It all went to hell before she even knew it.

And this is how it started.

"Alright, people," Katherine began, clapping her hands to get everyone's attention. Once the humans, witch, warlock, wolves, and an original vampire gathered around in the backyard, Katherine went over the plan once more.

"So, Maddox, Kol, and I will go to the prison world while Greta stays here and holds the fort for us, in case the Gemini Coven comes for a visit. I mean, even though we are behind a cloaking spell, I wouldn't put it past them to come looking for this―" she says, twisting the ascendant in her hands for everyone to see. "I don't know just how much connection this little metal piece has with the coven leader, nor do I know if it will notify Joshua Parker if someone were to use it. But since there weren't any close calls with them for two months now, I wouldn't worry about it."

One of the wolves growled, gaining the vampires' attention.

"No, Oliver―" she interjects, rolling her eyes. "You can't eat him if he comes here looking for the ascendant," Katherine declares, looking at the grey wolf before her. When the wolf cocks his head to the side, as if questioning her decision, Katherine sighs, explaining further, "Because the prison worlds are connected to coven leader. If the leader were to die, the worlds either collapse or merge. In both cases, I am screwed."

"Yes, there is more than one prison world," Katherine answers to Jackson this time. "There's one 1903 prison world that has like 10 of those psychotic heretics. And trust me, we don't want to touch that bag with a 10-foot pole."

Because no matter how badass the heretics were, Katherine doesn't really have any use with them. And one heretic is easy to control than 6. And if she were to get them out along with Lilly Salvatore, there will be Julian and his army to deal with. Which she wasn't looking forward to, honestly. So, yeah. No thanks.

"Alright, can you stop talking to the mutts?" Kol chimes in loudly, "It's weird to watch."

At that, Katherine and the wolves looked at the psychotic vampire, absolutely offended.

"It really is," Greta admitted, with a wince, causing the group to huff.

"Fine," Katherine relented with a huff. She then went back to the matter at hand. "Anyways, as I was saying, once we reach this freaky parallel universe, Maddox will perform a locator spell, and we will send Kai a message to meet us in a day's time if he wants to get out of there."

Katherine cuts herself off, distracted. "I think Kai would definitely know if someone enters his world, though," she says. "But it will take some time for him to find us that way. So, we will just use the magical means. And when we do, meet him, I will explain our conditions, and if he agrees to help us, the four of us will return in the end. And it will be happily ever after for everyone."

"Claps, please," Katherine requested, but none complied, causing the vampire to roll her eyes with a scoff. Ungrateful, the lot of them.

"But what if he doesn't want to help?" Eve questions, breaking the silence.

"I don't think he is dumb enough to miss an opportunity to get out of a never-ending prison and get his hands on magic that is freely given," Katherine shrugs. "If he is, I say let him rot in it for eternity for all I care. But I don't really think Kai's a lost cause. So, there's that."

"Le's hope not," said Hayley with a sigh. And added with a teasing edge to her tone, "Otherwise, the adventures I had with lock picking and the breaking and entering ―all would have been for nothing."

"You were a shit thief," Katherine intervened with a smirk. "The whole time you were whining and moaning about being caught by the police, admit it."

"Psh! I did not," she scoffed, rolling her eyes, her back straight.

"Alright, girls. I am sure you are both brave, doing something very illegal," Eve began in a cajoling tone, "How about we stay on the matter at hand for now, eh."

"Alright ―where was I again?" Katherine muttered, "Yeah, about the spell―"

Just then, the doorbell rang, stopping her abruptly in mid-sentence. "Someone's at the front door," Katherine stated, picking up the sound with her vampire hearing, "Are we expecting anyone?"

"That must be the pizza delivery guy," Eve began, trying to walk past them, but Hayley intervened.

"I got it, Eve," Hayley insisted, good-naturedly. She returned the grimoire, ascendant, and Bennett blood she had been holding onto until then back to Katherine. With that, the brunette left and went to pay for the food in Eve's place.

Katherine didn't think much about it and went back to the discussion. "Okay, so―" she held out the grimoire in her hands to Maddox and Greta, informing them the necessary details. "This is the spell to get us there," she then turned a few pages, "―And this to get us out."

She then looked at them as they both studied the spell over each other's shoulders while Kol decided to inspect the ascendant. "Think you can do it?"

Maddox scoffed, looking insulted, "Of course we can."

Katherine then took out the blood vial and poured a few drops of Bonnie's blood on the ascendant.

"Okay-" she murmured to herself. "We will leave as soon as the rare comet the news guy mentioned passes over us―" she looked at her watch, calculating to herself, "Which will be in over twelve minutes now." She eyed Maddox once again. "Are you sure you took everything you need?"

Just as Maddox was about to nod for the nth time, Kol interrupted them.

"Do you hear that?" he said, lifting his head to stare at his surroundings, accumulating everyone's attention. He stepped forward following the sound, instinctively, handing the ascendant to Maddox as he walked.

"Hear what?" inquired Katherine confused. She listened intently, and that's when she heard them. Footsteps, she realized, multiple.

Katherine and Kol exchanged a glance and nodded to each other silently, agreeing to check out. But before they could even take another step, a group of 5 unfamiliar people stepped into the backyard, and their leader, who looked slightly familiar, was ahead of the group.

"Hello, my name is Joshua Parker," He greeted, looking at the wolves with surprise, and then a look of aversion crossed his face. He then addressed them as a whole, "I believe you have something of mine."

"Don't know what you are talking about," Katherine said, aloud. "Also, this is private property." Joshua looked utterly unimpressed. She then took a quick peep behind him, gritted her teeth before questioning, "Where is she?"

"Oh, your friend?" He said casually, "Sleeping," he replied, adding, "―for now."

He then narrowed his eyes, tilting his head to the side. "A doppelganger and a Mikaelson," he acknowledged them. "I don't know why you require the ascendant," he looked at the wolves behind her, "Though, one could hardly guess. But, quite honestly, I don't care. So, I suggest you just give it back to me, and we will be done."

"And if we don't," Kol asked, already itching for a fight.

And that was the only invitation they needed. Because as soon as Kol said those words, Joshua Parker raised his arms, muttering in an ancient language, and his companions followed his lead, giving him a little extra boost. The wolves were stood rooted to the place, unable to move ―Kol and Katherine groaned loudly, clutching their heads in their hands. This caused the blood vial to slip from Katherine's hands and break as soon as it hit the ground. But the pain had been unbearable, and all the vampires could do was hunch over and cry out when they felt like their brains are about to burst open.

Even as Maddox and Greta tried to help, the two could hardly do anything against the five of them. And all it took was a little flick from Joshua Parker, and they were sent flying backward, landing on the hard ground amidst loud outcries, groaning. However, that tiny distraction was all Katherine and Kol needed to overpower the spell and rush towards the Gemini Coven. But Joshua stopped them just before they could reach for his throat. His eyes hardened even further, and with a little bit of force, he brought the vampires down to their knees.

"Stop it," Eve cried out, watching everything in absolute horror when she heard their bones break. "Stop it, please."

"I have no enmity with the Original Family. But I am not the one to stand down if you covet to force my hand. So―" he began, outstretching one of his hands. "I will ask you again ―The Ascendant."

"Fine," Katherine gritted through her teeth, screaming out. "I will give it to you ―JUST STOP."

At this, the coven leader stopped, deciding to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Kol, however, looked murderous, ready to tear them into pieces. But Katherine caught his hand, silently urging him to stand down. She turned around and ordered the same thing from the wolves. They all huffed and bared their teeth in anger but obliged.

Katherine then walked up to where Maddox and Greta are. They had just been standing up to their feet, still recovering from the injury to their heads. The ascendant was in the hands of Maddox, and thankfully, it wasn't damaged in the fall, landing on the top of the warlock. The grimoire that contained the spell, however, was tightly clutched in Greta's hand.

With her back turned to Gemini Coven, Katherine slowly murmured to them. Her voice was just above a whisper, but the wolves and the Original vampire had heard her loud and clear. "The plan is still on. As soon as you are done with the spell, destroy the ascendant."

Her eyes showed she was serious and wasn't kidding around. Maddox just handed her the ascendant, tapping her wrists as a way of an answer ―to say they heard her loud and clear. Maddox agreed, even when he had doubts on how she would manage to get out without any more of the Bennett blood, nor without a witch to track down Kai when she gets there.

He agreed because he knew the crazy woman, walking away from him, probably has a ton of backup plans up her sleeves. He trusted because he knows Katherine Pierce won't act with half-arsed plans.

With that confidence and faith, Maddox shared a look with Greta. They both prepared themselves to do the spell when it is required of them. It was a short spell, just a few words, "Sanguinem illum acento," and whoever comes in contact with the ascendant either directly or indirectly during that time, will be transported to the prison world.

Katherine then marched back to where the Gemini Coven was standing. Joshua looked at her expectantly, stretching out his hand to take the ascendant from the vampire. However, Katherine retreated her hand out of his reach. "First, I want my friend," she said, stalling. Just two more minutes, and it will be done.

"I told you," Joshua bit out, "She is safe, just unconscious."

"And how should we believe you," Kol asked, stepping forward to stand next to Katherine. "Show her to us first."

The Coven leader seethed but obliged to their demands. He gestured for one of the crones to go and get Hayley after a little thinking.

One more minute.

Katherine signaled for the wolves to be ready, with her fingers behind her back. When they finally dragged an unconscious Hayley, Eve ran to take her into her arms. And they didn't protest with the request when Katherine stepped forward pretending to deliver the ascendant as a way of bartering the key to the parallel world for the Alpha werewolf.

Just at the exact moment, the comet passed over their heads, and Kol suddenly grabbed Katherine from behind, pulling her to his chest before anyone could react. As a group of wolves stepped in front of Eve and Hayley as a way to protect them, a few others pounced forward, trying to take a bite out of the unexpected witches. And in between the surprised shouts, there was a bright light, and the next thing they know, the place Katherine and Kol stood was empty, and the ascendant Katherine had held in her hands fell down and shattered into pieces under the feet of the wolves.

So, that's the end of Act ii. And I still have no idea who will be better suited for Katherine. So, please don't ask me. But, what I do know is that the next act includes the prison world, Kai, cure, and Silas. And Nadia, of course. I have been honestly holding out her for a while now, so she will definitely appear in the next act.

Maybe, hopefully, I will figure out who I will be pairing Katherine with by the end, or if I even pair her with anyone or not. Like seriously, she doesn't need a boyfriend.

Also, I have no idea if I portrayed Joshua Parker correctly or not. To be honest, I skipped his scenes most of the time. The guy was a sorry excuse for a father. So, I don't really know if this chapter came out correctly.

How was it, though, really.
