A couple weeks later David comes running into the barn wearing a tee shirt and shorts as Lyndy is standing at a stall as she turns around "How was your run?" Lyndy says as David takes his earbuds out

"It was okay" David says as he looks at her as he walks up to the stall "Who's this guy?"

"This is Bristol" Lyndy says walking inside the stall as she rubs the horse "He's the horse I was telling you about, the one who's owners barn caught on fire" she says continuing "Physically he's fine, but he's started having some behavior issues because of it"

"What kind of behavior issues?" David says as he walks into the stall with her

"Well he's just been really jumpy, especially around people" Lyndy says as she looks at him "And I'm trying to work on getting him more comfortable with me"

"I mean the Nelson's barn they figured out that was arson so it's understandable why he's so jumpy" David says as he looks at her "You think you can trust people and then something like this happens"

"I'm going to try and see if there is anything in Grandma Marion's book that can help him" Lyndy says as she looks at him "I know mom use to use it a whole lot when she was helping horses" she says continuing to look at him "But I'm guessing your concern goes beyond Bristol"

"I've just been thinking about this past year" David says as he looks at Lyndy "And how far I've come"

"You have" Lyndy says as he looks at him "Dad and GG haven't had to set up traps at the bottom of the stairs in a long time" Lyndy says as she smiles at him

"Yea" David says as he turns back to pat Bristol "But if everything hadn't happened in the first place, if it wasn't for my dad leaving us, or my mom finding my stepdad, and then my mom and that's a whole other can of worms" he says continuing "If they had all been there for me, or even for each other maybe nothing in the past would have happened" he says as Lyndy continues to look at him "Maybe your mom would still be here" he says as Lyndy walks over closer to him "looking back I realize there was years that I went, that I wasn't any better than Bristol here, not trusting anybody"

"But if all of that have never happened" Lyndy says as she walks over to him "You may have never came here and we never would have met" she says continuing "And I'm always going to wish my mom was here but I don't blame you for that" she says continuing to look at him

"I know" David says as he looks at her "But it definitely has had an impact on the decision that I have made" he says as Lyndy looks at him

"So you did decide then" Lyndy says as she looks at him "But could you do it with your record"

"Well I went by the station the other day" David says as he looks at her "And they said that I would have to go before the board and tell them what I learned through being in the system and give them proof that I understand what I did in the past was wrong" he says continuing "And why I am so passionate about doing this"

"And why are you so passionate about doing it" Lyndy says as she looks at him

"Because I couldn't save your mom and that's always going to be with me in the back of my mind" David says as Lyndy looks at him "But I may be able to save someone else from the same thing"

"I need to hear you say it" Lyndy says as she continues to look at him

"I want to be a police officer" David says as Lyndy continues to look at him "But right now I need to go upstairs and take a shower" he says continuing "And then I'll try to help you with Bristol some before dinner" he says as he begins to go upstairs as Lyndy watches him go

Lyndy is sitting in the vet clinic sometime later as David comes in holding an envelop where he had applied to the police academy "It came" David says as he looks at her

"I don't know yet" David says as he looks at her "I'm too nervous to open it" he says as Ty comes out of the examination room

"What's going on?" Ty says as he walks over to the desk where David is still looking at the envelope

"David got a letter from the police academy" Lyndy says as Ty looks at them "Do you want me to open it?"

"Yea" David says as he hands her the letter "You're going to have to, I can't" he says as Lyndy takes the envelope as she tears it open reading the letter as Ty grins as Lyndy looks at it

"Well" David says as he continues to look at them "What does it say?"

"It says" Ty says before Lyndy begins to cut him off

"It says that you better be coming to visit me as often as you can because your girlfriend is going to miss you like crazy while your gone" Lyndy says as a grin comes across her face too "You did it, you're going to the police academy" she finishes as David lets out a sigh of relief as Lyndy and Ty continue to look at him

Everybody is sitting around the dinner table a few weeks later "So how are things going at the police academy?" Tim says as he looks over where David is sitting next to Lyndy

"It's going good" David says as he looks at him "It's been kind of rough but it's going good" he says continuing "I've been using muscles these last few weeks I didn't even know that I had" he finishes as Tim lets out a smirk

"Well we're proud of you" Jack says as him, Lisa and Ty look at him

"Yea very proud" Lisa says as she smiles at him

"Well I appreciate that" David says as he turns to look at them "But I think I'm going to get ready to go back to the loft" he says as he slowly begins to get up "Take a really hot shower and lay down" he says continuing "I'll see you in the morning okay" he says giving Lyndy a kiss on top of the head

"Okay" Lyndy says as she smiles up at him as he begins to walk out of the house

"I never knew anyone could be so sore" David says on the way out as everyone turns around to look at him as he walks out
