Chapter 33 – Time For Breakfast

"Che?" Ajay could hear the whisper of Octavio's voice. She opened her heavy eyes and sat up slowly. They were still on the sofa in Elliot's living room. She noticed Renee and Elliot passed out behind the bar. It felt like they had slept all day and night. The room was somber as the morning light came in through the blinds. She looked back over to Octavio who was whispering to her, "Let's leave and get some food." Ajay nodded and climbed off of Octavio who motioned for her to be quiet. They collected their clothes but Ajay found it hard to get dressed as Octavio kept kissing her body. She giggled a bit as they were finally dressed. Octavio grabbed her backpack and they left Elliot's apartment.

The air outside felt heavy, almost like it was going to rain. They held hands as walked the streets through the city. Octavio led Ajay to a little family owned restaurant. One of the ones in the city that served chilaquiles. He and Ajay used to eat them when they were children. They both sat in a booth near the back of the restaurant. As they finished eating Ajay watched out the window as it started to rain outside. Octavio laid some money on the table and watched her. Ajay was abnormally quiet as she watched the water stream down the glass of the window. "Che, what's up? You're never this quiet."

She sighed and looked over to him. She leaned her chin into her hand. "Ya know I have slept with Elliot." She paused and looked down, "I didn't want ta tell ya but I don wanna hide anyting from ya." She felt sick to her stomach after she shared this information with him. Octavio stared at her, "Che, I know." She looked up from the table and at him. She was almost shaking and she couldn't speak. She listened as he spoke to her. "Elliot told me everything that has happened with you and him and Natalie." She dropped her hand off of her chin, "Ain't nothing happen with me and Natalie." Her face was pale. Octavio reached over to her and she hesitantly took his hand, "Che, I know. Natalie saved you. Elliot almost let you die. Elliot may be a trickster but he's not a liar. I know nothing happened. I don't care anyway." He squeezed her hand, "What I care about is us right now." She looked into his emerald eyes. "Che, I just want to be with you and only you." Ajay grasped his hand tightly as he spoke. "You told us to figure out a way to get along. So we did. Elliot told me everything. I think maybe he thought it would scare me off." Octavio smirked. "He doesn't know shit about the Silva and Che show."

He reached for her other hand, which she gave him. "After he told me everything I told him he could look at you but not touch. Honestly I don't care that you have been with him. I wasn't there at the time. All of my shit in the past made it impossible for us to have any sort of relationship. But I am here now. I just don't know I could handle him touching you now. But I guess that's still not my decision." Ajay tilted her head away from Silva as tears ran down her cheeks. "Get yourself together Che. What the fuck is wrong with you." She didn't know how to respond to him as he released her hands. Octavio got up from his side of the table and moved to sit down next to her. "What's wrong?"

He was afraid that she didn't want to be with him like he wanted to be with her. His heart sank at the thought. He reluctantly reached for face and felt that her cheek was wet. He paused for a movement and moved his hand to her chin, tilting her gaze to his. "Did I do something wrong?" Ajay shook her head, "Nah Silva. I just never thought I'd see ya again. I have loved ya since we were kids. I just never thought ya felt the same way." Octavio pulled her into him and wiped away her tears. "I have felt the same way about you since we were kids. I am just stupid Che. It took me longer to get here." He kissed the top of her head.

He was afraid to ask her but he had to know. "Che, what now?" Ajay was a bit tense in his arms, "Whatcha mean what now?" Octavio pulled away from her to look directly at her. "Do you want to be with me or do you want to be with other people? I..." He paused and swallowed hard, "I don't know that I could share you with other people but I could try if that's what you really wanted." Ajay looked at the seriousness in Octavio's eyes. She turned her whole body towards him. Her hands made their way to his cheeks then his neck and then rested on the back of his head playing with his hair. She pressed her lips softly into his and pulled away. She whispered to him as she stared into his beautiful eyes, "Silva. I only want to be with ya. I don't need anyone else."

Octavio wrapped his arms around Ajay and hugged her tight. He needed to hear those words from her. He had longed to hear those words from her for almost ever. They had spent so many years together and too much time apart. He was still amazed that after what he had done to her that she still waited for him and wanted him after all of this time. He kissed her gently. "Che, I am sorry for everything I put you through." Ajay shook her head, "Silva I forgive ya. I forgave ya a long time ago." Her eyes started to tear up again. Warm tears stung her face, "I love ya Silva and I only want to be with ya."

Octavio smiled and brushed the tears from her cheeks. "I love you too Che. You're all I need." He kissed her once more before standing up. Ajay followed him, throwing her backpack on. They stepped outside into the rain. "Come on Che, climb on." He kneeled down to let her climb onto his back. She wrapped her arms and legs around him. Octavio latched his arms around her legs and began to run. She laughed, it been so long since they had done this. Maybe when they were kids? The shit that both endured from their families put them in a really bad place. Their only solace was one another. It had always been Silva and Che. When Octavio left she felt like a piece of her went missing too. It was hard to wrap her brain around a world without him. That's why she eventually came here to compete in the Apex games. She wondered if she even still wanted to compete anymore.

Octavio and Ajay spent the better part of the day at the firing range. Some days were better spent shooting targets and practicing tactics. They found that there were some new weapons, weapon hop-ups, and attachments waiting for them. Ajay wondered if Anita knew about them. "Duh, she always knows." Her thoughts were interrupted by Octavio, "Hey Che, we should probably check our phones more often." He held his up and laughed. Ajay went to her backpack and found her phone. She opened a messaged from HQ:

Legends: Wednesday afternoon prepare to leave for World's Edge to tour the arena. Be advised that you will be staying until Sunday night. There will be a party provided for you and the benefactors of Apex on Saturday night. This is a black tie event. Please dress in formal attire for this event. There will be no match this week. Please report to the transport ship on Wednesday at 1pm.

Ajay glanced at the time on her phone. It was already two in the morning on Wednesday. She sighed a little. "I need to get going and pack Silva. You should too." As much as she didn't want him to go she knew that they needed to get ready for their departure. She looked up from her phone to see Octavio right in front of her. She slid her phone into her pocket. "What if I don't want to go home right now Che?" She smiled at him, "Okay, what do ya want ta do then?." Octavio smiled and picked her up. Ajay wrapped her arms and legs around him. He walked towards the elevator, kissing on her neck. Ajay played with his hair as he carried her.

Octavio set her down in a semi shadowed corner next the elevator. Ajay looked around. "You know there are cameras in here." Octavio smiled, "We can't kiss or make out before we have to go?" She giggled and found his lips with hers. They kissed and eventually their tongues met. Octavio's hand made it to the bottom of her shirt and soon it was underneath. He worked his hand up to her breast and he squeezed her hard through her bra. She moaned into his mouth. He smiled as they kissed. She was getting wet. But he pulled away, teasing her, "We should get going Che." He said with a smirk. They collected their things and went their separate ways to begin packing.
