Chapter 23
Spike stayed with Cara helping her out with Illyria. He doubted that she was able to convince her to leave Fred's body. She seemed quite fond of Spike and his relationship with a slayer. She studied their affection and reactions towards one another. Illyria admired how he was so kind and loving towards her, it was a side of him that she hasn't seen before.
"Would you be willing to help her come back or leave her body?" Cara asked her.
"I'm happy where I am," she answered her.
"Wes misses her," Cara said slowly.
"Don't think that will work love," Spike looked at Cara. Cara's hand rubbed along his face a little looking at him a moment before pulling away.
"Is there anyone else you'd rather live in? There are plenty of other bodies maybe in the grave." Cara looked at her
"No."
"Go on you two I got her," Wes said coming into the lab.
"Call if you need anything," Cara looked back at him. Spike followed her up the stairs to the main office. Cara saw one of her friends standing up there waiting for her.
"Hey, I had her wait for you," Harmony came up to Cara.
"Wow, why is your face so red?" Cara looked at her. Spike stood behind her listening.
"Going to be in a wedding, thought you would know how to take this off bad make up," she said upset.
She started to cry "Stop crying ok, its ok. A quarter cup of lemon juice and warm water," Cara advised her.
"Really?"
"Scrub," she answered her. Her friend left taking her advicw allowing her to continue to do what she was doing. Cara sat at her desk going through paperwork organizing it to go in the filing cabinet. Spike must have went into Angel's office to talk to him. Cara's desk phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Will you please come in my office?" She heard Angel's voice.
"You had to interrupt me doing filing how dare you," she said giving him trouble. Cara got up walking into Angel's office.
"What's going on with Illyria?" He asked her.
"Wes is dealing with her right now, so far nothing," Cara explained.
Angel left them alone in the office, Spike took her hand pulling her close to him leaning in stealing a kiss. "You ok?" Cara asked not expecting that.
"I'm fine, you look worn," he sat her in his lap.
"Just a lot going on, I've been eating and working don't worry," Cara replied.
He was so sweet kind and charming taking her hand like a gentleman kissing it. Something about him just made her want to melt. "If you need anything at all just tell me," Spike said a little concerned for her well being.
"I'm always going to need you but I get it," she kissed him briefly. The only thing Spike ever felt with her was love and complete happiness.
Angel came back in the office seeing her sitting on Spike's lap. "Wes is trying, but I don't think shes going to agree to leave," Angel spoke.
"We kind of figure that mate, she's a bloody stubborn one," Spike looked at him.
They spent most of the day in Angel's office, when it was night time they patrolled in the graveyard. Cara remained quiet feeling nothing but exhausted. She then started sensing some sort of presence near by. "It's Drusilla," Cara looked at Spike.
"Spike." They heard her voice.
She came out from behind a tombstone, they noticed she looked a little different than usual. "Something happen to her?" Cara asked him.
"She has a soul now, I can feel it," he stood there.
Angel walked by the graveyard seeing both Spike and Cara along with Drusilla. "Angel, she's got a soul now, or maybe it's just some temp spell," She looked at him.
"How?" He asked her.
"Don't know," Cara shrugged.
Dru got close to Spike looking at him. "I did it for you for us," she looked into his eyes.
"There is no us," Spike pulled her away from him.
"What happened?" Angel got in front of Cara questioning Dru.
"I couldn't live alone anymore, I used a book to give me a soul," she explained.
"Alone, weren't you just sleeping with that demon?" Cara asked her.
"A girls got to change," she looked at her.
"I call bull shit," Cara called her out. Spike looked at Cara then back at Dru.
"Not sure if we can trust you," Angel said unsure.
"She was you're ex Spike," Cara looked at him.
"I know that pet but she is the least of my concern now," he said calmly.
"Should I just leave and let you and Spike deal with this?" Cara asked annoyed.
"No." Spike looked at her. "Leave Dru." Angel looked at Spike seeing his decision was clear, he didn't trust her nor want to be around her. Derek came up to them seeing them leaving Dru there.
"What's going on?" Derek asked them.
"We're bailing on Dru shes Spike's ex." Derek held a bag in front of her wanting if she wanted some. Cara looked in the bag "Hell no, get that away from me," she said not wanting any seeing he was eating more grasshoppers.
"Is she?" Derek asked her.
"A vampire dumbass," Cara said knowing what he meant. Spike snickered at that holding his Caraline's hand.
"Bar?" Derek asked them.
"I'm exhausted I'm going to sleep. Spike if you want go," Cara looked at him.
"You sure."
"Go," she leaned in kissing him briefly. Cara had left going the other direction. The guys went to the bar grabbing a beer. They all got a beer sitting down at the table finding a chair.
"I'm still trying to adjust that your acually married," Angel looked at Spike.
"I've gotten use to it," Spike spoke sipping his beer.
"So like no other chick in here interests you?" Derek wondered.
"Not particularly, you think when us vampires find the one we are just going to think every woman is going to distract us. It's not true mate, when I said the only thing you see is her that's all you tend to care about," Spike explained.
"You like don't look once in a while?" Derek said not getting it.
"We do but in my case she's all I need. I've never met anyone like her before, our love is eternity." Spike took another sip of his beer.
"Still don't get how you ended up with a woman like that," Angel looked at her.
"Fate."
Spike didnt stay to much longer finishing his beer. He wanted to head home to be with Caraline. The key was in his pocket when he made it to the door swiping it. The lights were off and all was quiet. Cara was sound asleep in bed snuggled up to the blankets. He threw his clothes on the floor getting in with her.
"Spike." She looked at him.
"I'm here pet." He kissed the top of her head.
"You didn't stay out too long," she yawned.
"I'd rather be with you," he said pulling her close to him.
"Wes called me letting me know he was going to try to get all the slayers together. Not sure when they will all show up," she said stretching.
"You're smart, I know you can do this," Spike said playing with her hair.
"Drake's guys are stronger than what we're use to. Your stronger now which means I may need to train them with you. They need to know their strength which means you're the guinea pig," Cara looked at him.
"I highly doubt that love, if anything you've increased my strength quite a bit," he said holding her.
"Yeah you probably could take me pretty well when it comes to fighting."
"Maybe but I could never hurt you, I wouldn't forgive myself if I did." She felt him kissing on her neck some as he held her. Spike was always very affectionate towards her, it was his way of always showing how much he loved her. Their lips met kissing each other deeply. His hands wandered removing her underwear sliding them off. She remained on top allowing him to slide in riding him. He removed her silk slip seeing it was the last thing to take off of her.
He laid there moaning some feeling nothing but pure pleasure. Their love making lasted a little longer until they found their release. They had fallen asleep waking up to the sun shinning through the blinds. Spike waited for her to get ready, then they headed up to the office. Cara's day was short since she had been working so much.
She went to her desk finding another envelope. "Harmony, envelope?" Cara said holding it up.
"Don't know it was there before I got there," Harmony looked her direction.
Cara barely got her laptop open and her desk phone was ringing. "Hello?"
"Did I leave a file on your desk?" Angel asked her.
"In a folder right?"
"I've got it," she said hanging up, bring it with her along with the envelope she found on her desk. Cara walked into Angel's office seeing Spike sitting in one of the chairs in front of him looking her direction. "Here," she handed Angel the folder.
"Thanks," he took it.
"Another one." Cara set the envelope on his desk. "She opened it up dumping out a bracelet.
"Looks strange," Spike picked it up looking at it.
"Put it with the rest," Cara gave it to him.
"I'll give it to Wes first," Angel took it putting it back in the envelope. Spike noticed how she was dressed wearing a white short sleeve peasant type shirt with a long black skirt. Her hair was down pulled to the sides with curls in it. It kind of reminded him of how some girls dressed back in the eighteen hundreds with a more modern look to it. Either way to him she looked beautiful but something about today made her stand out to him.
She was standing there with her attention on her phone. Angel was sitting there writing something down and Spike had his attention towards his wife watching her messing with her phone. She wasn't like most women, Cara had a big heart not always thinking about herself nor thinking she was better than anyone. Spike loved that she was different, even now he realized how different she is than Buffy.
Derek came in seeing everyone in the office. "Hey guys," he walked in. Spike said hi to him, it was one of the few people he'd acknowledge.
"Hey," Angel looked up at him.
"Sis," Derek stood in front of her."
"Yeah whatever, I'm fixing something," Cara said still looking at her phone. She finished what she was doing putting it in her pocket.
"Anything?" Derek asked them.
"Everything is moving so damn slow," Spike answered him.
"That's because every time we try to get back to it something comes up," Cara looked at Spike.
"Then, we have Drusilla," Spike sighed at that.
"Oh her," Derek said remembering last night.
"I'm not sure if we should trust her," Angel looked at them.
Cara walked around standing behind Spike where he was sitting. "Probably because she's after Spike in her old weird nice way," Cara explained. She felt his hand grab hers holding on to it.
"You have nothing to worry about love," Spike saw her walk around the chair setting her on his lap.
"Right, even though she is the one who sired you and was your first love." Cara said remembering.
"You're jealous," Derek noticed her tone.
"I am not, just as long as she doesn't try to do some spell on him or something." Spike could easily sense what she was feeling.
"You have nothing to worry about, you're the only one that has my heart," Spike said meaning every word.
"Derek, can I talked to you for a second?" Angel had her brother follow him leaving Cara and Spike alone in the office.
"I know, it's just." Before she could speak, he leaned in kissing her a moment.
"She's not you." He said playing with her hair.
"I know," Cara nudge him.
"Cara," Angel called her. Cara got off Spike walking to the front seeing a girl standing in front of him. She had brown hair and brown eyes.
"You are?" Cara asked her.
"Faith, Angel told me about you," she shook her hand briefly.
"Look what the cat drug in," Spike said seeing her standing next to his wife.
Faith looked over at Spike seeing him standing there. "Right, yet you're still here." she looked at him.
Cara filled her in about the different breed of vampires explaining how to kill them. "You don't look like a slayer," Faith said looking at her.
"She is," Spike chimed in.
"You look like a simple office girl," Faith looked at her.
"Spike is telling the truth," Angel replied.
"Simple?" Cara said a little confused by that. "You have got to be shitting me right? I am an ex cop too."
Faith took a swing at her and Cara blocked her grabbing her arm. "You have no idea what your messing with. Faith kicked her hard enough to cause her to fall back. Cara got up a little annoyed and can't believe she was doing this right in front of everyone.
"Hey knock it off," Angel looked at Faith.
Cara went towards her fighting her blocking most of her hits as Faith got some hits in. She flipped faith over throwing her on the ground. Faith flipped up side kicking her and Cara was able to dodge her pretty well. It became apparent to faith that she was a slayer and that she moved faster than what she was use to. Cara finally punched her pretty hard across the face. Angel grabbed her keeping her away from her. Spike stood there watching.
"How the hell did you learn to move fast?" Faith asked her.
"Been doing this since it as six, had a good teacher." Cara answered her.
"Watcher train you?"
"Nope full out took martial arts, a little more skilled than that. I was almost desperate to grab my sai in my bag there," Cara said taking it out twirling it.
"Ok maybe you're not simple." Faith knew she misjudged her.
"Is this how you greet most people?"
"Sometimes, so how do you know Spike?" She asked her.
"He found me a couple of years back, kind of an ass at first but I tolerated it." Cara explained and Spike snickered at that.
"Not that I meant to on purpose love," Spike spoke.
"I can disagree with that, seeing you were watching me for a while." Cara looked at him. Her took her hand in his kissing it.
"Wait are you two?" Faith asked confused.
"Eloped, yep he decided to put up with me," Cara joked. Faith noticed another guy coming their direction. "That's my brother Derek," she introduced her.
"Who's she?" Derek asked Cara.
"Faith, another slayer," Cara answered him.
Derek started talking to her introducing himself. He started flirting a little and all Cara could do was roll her eyes.
"Desperate," Cara stood there. Spike stood behind her holding on to her hand.
"Shut up," Derek said hearing her.
"Part of me wonders if you're still human eating those grasshoppers," Cara said giving him a hard time.
"Chocolate covered." Derek corrected her.
"Whatever," Cara walked into Angel's office leaving him there to talk. She sat on the couch and Spike sat beside her.
"So what are we doing about Dru?" Cara asked him.
"What is there to do? I could care less." Spike answered her.
