God of War Revenge part 4
After Calliope told Sophie everything that happened down in the Underworld, the Atlantean warrior was very surprised before she felt very relieved that the Titans were not the evil beings she had always been told they were and that they were going to be getting very powerful allies and hopefully friends in the coming battle against Zeus and the other gods.
Calliope and Sophie then jumped and Calliope used her new wings to get them both across the platforms ahead of them, with Calliope finding and opening another chest before they got to the front of the Palace of the Fates. After seeing the gate in front of them was locked, Calliope found a lever under the right of the ramp and pulled it, making the ramp go down as several undead soldiers and a few cyclops appeared!
While Calliope dealt with the cyclops, Sophie killed the undead soldiers and helped Calliope with the 1 eyed monsters whenever she could until all the monsters were all dead, making the barrier disappear. After opening 2 more chests, the Ghost of Sparta and her future daughter in law saw a handle along the rounded outside wall of the building directly in front of them before they both grabbed the handles and pulled it to the left, rotating the circular room inside the building, releasing them and grabbing other handles to the right to continue spinning the room until an open doorway was revealed.
They then went inside of the Palace into a circular room and Sophie pulled the lever in the very center. The room's walls then started rotating while spikes popped up from the floor in random patterns as Nymphs appeared as well, lobbying projectiles and creating sticky web messes to trap Lady Death and the red-headed Atlantean warrior. Fortunately, it was pretty easy to see the spikes coming and they easily avoided them, and the nymphs died to quick grab attack from the ground. And when they got surrounded, Calliope and Sophie executed their Cyclone of Chaos attack while jumping in the air.
While the room was spinning, Calliope and Sophie took notice of the outside wall and saw a number of small rooms along the perimeter. As the wall around them rotated, they carefully watched the single opening in the gate that eventually matched up with a doorway to the right with a cracked wall. When the match was made, Calliope stepped into the nook and grabbed hold of the cracked wall, pulling it outwards to stop the rotation of the wall, the spike patterns, as Sophie killed the last of the nymphs. With the wall finally stopping, Calliope got into the other rooms and opened the chests in them before they went to the left and saw a small nook with a dead soldier, with Calliope grabbing the Crank Handle before they both left the circular room through the hall straight ahead.
The hall led Calliope and Sophie to an outdoor courtyard with a lot of distractions. After looking around, Calliope and Sophie knew there wasn't much they could do in the courtyard for now, so they headed for the ladder to the right that led to a platform with a missing crank handle. Calliope put the crank into its missing place before Sophie operated it until it stopped, with the Ghost of Sparta seeing that the crank had stopped the nearby set of torches in the distance. But it was only temporarily, for as soon as Sophie let go of the crank, the torches quickly built back their flame. When Sophie operated the crank again, Calliope used the Amulet of the Fates to slow time before she and her future daughter in law quickly jumped to the platform nearby, got past the torchee, with Calliope opened another chest before they got to another hallway and followed it to the end where Sophie pulled a lever, making the gate nearby slightly and temporary open. Sophie pulled the lever again, Calliope quickly grabbed her future daughter in law and threw her past the gate before opening it again and quickly using the updraft coming from the floor nearby and used her wings to get past the gate before it closed behind her. They then went further and encountered some hound monsters and a few undead legionnaires, which they easily killed before Calliope opened the massive door in front of them with her superhuman strength. When the door was open, they went inside and Calliope destroyed the nearby structure, dropping a large stone block from the crumbled wall behind them before Sophie pushed the block past the next doorway. When Calliope and Sophie got to where the block was, the Ghost of Sparta and the redheaded Atlantean warrior entered what was the Auditorium of Lahkesis, looking over to the giant spire miles away.
In the middle of the room was an altar with an open book. Curious, Sophie looked at what the book said as Calliope joined her while Sophie shook her head. "It's written in some... ancient language. I can't read it."
Calliope's frustration grew at hearing that. "Aaaargh! Those damned Sisters of Fate!"
Sophie tried to calm her future mother in law. "Calm down, Calliope. I'm sure that there is some way to know what the words say."
Calliope glanced at her future daughter-in-law for a moment, before she finally gave a nod. "Let's see what we can find, Sophie."
While they explored, they found a man, sitting on a switch. "No! Stay away, please!" The scary man called out to the two female warriors. But as they approached him, the man recognized Calliope. "You. You are the Ghost of Sparta. It was foretold that you would come and that I would help you to translate those..." He stated but then took his words back as he knew what would become of him if he helped the former Goddess of War. "NO! Leave me be!"
After Sophie had placed the block on the pressure pad to keep the gate open, Calliope carried the frightened man to the book as monsters started appearing. While Sophie dealt with the monsters, Calliope grew more angry and irritated as the translator kept trying to lie that he forgot the words, which the Ghost of Sparta didn't believe for a second.
After Sophie beheaded the last monster, Calliope fiercely dragged the translator to read the book. "Read it! NOW!"
Seeing no other choice, the man translated the ancient words. "Hear me, Sisters who control the threads. Another searches for what only the Sisters may give."
Being too afraid, the translator tried to struggle, making Calliope slam the man's head into the book. "Read it!"
Sophie was shocked to see Calliope so angry, but kept her distance while the man kept translating. "As proof that he or she is worthy...," But he then stopped and shook his head widely as he was too afraid to translate the final words. "No, please, no! I cannot do it!"
At this point, Calliope had now lost all temper and slammed the man's head again into the book. "READ!"
The man breathed heavily as he fearfully translated the final words. "Accept this sacrifice... of... my blood!"
Then...without even thinking twice, Calliope slammed the man's head so hard against the book, making it break his skull, killing him!
Sophie was horrified by what Calliope had just done. She had killed an innocent man in anger in order to reach the Sisters. "Calliope...what have you done?"
As the Sisters had accepted the sacrifice, the giant wings that surrounded the spire started to open like a bird. The translator's blood flowed from his body, filling the drawing of the Phoenix on the floor.
Slowly, the reality of what Calliope had done came up to her. As she let go of the dead man's body, she was horrified by what she had just done. She had vowed so many years ago never to kill an innocent person in order to be better than her father. And now... she had broken that vow.
A red mist then appeared out of the man's blood, revealing one of the Sisters. Lahkesis. She smirked as Calliope had performed the necessary sacrifice. " Well done, warrior. With this sacrifice you have proven your resolve to seek out the Sisters of Fate. However, this is but a small step in your quest to gain an audience with us."
As the image of Lahkesis disappeared, Calliope fell on her knees, while holding her hands on her face. "No... no! What have I done? I killed an innocent man... I... promised myself to never become like my father. And now... I broke that promise!" Lady Death started to sob, feeling so sorry for what she had done.
Sophie approached her, comforting her in an embrace, as she saw that it was her blind rage that made her do this. Sophie just kept comforting her future mother in law while saying nothing, as she knew that no words were needed.
After a few more minutes, Calliope got up and hugged Sophie, silently thanking her for her comfort. "Let's go, Sophie."
"Ok, Calliope." Sophie said before they shared one more hug.
They then went to the door on the left and Calliope grabbed the Key of the Ram from the door before opening it and continued through the following halls before returning to the East Auditorium.
After getting back to the courtyard, Calliope and Sophie went to the door with the Ram symbol on the far end and used the Key to unlock it before she opened it and they both went through. After opening another chest, Calliope and Sophie went down the hall to the right, two spiked doors appeared were slowly moving together to crush Lady Death and her future daughter in law as many undead soldiers appeared. Calliope and Sophie then proceeded to kill all of the undead soldiers in the hall, using the Atlas Quake and their Cyclone of Chaos attacks to quickly take out multiple undead soldiers at once and didn't stop until they saw the spiked walls going back up and the soldiers were all dead.
Calliope and Sophie moved further and entered a garden with statues of a few familiar Gods, one representing Athena came to life and spoke. "Calliope. Sophie. You know not what you do. There are things far more important than your revenge."
Calliope and Sophie's fury grew as soon as Athena spoke before the Ghost of Sparta was the first to confront the Goddess of Wisdom. "You've got a lot of nerve trying to contact us, Athena! After what Zeus did to me and murdered the woman of my life and my daughter?!"
Athena signed, trying to explain. "I am sorry for what happened to your family, Calliope. But Zeus did what he had to do to protect Olympus."
Sophie was now more furious than she ever was before. "PROTECT OLYMPUS?! BY KILLING MY DEAR SYLVIA?!"
"Please, listen to me. Do not fall for the lies of the Titans. Gaia speaks nothing but half-truths and falsehoods. The Titans are not to be trusted."
"YOU ARE THE ONES WHO ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED! YOU AND ALL THE FUCKING GODS!" Calliope yelled. "You guys broke your promises... so many times! You and the other Gods are the ones that always speak half-truths and falsehoods! I.. I AM SO SICK OF YOUR LIES, ATHENA! MARK MY WORDS, NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP US FROM SAVING ALECTO AND SYLVIA AND KILLING ZEUS ONCE AND FOR ALL!" She yelled, screaming her lungs out, as she had had enough the constant lying and half-truths of Athena and the other Gods.
Athena kept trying to calm Calliope down. "Calliope, you need to understand. In you, Zeus the destruction of all he stands for-"
"SHUT UP!" Calliope yelled before destroying Athena's statue with her blades before she unleashed her fury, by destroying all the Gods statues, yelling her lungs out! Sophie felt the same anger and allowed Calliope to destroy the statues.
After some minutes, Calliope had slowly calmed down before she looked at Sophie for a moment, not saying anything. Sophie just gave Calliope an assuring nod that she'll stand beside the Ghost of Sparta, no matter what.
After Calliope opened more chests and destroyed the cracked wall, she and her future daughter in law went through the wall, which led to the outside hall with a platform and an endless chasm below. After getting to and opening the chests around the area, the Ghost of Sparta and her future daughter in law found the right path dropped down into a room with a pair of switches.
When Calliope pulled one, torches on the opposite side of the room came on and also made a Siren monster appear. Calliope and Sophie got an idea and while the Ghost of Sparta lured the Siren monster close to another torch and jumped out of the way, Sophie pulled the lever to turn on the torch, burning the Siren alive before it died, making the meter on the door at the end of the room rise before 2 more Sirens appeared but Calliope killed them both using the same tactic, making the meter on the door full before Calliope opened it and they both went through the door and swam through an underwater tunnel before getting to the other end of it, where Calliope opened 2 more chests before she and her future daughter in law followed the hall to a large room with a bunch of frozen patches on the walls.
There was also a climbable section of the wall to the left that led to the ceiling. While Calliope climbed the wall, swinging along the ceiling, she broke the small ice chunks hanging from the ceiling to open up small light holes with her blades while Sophie waited in the center of the room and saw a lever behind the Phoenix statue and pulled it lever, making the Phoenix spew a bit of fire that melted one of the patches of ice along the outer wall of the room. Behind that patch of ice was a movable dish-like statue that Calliope pulled under a beam of light that was redirected by the dish to hit one of the glowing icons in the pit surrounding the Phoenix...after killing a Minotaur.
To the right of the room were three handles, each of which could rotate one of three portions of the ring around the outside of the Phoenix pit. And in place of one of the icons around the ring was a reflective dish that looked similar to the dish statue Calliope had just moved. The Ghost of Sparta then rotated the handles to the right so that the three pieces of this dish icon stopped where the beam of light was hitting, making the beam of light be reflected onto the frozen Phoenix and melting the ice around the statue.
Sophie then rotated the statue around the room in front of the other ice patches and used its fire to melt all of them while also killing another Minotaur that was waiting behind 1 of the ice patches while Calliope open the chests in the room before she and her future daughter in law went through the exit door and into a room with a handle in the very center. A swarm of nymphs then came out from their nests around before Sophie killed them while Calliope destroyed the nest close to them and climbed up to the ceiling and destroyed the nests that were overhead as Sophie killed the last of the nymphs.
With the nests destroyed, Calliope climbed down to the floor and turned the handle at the bottom of the room to drop a grappling point to the left before Sophie got on Calliope's back as her future mother in law quickly grabbed hold of the grappling point as it rose back to its previous position above the ceiling.
After Sophie and Calliope got to the next room, they encountered 2 cerberus breeders, which quickly birthed 2 little hounds each! While Sophie dealt with the little ones by using her blades, Calliope killed the grown ones and the appearing juggernauts by using her Atlas Quake and Rage of the Titans powers until all the enemies in the room were all dead, making the nearby barrier disappear before the Ghost of Sparta and her future daughter in law climbed up the ladder ahead before Lady Death opened up the chests in the area and they moved on.
Calliope and Sophie suddenly spotted an old man near the ancient book. The old man's eyes went wide when he saw the two women and the former Goddess of War. "Ghost of Sparta? It was foretold that you would come. I will not let you reach the Sisters!" He said with fear before he then suddenly ran towards the edge.
"No, stop!" Calliope called out. But it was too late, as the man jumped down to his death, making Calliope grow more furious. "NOOO! That old man was our only way to translate the ancient words!"
Sophie was as angry as her future mother-in-law, but then spotted a strange mirror as she opened the door. "Calliope, look." Before both walked to the mirror, seeing their own image with the old man before he jumped to his death. "This... this must be one of the legendary time mirrors?"
Calliope then got an idea. "I think I get it. We can use this mirror to travel back to the moment before that foolish translator jumps down to his death, so we'll be able to capture him and force him to read the words." She suggested, making Sophie nod in agreement.
Both tried over three times to stop the man from jumping to his death, but every time they failed to grab him. "Fuck!" Sophie yelled, irritated.
But then she thought of something that she spotted in another room. "Wait. I saw one of those statues that you can use the Amulet of the Fates to slow down time. I'll bring it over here. Just hang on." The Atlantean women said before leaving.
While waiting, Calliope thought of how to make the next blood sacrifice. Lady Death felt conflicted, not sure if she was going to kill another innocent man. After another minute, Sophie returned with the same statue, so Calliope could use the Amulet of the Fates. Both nodded to each other before running into the same mirror.
"I will not let you reach the Sisters!" The old translater yelled, but before he made a run for the edge, Calliope quickly used the Amulet, making time to slow down before she ran to the old man and pinned him down on the ground. "Not so fast, you coward!"
Calliope then dragged the man to the book, while he struggled to get free. "Ghost of Sparta, please! You are making a mistake!"
Angry, the Ghost of Sparta grabbed his head, forcing him to read the ancient book "Shut up and read the words!"
The old man nodded and began to translate. "Hear me, noble Sisters who forge our destinies. Another seeks an audience to change their fate..." He tried to free himself again, making Calliope smack his face to the book.
"READ!" Calliope yelled.
"As proof that he or she is worthy...," Then he got scared, as he didn't want to read the final words. "No, Calliope! This will be the end of us all! You must stop!"
Despite the fact that she didn't want to kill him, her anger got the best of her and smacked the old man's face again in the book. "This is your purpose! Now read the final words!"
"O...okay." The man said while trembling in fear, knowing that this was his end. "I... give my blood to illuminate the way."
Calliope was this close to smacking the man's head again to kill him. But then... she stopped and released him before the man ran to the edge and dropped himself down to his death, again.
Sophie was surprised that Calliope let him go while the Ghost of Sparta fell on her knees, sobbing while she shook her head. "I can't do it! I can't do it."
Sophie then sat down and embraced Calliope, knowing that it was too hard of a decision to make, to break her promise again to kill an innocent.
But then, Sophie remembered Lakhesis' words that she spoke as the giant statue. 'One of you will stay behind... performing the ultimate sacrifice, so the other can go on."
Sophie then shockingly gasped, as she realized which one of them it was.
Calliope stopped sobbing and looked at Sophie, confused at what was causing her to be shocked like this. "Sophie? What's wrong?" Before Sophie looked into Calliope's eyes, in a way she'd never seen in anyone before. "Sophie?"
Trying so hard to hold her tears, Sophie looked down for a moment. "I'm sorry, Calliope." She said sadly...before she then suddenly took the Amulet of the Fates and threw it away!
"Sophie?! What are you-" Calliope asked with confusion before she was cut off as Sophie then suddenly grabbed her tightly and threw her backwards to the entrance they came from, sending her flying back and making her hit the wall!
While Calliope grunted on the ground, Sophie then suddenly slammed the door down and used one of her swords to block it!
Calliope ran to the door and asked. "Sophie.? What are you doing?!"
Tears then fell from Sophie's eyes, knowing what she had to do... for all of her loved ones. "I understand Lakhasis' words now, Calliope."
The Ghost of Sparta didn't understand, but then her eyes went wide when she realized what Sophie was going to do.
"One of us... needs to perform... the ultimate sacrifice."
Calliope shook her head heavily, while trying to open the door but was shut tight too tightly, even for her strength. "No Sophie! Don't do it!"
Sophie took a few steps back, and then turned herself and walked to the ancient book while grabbing her other sword.
"Sophie! DON'T DO IT! STOP!" Calliope kept yelling.
While tears kept flowing from Sophie's eyes, she stood before the book. Remembering every single word that the old man translated, she started saying while closing her eyes. "Hear me... noble... Sisters who forge our destinies... Another seeks an audience to change their fate."
"NO SOPHIE! STOOOOOP!" Calliope yelled while using all her strength to open the door.
"As proof... that he or she is... worthy..." Sophie said sadly before she then raised her blade, holding it to her throat while she mentally prayed to the women of her life while remembering their last romantic moment together 2 days after Sylvia proposed to her one and only love.
Flashback
Sylvia and Sophie both took off their towels that covered them, as they stepped together in the large bath that Sylvia had hired just for herself and her lover.
Sophie sighed deeply as she moved close to Sylvia. "Oh fuck yes, I so needed this after we saved those people on Cyprus."
Sylvia nodded, as she and her lover had only just returned after their mission to get rid of some monsters that were terrorizing the people on Cyprus. Sylvia then held her fiance close while she softly said. "It's a pity we couldn't enjoy our 'moment' further before those filthy minotaurs disturbed us."
Sophie slowly stroked Sylvia's waist, while agreeing with her future wife. But what made her more suspicious, was the few Persian scouts they saw on the island.
Calliope had been worried for some time that Persia had been trying to provoke a war since this new king came into power. And after Sophie told what she and Sylvia witnessed, Calliope felt that Persia would sooner or later attack. But where, was still uncertain.
Sophie bit her lip as she still felt a bit horny from their mission on Cypress. And this moment that she and Sylvia shared would be perfect for fulfilling their lustful desires for each other.
She then turned herself, looking into Sylvia's eyes, telling her lover softly and seductively. "At least now, no one will disturb us, baby."
Before Sylvia could answer, Sophie started sucking her lover's breasts, while moving her hand down and fingered Sylvia's pussy slowly, making her start to moan, as she too was still a bit horny and truly wanted Sophie right here, right now.
As the hour went by, Sylvia and Sophie went further then just making out and started scissoring each other in the large bath after eating out each other's pussies. "AH! AH! AH! OH, SYLVIA! I'M GONNA CUM!"
"ME TOO! LET'S... OH FUCK, LET'S CUM TOGETHER!" Sylvia moaned out, wanting to cum with her lover and fiance.
Sophie nodded as she and her lover increased the speed and not long after, both climaxed at the same time, sending their juices into the water before they embraced in each other's arms, lustfully tongue kissing while rubbing each other's butts as they moaned in pure pleasure.
Flashback end
Sophie shed her last batch of tears as she preyed that Sylvia could hear her last thought. 'This is for you... Sylvia.'
"SOPHIEEEEE! STOOOOOOOOP!" Calliope yelled as she had the door nearly opened.
"I... give... my blood... to illuminate... THE WAY!" Sophie screamed out before she sliced her own throat, letting her blood flown over the pedestal!
Calliope slammed the door up, running to Sophie. "NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
As Sophie fell on her knees, her blood filled the drawings of the Phoenix as the Sisters had accepted the sacrifice, making the wings of the Spire spread out.
Calliope grabbed Sophie in her arms. "Sophie! Sophie, no!" Calliope cried before both looked at each other one more time...before Sophie blew her last breath.
A red mist like the one in the first translator then appeared and an image of Lakhesis appeared and spoke. "Calliope, like the Phoenix who is reformed from its ashes, you too search for a 2nd chance at life. Find these ashes and free the Phoenix. Only then will you be able to find the path to the Temple of the Fates." She said tauntingly before disappearing.
Tears fell from Calliope's eyes while she still held Sophie's lifeless body. "Sophie... No! Oh, please... please! Why did you do it!? WHY?! Why?"
Calliope held Sophie close in her arms for a long time, while crying her tears out, for she had now lost another person that was dear to her, only so she, the Ghost of Sparta and Lady Death, could reach the Sisters.
After hours of mourning, Calliope then slowly let Sophie's body to lie on the ground while the Ghost of Sparta vowed. "I'll save you from this fate, Sophie... I will change your fate too... I promise." Before she then planted a final kiss on Sophie's head before closing her eyes and taking Sophie's bow, knowing that she would need it.
Calliope stood up, while looking at the spire where the Temple of the Fates resided as her sadness for the people she lost was now replaced by rage! "Just you wait, you Sister bithes! I will change my fate and the fate of the ones I love! I SWEAR IT!" She vowed before going to the door on the right, grabbing the Warrior's Skull key that was in it before opening the doorway and continuing to the next hall.
After getting to a crank with a bit of steam pouring out from underneath, Calliope turned the crank clockwise and more steam came out, letting use her wings to get up to the small alcove along the wall. Inside the alcove was a lever that, when she pulled it, temporarily increased the steam flow even further before Calliope then dropped back down to turn the crank clockwise again. With the steam at full power, the Ghost of Sparta rode the updraft to the ceiling before scaling it leftward with her blades while destroying a pillar before she got to solid ground and dropped down and got to a round room ahead cranked the handle in the center of the circular room to drop the platform she was on. With the platform lowered, Calliope then glided down to the courtyard ahead, getting back to the open courtyard.
But when she did, 2 cyclops appeared to stop the Ghost of Sparta but she drew upon her Titan Rage and easily killed them with her blades before going to the other locked door and using the Warrior's Skull key to unlock it before opening the door and going through it.
Calliope then went straight ahead into a circular room with a large chain in the center that she began to push up to lower the platform before the skeleton warriors came to life and a ceiling with spikes began to slowly come down! After Calliope quickly dealt with the skeleton warriors, she quickly resumed her work on the massive chain before finally getting to the bottom and quickly opened the door and got out before the spikes could impale her!
After finding and opening some hidden chests, Calliope continued forward and came to a horizontal rope with a few undead soldiers on it before she jumped onto the rope and took care of them before moving forward. As she moved forward on the rope, some archers cut the rope with their arrows before Calliope dropped down to a platform and got to where the archers were and quickly killed them before some Gorgons appeared, trying to turn her to stone but Calliope used her Fleece to deflect the beam back at them before quickly destroying them all!
The Ghost of Sparta then climbed down to the platform she was on before going to a climbable wall section to the left. As she climbed up on the wall and began scaling the ceiling, she got to the other side and killed a few weak soldiers before getting to large rooms made of two circular halls that were filled with lava, causing thermal updrafts in certain key spots. Calliope jumped out and glided down the hall to the right, catching the updrafts to continue forward and when she reached the second room, the ghost of Sparta took the hall on the left to continue riding the updrafts. After opening another chest, she quickly got to the exit platform and got to the Phoenix Chamber, seeing an urn on her upper left.
"The ashes of the Phoenix, Calliope. Only fire will set him free, my friend." Gaia spoke to her friend sadly, also feeling great grief for Sophie's sacrifice.
Calliope then read the book ahead, making a lever appear before she jumped over the lava to reach a landing to the left, killed the skeletons that revived, and then moved into the following hall to fight and killed a legionnaire captain before getting into a large room and at the entrance was a statue. Calliope grabbed hold of the statue and pushed it into the room and as she stepped into the room, waves of fire rushed towards her and the statue was her only defense as the Ghost of Sparta moved forward and right around the first lip on the ground. Once past the first lip, she positioned the statue just slightly to the left so that it couldn't be pushed back any further while she battled some harpies and a legionnaire captain, avoiding the fire while she was at it until they were all dead and the statue was pushed all the way onto the left of two floor switches ahead. The pressure of the statue then opened a gate behind the source of the fire before Calliope waited for a break in the fire to run to the floor switch on the right, leaving the statue where it was as she got on the right switch before she grappled to the Phoenix Ashes urn. Calliope grabbed hold of the urn of ashes inside of the small alcove before pushing it forward and the floor lowered, letting Lady Death move the urn into a small hole in the ground. With the urn in position, the lever in the next room could finally be used.
After Calliope dealt with a few Hades Minotaurs and skeleton warriors, making the barrier behind her disappear and the lever to come back up, she pulled the lever, making the machine take the urn and put it into the late, reforming the Phoenix and almost freeing the firebird but not completely. The Ghost of Sparta then jumped forward and over the lava, using the updrafts to reach the stairway across the pool with her wings before going up the stairs and killing weak undead enemies as she went before opening 2 chests and pulling the nearby lever on the platform to return to the courtyard.
After unlocking the door behind her with the Hail of Boreas she had gotten while in the Chamber, she went through the door and after opening another chest, Calliope climbed up the chain before getting to the nearby horn, blowing it to free the Phoenix from its fire before it flew at amazing speed, breaking down 2 large statues before going to a fireplace on a nearby platform that Calliope could not cross yet.
After dropping down to the courtyard and jumping onto the shortened column to the right, Calliope jumped onto the taller column to the left, and from that platform she reached a walkway on the palace to her left before opening the door and heading inside. She then pulled the nearby lever, making a climbable wall rise up before she climbed up to the ceiling and scaled it to break the 2 chains with her blades before dropping down and opening a chest from 1 gate and pulling a pedestal out from behind the other. The Ghost of Sparta then pulled the lever to make the wall go down as some undead soldiers appeared that she quickly killed before getting the pedestal to the entrance so that it wouldn't close all the way before pulling the lever to make it to up again before jumping on it and pulling the pedestal inside so that she could reach the chain above her and break it with her blades to make the gate open. Once it was open, Calliope went through it and to the left to find a crank before turning it to raise the columns in the courtyard outside.
Calliope then went right from the crank to find a circular room with a second crank before turning it around until the outer gate matches up with the opening in front of her. As Calliope entered a dark room, a mysterious figure cried out from the shadows. "I have... come too far to fail!"
After a fight against the mysterious warrior, who held his own surprisingly well, Calliope threw both her and the warrior through the window and crashed down to the place where Lady Death had set free the Phoenix. She glared at the man who tried to take her life, with one of her blades still deep in his chest. But then she was shocked to see who this man was. It was the Spartan king Tyndareus!
"You?!" Calliope asked before she pulled out her blade.
Tyndareus couched out some blood and looked at his true Goddess. "M...Milady?"
Calliope then grabbed Tyndareus by the collar, demanding answers. "What are you doing here?! Why aren't you in Sparta!? Why did you leave Sparta unprotected!?"
Saddened, Tyndareus answered. "Sparta... is no more."
Calliope was shocked to hear this, but couldn't believe it. "What!? What happened?!".
With the last strength that the Spartan king had left in him, he told what had happened and why he had come here to the Palace of the Fates. "It... It was Zeus... He came under the cloak of darkness into Sparta. He... suddenly hurled down from the sky in a bolt of lightning. The people cried out for you. They begged for their Goddess to save them. But you did not come... Me and my men did everything we could, but Zeus was too powerful. Within an hour... Sparta was destroyed... all the people, even the Atlantians that you saved years ago and I took them in as honorable Spartans... all... dead."
Calliope shook her head, horrified by the loss of her home city while Tyndareus further told. "It was not only Sparta, Milady... Byzantium... Athens... Crete... Thebes... all were destroyed, all who... worshiped you... as the true ruler of the Gods. I was left with no choice. I had to seek out the Sisters to change the fate of our beloved Greece. Now... you are all that is left... you... are our only hope... Calliope." Tyndareus then coughed out more blood. "I... have faith that... the people of Greece... will live on... through our true Queen of the Gods... the true... Goddess... of war." Tyndareus said before he took his last breath as he closed his eyes, confirming that he was now dead.
Calliope was filled with rage and screamed at the skies. "ZEUUUUUSS! Is this how you face me!? You took everything from me! Alecto! Sylvia! Sophie! AND EVEN MY CITY! Come down here and face me now, you coward!"
Blinded by her hatred for the Gods, a Kraken appeared from the depths behind Calliope. Without fear, Calliope walked towards the beast, but was unable to find the strength within herself to fight and kept screaming at the skies. "I grow tired of the lies of the Gods!" She yelled out before the Kraken slammed at Calliope, but she stood up and kept screaming. "DAMN YOU ZEUS! ATHENA! POSEIDON! ALL OF YOOOOOOU!"
The Kraken then roared so loud that it sent Calliope back, hitting a wall.
Tears came from Calliope's eyes, the Ghost of Sparta having lost all hope. "I... I can't do it... I can't defeat the Gods!"
The kraken then grabbed Calliope and clenched her tightly in one of its massive tentacles before she screamed in agonizing pain, but then saw an illusion where she was standing on a hill that overlooks the burning cities of Greece.
She then saw the spirits of the love of her life Alecto and their daughter Sylvia approaching her. The former queen of the Furies and their little warrior princess looked sad at Calliope, who couldn't find the strength within her to fight back. "I am so sorry, Alecto... I should never have left your side."
Alecto held her cheeks and said softly. "I know, baby. But you have to go on. You're stronger than all of this. I know you."
Calliope shook her head while tears fell from her eyes. "I cannot defeat the Gods."
Sylvia then faced her mother, encouraging her. "You can't give up now, mother! You've come too far to fail now! You are the Ghost of Sparta, the greatest warrior that Greece had ever known. Please... don't give up."
Suddenly, the spirit of Sophie appeared before Calliope, begging her. "You have to fight... for me... for all of us. Don't let my sacrifice in vain, Calliope!"
Then Gaia appeared and told while many other Titans appeared before her. "Victory favors you, Lady Death. You must grab hold on your destiny and command it. There is a war on the horizon and we need you to lead us into battle."
"To what end?" Calliope asked.
"The death of Zeus." Alecto's spirit answered. "If you relent, Zeus will torment you still. He will not rest knowing you live. And when you die, Hades will see that your soul and mine will be tortured for all eternity."
"We know you can do this, mom!" Sylvia spoke.
"Please." Sophie spoke while tears fell from her eyes. "Save us!"
Then, Alecto, Sylvia, Sophie and Gaia summoned the power from the flames of the destroyed cities of Greece and placed them into Calliope.
"Take within you this power that burned all of Greece, my love." Alecto said while she and the other placed their hands on Calliope's chest, giving her all the power of the lost souls of Greece, of Alecto, Sylvia and Sophie. "Let it fuel your rage and avenge all the innocent lives that Zeus destroyed! Fight Calliope! For me, for our daughter, FOR ALL THAT WE LOVE! FIGHT!"
Now filled with the rage of all of Greece, Calliope's eyes opened wide while her tattoo glowed bright red, unleashing her full Spartan Rage! "GGGRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" She roared out before she released herself from the grip of the Kraken and faced the giant beast while holding her blades tightly. "Foul beast! I SHALL SEND YOU BACK TO THE DEPTHS OF HADES WHERE YOU BELONG!"
Calliope then used her new power to attack the tentacle that was wrapped around the column to the left, making it retract its tentacle and revealing a floor switch at the base of the column. Calliope then picked up the dead body behind her and dropped it on the floor switch to create an updraft in the center of the courtyard, which Calliope then used to push herself into the air with her wings before gliding towards the Kraken, attacking with her Rampage of the Furies combo to damage the head of the beast. After taking much damage, the kraken slammed one of its tentacles into the center of the courtyard, causing it to become stuck and giving the opportunity to launch a real attack. She ran to the tentacle and jumped on its climbable surface, climbing upwards and attacking the bulging joint over her head. When the joint was sufficiently battered, the Ghost of Sparta then severed the tentacle entirely, causing the beast great pain! Calliope repeated the process while avoiding the Kraken's attacks until she was able to finally severe a 2nd tentacle, causing the beast more pain before it ate the body of the Spartan King, having figured out how the Ghost of Sparta was hurting it.
But that didn't stop Calliope, as she had just caused the tentacles that were holding on to the columns to slip by using her blades, making the beast fall just enough for Lady Death to pull the nearby lever, extending the bridge to the Phoenix while also finally killing the Kraken by smashing its head into the bridge and the Phoenix's platform!
After Calliope crossed the bridge, it retracted, making the kraken fall down into the sea before Calliope opened 2 more chests and used her blades to get control of the firebird despite it trying to put up a fight at first.
Once Calliope had control over the Phoenix, she flew with amazing speed towards her final destination: The Temple of the Fates. With her mind set on avenging the death of her lover, her daughter, future daughter in law and all the people of Greece, now more determined than ever to have her revenge on Zeus.
