That Too
After coming back from Barry and Iris's wedding, things are weird between Alex and Kara. I wonder why?
A/N: Alright, Lovelies. Just a little bit of Kalex for y'All. I've been writing a lot of SuperCat lately and I didn't want my Kalex lovers to feel like they were being neglected! Enjoy!
"That was a CRAZY FUCKING DECISION! What were you THINKING?! You could have DIED, Alex! Don't EVER do that to me again!"
Two women... one blonde and one brunette... faced off against each other, hands on hips and voices raised.
"You don't get to make decisions for me, Kara! You're not my mother! Although you sure do act like it sometimes!"
Blue eyes hardened. "Fuck you, Alex! Do you have any idea what it would do to me if anything happened to you?! What if I hadn't made it in time to save you?"
Across the room, Director J'Onzz, Agent Schott and Agent Vasquez stood together with arms folded, watching the women argue. It was like a train wreck. They couldn't look away. Especially when the sisters got in each other's faces and Kara started swearing.
"Yes, I do know, SUPERGIRL. It's exactly the way I feel when you fly HEADFIRST into some dangerous situation or another. Oh, I have a GREAT idea! Why don't I fly a million-ton space prison out of the atmosphere where I can't breathe or fly to be able to GET BACK HOME!" Alex waved her hands in the hero's face. "So, fuck you right back!"
"Ouch," Vasquez winced. "That was a low blow." she chuckled. "Honeymoon didn't last long."
They watched as Kara pulled back completely, hurt etched across her face and shoulders slumped. "Right," she replied softly. Then she held up her hands in surrender and walked away.
Alex's posture slumped too, and she held out her hand towards her sister's retreating cape. "Kara… wait… I…" The hero didn't stop, and Alex shook her head. "Shit."
J'Onn's face was impassive but he looked down for a moment and then approached his second-in-command. "You ok, Alex?"
The agent nodded. "I'm… yeah… just tired. I'll apologize to her later." She turned to leave but he let his hand rest on her shoulder.
"Alex, what's happening between you two?"
"What do you mean?" Alex asked, frowning.
"I know it's only been a few days, but you guys didn't say anything, and you seem to be fighting more since you got back." J'Onn smiled. "I was married for a long time, Alex. I do understand… if you want to talk about it?"
The agent shook her head. "J'Onn, I don't… what are you talking about?"
"Alex," J'Onn chuckled. "I know you and Kara had a bonding ceremony while you were on Earth One. Your mind has been screaming about it every time you look at her since you two got back, to the extent that even I can't block it out. Everyone is thrilled for you. We'd been thinking for a while that your relationship had changed."
Alex's mouth dropped open and she was stunned into silence for a long moment. The director just chuckled and patted her shoulder. "You know where I am if you want to talk," he said as he walked away.
"But… we're… not..."
Xx
Flopping down onto her couch, Kara kicked off her flats and sighed heavily. She tossed her glasses onto the coffee table and let her hair down from its ponytail as she lay back and picked up the remote to flip the TV on to the local news channel.
She was glad that, for once, there were no pictures of her on the screen and she settled down to listen to a story about a local high school student who was lobbying for stricter gun laws. It wasn't long before she heard a familiar heartbeat approaching though and she glanced through the door to see her sister arrive. She wasn't sure she wanted to see Alex. Things had been weird since Earth One. Attending Barry and Iris's wedding had changed something between them. The crisis that had derailed the happy occasion… Finding out that Alex had slept with Sara...
Kara couldn't figure out why that was bothering her so much. At the time, she'd pretended to be happy for her sister but the more she thought about it, the more it made her feel unsettled inside. What was up with that?
She saw Alex walk away but then come back, reaching up to knock but hitting a couple of false starts before finally knocking sharply. Seemed like Alex was worried about talking too. Kara got up and went to the door, opening it and leaning on the jamb for a moment with her arms folded and an eyebrow raised.
The older Danvers just looked down and shook her head. "I know you're mad at me and, Kara, I'm sorry for what I said."
Kara felt the tension drain from her shoulders a little and she stepped back. "Come in. I think we both need a drink."
Alex smiled and nodded. She headed for the kitchen high-top and set her purse down as Kara walked to a cabinet and pulled out two glasses. She poured a couple of fingers of Scotch into one and a measure of a cloudy blue liquid into the other. "Hmmm… the hard stuff," Alex said quietly. "Your day must really have sucked."
They took their drinks to the couch and Kara muted the TV as she sat with her legs tucked underneath her, facing her sister. Alex mirrored her position and took a sip of the amber liquid in her glass.
"I need you to understand something," Kara said slowly. Her blue eyes lifted, full of shimmering emotion in the light from the lamp on the end table. Alex stayed quiet, waiting for the hero to order her thoughts. "Of all the people that I know and love on this planet, you are the one that I fear losing the most. Only losing Krypton can compare to the pain I feel when something happens to you. I got angry today because a decision you made put you at risk. You would have died if I hadn't been there, Alex, and that scared the shit out of me. What if I hadn't made it in time? What if I'm not fast enough the next time?" She reached out and took her sister's hand. "I know I hurt you when I made the decision to fly Fort Rozz into space. I know I didn't give you any choice but that was because there WAS no other choice."
"I know," Alex replied quietly. She squeezed Kara's hand and then entwined their fingers. "I was mad earlier because I knew you were right. You saved me, Kara. AGAIN. You had every right to be angry and I'm sorry."
Kara nodded and then smiled at her sister. "So, we're ok?"
"We're ok," Alex replied, returning the smile.
"Good." Kara knocked back her drink, shuddering a little at the kickback. "Whoa… that's good. I was just about to order some pizza. Can you stay? I found this new movie on Netflix I think you'd like."
Alex scooted closer. "Sure, sounds great but, Kara, there's something I need to tell you first."
"Oh yeah?" The blonde tilted her head in question.
"Yeah…" Alex cleared her throat and scratched the back of her head awkwardly. "Um… apparently, everyone thinks we're married."
Kara frowned. "Huh? Married to whom?" she asked.
Alex smiled sheepishly. "Each other."
"WHAT?!"
Xx
"OOF!" Alex found herself on her back on the padded mat in the sparring ring with a forearm pressed against her throat. "Hey!"
"I'm mad at you," Vasquez stated. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you what?" Alex flipped the other woman over and pinned her in return.
"About you and Kara. Come on, Alex. Seriously?"
Alex shook her head. "Sue, there is nothing going on between Kara and me. I have no idea where this is all coming from. In fact, she laughed hysterically when I told her a couple days ago."
Outside the room, Kara leaned against the wall and sighed. Alex wasn't the only one getting comments. The lady in the cafeteria had given her an extra slice of cake as congratulations at lunch. Not that she'd NOT taken the cake… but still. Everywhere she went, she was getting big smiles and pats on the back.
For a moment, Kara wished she had mindreading skills like J'Onn. She wondered what it was that made people think that she and Alex had that type of relationship. They were close, yes. Very close. But they were sisters, right? Just sisters. Nothing else.
Right?
Kara closed her eyes and tipped her head back, bouncing it a little against the stone wall. She'd been thinking a lot since Alex had told her what people were saying about them. Was it so wrong that she thought that Alex would make a great wife? Was it so awful of her to think that their living together and sharing everything would be a good thing? Was it so terrible to wonder what it would feel like to have Alex come undone around her fing... Her eyes snapped open, wide with astonishment as she pressed her palms against the cool stone at her back and groaned softly
"Kara?" Alex's voice pulled her out of her shocked thoughts. "Are you ok? Did you need me for something?"
The hero straightened and shook her head. "No… um… I was just taking a moment of reflection time."
Alex pursed her lips. "I haven't seen you do that in a while," she commented. "Not since we were kids."
"Sometimes I still need Rao's guidance," Kara replied. She joined her sister as they strolled along the corridor towards Alex's quarters. She didn't use them very often anymore, but she and Kara kept some personal belonging there just in case.
"I get it," Alex replied with a smile. "I'm going to shower. Sue put me through my paces. Want to come in and wait while I change?"
Suddenly an image of Alex naked in the shower made Kara twitch. "I... uh… should probably get going. I'm meeting Lena for dinner."
Alex frowned. "Lena, huh? You've been spending a lot of time with her lately."
"I shouldn't spend time with her?" Kara asked, somewhat defensively.
"Spend all the time you want with her," Alex replied, a little snippily. "Just be careful that people don't think you're married."
"I… I will!" Kara stated before turning on her heel and walking away. Alex got the distinct impression that, had she been wearing her glasses, she would have been fidgeting with them.
The agent shook her head and pushed the door of her quarters open. "What the hell is wrong with me?" she muttered to herself as she went to start the hot water. "It's just Lena."
Xx
"Uhhh… Lena… I'm really flattered... but I can't…"
The LCorp CEO looked down and she eased back, rubbing the red lipstick mark off Kara's lips with her thumb. "I'm sorry, Kara. I seem to have completely misread the signals."
They'd both had a lot to drink but of course Kara was completely sober. "It's ok, Lena, really. You're a beautiful, incredible woman but…"
"You're not interested in women?" Lena asked. "I seem to not be able to trust my gaydar these days."
"No, that's not…" Kara took a breath and let it out slowly. "I just figured out something today and it took me somewhat by surprise… although... did it really?" She pursed her lips and fidgeted with her glasses. "I'm not really sure. Maybe I knew but just didn't realize that I knew… but God, I can't stop thinking about it and..."
"Kara," Lena interrupted the blonde's babbling. "What are you trying to tell me?"
The hero sighed. "Alex and I went to a friend's wedding and some stuff happened. Alex slept with another friend of mine and it was… kinda weird, you know?" Lena just nodded. "Anyway, a few days after we got back, people started congratulating us on our wedding."
"Wait…" Lena held up a hand. "People think that you and Alex got married?"
"Yeah," Kara nodded. "And we've been trying to tell people we're not but I… I got to thinking about things and today I couldn't stop thinking about… you know… being with her…" She watched Lena's eyes widen slightly. "In THAT way," she finished weakly, cheeks tinted pink.
Lena shook her head as she tried to take in the new information. "Ok, one thing at a time. Where did the information about your getting married come from?"
"I don't know. It didn't come from me so the only other person it could have come from is…"
"Alex," Lena finished.
Kara shook her head. "But that can't be right cos she's been telling people that it's not true."
"Hmmm…" Lena replied. "Are you sure you really feel this way about her?"
"I… I don't know… when we were kids and I first lan…ded with... the Danvers family, I had the biggest crush on Alex, but I thought I'd gotten over that."
"Kara..." A shapely eyebrow lifted.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that? I... No... Well..." The hero sighed. "Ok...Yes, I'm sure." Suddenly Kara remembered what had gotten her into this conversation. "Lena, I'm sorry. I'm prattling on about Alex. Are... are we ok? You and me?"
The CEO smiled, putting her own feelings aside to deal with later. "Yes, of course we are. Best of friends, Kara. Always."
They hugged tightly, and Kara smiled back. "I'm glad. I don't ever want to lose you, Lena."
"Me neither. Now, we need to talk about what you're going to do next." Lena crossed her legs and smiled. "You have feelings for Alex."
"I have feelings for Alex," Kara repeated softly.
"Tell her I kissed you."
"What?!"
"Kara, I know you're not deaf. Tell. Her. I. Kissed. You. See what her response is. If she feels something for you, she'll react."
Kara nodded thoughtfully. "Ok, I'll tell her."

Standing together in command ops. Alex and Kara examined the holographic details of the latest attack on National City with Vasquez at the controls. The alien had almost gotten away, so the sisters were looking back over the data in a lessons-learned session.
"There." Alex pointed at a GPS location. "We had a gap in coverage. He must have slipped out there. How was your dinner with Lena?"
"I see, yeah. We need to make sure the team spaces out properly in the future or maybe narrow the perimeter a little." Kara smiled. "It was... interesting."
Sue turned in her chair. "Lena Luthor is so hot." She looked to Alex and caught her swiftly hidden frown.
Kara chuckled. "Yeah, she is. We went to Les Amis then back to her apartment for a drink and a chat. We got kind of... close."
Alex's frown wasn't hidden this time. "What does close mean?"
The Kryptonian shuffled from foot to foot uncomfortably. "We kissed."
"Wait..." Alex lifted a hand, scrunching her nose. "You kissed her? Like... on the lips kissed her?"
"Well, actually, she kissed me but... yeah." Kara was blushing a little.
"Wow." Vasquez shook her head.
Kara sighed but when her eyes moved to Alex's she saw... something... that made her reach out for her sister. "Hey," she said softly as she took her hands. "It was a misunderstanding. I told her I couldn't be with her. I don't have feelings for her... not like..." She trailed off and looked down.
The older Danvers nodded slowly. "Ok..." She let out a long breath and nodded again. "Ok." A small smile upturned her lips. "Good."
"Good?" Kara repeated, eyebrows raised.
"Sorry..." Alex pinched the bridge of her nose and closed her eyes. "I have a headache coming on. Can we talk later?" She turned and walked away, leaving Kara and a very confused Sue behind.
"Huh," Vasquez said, looking at her superhero friend. "What was THAT all about?"
"I think I might know," Kara replied as she started walking, following her sister to her office. She tapped on the door and waited for permission to enter. Alex looked up from where she was seated in her chair and frowned once more but the hero ignored that to move around the desk and sit herself squarely in her sister's lap. "Ok... Alex... we need to talk." The agent's brown eyes widened as Kara cupped her cheek to gaze into them. "But before we do, I'm going to do something potentially very stupid."
Alex swallowed and made a little uncertain sound, but she didn't pull away. Instead, her arms eased around Kara's waist as she gazed back. "Ok..." she whispered.
The hero smiled gently and slowly leaned forward, eyes fluttering shut as she brushed her nose against Alex's and then tilted her head to kiss her. She felt the older woman's sudden intake of breath and then Alex was kissing her back, tightening her arms and pulling Kara closer. It slowly deepened and, without breaking their lips' contact, Kara lifted her body to turn and straddle Alex's lap, facing her. She wrapped her arms around the older woman's neck and kissed her even more deeply, dragging a sensual moan from her as the agent's hands started a slow exploration up her back under her cape.
"Alex," Kara whispered as she eased back a little and pressed their foreheads together, her hands pressed to the sides of Alex's neck. "Are... are you sure this is ok?"
The agent's hand was caressing between the hero's shoulder blades and she sighed softly as they rubbed noses again. "I have no clue what's happening," she murmured. "But please don't stop."
Kara's face eased into a grin and she leaned forward to kiss the older woman again, running her fingers through her hair and gently scratching her scalp. "This feels amazing," she whispered as she nibbled Alex's bottom lip and then tugged on it gently.
The agent sighed and gently slid her tongue against Kara's, humming softly with pleasure. "Yeah," she got out around ragged breathing and the insistent throbbing between her thighs. "It really, really does."
They kissed for a long time and, when Alex thought she might explode with need, Kara eased her hand away from her breast and looked at her with half-lidded, blue eyes. "As much as I'd love to go further with you," she said, running her thumb across Alex's lips. "This is not the place or time."
"Mmmm..." the agent nodded dazedly.
"How's your headache now?" the hero asked, brushing her fingertips between Alex's eyes.
"What headache?" the older woman asked dreamily. She took Kara's fingers and brought them to her lips to kiss them. "I love you," she added. "So much."
"I love you too," Kara whispered in reply. "And not just as a sister," she clarified with a smile.
"Not just as a sister," Alex agreed. She ran her hands down Kara's arms over her biceps. She couldn't stop touching her. "Come home with me?"
"To talk?" the hero asked as she kissed Alex's forehead.
The older woman grinned, flashing neat white teeth. "That too."
