Dani manages an hour and half before she wakes. Trevor is out of bed before Olivia, wanting her to get as much sleep as possible. "I'll go."
He's at the door before she replies sleepily, "I don't think you'll be of much use to her." Trevor looks at her confused. "She's due a feed," she explains and Trevor suddenly understands; Olivia is still feeding her herself.
"Then I'll get her and bring her in here. You are not leaving that bed."
Trevor disappears down the hall and Olivia hears him over the baby monitor. "It's okay sweetheart. I'm here. Hush now. Are you hungry? Shall we go and find Mummy so that she can feed you, eh?" She smiles at the way he speaks to their daughter; he's soft and gentle, warm and caring. She can tell how much he cares for her. She's still smiling when he returns with Dani fussing in his arms. Trevor hands her over as Olivia unbuttons her pyjama top.
"I could do with a glass of water."
"I'll be right back."
When Trevor returns, Dani is nursing contentedly at Olivia's breast and Trevor gets his first view of her feeding their daughter; it's a truly amazing sight. He places the glass down next to her and she smiles up at him.
"You're beautiful," he tells her. Olivia blushes and looks down at Dani. Trevor reaches under her chin and gently coaxes her head back up. When he can see into her eyes once more he reiterates his point. "I mean it."
She blushes again, but fights the urge to look away. "Thank you. I'm not used being complimented in such a way."
"Well you'd better get used to it because I intend to do it a lot more."
