Umbridge's smile twitches, walking slowly forward. "N-Now let me make this quite plain, you've been told a certain dark wizard is at large once again." She walks down the row, looking at her students. "This. Is. A. lie." She smiles.
"IT'S NOT A LIE! I KNOW FOR A FACT TH-!" Jane exclaims, making a scene in the room.
"Detention, Ms. Potter." Umbridge huffed back to her desk ignoring her claims.
"So according to you that my brother dropped dead on his accord and Cedric Diggory just dis-"
Umbridge swiftly turns to Jane with a bit of frustration on her expression. "Cedric Diggory is hiding away and your brother is alive and well-"
"HE WAS MURDERED! THAT MAN EVERYONE IS FOND OF ISN'T, MY BROTHER!" Jane exclaims, standing her ground against this Toad. "VOLDEMORT KILLED MY BROTHER AND TAKEN CED-"
"ENOUGH!" Umbridge stomps her foot on the ground. Her body trembles from the frustration of this certain girl. She took a deep breath before putting on a calm face. "Enough, see me later Ms. Potter, my office. Hmm-hmm."
Later in the day, after lunch, the trio heads over to the Lore class. "Jane, what were you thinking? Now you have detention with the Professor!" Hermione scolded the red-haired girl.
"It doesn't matter, I said what I wanted to say." Jane huffed, entering the room.
"Still Jane, you have to break the habit of interrupting-" Ron was about to add more when a burst of obnoxious laughter echoes through the room.
"FUFUHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Everyone stares at the golden man standing beside Hinako and Ritsuka holding a book in his arm, smiling.
"Who is that man?"
"Why is he standing with Harry Potter?"
Neville nudges Hermione, leaning over to her. "Hey Hermione, do you know that man with the Professors?" He asked, curious about who this man is.
Hermione shook her head. "Not a clue, I have never seen him before with Ritsuka." She answered before freezing at the crimson eyes of the man, staring down at the Magus. "My guess is he's another Servant." She concluded.
'Geez, just how many does he got!?' Ron questions, seeing how…shiny this man is.
"(A-A Vampire! How is it Harry has three vampires serving under him!?)" Draco hissed, seething that the Half-blood has loyal servants serving every word.
Gilgamesh continues to laugh out loud, not really caring that students are watching him with his master. He calms down a bit, smiling at the joy he felt. "Oi, oi, Mongrel be sure to make your lesson enjoyable for me." The Golden Archer smirks. "I will be watching in your tiny office with Lancer, judging how adequate your lecture is." He gave his master a high and mighty stare.
The Fan Club froze at the insult that man used on their prince. 'HOW DARE HE!' those thoughts were pretty much in everyone's mind, sneering at the Archer.
"Don't worry Archer, I wouldn't dream of ruining your reputation." Ritsuka chuckles at Gilgamesh's comment. The way Ritsuka spoke to the man surprised that he took that insult like it was nothing.
"Well see, Mongrel." Everyone gasps seeing Gilgamesh dematerializing to the porch of Ritsuka's office.
"Is it Apparition?" A Gryffindor asked, shocked to see him disappear
"No it couldn't be, you need a wand to do that!" A Ravenclaw informs him.
"Could it be wandless magic?" Neville concluded, thinking that's the answer.
Daphne scoffs, "Of course not, no Mudblood could use an advance form of magic." She held her head up high before a knife flew past her. Her eyes widen along with everyone else, slowly turning around to the golden weapon in a small crater.
They looked at the golden man crossing his arms with a golden portal next to him. "You dare insult a king, Mongrel!?" Gilgamesh gave the students a death stare, watching them cower in fear.
"Archer, relax." Enkidu taps his shoulders. "They're just incompetent children with no common sense at all in their thick skull of theirs." The weapon smiles at his friend, ignoring the howlers of the upper crust students.
"WHAT! HOW DARE YOU-" Ginny froze seeing the death glare staring right into her soul by the weapon of the Gods.
Hinako cleared her throat, drawing the attention right at her. "Alright, alright, everyone calms down. We don't want a crime scene here, right you two?" The Dead Apostle looks over to the ancient heroes.
"Of course not, Ms. Hinako." Enkidu smiles, nudging Gil to answer.
"Tch, fine I'll play this game." Gilgamesh scoffs, seeing his master looking right at them. he eyed his master's students, clicking his tongue. "Tch, what? Go to your seats Mongrels!" His voice frightens the children, he watches them going into their seats taking their textbooks out.
Ritsuka smiles at his students after the whole situation. "Apologies on my Servants behalf, these two insisted on being here." He explains their reasons.
"Why would you let your servants free reign? Aren't they like your slaves?" Lavender asked, thinking if it's true then they'll serve her if she gets with Harry. The thought was pretty much in everyone's within the Fan Club's minds, wanting people serving their every need.
"No, they're not my slaves. More like my followers." Ritsuka informs his students. "I don't control their actions, however when I need them, they tend to follow my command." He saw the glee written on those who want to take advantage of them.
"However, they only obey me and those I give command to." The expressions on their faces deflate, after being informed that only he can command them.
Ritsuka turns to the globe, typing the coordinates of his lesson. "Now let's talk about lore," he pressed the enter key as the globe spun fast; stopping at Mesopotamia. "Did any of you read the first chapter of the text?"
A few hands rosed up, but only those who are interested. "I see, need to remind you that this course will help your transcript, if you fail this course then you'll be held back," he warns his students. Many looked away, a few felt shame for themselves however only a majority of the class.
Ritsuka sighs, "Alright, onto the lesson." He claps his hands together. "Now who here had read the chapter can tell me the three elements of the Age of Gods?" he asked, seeing that Hermione was the only one who has the courage to answer stood up.
"Professor, the three elements of the Age of Gods are Deterioration, Separation, and Trigger," Hermione answered from the text she read.
"Can anyone explain what those elements are?" Hinako steps into the lecture. She looked at everyone before seeing Neville raise his hands. "Neville Longbottom." She calls him out.
Neville stood up, his book in his hands. "Deterioration is when the Gods used to have physical forms as the manifestation of nature itself." He informs the Professors. "That is until an event causes them to lose their physical forms and possessed compatible humans in order to walk the Earth." He finished his definition.
"Wait, so Gods can possess a human vessel!?" Parvati raised her hand, shocked to hear about this. The student whispers among themselves, Gods walking among humans? That's interesting and yet frightening at the same time.
"Yes, they can however this process has weakened the Gods divinity and authority over their domain," Ritsuka explains seeing more faces intrigued by this. "Does anyone know the definition of the next element?"
Jane stood up next, already invested in this class from the get-go. "Separation, the time that Mesopotamian Gods realize their power is weakening over the world, so they made a Demi-God as a keystone to connect Gods with human society." She answered her 'brother'.
Gilgamesh smiles, seeing that Jane is indeed his master's other sister.
"That's correct, now the next element is going to be near the end of this subject when we go over Mesoamerica's Age of Gods," Ritsuka informs his class. "That's where the last element is, Trigger. Could anyone explain what Trigger is?" he asked.
"Trigger is around seven hundred BC, where the Age of the Gods ended." Hermione jumps in with excitement. "It's also the starting point for the Age of Fairies." She informs the class.
Ritsuka smiles, proud that some of his students take initiative. "I'm glad to those who did their reading last night, for those who didn't will have another chance to gain a homework grade tonight." He noticed the displeased look on some of their faces.
"Now onto the lesson." Ritsuka walks over to the board. "The Age of Gods, the where the Gods and Phantasmal beings walk the earth among humans." He presses a button on the board. Slides of many sculptures, tablets, pottery, and written appeared on the board with pictures of the deities from each culture of the world.
"The Gods were born from human worship, building temples and alters in honor for their protection," Ritsuka explains the class, seeing some write down notes. "By the year twenty-six BC, the Gods of Mesopotamia realize their existence is fading, their power dwindles, their influence disappearing, if this keeps up then the Age of Gods in Mesopotamia will end."
Hermione raised her hand, having a question in her mind, "Yes Hermione?" Hinako called her.
"Are you saying Gods were real one point?" Hermione asked, finally realizing what he meant by the Age of Gods.
"Yes, however, there isn't any more roaming the world today's age." Ritsuka looks at the class, he saw the students observing him, listening to the information he says.
"I thought the Age of Gods was just religion stuff," Hermione replied,
Ritsuka shook his head. "No, they were real. Records of their existence could be found all over the world." He explains.
"So, where are they?" Padma asked, wanting to know what happened to them.
"That's a topic for another time, Padma," Hinako informs her, seeing the Reverse side would be complicated.
Ritsuka turns back around, continuing his lecture. "Speaking of the topic, during this time the Sumerian king of Uruk, Lugalbanda, and his wife the Goddess Rimat-Ninsun had a child."
"So a Half-breed?" Draco gave a disgusted looked before feeling a death glare pining at him. he looks to see the golden man, staring directly at him,
"Draco, one more out of you and you'll be facing detention," Ritsuka warns his less impressive student. He could tell by the snickers that he was embarrassed that he'd shut up.
Gilgamesh scoff at the shameful version of Draco Malfoy Animusphere. 'Mongrel shouldn't even have that name,' he crossed his arms.
"As I was saying." Ritsuka turns around, pulling images of Uruk's ruins. "This child of the king is two-thirds divine and one-third mortal. A boy created by the Gods to be a keystone, a mediator between humans and the divine. This boy is name-"
"Gilgamesh," Ritsuka, Hinako, Enkidu, and Gilgamesh looks at Hermione opening her book.
Ritsuka smiles, seeing his textbook as a reference. "Very good, Hermione." He compliments her answer. "I see you heard that name before." He eyed Gil standing proud for her.
"Y-Yes, I read ahead coming across the name in the Epic of Gilgamesh." Hermione admitting her actions. Everyone except her friends glares at her for being smart, some snickering at her nerdiness.
Hinako heard the snickers, deciding to do something. "Hey now, that's nothing to make fun of." The Assassin defends her student, which to many their surprises. Hermione blinks, never being defended by anyone except for her friends. "If she wants to read ahead, she can. That's nothing to be ashamed of, it means she's willing to learn and advance her education."
"Precisely, anyone is welcome to read ahead," Ritsuka added in. "I encourage you all to follow Hermione's example," he said seeing some taking into the heart. He returns to the board continuing his lecture.
"Now the King of the Mesopotamian Gods Anu and the Goddess of Creation Aruru constructed a being out of clay." An image of a statue with a beard made of stone appears on the screen.
"Who is that?" Ron asked seeing the image.
Ritsuka looks at Ron, interested in the image. "This here, Ronald is Enkidu; known as the Chains of Heaven." He heard Enkidu on the side nudging Gilgamesh's golden armor for his master to mention him.
"(Hey Gil,) The Golden King simply smirks, nudging him back.
Crabbe raises his hand, can't help but be curious. "Why is he called the Chains of the Heaven?" he asked
"The reason why he was given the title was that Enkidu has the ability to restraint any Gods or Goddess," Ritsuka informs his students, they all have shocked faces. No one can restraint a powerful being, that would be impossible.
Ritsuka smirk along with the two friends. "I can see you are in shocked, allow me to explain." He said still smirking. "Enkidu was tasked by Anu to face Gilgamesh, restraining him to follow the Gods will."
"So he's basically a puppet?" Lavender piqued out.
"Yes, in that terms." Ritsuka looks at Gilgamesh ready to attack her. Enkidu did his best to restrain him, he knows what their story is. "In any case, Enkidu after learning human compression travels to Uruk to face Gilgamesh. At this time Gilgamesh was still a child who has a strong resolve for the Gods, seeing that the being decided to wait and see what will become of him.
"Upon reaching adulthood, Gilgamesh became a tyrant. A loathsome leader who oppressed his people and takes please what the world has to offer." Ritsuka explains. "he gathers masses of treasures in a vault, weapons said to be prototypes of every weapon in history. This is where Enkidu steps in, challenging the King for his arrogant ways."
"(Sounds like a certain house.)" Ron nudges Jane making a joke about the Slytherin house. Jane waved him off.
"(Not now Ron, can't you see I'm listening.)" Jane watches the board, showing ancient pictures of two bearded men fighting. Ron looks at the board, admitting this was actually interesting, so he shuts up and listens.
Ritsuka walks over to the left, pointing to each picture. "These pictures are pictures found in an ancient temple indicating the battle between Gilgamesh and Enkidu." He explains to the class. "This battle lasted for days, neither side was wavering, their powers are a match."
"When both sides are exhausted, they laugh forging a friendship that no one could break." Ritsuka continues. "They had many exploits, adventures beyond the Kingdom one said adventure is when they face the monster of the Cedar Forest, Humbaba, and defeated him."
"Enkidu went along after seeing the King's condition for his people despite the beast being friends," Ritsuka explains seeing a hand raised.
"Wait, so that means Enkidu killed his friend?" Hermione questions seeing how evil that is.
Ritsuka shook his head. "It's not a kill for evil, but an act of mercy." He explains seeing some sadness in their eyes. "After Humbaba was killed, Enkidu left a circlet of flowers in respect of the friendship they once had."
"From that moment, Enkidu question Gilgamesh on why he'd protect humans if he rules over them tyrannically." Ritsuka lectured. "In response, Gilgamesh wanted humans to stray away from Gods. He sees them as the earth's new habitats, he both loves and hates humans for that Enkidu understands why becoming astray from the Gods for the sake of humans."
Gilgamesh looked proud of what he accomplished. Enkidu chuckles, leaning on the railings observing the children below.
"So he joins humanity side?" Parvati asked what she got from the lesson.
"Yes, their exploits gain the attention of a certain Goddess," Ritsuka heard a small chuckle of the same Goddess off in a distance.
"Who's the Goddess?" Ron asked, wanting to learn more.
Ritsuka nodded seeing the eagerness of his students, especially the Slytherins who didn't bat an insult (Well not yet). "Alright, from their exploits the Goddess Ishtar is the Goddess of Venus and known for using the Boat of Heaven, and the twin sister of the Goddess Ereshkigal; the Goddess of Kur has fallen for Gilgamesh."
An image of a woman with chicken feet appeared on the screen. "Is that what a Goddess looked like?" Daphne scoffs, seeing how ridiculous she looks.
"Are you sure that's a Goddess, Professor?" Ginny asked, seeing the statue. Ishtar was being restraint by his sister ready to kill those brats.
"That's how Sumerians saw Ishtar," Hinako explains before looking at her master.
"Yes, Ishtar is known for her temperament issue in myth. This temperament was activated by Gilgamesh's rejection of her proposal of marriage." Ritsuka eyed the Golden King, shrugging his shoulder.
"In retaliation, Ishtar begs her father Anu, to use the Bull of Heaven Gugalanna on the earth destroying crops." Ritsuka continues. "Both Enkidu and Gilgamesh manage to destroy the bull, but without repercussions."
Hermione raised her hand. "I know! Can I say it, Professor!" She begs him.
Ritsuka chuckles giving the floor to her. "Go for it." he smiles.
Hermione cleared her throat and begin. "After Gugalanna's destruction, Ishtar order her father to destroy Enkidu."
"WHAT!?" Most of the students' gasps, can't believe that she would do that.
"It's true after Enkidu's demise Gilgamesh questions his mortality and went on a quest." Hermione went on. "He went to the underworld Kur to find the herb of immortality, after the journey, he rested near a body of water bathing in the lake."
"He left the herb on the shore before a snake ate the herb."
"That's stupid, he must've known that anything could happen if he leaves something important in the open like that," Jane commented, seeing the problem way ahead.
Enkidu smirks at Gilgamesh, looking
"I know, after that Gilgamesh laughs it off and becomes a ruler that his people need." Hermione finishes.
'Just wait until the Incineration of Humanity and the Three Goddess Alliance come to play.' Ritsuka thought, thankful the Authors didn't include the Grand Order. "That wraps up our lesson for today." Many groans seeing they were disappointed that class is ending soon.
"Yes, yes, I know you all like my class, but you all have others." Ritsuka watches them getting their stuff, about to head out.
"Almost forgot, for your Homework research a Titan writing paper by next class," Ritsuka told their assignment. "Next class we're going over the Deterioration and the Olympians true forms." He explains.
"True forms? What is he talking about?" Hermione ponders what he just said.
Ritsuka walks over to Gilgamesh and Enkidu, smiling at them. "So how did I do depicting your legends?"
Gilgamesh laughs, "Kukuhahahahaha! Mongrel you did excellent, worthy tale for my ears!" he patted his master's shoulder, proud that he was able to display his valiant tale. "You have proven yourself to be an excellent instructor!"
"You're just happy that master was talking about you, Gil." Enkidu hops down the stairs. "You did well master, good job."
Ishtar and Ereshkigal materialized next to him, their faces spread with disappointment, "Fujimaru, can you at least give us a bit more credit." Ishtar sighs, floating next to him. "Without us, Goldy here won't be able to be a Servant."
"Well, at least you added us," Ereshkigal just went with it, not really caring about it.
Aphrodite materialized too, having a proud expression. "Human, you better do well with your depiction of me and the rest of the Olympians." She smokes a cigarette,
"Don't worry, I will." Ritsuka chuckles at the Greek Goddess.
"This will get more complicated." Hinako sighs.
Later that night, Jane enters a pink filled room with cat plating decorates the walls. "Good evening Ms. Potter." She motions her head to the chair before her. "Sit,"
"Ms. Potter, you'll be doing lines for me today." The toad handed her a quill.
