Chapter 24

Cara walked with Faith in the graveyard in the evening. They talked a little getting to know each other. Cara had hoped a vampire would come by giving Faith a chance to figure out how to kill the other breeds. After a while, one had come out going after them. Cara tossed Faith the stake having her fight him, she eventually got it in the heart seeing he didn't die. Cara pulled out some lighter fluid throwing it at him causing it to break and drench him. Faith took out a match lighting it setting him on fire, not bad for the first time." Cara watched her.

"So tell me, how do you move so fast?" Faith asked her.

"Work on your reflexes, How fast can you block someone before they get their next hit?" Cara explained.

Faith threw a punch and Cara blocked her. "Don't take your eyes off the enemy, that what most fighters fail to do. That's why they get in so many hits."

Faith tried a few more times as Cara helped her a few times. "Better."

"Makes sense." Faith said getting it.

"I know you're here Spike," Cara Spoke.

"I can't seem to hide from you my love," he came up kissing her cheek. His arm wrapped around her seeing Faith standing in front of her.

"I'm going to go meet your brother at the bar, you guys coming?" Faith asked them.

"I guess," Cara took Spike's hand dragging him a little with her. They went to the bar down the street walking in. It was crowded and it took a moment to spot Derek. Derek had found them leading him to his table. There was a couple of guys with their girlfriends sitting at this large table. Derek introduce his sister and Spike along with Faith.

Cara looked his direction seeing how into Faith he was. She hoped maybe he would settle down after so long. They sat around and drank a little talking. Spike talked a little but kept his attention mostly on Cara. She seemed to be the one who talked more than he did. A slow song came on and everyone at the table got up. Spike had her dance with him leading her to the dance floor wrapping his arms around her as they slow danced.

She felt his hand rub along her face as he looked into her eyes. He leaned in kissing her lips pulling her close to him. "You make me fast dance. I will kick your ass," Cara looked at him.

He laughed at that "I promise I won't." He said looking at her.

As they danced, they both felt content with each other. Spike leaned in kissing her a moment looking into her eyes. The song ended and he put his arm around her guiding her back to their seat. Both of them looked back seeing her brother and Faith dancing to a fast song.

Cara could help but laugh seeing her brother trying to dance. "What are you doing?" She called him from a short distance.

Derek shrugged his shoulders just going with the flow. Spike couldn't help but laugh seeing how ridiculous he looked. The song was over and they went to sit back down. They talked a little more before leaving heading back to the apartment. Spike walked her holding her hand enjoying the quiet.

"Wait a second," Cara stopped.

"What?" He looked at her.

"Dru." She looked at him. He stopped a moment able to sense her.

"Spike." She came towards them.

He sighed still keeping Caraline by his side. "What do you want?" He asked her.

"Please, help me," she pleaded.

"Go home Dru, don't you have a demon to keep you company?" He stood there looking at her.

"I need you."

"Need me? Where the hell were you when I needed you? It's too late, I've moved on and so should you. The only difference, she loves me Dru, it's something that you couldn't do. I see that more now," he said walking away with Cara walking with him.

They went into the apartment making it to their door, Spike unlocked the door having her walk in front of him. He immediately shut it making sure the door was locked.

"Spike, are you ok?" Cara walked up to him.

"I'm alright, she's just not a part of my life anymore. I have no reason to worry about her." He removed his jacket putting it on the couch. Cara went to walk the other way feeling his hand grab hers.

"Sometimes, I wonder if you wish you could be with someone who could give you a life I can't." He looked at her.

"Spike, I don't want anyone else. I'm happy just the way I am with you. I don't care about anything else just please don't leave me," Cara held him.

He held her appreciating everything she's done for him. "I couldn't leave you if I tried," he leaned in kissing her.

"No second thoughts?"

"No, I just want you to be happy," Spike said thinking of her feelings.

"I think you found me for a reason." He looked at her smiling a little. They went to the bedroom, Cara changed her clothes getting into bed. Spike was in there waiting for her then he snuggled up to her.

"I'm just glad I'm not alone anymore," he laid there holding her.

"I'm just glad you're not a jerk anymore," Cara said giving him trouble.

He couldn't help but chuckle. "You're not going to let that go?" He looked at her.

"Probably not," she kissed him.

He kissed her back holding her enjoying their moment togeather. Spike pulled back to look at her "I love you," he said keeping his attention on her.

"I love you too." He laid there as she cuddled up to him falling asleep. Spike continued to watch her sleep leaving soft kisses on the top of her head. Cara started having dreams of her fighting and her dying while fighting. When she awoke, it was already daylight and Spike was lying there beside her asleep.

She got up getting in the shower, then got dressed. Spike had gotten up already at the office before it became to bright with the sun coming out. When she got done getting herself together, she headed to the office coming in the back door. Wes was in his office and Cara knocked on the door.

"Wes, can we talk?" She asked him.

"I have some time." He sat down in his chair.

"I had this dream fighting, then I died while fighting. does that mean anything?" Cara asked him.

"Sometimes, it does have meaning. Dreams also can tell your future I have learned." He explained.

"Any way to prevent it?"

"I'm not so sure."he answered her. "This had came to me." Wes said handing her the Scythe, someone must have figured you would need this." Cara took it holding on to it seeing it light up a little.

"Interesting weapon," she looked at it.

Angel called them to his office, Cara carried the weapon with her not wanting to just leave it there. Spike saw Cara coming in with the weapon reconizing it when Buffy used it in battle.

"Where did it come from?" Spike asked her.

"Someone gave it to Wes thinking I may need it," Cara answered him.

She sat down on the couch, Spike moved over by her. "Were ready to use whatever it is your brother found against Drake," Angel replied.

"We aren't one hundred percent that it's going to work,' Spike replied.

"It's worth a try." Angel looked his direction.

"Who knows we may be back to square one," Cara sighed. Spike took her hand holding it in his.

There was a knock at the door and Angel called them to come in. Buffy was standing there giving Angel a blank stare. "Buffy, are you ok?" Cara asked her.

"A little better," She answered her.

After what she had been doing, Spike didn't seem to surprised to see her. "I'm sorry Angel." she looked at him. I shouldn't have done what I did, I'm only here to help. Wes got a hold of Giles and he talked me in to coming," She explained.

"Time is changing and we are dealing with a different breed of vampires. Stakes aren't working anymore, at least not with Drake's kind. The only thing that works is lighting them on fire," Cara explained.

"Sounds like plenty of matches and lighter fluid." Buffy said surprised.

"Guys we need to put our differences aside for now, we need any help we can get," Cara advised them.

"We aren't even sure those things your brother gave us will work," Angel spoke.

"First, we need to find him." Cara replied.

"Seems like a good hider to me," Wes replied.

"Sorry, I'm late," Derek came in.

"Have fun?" Derek rolled his eyes at his sister. They continued to talk a little more until Angel dismissed everyone.

"We didn't go that far," Derek replied.

"She probably would have kicked you ass," Cara said giving him trouble.

"Yeah right."

"I'm serious." Spike listened in between them talking. Angel and Buffy were having their own conversation at his desk.

Faith came in seeing Cara and her brother. "Would you have kicked my brother's ass if he tried to go further with you?" Cara asked her.

"Probably."

"See I told you." Cara rubbed it in his face. "You're not that charming after all." Spike couldn't believe the stupid conversations her and her brother would have, still he found them funny. He knew it was a sibling thing understanding why.

"I'm not that charming?" Derek asked Cara.

"You eat chocolate grasshoppers, that makes you not human." Cara argued.

"I kissed him," Faith admitted.

"See it makes it even worse." Their conversations was starting to get loud causing Angel and Buffy to hear what they are saying.

"Ok we need to leave the office before we're kicked out. Come on grasshopper," Cara said following them out.

Spike looked back at them shaking his head. "What? They seem like a fun bunch," Buffy looked at Spike.

"Yes, quite entertaining," he answered her. "The only one I give a damn about is her." He said standing up.

"I can tell, the way you look at her," Buffy replied.

"I didn't expect to fall in love again." Spike looked her direction. "It just happened."

Cara came back in Angel's office glad to have her brother out. "I had to escape, my desk was starting to become a make out space. Also, Derek and Faith are coming with us." Cara informed them. "That's if I don't have to pry them off each other." Cara got a text saying they left her desk finding a private spot.

"Well at least they are coming with us," Angel looked at her.

Cara left going back to her desk getting some work done. Spike came over to her sitting next to her. She seemed to have a lot on her mind staring at her computer.

"You alright?" He asked a little concerned.

"I told Wes about a dream I had, I didn't really tell him on the random ones I've had. I did some research and they say it's a way for spirits of slayers or something to come in contact with the living. Apparently, my time on earth is not meant to be long. I'm only here to fight Drake which is probably the reason why I'm here." She explained.

"I don't believe that, they are just dreams," Spike held her no wanting it to be true.

Spike lead her to Angel's office telling them what she told him. "You can't always depend on that," Buffy explained to her.

"Then, why do I keep dreaming stuff like this?"

"I won't let anything happen to you," Spike looked at her.

"You know we wouldnt let anything happen to you," Angel said walking up to her.

"You do have weird dreams, it happens to me to," Buffy assured her.

"Fun, it would have been nice to know that," Cara sighed.

Derek and Faith came in the door all laughing and talking. "Have fun shagging you to?" Spiked asked them.

"I doubt they heard you. Hey, dumbass," she said getting her brother's attention.

"Huh?" He looked at her.

"See told you, he's whipped already." The guys laughed at that hearing it from Cara.

The day had come and went, everyone was getting ready to look for Drake. They left walking to the first bar they came to. "In and out Derek no beer," Cara said walking past him.

"Come on Spike?"

"Gotta listen to the wife mate," he replied.

"Shut it grasshopper," Cara looked back at her brother.

"What did I get myself into?" Buffy looked at Angel.

"Nothing, but I suggested we split up." Angel advised everyone.

"Crowded," Faith said looking around. "By the way, you're brother is a big sweetheart."

"I guess." Cara shrugged.

"We are kinda dating."

"Just don't hurt him, he's a good guy." Cara advised her.

"He's amazing." Faith said thinking about their moment together.

"Ok, don't need to know that." Cara said walking around looking. Spike eventually caught up to her seeing no sign of him.

"Just saying."

"Thanks," Cara rolled her eyes at that. "Anything?" She turned to look at Spike.

"Nothing." He took her hand in his.

They moved to the next couple of bars and nothing. Angel had a feeling this may take a little longer than expected. Spike followed Cara out of the bar heading outside with her. They waited while the other's caught up. Buffy came outside seeing Spike and Caraline standing there. Spike leaned in kissing her lips a moment looking at her.

"Come on you two," Buffy said walking past them.

Everyone else caught up with them as they passed the graveyard. "Oh look a group of vampires," Cara said seeing them.

She let both Buffy and Faith fight them. "How do we know which one?" Buffy asked Cara.

"If he doesn't turn to dust when you stake them. They both fought them off seeing them wither to nothing. Cara spotted one jumping the graveyard fence going after them. She knocked him down getting up he got back up and Cara punched him across the face. She grabbed a stake on the ground staking him. Then had him chase her past the graveyard. She grabbed a small bottle of light fluid she filled throwing it on him lighting a match throwing it at him.

"Makes sense," Buffy said watching her.

Cara stood there trying to catch her breath "That is how you kill them, the fire will go out as soon as they are dead. Any questions?" Cara asked both girls.

A vampire came up behind Cara and she turned quick enough kicking them. She shoved them Buffy's way and she staked him. "I kind of miss this," Buffy replied.

"Kind of?" Angel looked at her.

"Thanks to Spike I just started," Cara looked at him.

He smiled at her a little as she looked at him. Spike walked towards her taking her hands in his. Angel started to understand Cara's love for Spike. They had that bond with each other that he had never really had with any woman due to his circumstances. Everyone headed back to Angels place seeing they had no luck tonight.

They all sat around talking to one another. Cara felt Spike's arm around her waist. "I hate feeling like this," Cara looked at Spike.

"Like what?" He looked at her.

"Like I feel out of place or something," she hesitated.

"You're not," he assured her. Spike had her go to the other room to talk. He shut the door behind them, so he could hear her.

"I'm scared, for the first time in my life. I'm afraid of losing you, my brother. I don't mean to sound mushy but I don't know what I'd do without you. My dreams really scare me making me think something is going to happen." Spike held her pulling her close to him.

"You're strong, I will help you get through this my love. No matter what you do, you manage to get through things. I've seen what you're capable of doing which amazes me. Everything you've done for me or anyone else shows me you will go out of your way for them. You're willingness not to give up on me makes me love you even more. I love you because you don't care what people think. It's not about money or things, love is real with you. You've show me that again." Spike explained.

Tears filled her eyes after hearing his words. His hand rubbed along her face leaning in kissing her. "Thanks for keeping me going," Cara said holding him.

"It's Dru, she followed us here," Cara said sensing her.

"You can sense that? Only vampires can do that, slayers sense when they are near by not when they are all the way in the other room." Spike said surprised.

"Vampire DNA remember?" She reminded him. "Can you sense me near by like other vampires?"

"I always have."

"Things are changing, I can feel it." They walked out front where everyone was talking.

"What is it?" Angel looked up at her.

"I'm changing," Cara looked at Angel.

"What is she talking about." Buffy asked Angel.

"I was injected with vampire DNA, it made me stronger. I stayed in a mental facility because of who I am thanks to my mother. Someone switched the shot injecting me with that instead of a sedative." Cara explained.

"So it's turning you," Buffy questioned her.

"Not completely, but I see well at night, I'm sensing things. The only thing I don't do is drink blood and I'm still alive."

"Will it increase your life span?" Angel questioned her.

"I don't know, it's probably why Spike is so attached." Cara teased him.

"Maybe," Spike agreed with her.

"Thats just nuts, why did they do that to you?" Faith asked.

"According to the guy that did this to me, I was a test run. If it was successful he was going to find other slayers," Cara explained.

"Did he ever find anyone?" Buffy asked her.

"No, he never got the chance to make more. I was sixteen when I got it."

After a while, Cara and Spike went home. She threw her stuff on the couch going into the bed room. She had him leave the lights off figuring out how well she could see in the dark.

"I can see you really well," she walked towards him.

He approached her getting close, she pulled him close leaning in kissing him. Their clothes went on the floor as they kept kissing. Spike removed the last of her clothing tossing it on the floor. They made love allowing their moans fill the room which was more her than him.

They did lot of things to please each other. This lasted a while until they found their release. She snuggled up to him playing with his hair. "I think me being part vampire may bend the rules," she looked at Spike.

"That's one thing we have in common love, we don't follow the rules," Spike said moving closer to her.
