Brett slowly woke up, his eyes were sore. He could feel the headache approaching from the stress he went through yesterday.
But he's to tired to move, so he just snuggles back into his bed. He lays there in the warmth, he feels content, happy. But why?
Even with his headache approaching fast, one scent calmed him down. The smell of cinnamon and vanilla, a small smile appears as he tries to open one eye.
Once he does, he's met with beautiful caramel skin and dark hair sprawled out on his chest.
He was currently on his back, blanket bunched at his hips. The girl he's dreampt of being with, lays on his chest. Her arm resting over his abdomin as her legs are intertwined with his own.
She's basically laying half ontop of him, but why would he hate that? If anything it makes him the happiest he's ever been.
He looks down to take in their different skin tones. The way her smooth darker skin goes perfectly with his. He admired her figure which seemed to mold perfectly into his, like it was meant to be.
He glanced from her relaxed face down her back, over her butt which he was so tempted to touch, then down to her smooth legs. His eyes widend when he noticed what she was actually wearing.
She was wearing one of his shirts, it was black with a picture of the band Queen on it. She also only had a pair of his Scooby-Doo boxers on.
Brett was shocked he hadn't noticed her attire last night. He giggled to himself as he realized his boxers were pretty funny looking.
He looked back to her face which was squished into his bare chest, large pink lips slightly open as she sleeps. Usually without the blanket on, he would feel cold. But having her warm body above his, he felt like he was on fire.
He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, watching as a small smile appears from the action. She cuddles further into him. He can't help the way the corners of his mouth curve up. His heart swells and he cant help the way he gets excited.
"Brett, its cold." Santana mumbles as she squishes her face further into him if possible. He looks down remembering the blankets were pooled at his hips and just under her butt. With one hand he reaches down and grabs it, pulling it up and over their bodies. She hums from the warmth, tightening her grip on him.
"Thats better." She says with her morning raspy voice.
"Morning." Brett says as he looks down to her.
She looks up smiling, she leans up giving him a soft kiss. "Morning."
"How did you sleep?" Brett asks as he lightly traces his fingers up and down her arm.
She hums from the feeling. "Great, your really comfy." She moves her hand thats wrapped around his torso to his chest, dragging her finger back and forth on his sternum.
"I thinks its the best I've had in months." He admitted as they lay together admiring eachothers presence.
She leans up on her forearm, looking down at him. "Im sorry." She says giving him a weak smile.
"No its not your fault." He sighs out as he moves his hand to her face, moving a strand of hair behind her ear. "When did you put these on?" He asks as his hand moves down to her butt, pulling the elastic band away from her skin then letting it snap back into place.
She giggles as he starts to tickle her sides.
"Hey! That tickles." She keeps giggling. "I put them on last night when I changed. I didn't feel like wearing my dress. Too tight."
"Well they look good on you, nice selection." He comments as he pats her butt.
"Thank you. They are really comfy, no wonder you wear these." She started to move her legs back and forth between his, loving the feeling.
"Yea.." He drawled out as his happy moments start to get crowded with his thoughts. "I think we need to talk." He quietly says causing Santana to look up to him worried.
Brett sits up against the headboard, Santana following him. "Okay, about what?" She asks.
"Well, I- I have a lot more to tell you, stuff I didn't get the chance to say last night." He looks down to his hands in his lap. Santana looks to him concerned.
"I dont really know how to say this, but, the reason I'm scared to be with you, its becuase of my dad."
"Brett, I told you last night-"
"No San." Brett interupts her. "Its different. My dad hates me, he blames me and my siblings for my moms death. If he knew we were together, im afraid of what he might do. He's sent people to watch me, to threaten me. If he knows- im scared to think of how far he will go to hurt you. He will know hurting you would hurt me, and that's his life goal. To hurt me as much as possible."
"Then he doesn't find out." She says grabbing his hand.
A frown appears on Bretts face. 'Does she not want to be with me?' He thinks to himself. "San, I want to be with you."
Santana notices his mood change and a frown appear. "No, I- what I'm trying to say is, he won't find out. We can hide it from him. You rarely see him, so we just gotta be careful in public."
Brett looks up to her still confused. "Like a secret?"
"Yea, just for a bit."
Brett thinks about it then nods. "Yea, actually he's supposed to show this week for money. I'll tell him he can't come back, I'll scare him away. We can do this, hide us."
"We can do it." She repeats.
"Just for a bit. Maybe two weeks? A month?" He asks.
"I dont care how long, I just wana be with you." She says as she hugs him.
Brett pulls her close and closes his eyes. He never knew he was missing something. Holding her, he feels complete.
"But, we need to hide from everyone then. No one can find out, it will only make things difficult. Last thing I need is Puck showing up here threatening me. Plus I just got on good terms with Sam and your brother." Brett says as he pulls away from the hug, both his hands placed on her shoulders.
"Im still mad at them for that." She grunts out crossing her arms over her chest as she sits beside him.
"I know, but I forgave them, I can't hold grudges. Life is too short to be mad at those you love." He says as he moves her hair behind her ear. She smiles from the action but emedietly frowns.
When Bretts notices, his smile also turns into a frown, but also concerned. "Whats wrong?" He asks.
"Im sorry. For how I treated you last night. I was drunk and hurt, I didn't know Tina was taking me to yours, I asked to go to Quinns but she brought me here. I- I just feel so guilty for how I treated you." She looked down to her hands shyly. "And, I apologise for seducing you, and for literally kicking you out of your bed. And for hitting you-"
Brett cuts her off with a kiss. When he pulls away, she looks up to him with a small smile. "Its okay. I just hope you will forgive me for treating you like shit and making you hurt. I'm a tough guy, I can handle some rough play. But I do have to say, your very good with teasing." He said with a big smile as he grabs her waist and pulls her into his lap, her back resting against his front.
She giggles when he starts to tickle her again. "Hey, stop that!" She laughs out as he rests his head on her shoulder blades.
"A clean slate. From now on, no hurting. Just love and happiness." He says giving her a soft squeeze.
Santana just nodded as she placed her hands on his which were resting on her stomach. "Yes please." She turns in his hold and starts to slowly kiss him.
Both were enjoying the kiss until they got scared half to death.
"BRETTON PIERCE! YOU BETTER GET YOUR ASS UP HERE RIGHT NOW OR THERE WILL BE FUCKING HELL TO PAY!" Was screamed from upstairs.
The two jumped away from eachother.
"Shit!" Brett hissed as he quickly got up and put a hoddie on.
"Why is Julia so mad? What did you do?" Santana asked as she also quickly got up. Brett tossed a pair of sweats and a sweater to her.
"Put those on! They can't know remember? You got dropped off drunk, you cried like usual and we slept." Brett said in panic as he tripped over a pile of shoes.
"Hey!" She said as she playfully slapped his arm. "I dont always cry!" She tried to object.
Brett just laughed as he shrugged. "Come on, you seem to always come over drunk and cry in my room." He gave her a 'you know I'm right' look.
"Fine! Sorry Im usually an emotional drunk." She rolled her eyes as she put the clothes on.
"BRETTON! NOW!" Julia yelled again.
"Your in trouble, your in trouble." Santana teased in a sing song voice. She walked up to him and poked his chest while laughing.
Brett just grunted and quickly grabbed her, spinning her around a bit. She squealed as he started to attack her neck with kisses.
"Okay, okay! Let's go see how much shit your in." She said leading them up the stairs.
"Ugh, fuck me." Brett groans quietly. He knows exactly why she's mad.
Once they reach the main level and walk from the living room to the kitchen, they can hear voices. Once inside the room, they see Ty, Kyle and Lily sitting at the table eating. They both look to the right to see a fuming Julia.
"Bretton I'm so going to kill you- Oh hi Santana, I didnt know you were here." Julia said angerly at first but then finished the sentence in a calm voice.
It was like a switch went off. As soon as the kids heard Santanas name, they all turned and screamed as they ran to her.
"San! I missed you so much." Lily said hugging her first.
"Sanny!" Ty screamed as he joined in the hug.
"San! San! San!" Kyle chanted as he was not far behind Ty.
"Hey guys." Santana bent down to get a better hug. "I missed you all, have you been good?"
"The best!" Ty screamed.
"When did you get here? How long will you be staying" Lily asked excitedly.
"I crashed last night, and I have no clue. It's up to Julia." Santana says looking up to Julia who was now smiling at her and the kids.
"Hey where's my greeting?" Brett asks with a big smile as he opens his arms expecting them to run over to him next.
But they didn't move from Santana. In fact they just stared at him. "Na uh, Julia is mad at you." Lily said as she crosses her arms over her chest.
Brett stood frozen from the shock. Did she deny him a hug?
"Yea im mad. Care to explain this hole in the wall? Or did it just magically appear over night?" Julia said In a firm tone as she pointed to the wall with the hole."
Santana peered further into the kitchen and looked at where Julia was pointing. Her eyes poped open at seeing the rather large hole. She quickly looked back to Brett with a shocked and concerned look.
"Jules, I'll fix it. Just drop it." He says as he moves to the table to sit down. "Whos ready to dig in?" He asks to the kids.
They all jump up cheering as they take their seats. Santana just gives Brett a pointed look as she walks to sit next to Julia.
"Hey what's with all the screaming- San?" Quinn said as she came down the stairs to see the last person she would expect to be here.
"Hey Q." Santana said hesitantly. She forgot about last night, how Quinn saw he run out, saw her upset. Shes defanetly going to be asking questions.
'Oh fuck, how am I gonna make a lie to Q?' Brett thought.
Quinn slowly walked in and studied both Santana and Brett. Eyes squinted as she waited for one to crack.
"Hey Q, breakfast?" Brett asked to hopefully steer her mind from those questions he knows shes thinking of.
"Yea." She slowly says as she sits beside Santana.
"Brett you better have that wall fixed by next week. I'm serious!" Julia snapped as she also sat down.
"Got it, I will. Promise." He said as he started to grab pancakes.
"When did you get here San?" Quinn asked.
Santana went to respond but Lily beat her to it. "She slept over. I think she's gonna hang out for the day."
Brett and Santana look nervously from Julia to Quinn. Quinn just stares at Lily as she processes the new info.
"So you slept over?" Quinn asked as she pointed to Santana. "Where?"
"B's room like usual." Ty said before stuffing his face with Nutella and strawberry covered pancakes.
"You slept in his room?" She slowly asked Santana again.
"Uh, I-" Was all Santana could say.
"Quinn, Tina dropped her off last night. She was drunk, and you weren't at home. We're okay, I apologized." Brett said trying to stop Quinn from further interrogation.
"Apologized? For what?" Julia asked aslo eating her pancakes. "Did you yell at her again?" She asked angerly.
"B! You said you wouldn't upset Sanny anymore!" Lily shouted upsetly.
"You hurt Sanny?" Ty asked confused.
"No! No, I didn't hurt San, and no were not arguing." He clarified with everyone. "She just heard me say something and it hurt her feeling that's all." Brett tried to not look Santana in the eyes as he spoke.
"Yea then you punched the wall." Quinn mumbled out under her breath.
"What?" Santana asked concerned.
Brett looked up to Santana who had concern all over her face.
"Lets talk about something else!" Brett said while clearing his throat. "Julia, your babysitting tonight, remember?"
"Hey are you actually okay?" Quinn whisperd to Santana as everyone spoke.
"Yes, he apologized about it. We're back to being friends, its okay. I'm okay." Santana whispers back to Quinn. Quinn just nodded in response, she didn't fully believe the two, but she wasn't gonna pry further into the topic.
"Oh shoot, I forgot. I made plans with Vicky." Julia said sadly.
"Come on Julia, I told you yesterday!" Brett said in a frusterated tone. "I have to work, that means we have no one to watch the kids."
"I know I'm sorry, I just wanted to hang out with my friends before Tuesday." Julia said guiltily, looking down to her plate.
Bretts frustration left emedietly at her excuse. His upsetting thoughts from this morning returned at full effect.
"I can stay. I don't mind, plus I miss these two." Santana said as she smiled to Ty and Lily.
"Yes!", " Please, please, pleeeeeeaaassee!" Was shouted by the two youngest pierces.
"Are you sure? I don't want to impose." Brett says as he searches Santanas face for any hesitation.
"Yea im sure, it's Sunday. I have nothing else to do." She replies with a smile.
"You know I would B, but Kyle has an appointment and the parents are home tonight. We have to make an appearance before they leave again." Quinn said.
"Their home? Are you gonna be okay seeing them?" Santana asked concerned.
"Yea, what if they find out" Brett asked, a little hesitant while referring to the baby.
"Its not noticeable yet, don't worry. Plus we have to show, or they will be upset. We'll be fine." Quinn reassures her two best friends.
"Okay, good." Brett sighs out looking from Quinn to Santana. "I guess your on babysitting duty then."
The two youngest Pierces jumped in excitement. "Yesss!" They both cheered out.
Santana smiled to them. "Were gonna have so much fun." She says also excited.
Quinn gives her a confused look. She's only seen Santana like this with Kyle. Otherwise, the girl hates kids. And when she says hates, she means 'running them over with her car' kind of hate.
After Breakfast, Quinn and Kyle parted ways for Kyle's appointment. Ty and Lily were sad, they had grown fond of the two other blondes. Julia also left to go hang out with her friends. If Bretts being honest, he's happy Santana could watch the kids so Julia can go act like a kid. Do things he never got the chance to do.
It was 4:15pm, Brett was just about to leave for work.
"Okay, you have mine and Julias number. On the fridge is the dance studios number as well. I left money on the counter for dinner, please don't spoil them. I should be home around 10." Brett rushed out slightly in panic. It's not that he didn't trust Santana. Its just that she doesn't have younger siblings, expecially two under the age of 8. Plus Quinn had 5 years of experience with Kyle, he knows Quinn can handle them. He's nervous Santana will get annoyed and not like them. Although he knows Santana would never be rude to them in any way.
"Brett, I've watched Kyle before. I can do this okay?" She said grabbing his hands to calm him down. He nods as he releases a sigh of relief.
"I know you got this."
Santana looks back to see the kids in the living room watching The Lego Movie, she turns back to Brett and pulls him into the kitchen for some privacy.
"I promise to call if something happens." she says with a soft voice.
Brett nods again." I know, I trust you. I'm just concerned their gonna annoy you to the point you won't wana come back."
Santana laughs at his comment. "Seeiously? Their amazing, so much fun to be with. Plus you cant get rid of me that fast." She says with a smirk.
"Get rid of you? When I just get you, never." Brett playfully replys as he wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her close. They stand in the kitchen shuffling back and forth in a slow dance.
Their hugging, Santana has her arms wrapped around his neck while she rests her chin on his shoulder. Brett had his chin on the top of her head.
They continued to just dance slowly, both enjoying the comfort, something so simple. Santana was looking behind Brett when she spotted the hole in the wall. She pulled back from the dance with a raised eyebrow.
"Sooooo, what's with the hole in the wall?" She asks pointing to it.
Brett turns to look at it and turns back to her with a guilty look. "Installing a window?"
Santana tried not to smile or laugh, but she couldn't hold it in. "B! The wall is in the center of the house. Why would you put a window there?" She laughed out.
He just blushed as he scratched the back of his neck. "Right, yea."
Her laughing died down, she looked up to the nervous Boy. It only made her curious. "What happened?" She asked with a more serious tone.
He looked to her, then the wall, and back to her. "Well long story short I punched it."
"Obviously B, but why?" She asked, she heard what Quinn said at dinner, she was really curious to see what he would say.
Brett grunted frustratedly, he knew she wouldn't let this go. So he manned up and just told her.
"Okay, after you left. I got angry that you heard what I said. I dont remember it fully, but I remember pulling my fist out of the wall and Quinn getting upset." He shyly looking up to her face. It was blank at first but filled with emotion.
"You punched the wall becuase you were angry? That I heard?" She softly asked.
"Yea. I was confused and Quinn was hounding me about how I told her I liked you but was now going out with Marley. She was pushing me about the date. And after we saw you, my heart broke at seeing you so uncomfortable. I got so angry I guess I just, punched it. I basically broke down crying after to Quin-" Brett stopped himself as he noticed he was saying way to much.
He froze with his mouth still open, he looked to Santana unsure of how she was taking all this info.
"You cried" She asked, a small smile appearing.
'This is awkward' Brett thought. He went back to scratching his head. "Uh, yea. I did. Only becuase as soon as I saw the hurt in your eyes, I knew I probably ruined any chance of actually being something with you." He whisperd, afraid the kids would hear.
Santana looked back to the kids, they were still distracted with the movie. She turned and grabbed Bretts cheeks with both hands as she gave him a kiss. Brett emedietly kissed back.
When she pulled away, Brett gave her a confused look.
"What was that for?" He asked.
"For you being you. I'm sorry about last night, I know we said a clean slate, but I feel bad." Santana said with a frown.
Brett quickly bent and gave her lips a quick peck. "Dont feel bad, it was all my fault. I'm just lucky you listend and forgave me."
She smiled up to him in response.
"Okay, well I gotta go. Remember the number to the studio is on the fridge. Money on the counter. I'll be back by 10." Brett said as he walked to the front door. Santana close behind.
He opend the door and turned to look at her.
"Got it. Don't worry, we'll be fine." She says confidently.
"I believe you. Bye guys behave!" Brett shouts to his siblings.
"Bye!" They both reply while still being distracted with the movie.
"Bye." Brett whispers as he steals another quick kiss before leaving.
"Bye." She whispers back as he walks to the car and drives off.
She waits until she can't see his car, then closes the door locking it.
"Okay, what do we want to eat?" She asked the kids, which caught their attention from the movie for the first time.
"Pizza!" Ty chants.
"Yea we can do pizza. We usually get Chinese on Sundays, so we can switch it up." Lily says running over to show Santana their pizza pantflits to order from.
Throughout the 5 hours, Santana did a lot with the kids. They watched another movie, did some arts and crafts, built a fort, played tag and hide'n go seek, baked cookies, and finally ate their Pizza.
At 9 pm, the two Pierce kids were exausted and so was Santana.
"Sanny, can you read to us?" Ty asks as he rubs his eyes.
She had just finished cleaning the house up and getting the two ready for bed. They just finished brushing their teeth and were ready to sleep.
"Sure Ty, what should I read" She asks as Lily pulls her to her bedroom so they could use her bed to lay on.
Ty runs off as both girls get comfy under the sheets.
The girls wait as Ty runs in with a thin book, the cover was blue and it had a baby sitting on the floor of a bathroom, playing with toilet paper. It's was called, Love you forever by Robert Munsch.
Santana smiled when she recognized it.
"I loved this book growing up." She grabbed it from Ty who was hurriedly trying to get under the covers on Santanas other side.
"Yea our mommy used to read this to us growing up. Brett continued to read it so Ty could feel close to her." Lily said as she snuggled close to Santana.
Santana didn't know how to reply, but she fought the sad tears that threatened to escape her eyes.
"Okay, you guys close your eyes." Santana starts as they both snuggle into her.
A mother held her new baby and
very slowly rocked him back and forth,
back and forth, back and forth.
And while she held him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
as long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be.
The baby grew. He grew, and he grew,
and he grew. He grew until he was two years old, and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the books off the shelfs. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator and he took his mother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, "That kid is driving me CRAZY!"
Santana continued to read the book as she started to hear the soft sounds of the kids snoring. She continued to read until it was the last page.
Then he went into the room
where his very new born baby daughter
was sleeping. He picked her up in his arms
and very slowly rocked her back and forth,
back and forth, back and forth.
And while he rocked her he sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be.
She sang the final part softly as she closed the book with a yawn. She looked down to see two sleeping kids, one on each of her sides. She looked over and noticed it was now 10:15 and Brett was not home yet. She placed the book down on the side table and leaned back, closing her eyes.
Reading that book made her very emotional. Remembering it from her childhood, it was just an ordinary book. But to these kids, that was a book their mother read them every night. It makes her sad how their mom isint around for them. It makes her more sad when she takes in the words she reads.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be.
She again trys to stop the tears from falling. She can only picture their mother singing those words to them, meaning it all. Brett must struggle to read this book, he was the first born and probably heard it the most.
She didn't notice she was falling asleep until her sad thoughts turned into happy dreams with herself and the Pierce kids.
Brett walked into the house at 10:30. His class ended late and he had to close up. He received a text from Julia saying she was staying at her friend's for the night.
He walked into the kitchen to see a plate full of cookies. Brett walked over and helped himself to them. He went through all his unread messages, reading a few from Quinn. After answering them, he proceeds to look for the Latina. She must be around here somewhere.
He walked upstairs to the kids room, walking into Ty's first. When he didn't see the kid, he started to worry. He rushed into Lily's room and stopped. A huge smile appeared on his face at what he sees.
Santana was laying on her back, 100% passed out. Ty on one side, Lily on the other. Both snuggled into her, she had her arms wrapped around them in a protective manner. He was glad they were okay and sleeping.
He walked towars them about to wake Santana up. He noticed the book on the beside table. Sadness filled his head and a weak smile appears as he grabbed the blue book. He hadn't read it in ages.
He walked over to Julias bed and opened the book reading the first page. The further he read, the harder it was to keep his tears in. He missed his mother so much. He was not ready for Tuesday, since it was the 6th anniversary of her passing. The difficult part was that it's also Ty's birthday. It was hard for Brett to morn his mother when his youngest sibling was born the same day. How an amazing life was taken from this world, but an angel was given.
Brett would never wish otherwise, what happend happend. He still struggles with it, even after 6 years. Maybe this one won't be so bad.
Brett placed the book down and moved to wake Santana up. His phone vibrated which stopped his actions.
He quickly took his phone out and looked at the new message. It read:
From Unknown number: Hello Britty. I have to say I thought I warned you to stay away from Santana. I saw you at the mall with her yesterday , guess you'll need some more 'convincing' to stay away.
Another two messages appeared, both were attachments.
From Unknown number: Attachment
From Unknown number: Attachment
Brett clicked the First attachment. 5 pictures loaded onto his phone. They were all of him from the locker room on Tuesday, all of his body coverd in bruises.
He started to panic and clicked the second attachment which was a recording. He pressed play and listened to it.
"What if the guy who attacked you is back? What if he broke in? I mean he dragged you from your house right?"
Brett noticed this voice, it was Mike.
"Wait stop, its not. And even if it is, you can't call the cops." Was that Him?
"Why not Brett, whoever attacked you almost killed you!"
Brett's eyes poped open when he noticed that this was the conversation he and Mike had the past Thursday. But how did Puck get it?
"Its a long story okay?"
"You know who it is. Tell me."
"Fine, but dont tell anyone. Got it? It was my father, long story short we moved here becuase he did illegal stuff in LA. And he is an abusive asshole, he out smarted me last weekend."
"Y-y-y-your dad? H-he beats y-y-you?"
"Yes Mike, my life isint all rainbows and unicorns. I have no mom, and my dad abuses me. And only me if your wondering, I never let him touch my siblings. He doesn't even live with us. The other night was the fist time I have seen him since we moved here. He always come looking for money."
"You know I'm here for you, right? And just like Quinn I can stay and help out. I'm sure Katie would love the 'sleepovers'."
"Thanks man, that means a lot to me."
"But why not just finially call the cops on him?"
"Im almost 18, I have just under a year and a half, then I'm gonna adopt my siblings then do all that cops shit. I have enough evidence on him to be put away for years. But I have to focus on the kids. They need me."
The recording stopped and Brett stood their frozen. Holy shit! This is not good!
His phones buzed again and he looked down nervous. He received another message.
From Unknown number: You stay away from her or I send this all in to the cops. You'll lose your siblings forever!
Brett couldn't breathe, he stumbled back to Julias bed, sitting down as he processes what just happend. He can't loose his siblings, but he just got the girl he's been dreaming about. This was defenetly not gonna be a good week.
