"You... what even kind of a fairy are you?"

"One who is willing to do whatever is necessary!"

With a careful touch, Mandgrova removed the arrow from the wall and caught Mari in her hand. Now that she could see her wing, Mari could only wince. The arrow had tore a gaping hole through her upper left wing. That wasn't going to heal up any time soon. Back in the center of the room, Mandgrova placed the little fairy amidst the pieces of the harp.

"Can you help me, young Martha?"

"Of course granny! What is it?"

"Hold the four pieces together while I handle the fairy. The harp can only be fused back together by fairy magic."

With glee in her step, Martha arranged the four fragments in the order they were meant to connect and pushed them against each other. Holding Mari over the split harp, Mandgrova gave the small fairy a few taps, sending magic dust showering down onto the instrument. The harp reacted slowly to the glowing powder, and soon began to fizzle and crackle. Bit by bit, the four segments began to fuse. Though seemingly made of wood, the harp started to give off a sheen like that of polished stone. Where the colored segments met, the hues blurred together. With a quick burst of light, the four pieces reunited. Now that the fairy harp had become one again, it circulated with a beautiful rainbow of colors. Between the neck and soundboard, strings seemingly made of pure light materialized. Mari could not deny, she had never seen such a beautiful instrument before. Mandgrova seemed lost in joy to see the great fairy harp again complete.

"Oh... wonderful. Simply wonderful!"

"You never told me how colorful it was, granny!"

"Power again at my fingertips! Only one thing left before I can cleanse the valley... you, miss Mari, must play the melody of bounty. Only then will my power return."

"I... I won't. You can't make me! I cannot even fly to play it!"

"Oh, but you will play it. And you certainly will wish you could fly."

Grabbing Mari by her tiny body, Mandgrova proceeded to use her like a pick for the harpstrings.

"What are you- Argh! Ow! That hurts!"

Despite Mari's protests, Mandgrova continued with the song. Though Mari had magic on her side, her power did little to protect her delicate form from being battered against the instrument.

"You say you- agh! -plan to cleanse the valley of- OUCH! - all who have abused the fairies? How about- Hey! -yourself?!"

"If it costs a fairy to save a thousand, then that is what it takes!"

Finished with the song, Mandgrova set aside the now battered and bruised sprite and shed her robe. Mari collapsed against the stone table, injured and weakened significantly. Immediately, the song began to take affect. A magical mist expelled from the harp, encircling Mandgrova, causing her to glow. The aged great fairy's wrinkles began to smooth, and her grey hair began to regain its deep brown color. Atop that, the woman began to increase in size. Even as she reached the size of an ordinary great fairy, however, she still grew. Soon, Mangrova's skin shone so bright, that Martha had to cover her eyes. Even the little girl was starting to worry what she had gotten herself into.

"G-granny? Are you alright?!"

"Ahahahaha! Yes... yes! I can feel it all coming back! Power at my fingertips! Now all shall see my true form!"

With what strength she had, Mari turned to look between the behemoth of a fairy and a terrified Martha.

"Great Hylia... what have you done?!"

Having finally gotten back to Plurbiocris, Link and Saria rushed toward the entrance of the catacombs.

"Hurry, we're almost there! If we're lucky, they still haven't-"

Saria's next words were cut off as the small cottage housing the passageway exploded into the sky. The ground around the house began to crumble as a being of immense size rose from the ground.

"Is that? Oh... oh my..."

Several more buildings shot into the air, flying and crashing down upon the city. What people were around began to panic, and either flock away from the chaos or towards it. Spectators clamored over what the strange being emerging from the ground was.

"What is it?"

"It's a giant goron springing up from the depths!"

"No... no, it's a lady!"

Now fully emerged from the ground, Mandgrova's true form was on display. Clad in what could have been a forest, the giant fairy was much different than she had appeared before. If a word described her, it was breathtaking. Her previous form had looked like a frail old woman. But now? She was the very embodiment of youth! Mandgrova floated above the city, staring down at it with a contemptuous smile.

"People of my valley, your time has come! Your misdeeds and mistreatment of my kind will be justly rewarded!"

Link had seen great fairies before... but this woman? She was on an entirely different level. Her beauty was indescribable, yet, the way she loomed over the city in her immense size was terrifying. She looked as though she could lay down and smother a quarter of the city. The entire population of Plurbiocris now stared at the behemoth fairy.

"Now, you shall all bear the judgement for your iniquities! Prepare to suffer, ye who plague my valley!"

With the great fairy harp enlarged by magic to fit her size, Mandgrova used it to amplify her powers. She began to play a slow, almost hypnotic melody on the strings. As she did, a ball of pure energy began to amass before her. Larger and larger it got, its appearance that of a miniature version of the sun. Once the mass was about the size of an apple relative to Mandgrova, she held it up to her mouth and blew. Sparks and flames blew out in every direction in a haphazard manner, and crashed down upon the city. Everyone began to lose their heads, running every which way in an attempt to avert the chaos. Yet, amidst the panic and firestorm, Link and Saria stood their ground.

"Uh... wow... she's uh... big."

At a loss for words, Saria stated up into the sky, her mouth agape. She had seen some crazy things in her some two hundred years alive... but this? This was by far the craziest.

"Uh... Link? I don't guess you had any plans on what to do if Mandgrova turned into a flying seventy foot tall maniac, did you?"

"No... not really."

"Great. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one clueless here. What could we possibly do to her? Even if we had some way of attacking her, she's way up there!"

While this certainly wasn't the first time Link had seen a giant, he certainly was taken aback by her size. Watching something so massive loom above reminded Link of something... of Termina. The moon was always watching him, threatening the entire land. Many times he wished he could just blow the menacing grimace out of the sky. If only he had his masks still! They would certainly be of aid at such a time as this! He had lost them all when those blasted thieves had shook him and Saria down. They likely had them for sale in their... shop. A thought train started in Link's head. The one mask that had saved him from Termina's wrath... The mask fused with the godlike power of an Oni. Could it's power be enough to defeat Mandgrova in her prime? The mask was far beyond dangerous. Yet... desperate times called for desperate measures. Perhaps...

"Masks..."

"Wha? What was that?"

About ten feet off, another fireball crashed down, blowing up a nearby house. The explosion brought Link back to reality, as he drew his shield to block him and his friend from bits of flaming shrapnel.

"We need to move, Link!"

"I have a plan! This way!"

Grabbing Saria by the arm, Link took off through the streets of the city. While the great fairy cackled above, the children dodged the onslaught below. Houses around them caught fire from the sparks in the air. By now, half Plurbiocris had been emptied from the panic. The city was definitely not a good place to be. Yet, both were traveling deeper into the settlement.

"Link, Link! Where are we going? The nearest town gate is that way!"

"A plan... my plan is this way! Did I tell you about my time in Termina?"

Quite an odd thing to bring up during this mess. Saria vividly remembered the short trip she had taken there with the mask man.

"I heard you had been, but the details are still a bit fuzzy. What about Termina?"

"While there, I helped many restless souls... I took on their burdens in the form of masks."

"Masks? Huh... bizarre."

Saria thought about how it had been the mask salesman who had taken her to Termina. Likely not a coincidence.

"Many of them had strange powers... but when those thieves... they stole my things... and put us in cells. They... took... If they haven't sold them yet... then..."

After enough of Link's mumbling, Saria finally caught onto what he was saying.

"Wait, are you talking about when those thieves kidnapped us? I didn't realize they had stolen your things, Link! I thought you had only been carrying your sword and shield! Are you sure we should really be heading to their shop now though?"

Another ball of maelstrom crashed down, effectively leveling a nearby tower. Saria wasn't going to argue, things around them were only going to get worse as time went on.

"So there's a bunch of magic masks sitting in the Grenk-Grock Knick Knack Shop? I think that would've been good to know!"

Link could've done to forget about those masks anyway. There were memories that came with them, few that he wanted to remember. Rounding another corner, the Grenk-Grock Knick-Knack Shop came into view.

"There it is! I hope nobody is home!"

At this point, a squad of thieves seemed like the least of their problems. The children made it to the door. However, before Link could get his hand on the knob, Saria realized that they may arrived at just the wrong time.

"Look out! It's headed right for us!"

A massive fireball streamed through the sky, right towards the shop. Both Link and Saria hunkered down under their shields, but compared to the might of the flame, both felt puny. In a brilliant burst of light, the shop exploded, scattering wooden debris every which way.
