The Night Before the Day of Black Sun
Zuko and Ty Lee had begun talking within Zuko's chambers, his bedroom. He thought it was really important to tell his girlfriend, Ty Lee who sat on his bed. She lied on her knees and stared at Zuko, whom had just removed his royal prince robes and crown. He was now shirtless and had worn his red pajama pants, while Ty Lee had still worn her pink attire.
"I need to tell you something. But, I need your word that you won't tell anyone, not even Azula of what I'm about to tell you." Zuko asked as he walked clos toi his bed, where Ty Lee was sitting.
"I promise." Ty Lee paused for two seconds before giving him the answer he wanted to hear.
"Good. There's something I want to tell you." Zuko took a deep breath then sat down in front of Ty Lee on his bed. "Tomorrow... I'm leaving the Fire Nation. And I'm going to help the Avatar defeat my father." Zuko said in a low voice, where no one else can hear.
Ty Lee gasped. "You're going to hel-?" Zuko quickly placed his right index finger over her lips, shushing her. It took her nine seconds for Ty Lee to finally calm down. As soon as she did, Zuko slowly removed his index finger from her lips. "Why?" she asked in a soothing voice.
"Before I can answer that, I need to ask you something else. Do you believe in destiny?"
"Hm?" Ty Lee did not answer that question.
"I know that you believe in auras... I just wanted to know if you did believe in destiny. That's all."
"I do." Ty Lee nodded. "But, why are you leaving?"
"Because, I just now realized that wasn't what I wanted..."
"What do you mean?"
"Returning home as a war hero... father's love... the praise for killing the Avatar... it's all just a lie."
"Am I a lie, too?" Ty Lee asked.
"N-no, you're not! You're important to me." Zuko assured as he turned his head to her.
"Then, what are you saying?" Ty Lee asked, feeling a bit confused.
"What I'm saying is... I've realized something was wrong." Zuko turned from Ty Lee, only to show his back to her. "During my travels in the Earth Kingdom..." Zuko begun reminiscing things back when he traveled in the Earth Kingdom. "When me and my uncle were on the run from Azula, I've started noticing things outside the Fire Nation. I met people who's lives were ruined and scared by the Fire Nation."
'It's okay. I have one, too.' Zuko remembered meeting Song, who showed him the scar on her leg.
'I once traveled in a town, where I met a kid who grew to like me. His name was Lee. He wanted to be just like me. But when I saved him and revealed myself to be apart of the Fire Nation, he was angry and said that he hated me.
'No! I hate you!' Zuko remembered the time he saved Lee from Earth Kingdom soldiers, only to be shunned by the village.
"At that moment, that's when I realized things weren't always black and white. In their eyes, they saw us, the Fire Nation were the bad guys. Ever since I was a kid, I was forced to believe that the Fire Nation was greatly respected by other nations for our military experience and battle prowess. But, in reality, they hate us."
Ty Lee lowered her head and lied a hand on her chest.
"For the past hundred years, we, the Fire Nation had created an era of fear in the world. And if we don't want the world to destroy itself, we need to replace it with an era of peace kindness. So that's why I'm going to help the Avatar overthrow my father. I'll be honest with you. I want you to come with me, but... this is something I have to do, alone." Zuko turned his body sideways, only to see Ty Lee crying. He gasped, as he saw tears streaming down her face and landed within the sheets. "I'm sorry, Ty Lee. I-"
"Zuko... this is one of the nicest things you're ever going to do. Not just for me... but for the entire country." Ty Lee said with tears of joy streaming down her face.
Zuko couldn't think about making Ty Lee cry like that, so he grabbed Ty Lee and pulled her in for a hug. "I promise that I'll come find you, once this is all over.
"We're probably going to see each other, sooner. Because Azula would probably have me and Mai chase after you, again." Ty Lee said, as she hugged him back. After hugging for ten seconds, they stopped. "Are we still together?"
"Does this answer your question?" Zuko gently stroked her right cheek and kissed her lips.
Ty Lee responded by kissing his lips back, passionately and wrapping her arms around his neck. She soon found herself lying on her back while Zuko was still kissing her, passionately.
After kissing for twenty seconds, Zuko bend over her body, staring at her face. "You can sleep in my bed, tonight."
Ty Lee stared into Zuko's eyes. "Thank you."
"I'm also going to leave a letter on your bed, making everyone believe we'd broke up." Zuko whispered to her ear.
"Okay." Ty Lee nodded. "I love you, Zuko."
"I love you, too, Ty Lee." Zuko replied, before leaning downwards to kiss her lips.
To The Present Day
Everyone within the Western Air Temple were a sound asleep. Ty Lee had slept right close to Zuko in their sheets and held hands. As they slept, Ty Lee had a smile on her face, as she dreamt about the night before the Day of the Black Sun.
Meanwhile, Aang slept next to his bison, Appa. He suddenly yawned and awakened from his slumber. He and Appa had saw that it was morning. The birds were chirping at the water fountain, until they suddenly flew away. He didn't know what it was, until he saw a bomb flying towards him. Aang quickly took his staff and Airbended, redirecting the bomb to the ceiling, far away from his friends.
Suddenly, everyone woke up from the sound of explosions. They didn't know what it was, until they saw bombs exploding on impact.
Aang used his Airbending to close the large metal doors, so that the bombs wouldn't hit them. Everyone was up on their feet and watched as the bombs exploded. What they didn't know was the ceiling was starting to slowly collapse from above.
Zuko gasped as he saw debris from the ceiling begun to fall down on top of Ty Lee. "Look out!" Zuko quickly grabbed Ty Lee and jumped out the way, saving them both. He soon helped Ty Lee get on their feet as he lifted her up by the hand. "Are you alright?"
"Mm-hmm." Ty Lee nodded. "Thank you."
Toph and Haru had created a large tunnel within the wall, making an escape route. Some of their friends ran into the tunnel, while Aang tried to pull Appa inside the dark tunnel.
"Come on! Everyone in here!" Toph yelled, creating a path.
"Go with the others." Zuko demanded as he looked at the tunnel.
"But, Zuko-"
Zuko placed his hands on her shoulders. "There's no time. Just go with the others. I'll hold them off!" He than ran off, leaving Ty Lee behind.
Ty Lee watched in fear, as she watched Zuko run towards the bombs. "Zuko!"
"Come on! We have to go!" Katara said as she grabbed Ty Lee's arm and pulled her towards the tunnel. Ty Lee gasped to see Katara of all people convince her to leave.
"Zuko, what are you doing?" Aang asked, while trying to pull Zuko in.
"I'm going to hold them off." Zuko said, before running pass the running doors.
"Zuko, no!" Aang yelled.
"Aang, we don't have time for this!" Sokka ran next to Aang and helped pull Appa in the dark tunnel. "We gotta go!"
Meanwhile, Zuko ran towards the edge of the Western Air Temple to see a few Fire Nation airships threatening to destroy the temple. He looked at the closest airship to see his sister, Azula staring down at him, like some kind of food chain.
"What are you doing here?" Zuko asked, loud enough for Azula to hear.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm about to celebrate becoming the only child!" Azula yelled, before launching blue flames at Zuko through her feet.
Zuko simply dodged by jumping backwards a few feet from her Firebending, then continued to dodge the bombs, until he saw a few pillars in front of him crumble before his eyes. He ran towards the long crumbling pillar, ran on top of it before it fell off into the abyss and made a long leap towards Azula. But, he only landed on the side of the ship, not reaching Azula and slipping off the side and fell into the abyss.
Meanwhile, Ty Lee gasped, as she had just felt a disturbance while going into the dark tunnel.
Aang tried his best to pull a resisting Appa into the dark tunnel, but couldn't. "I can't get him to go in there! Appa hates dark tunnels!" Aang remembered the time when he, Katara and Appa were stuck in a dark cave, once.
"It looks like we have to split up." Sokka insisted, then looked to his dad and allies. "Take the tunnel and get to the airship! It's the only way you can escape!"
"No! The Fire Nation can't separate our family, again!" Katara denied with the fact of splitting up.
"Don't worry, Katara. It's not forever." Hakoda told Katara.
Katara didn't say a word, but replied with a hug.
Sokka hugged Hokada as well. As soon as he saw Suki began to leave with the tunnel, he quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her with him.
Suki was confused on why Sokka was dragging her. "Sokka, what are you-"
"Don't worry. I'm going to need you later on." Sokka explained while running towards Appa.
As they were heading in the tunnel, Ty Lee had a gut feeling and stopped. The thought of Zuko had filled her mind and she couldn't think about being apart from him. She had second thoughts about following Hakoda to the airship. She gripped her fists, then turned around and ran towards Aang and the others at full speed.
Sokka and Katara helped Suki climb onto Appa's saddle.
Katara looked to see Ty Lee was running towards them and coming along, as well. "Ty Lee, what are you doing?" she asked as Ty Lee used her acrobatic skills to jump onto Appa's saddle.
"I can't stand the fact of leaving Zuko. I have to see him again." Ty Lee told Katara, boldly.
Toph placed her hand on the wall, clearing a path. "I can clear a path and we can fly out through there!" Toph yelled as she launched herself onto Appa's saddle with Earthbending.
"Good." Aang said as he climbed on Appa's head.
"Um, there's a lot of fire within that general direction." Suki pointed out as she stretched her finger.
"We'll get through." Aang said, grabbing the rope. "Appa, yip yip!"
Appa roared, then flew forward. He flew through a passage way, charging head first through a wall, creating a rocky helmet to resist Firebending. They flew out of the Western Air Temple, dodging the fire bombs and away from the airships.
Azula saw the Avatar and his friends escape on Appa, but easily recognized one person that she was far familiar with. She spotted Ty Lee, which made her blood boil to a minimum. Then suddenly, she turned around to see an airship rising from the foggy abyss. She looked to see Zuko standing on top of the rising airship, staring at her.
"Zuko..." Ty Lee was happy to see Zuko alive and well, while she and the others flew on Appa's back.
"Bring it..." Azula muttered as she watched Zuko leap towards her. The Fire Nation siblings battled in Firebending combat, while Aang and the others dodged Fire bombs from the airships.
"Everyone, hang on!" Aang yelled, as he pulled Appa upwards in the sky, dodging an airship. Everyone on Appa's back hung onto the saddle like their lives depended on it.
Meanwhile, Zuko and Azula clashed with a fist of fire, causing an explosion that pushed them back on both sides of the airship, causing them to fall off. They both were falling downwards, as Gravity did not part in their favor. Aang and the others manage to catch Zuko and pull him onto their saddle, leaving Azula to fall.
Ty Lee instantly hugged Zuko, as soon as he landed on Appa's saddle. They both then caught a glimpse of Azula falling downwards.
"She's not going to make it." Zuko muttered.
Ty Lee had a sad look on her face, thinking that Azula would fall to her doom. But to both of their surprise, Azula launhced blue flames from her feet and launched herself towards the side of the Western Air Temple. She used her crown as leverage and stabbed it within the mountain to stop herself from falling. Her hair was loosened, though.
"Of course she did." Zuko said.
Ty Lee frowned towards Azula, who hung on the side of the mountain. In return, Azula glared at the group, directly at Ty Lee for betraying her.
