Chapter 22:

A/N: I'm back and here with a new chapter! Thank you to everyone who favorited, followed, and reviewed this story!

"So what you're saying is…that absolutely nothing has happened since you first went there?" Jiraiya asked, disbelief evident in his tone.

"Exactly. Honestly, their leader just reminds me of a three year old toddler but he seems to be the real deal because his second hand seemed to follow his orders no matter how much he seemed to disagree with it." Sasuke responded.

He, Jiraiya, Shikamaru, and Naruto all currently sat in the living room together. Jiraiya and Sasuke each in chairs while Naruto and Shikamaru sat together on the couch. Sasuke had just returned from being away for about two weeks after he informed everyone that he made contact with the League of Villains.

However, they had, thankfully, eaten dinner before discussing the mission, so Naruto was finally able to enjoy one meal in peace since he first arrived in Japan.

"In that case, the information we received from Haru before Naruto and I arrived would be true than."

"And what information is that? I wasn't told about the fine details pertaining to the League of Villains before coming here."

"Word on the street was that the leader of the League, Shigaraki, was the apprentice of All for One. So if he truly is like that, than it is likely that All for One formed the League for his protégé to lead."

"But why not lead it himself?" Naruto asked.

"Well, there could be many reasons for that. My best guess would be that he knows that his time is coming up, and so his protégé will need to start building his own connections and make a name for himself before he passes so he can see him defeat All Might or be able to die with faith that he will eventually beat All Might." Shikamaru answered.

"And if that is the case, than there is no doubt in my mind that Sasuke will be hearing from the League any day now. Just make sure to keep your head low and not draw too much attention to yourself until that does happen. And try not to accept any jobs that will take longer than a day or two. Infiltrating the League is your top priority and I don't want someone out for your blood because you dropped their job to join the League." Jiraiya said.

"Understood." Sasuke said, nodding, before bidding everyone goodbye and leaving the apartment, Jiraiya following not long after.

"Everyone…I'm looking forward to hearing your stories…about the training camp…"Ashido forced out through her tears. Naruto could hear her, along with various other classmates, wallow in self-pity and complain to poor Izuku about how they weren't going to the training camp because of their failed practical exams.

Considering that Aizawa and his former sensei, Kakashi, had much in common there was no doubt in Naruto's mind that everyone would be going to the training camp regardless of their test scores.

After all, what was the point in having a training camp if everyone in the hero course, who the training camp was designed for, couldn't participate?

But rather than get everyone's hopes up, Naruto sat at his desk and engaged in a tiny squabble between him and Sero about which flavor of ramen was the best.

"Ramen is the food of the gods, so all flavors taste amazing, but the best is miso hands down." Naruto told Sero for what was probably the tenth time that morning.

"I know dude, I know, but hear me out on this, pork ramen." Sero rebutted.

Oddly enough, once their exam was over, Naruto and Sero realized that they had a lot in common. Not saying that they didn't hang out before, considering they were both members of the Bakusquad, but now they could hang out one on one and have no tension. This was great for Naruto, because it meant that he could argue about the little things with Sero and avoid the problem that was across the room.

Tokoyami.

Naruto had not spoken to his fellow classmate since he revealed his knowledge about Kurama, or at the very least, the knowledge that Naruto had a demon inside of him. And while everyone agreed that the situation wasn't the biggest deal when remembering that Tokoyami had his own demon that could most likely sense the fox in Naruto's gut, because demons are weird like that, he really didn't feel like explaining his entire past to a classmate that he had only recently grown close with.

Not that he wanted to spill his past to any of his classmates, this was an undercover mission after all.

"Personally, I vote that you talk to him and convince him to let Dark Shadow out. Then, I temporarily take over your body and Dark Shadow and I can really get to know each other." A gruff voice spoke inside Naruto's head.

"Kurama! No! Why would you think that is a good idea?" Naruto asked his inmate, appalled at the fact that he would suggest something like this once he realized that the demon was being completely serious.

"Oh come on! Pretty please? I don't think I've ever met a demon that isn't a sibling of mine. Do you know how exciting this is for me? I just want some company!" He begged, which was extremely abnormal considering the amount of pride that thing had. And the fact that they were on an S-ranked mission and Kurama took missions more seriously than Naruto in ANBU mode. But, unfortunately, Naruto could not grant Kurama's wish

"Well, unfortunately, you cannot get any company without me completely blowing my own cover, as well as everyone's cover around me! Besides, you have me and Shikamaru for company."

"Screw your mission. And you and your boyfriend aren't exactly the company I'm looking for. I'm also around the both of you 24/7 so a fresh face wouldn't be so bad." He said while pouting.

"I said no."

"And I said yes."

"Do you want me to make your cage smaller than it already is?" Naruto asked, beginning to grow annoyed with the situation.

"This fucking argument isn't over gaki." He said, before moving to the back corner of his cage and muttering to himself.

Shaking his head to return to clear his head and focus on the problem he was avoiding, Naruto realized that he no idea how to deal with the situation and avoiding it wasn't going to work forever. And acting like he knew how to handle the situation would just blow up in his face. So, he did what he thought best for the time being, which was to go with his former idea and avoid his classmate at all costs, despite the longing looks that his classmate was sending to him.

Any further contemplation of the topic was disrupted by Naruto's beloved home room teacher slamming the door open.

"Once the bell rings, get in your seats." He said in possibly the most passive-aggressive way he could. However, Naruto couldn't blame the man. He probably heard everyone complaining about the exam from down the hall.

It also seemed like the entire class had finally learned to not mess with the sleepy homeroom teacher. Naruto observed as everyone sat properly in their seat and fell silent before their teacher could even finish talking.

"Morning. Unfortunately, there are those who did not pass the final exams. Accordingly for the training camp in the woods…everyone's going!" The usually grumpy teacher announced to the class as he walked to the front of the room. Naruto had half a mind to wonder what happened to their teacher that morning or during the previous night that caused him to be…joyful by Aizawa standards.

"He and the screaming blond probably got it on last night." A familiar voice said, making himself known for the second time that morning.

"Kurama please, this is not the time." Naruto told the demon, effectively ending the conversation before he could get into another argument with him.

"But am I wrong?" He pushed.

"Of course not." Naruto immediately said with a scoff

Moving onto the matter at hand, Naruto didn't want to say he called it…but he definitely called it. What he did not expect, however, was the weird smile that appeared on their teachers face when saying this even though his eyes remained dead. It was something Naruto had never seen before and prayed to the ramen gods that he would never see again.

"Some students failed the practical portion of the exam, but no one failed the written exam. In the practical, Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, and Sato failed. For this time's exam, we on the villain side made sure to leave a way for the students to win while watching to see how you all would take on the task at hand. If we hadn't, most of you would've gotten stuck before you started." Aizawa continued, the weird smile disappearing from his face.

"So when you said you were really out to crush us…?" Ojiro trailed off, not completely sure who to finish his sentence. But Naruto could hear the hesitance in his classmates voice.

"That was to make you feel cornered. In the first place, the training camp in the woods is one to increase strength. So those who failed need it the most. They have to get stronger. It was a rational falsehood." Aizawa explained to the class, the odd smile making a reappearance on his face causing Naruto to look in the opposite direction.

While everyone who failed the practical exam was rejoicing in the fact that they were able to go on the camping trip, the beloved class rep was having a crisis. This proved to be true when he abruptly stood from his seat, knocking his chair back, and exclaiming "However, since you lied to us twice, our faith in you will waver!"

"Wow, you're being a wet blanket Iida." Ochacko said, surprising most people in the class with her bluntness.

"That's true. I'll consider that. But I wasn't lying about everything. Failure is failure. We have prepared a separate time for extra lessons for you all. Frankly, it'll be tougher than the extra lessons you'd get if you stayed at school." Aizawa explained to the class before the dismissal bell rang and their homeroom teacher traveled to his next destination.

"Oh well since were off tomorrow and we just finished our exams, why doesn't class 1-A go shopping together?" Hagakure suggested.

Naruto didn't know the context of the conversation before she said that, but as soon as those words left her mouth, he felt a sense of dread bubble up in his stomach. Having just finished reviewing the booklet filled with items that were needed for the training camp, Naruto had already made a mental list of everything that he needed. This list included: a swimsuit. That was it. Everything else Naruto already had and was inconspicuous enough that he could use it during the training camp without any heads turning.

What Naruto was expecting was a nice quiet day tomorrow. Jiraiya and Haru didn't know that he had the day off tomorrow, Shikamaru had work all day, and Sasuke wasn't scheduled to meet with him. Meaning, Naruto could have a lazy day and go shopping just before Jiraiya, Haru, and Shikamaru got their for dinner so he wasn't stuck cooking it. After all, he only needed one thing, so a quick five minute trip in the nearest clothing store and Naruto would be set. It would take him 15 minutes max.

But no, apparently, nothing can go as Naruto plans when he wants to be lazy. Now, Naruto was going to be stuck in a noisy, crowded mall with his entire class for what Naruto thought would be a minimum of four hours.

Just great.

"Oh good idea!" Denki called out, as he and a couple other people in the class quickly agreed to the idea.

Maybe if Naruto tip toed quietly enough, he could make it out before anyone asked him if he wanted to join. He would have to do it without using any shinobi skills though because the classroom wasn't that big for it to go unknown if someone saw out of the corner of their eye.

Sadly, Sero beat him to it.

"Hey, Naruto, you want to come with us?" He asked, with a big smile on his face as he grasped Naruto's shoulder from behind him.

"Ah I wish I could but I have to train with my godfather tomorrow." He told his classmate sheepishly and he turned to face him with his eyes closed and a hand rubbing his neck.

"But training won't take all day, right? Just do it after you come shopping with us! You can just tell him that you need stuff for the camp, it's not like you would be lying."

"Yeah…yeah ok I'll come with." Naruto relented. How could he when Sero was staring at him like that?

Well the day was finally here, and Naruto stood in a mall courtyard with the majority of class 1-A, excluding Bakugou and Todoroki who managed to get out of the shopping trip.

Lucky bastards.

So far, they had been recognized by a crowd of people from the sports festival who proceeded to yell at them, Izuku had muttered about everything he needed causing a crowd of people to back away from them, and Iida had begun to yell at everyone about the exact things the booklet had said about the supplies they were supposed to bring.

Naruto knew he would regret this. But he was already at the mall, so he might as well grab what he needed and see if he can get away with leaving early.

Just as Naruto thought that he was going to have to take control over the situation and lead everyone, considering the class representative and vice representative were not doing their job, Kirishima surprisingly took over the situation.

"Everyone has different things they want to do, so why don't we decide on a time to meet back up?" He asked everyone.

Mina was immediately on board with an enthusiastic "I agree!"

"Alright! Then let's meet back here at 3 o'clock" He told everyone. This gave them about two hours to shop before returning.

"Okay!" Everyone yelled before going in different directions.

It wasn't that Naruto didn't mind hanging out with his two classmates. He had gotten quite used to the constant shit talking that him and Sero would do about various things, and he enjoyed his frequent contests and races with Kirishima. What he did not appreciate, however, was how the two boys took everything to the extreme.

"Nah dude I don't think that this shade of red is manly enough. I think I need a brighter shade." Kirishima said, as he spined in front of the mirror in the dressing room. Naruto sat next to Sero just outside his room and the two boys would offer their advice with every suit that he tried on. So far, he had gone through five different bathing suit styles before finding one that he liked and this was his fourth suit in just this particular style that he had vetoed because the red wasn't bright enough.

"I think that the speedo you tried on before suited you better my man, and those have a neon red colors that your probably looking for." Sero said. Naruto fully expected for his friend to snicker and fist bump him after saying that, but no such thing happened. He looked over to see his friend deep in thought as if actually considering what he was saying.

"Look, Kirishima, I hate to break it to you but I think what you have on right now is the brightest shade of red of any swimsuit you want here. Now we have to meet up with everyone in an hour and while I have just loved watching you try on literally everything in the store of the same color we need to get going. I may only need to buy a bathing suit today but I'm sure the two of you need more. So why don't you just buy the one you have on now, Sero and I will also buy the suits we picked out almost an hour and a half ago and we can see what else we can buy before we have to meet up with everyone." Naruto said, dying to get out of the store and look at something that wasn't a red swimsuit so bright it hurt his eyes.

"…Do I really look good in this one? I don't want anyone thinking that a future manly hero such as myself doesn't dress manly enough." Kirishima bashfully said.

"Yes bro, you look amazing in that one. It really brings out your manly hair. Now lets go." Sero said, catching Naruto's drift and fully agreeing with his friend.

Ten minutes later, Naruto walked out of the store with a single black swimsuit with dark orange strips down the side, Sero had a basic black one with white strips down the side, and Kirishima had a solid, all neon red swimsuit.

One trip later to buy some bug spray and sleeping bags for Sero and Kirishima, they were just about to head back to the class meeting spot and grab some food when the alarms suddenly started going off around the mall, and police sirens could be heard coming from a couple roads up.

Despite their best efforts, the mall cop had informed everyone that they were on a lockdown and unable to leave the store. So the three boys sat together in the corner of the store trying to pass the time. They, however, did not have anything to use to pass the time, and they were reluctant to use cell phones in case they were needed for something else. Which was how they got caught playing eye spy for the next half hour.

"I spy…something…red." Sero said in a bored tone.

"Is it Kirishima's sleeping bag?" Naruto asked, equally as bored. Nothing in the store was red, exclude the paddleboards that Kirishima had pointed out a couple rounds ago.

"Ah, you got me Naruto." Sero said, no emotion evident in his voice.

"Hey…do you guys think everyone is ok?" Kirishima murmured shyly. He hadn't participated in the last six rounds and Naruto could now say that it was probably due to his worrying of their classmates.

"I'm sure everyone is fine Kirishima, someone probably lost their kid or something." It was just after Naruto spoke these words that all of their phones went off.

Izuku: Hey, so I need everyone to not freak out

"Of course, of course this somehow relates to Izuku. When does it not relate to him? Why am I not shocked about this." Naruto muttered to himself, shaking his head.

Denki: Why would we freak out?

Denki: And when is everyone coming to the meeting spot? I'm hungry

Jirou: Denki, the mall is on lock down

Denki: …Is that why Ashido and I are the only ones out right now?

Bakugou: Oh my fucking god dunce face of course your this stupid to not realize the mall is on lock down

Jirou: Despite all of the alarms going off and the mall cops yelling at everyone to stay in a store

Denki: How do you know it's even on lockdown? You're not even here! You don't know how confusing this is!

Bakugou: It's on the goddamn news dunce face

Iida: Bakugou, language

Bakugou: Suck my dick I'll say whatever the hell I want

Todoroki: The mall is on lock down?

Momo: Yes, but no one knows why.

Momo: Is everyone safe?

Izuku: About that…

Tokoyami: Do you happened to know about the dark situation that has settled over us Izuku?

Izuku: Yeah so…Shigaraki, one of the LOV guys was sorta here and cornered me which is why were on lock down…

Ojiro: Oh no! Are you ok?

Izuku: Yes, I'm fine, he didn't hurt me but the cops are trying to find him now

Todoroki: Well I am just glad that everyone at the gathering is ok

Iida: Yes, and as class rep I'm sorry that I was not there to help you Izuku!

Izuku: It's ok Iida! Really! Uraraka is here with me anyway she helped me out!

Kirishima: Are you both ok?

Uraraka: We're both fine! But it was very scary! He had his hand around Deku's neck! I'm just glad he didn't do anything

Momo: Well I am glad that everyone is ok

Iida: I agree, and when the lockdown lifts, we should all meet at the entrance and make sure that everyone goes home in pairs to ensure everyone's safety, along with a text in the chat when everyone gets home!

Sero: Sure thing Iida :) Glad everyone is ok _

Naruto: Everyone can speak for themselves. I'm starving and am supposed to be home in the next half hour

Iida: I'm sure your guardian will understand your delayed time getting home Naruto. Your safety is his number one priority!

Naruto: His book is his number one priority. The world could be burning and he would expect me home on time. The problem of my hunger is also not solved sitting in this outdoors store.

Bakugou: That sounds like a fucking you problem

Denki: Hey guys…

Bakugou: Fucking what dunce face

Denki: I think they're letting everyone leave now

Ashido: Yeah! They just let us walk out the doors!

Iida: Everyone! Meet at the entrance!

Kirishima: Roger that!

If you thought that Naruto stuck around for the class arrangements to walk home, than you would be thinking wrong. Amongst the chaos of Iida trying to take the attendance of everyone and get them to quiet down while he figured out who lived in the same direction, Naruto just slowly fazed himself out of all conversations until he could walk away without anyone noticing.

He debated the idea of taking the train home, but ultimately decided against it. The train wasn't bound to show up for another 45 minutes and someone else would show up to the station by then and he would rather not listen to his classmates try to scold him.

So, Naruto simply plugged his earphones into his phone and started jogging home while listening to some music as a warm up for the workout he would inevitably have to do once he got home.

It was 78 degrees out and he only had an hour jog until he arrived at his apartment. Hopefully, that would be enough to warm him up for a real workout once he got to his destination.

And, just maybe, he could finish his entire workout and shower before his classmates spammed his phone too much.

A/N: Hey everyone! So sorry about the unexpected borderline hiatus I took…that was completely unplanned I swear. I got really caught up with school and club activates that I just didn't have the time or mental energy to really write a good quality chapter that I was proud of. But now that everything has died down, I'm hoping to update at least twice a month, so be on the lookout for new upcoming chapters! But what did everyone think of this chapter? I know not a lot happened and I was going to include some stuff that happened in the next episode but this was already 10 pages long that I just decided to save it for the next chapter. What do you guys think should happen between Naruto and Tokoyami? What do you think about the mall scene? I took my own creative liberty with that just because the only thing we saw in the anime was Izuku with Shigaraki, and I wanted to show that Naruto had more friends than just Izuku and that it is his own story, so he won't be there for every dramatic thing that happens to anyone in the class. Anyway, leave a review and let me know what you think of the chapter!
