Everyone was staring at George in shock. "Bloody hell..." Newt muttered, looking like he had seen a ghost. "You can't be here, you're dead, the Grievers-"

" Thought that they had bested me, but they didn't." George interrupted. "I've been living off the grid ever since that day, the Creators thought that I was dead as well, and I thought it best that it stayed that way, can't imagine that they would have been too happy if they had realized that their precious Grievers hadn't taken care of me like they had originally planned. Marie knew that I was alive, but before you all go up in arms against her, I asked her to not tell anyone, it was the way that it had to be." He turned to look at Gally. "You've become an even bigger asshole over time, and I used to think that could never be possible."

Gally stammered as he tried to come up with a response, but nothing seemed to be able to exit his mouth and George chuckled, smirking a bit before turning serious. "Down to business. As you all may or may not have gathered by now, the Creators are trying to force our hand here. When I was stung, I remembered everything, I know what it is that they're planning. The Maze doors aren't going to close. Each night the Grievers are going to come into the Glade and kill one person until we find our way out of the Maze. Luckily for all of you, I think that I know how to get us out of this place. It won't be easy though, we'll be facing a lot of Grievers along the way, some of us will most likely die. But if we stick together, if we work as a team, then our losses will be minimal."

"And why should we believe a word that's coming out of your mouth?" Gally demanded. "After all, you've been lying to everyone here."

"Trust me, I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't had any other choice. And by the way, I was watching when you were making out with Marie at the bonfire, so just be glad that I didn't make you mysteriously disappear for laying hands on my little sister."

"Little sister?" Newt asked with wide eyes. "You two are related?"

"We might as well be. Jansen never did like how close the two of us were, and when I was sent into the Maze, he had all memories of me erased from her mind."

"Who the hell's Jansen?"

"He's one of the people that works for WICKED. He's an evil man, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that WICKED's end game is fulfilled. But enough about that. We need to make sure that everyone is prepared, that everyone has a weapon to defend themselves with, or are paired with someone that can help to defend them, since I'm not sure that people like Chuck should be given machetes or spears."

Marie agreed with that last statement wholeheartedly. She wasn't exactly keen on the idea of a twelve-year-old being equipped with weapons. "Chuck can be paired up with me." She said. She saw Chuck as a little brother and she wanted to personally make sure that nothing happened to him.

"You're going to have to be paired with someone too." Minho pointed out. "With your leg the way that it is, there really isn't much that you'll be able to do."

He was right of course, although Marie didn't particularly want to admit it to anyone. Her leg was still healing and she still couldn't really walk without the help of crutches.

"They can both be with me." Newt spoke up, and George nodded his head. "Alright, here's what we're going to do everyone..."

As soon as the meeting was finished, everyone went off to get ready. The rest of the Gladers were informed on what was going to be happening, and like the others, they were shocked that George was actually alive.

"We're really going to be going out into the Maze?" Chuck asked worriedly, and Marie set a hand on his shoulder. "It'll be okay Chuck, Newt and I are going to be with you the entire time, okay?"

Chuck nodded, his face filled with uncertainty and worry, and Marie pulled him into a tight hug. "Don't worry." She said as she soothingly ran her hands through his curly hair. "I promise that I'm not going to let anything bad happen to you. You're like a little brother to me and I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure that you stay safe."

"Marie?"

"Yeah Chuckie?"

"If I have a mom out there, I want her to be exactly like you."

"Oh Chuck..." Marie's heart filled with warmth, and she thought that she might start crying at any given moment. She didn't know that she had meant so much to Chuck, that he had grown so attached to her over such a short period of time.

"You're one of the only people here that are nice to me, that's why I want my mom to be like you, to be as nice as you are."

"Come on, help me get ready, hm?"

Chuck nodded and he followed Marie to the room that she shared with Newt and they started to get some clothes together. Marie had an idea of what awaited them outside of the Maze and she wanted to make sure that they were ready for anything, which was why she had also told Frypan to make rations for everyone. Gally didn't exactly like the idea of her ordering other people around, but then Newt pointed out that she was really the only one that had any idea of the things that they would be facing if they were able to get out of the Maze, and that seemed to do a pretty efficient job of shutting Gally up. Marie knew that they weren't all going to be able to make it out of the Maze alive, it would take a miracle for that to happen, but she would be damned if she lost Chuck or Newt. While her leg may not have been working as well as she would like it to be, she was going to try her damndest to make sure that the people she loved stayed safe, or she would die trying. Marie could be quite a stubborn person, and lethal if you angered her enough. And if you tried to hurt someone that she loved, someone that she was close to...well...you had best hope that you had all of your affairs in order because if you did that, then it would be likely that you wouldn't live to see the next day.

Marie finished packing, and she zipped up her back. "Come on Chuckie." She told him. "I think that it's high time we get out of this shucking place."
