CH 116
The Chinese Ambassador was asking to meet with John Connor. John wasn't really thrilled with the idea. He'd been getting his fill of world events from his many advisors. He also had a new person to stick to his side, the man carrying the nuclear football. His day was filled with briefings and both praises and condemnations coming in from groups around the country about the Constitutional changes. Outside the White House the streets filled with protesters both for and against him. More people were hurt in these and reporters were as thick as fleas outside.
He'd seen the Prime Minister of Canada yesterday. That man was intent that John should redo the trade agreement to help out his country, as well as support the Paris accords. John had to look up the Paris accords to see what they were. He decided against it, he didn't see how funding Europe so they could 'regulate' things in America would help the country at all.
One thing John was intent on and had checked every day, was the status of getting new elections started. Here, there were problems also. A few states insisted that that using paper ballots was 'archaic', and wasted resources. The news people wanted a press interview anyway, so he had one set up.
Cameron offered to do the press conference. John declined, he felt this was his responsibility. He was dressed in his 'Presidential' uniform of a blue suit, white shirt and red tie as his advisors insisted he had to wear. This was sure to be a whole lot of fun.
.
The Sheriff's office was busy. People who knew the Connors were thrilled that John was 'Administrator' for the country and wanted him to stay in that position. There was even a petition out to put him on the ballot as President. From talking to the county office, that opinion was wide spread. Oil was flowing again, illegal border crossings were all but unheard of since they got sent back instead of being 'held', and the economy was looking up. Much of the country was praising John Connor, the rest were cursing him.
Mrs. Lewis came in. "Sheriff, a bunch of us are going to spread out John for President posters up in Austin. Would you like to come?"
He cast her a smile and said, "Mrs. Lewis, I don't think John wants to be president."
"We will convince him! A bus of students is in their way to Washington to tour and see if they can convince him to run."
The Sheriff shrugged. "Good luck with that."
.
John's press conference was a hit with many, and angered others. John had stressed why verifiable paper ballots were necessary. When a reported asked why they should use such an antiquated and expensive method, John replied, "The constitution now requires it. It also assures everyone that their vote will count. That is much more important than counting dollars."
Due to his handling of the press, many more John Connor for president signs were going up all around the country. He pushed fair and timely elections, and things that helped the country like promoting small business. In the pres conference that went on two hours, John also stressed that every person need to find out the facts about those they wanted to elect, and demand they actually answer the questions they were asked. If they didn't they were hiding something, and shouldn't be allowed to get into office.
.
While John dealt with official matters, at home Jackie led the house keeping efforts, Peggy took on the role of Alligator feeding and kitchen duties with Lily. One four footer that came was missing part of it's tail. Peggy had JJ carry it inside. They got the wound sealed and made him a tail extension so he could swim. Noting Momma gator was becoming slower, they kept an eye on her. Jackie decided she needed some nanites to keep her healthy. She put some in the meat Peggy was going to feed her.
Duncan knew about the fencing center, and took a ride down with Jackie and Daniel for one of their bouts. He was taking a liking to Jackie. She had it and fencing, she was fast and knew her moves. He decided to test her to see how good she really was.
In their uniforms eepe blades in hand, Jackie and Duncan saluted each other. At the first crossing of blades, Duncan knew this kid was real good. Dancing back and forth, he had a hard time getting a hit on her, and stopping her thrusts was hard work. Not being able to avoid a thrust, He spun his blade in his hand in a vertical sweep, knocking her blade down to let his jump back keep her from tagging him.
"That was cool. Do that again!" Jackie cried.
"Go slower, you can see what I did," he coached.
They went through the same motion again, he explained." A wrist snap and using the center of my blade to move the tip of yours away to force a miss." he explained. "This move would leave me vulnerable, but you have already extended. You do have to recover quickly from it."
"Try to hit me," she coaxed. Duncan did, Jackie performed the move fast and recovered.
They went on for a while Jackie used her 'spin trap' to hold his blade, but Duncan backed out of it. Duncan smiled as they fenced. This was the first time in a long time that he met anyone who could honestly compete with him. In the end he got the fifth point before Jackie could.
Taking off his helmet, he told her. "You are excellent. Better than any I've seen in a long time. Why don't you fence professionally?"
"Naw, I just do it for fun," she beamed.
"The Olympics can be fun," he prodded.
"Yeah, Jackie you should!" Daniel happily agreed. "You did beat that silver medalist guy."
Duncan nodded. "Very impressive. Maybe you can bring home a gold medal."
Jackie eyed him then pointed and said, "You come with me."
"I'm not really a type for sports," Duncan told her.
"Awww, scared someone will beat you?" she chided.
"No. I just don't do competitions," he replied.
"I don't either," Jackie said.
Duncan went to say something and stopped to gaze at nothing briefly, then turned to look at the door. A dark haired sexy looking woman came in. "There you are." She glanced at Jackie and asked, "Beating up on girls are we?"
Duncan let out a huff. "Hello, Amanda. What brings you here?"
She shrugged in a cute way. "I just was looking for you. You weren't in Paris or Seattle. Can we talk outside?" she asked hopefully.
Duncan glowered at her. "Give me a minute." He went to go change.
Jackie eyed Amanda, something about this women wasn't sitting right with her. "Amanda, right?" she asked. Pointing to the mat she asked, "Care to show me how it's done?"
Amanda cast her a smile. "I am sure Duncan is a better teacher that I would be."
"Yes, Duncan has substance to him," Jackie said with a fake smile.
Amanda eyed her. "You think much of yourself, don't you?" Amanda asked.
"I have every reason to," Jackie replied.
"Ah, Amanda? It's not good to fight with Jackie," Daniel offered.
Amanda let out a cute snort. "I wouldn't waste my time."
"Afraid of getting her ass beat," Jackie told Daniel.
Amanda frowned at her. "I wouldn't want to show you up in front of your boyfriend."
Jackie laughed. "Right! As if."
"Maybe you do need a lesson taught to you," Amanda said, eyeing her.
"Oh! By all means, teach me," Jackie said with a wicked grin.
"No!" Daniel said and got between them. He spun to face Jackie and said, "Don't!"
"Not here, outside," Jackie stated.
"I'll just go out and wait for Duncan," Amanda told her and strode out.
Daniel went up to Jackie and pleaded, "Don't go fight her, it's not worth it."
Jackie pondered it a moment, then said, "Fine, fence with me."
.
Duncan went outside to see Amanda leaning against the wall. Amanda glanced at him. "That blonde girl needs a serious beating. She is way too aggressive!"
Duncan grinned and asked, "Have you heard of cyborgs?"
"Of course I have. they are metal clad AI's."
"Jackie is one. She'd have you howling in pain. Don't mess with her."
Amanda looked at him, "She is?"
"Tougher than nails and bullet proof. Now, what is it you want?" he asked.
"I just wanted to come see you. It's been a while and I was lonely," she said in a purr.
"Who's after you?" he asked.
Casting him a shocked look, Amanda asked, "Why can't I come see you just to spend time with you?"
"Because you don't, unless you're in trouble," he stated.
"Oh, can't an old friend visit you?" she asked.
"Just tell me what's up." he said.
Amanda let out a huff and said, "Methos is missing."
"He does disappear from time to time," Duncan reminder her.
"Not like this!" Amanda stated. "He was suppose to meet me in Paris. He never showed so I went to his place and it was blocked off by police tape. I went in and found blood on the floor! His things were still there. I grabbed his diary and a sword and left. Duncan, a murder happened there, and he's nowhere to be found!"
"Were the walls burnt? Any sign of a quickening?" Duncan asked.
"Not that I noticed. Methos would not leave his diary behind," she stressed.
Duncan had seen that diary. it was large and thick. Bibles were smaller. "Ever think he was in a morgue and trying to get out?" he asked.
"If he was, wouldn't he ask for help?"
"Doubt it. Methos runs into trouble, and he disappears. It's possible he came to get his stuff after you left. He won't be happy to see his diary missing," Duncan told her.
"Well, I'll just keep it until he shows up," Amanda said.
"That's it, you just came to tell me that?" Duncan prodded.
"No," she said sheepishly. "I did come to spend some time with you."
Duncan thought for a moment, then asked, "Who's after his diary?"
"No one, why would they be?" she asked innocently.
"Right." He grumbled. "OK, right now I'm seeing someone, and you need a safe place to be, am I right?"
"I was hoping to stay with you."
Duncan shook his head. "No, I think the best place for you is the Connor house. The parents are off in Washington, but they do have good security there."
Amanda frowned. "I suppose that will work."
Duncan beamed her a smile. "Great, let me go ask Jackie and Daniel if you can stay at their place."
"What? With that little witch?"
"It's safe."
.
Jackie shook her head. "We already got the Kikumura's living with us. Besides, if I don't kill her, Kaede will."
Duncan didn't like Amanda at times, but had to agree she needed a better place for things to calm down. They went to see Connor at the sheriff's office.
"Hey Duncan, and Amanda," the sheriff said as they came in.
"Amanda's looking for a place to hide out for a while," Duncan explained.
The sheriff grinned. "I imagine so. I got some information from Interpol. She's wanted in France for robbery and murder."
Duncan turned to stare at Amanda.
"I didn't kill anyone!"Amanda cried.
"What happened?" Duncan asked in a hard tone.
Amanda started playing with her fingers. "I kinda used Methos' address as my own and well the man who is after me went there..."
"You set Methos up?" Duncan asked. "Let me guess, they went looking for you at his address, and they shot him?"
"I didn't know they were going to do that!" Amanda cried.
"Methos is after you too, isn't he?" Duncan asked.
"I dunno, maybe?" Amanda asked with wince and a shrug.
At her desk, Aliana laughed.
"We got a nice, quiet town here, we don't need troublemakers," the sheriff told them. "Amanda, go look for another place to hide and I'll forget I saw you."
"But ..."
"But nothing," the sheriff said. "Duncan, we can't hide your thieving mistress here."
Duncan asked Amanda, "Do you know where my cabin is up near Seattle, by Wood's Creek?"
Amanda shook her head.
"I'll draw you directions," he said. The sheriff gave him a sheet of paper to do so. "And let me have Methos' diary. He'll be coming looking for it."
.
Bob was going to visit his mother. Joan and Allison wanted to come along. Joan convinced Bob to swim with them across the lake to her house. The tail Joan got for Bob was a light, nearly skin colored tail. They went down to the dock and fed the big alligator, then sat down and put their tails on.
"This almost makes me look naked," Bob grumbled.
Joan cast him a sly grin. "It does," she agreed.
"I like seeing you naked," Allison added with her own mischievous grin. "Don't you like seeing us naked?"
Bob chuckled. "Can't deny it." Once he got his tail on, he put on the plastic pack that had his shirt and shorts in so he had something dry to wear.
Joan and Allison got their packs on. All three got on the edge of the dock and dove in. Watching them, the alligator followed.
Bob loved watching his girls swim. He didn't dive as deep, or do the fantastic jumps they did, but he had a great time watching them. They passed a couple mers and waved. The mers waved back. Bob thought they swam gracefully as well, but Joan and Allison were the ones he kept his attention on. He did feel blessed living with them, he couldn't be happier.
The lake was a completely different world from Bob's perspective. Since he began swimming with his girls, he realized there was so much more of the lake than just the calm surface. It was busy under water. Fish were everywhere. Mid lake down deeper, it was almost a slow highway of creatures. Which fish, turtle and alligator one saw was at random, but there was always something in sight.
Coming up on a mer waving at them, they moved closer to see she had an alligator clamped onto her hair. That seemed to be a thing as of late also. Small alligators found they could catch rides on mers. As they approached, the little gator let go and swam away.
This was another thing Bob liked. Mers didn't wear any clothes. Mermaid breasts normally weren't very big, but still a nice sight to see. He also noticed when they slowed down there was a shadow over him. Yup, the bulk of the big alligator was over them.
Bob swam over to Joan and pointed up. She looked and nodded. They moved on a little faster.
Although they stayed mostly under water, they did have to come up for air now and then. That let the big alligator follow as he stayed on the surface.
Coming to his mother's dock, Bob let Joan jump up on first, then Allison leaped up. Bob then lifted up, grabbed the edge and pulled himself up and on. Sitting on the dock, they got their tails off and using the towel Allison brought, they dried off and got their clothes on.
"He followed us all the way," Allison said, looking off the side of the dock.
"WHY is he following us?" Bob asked.
Joan shrugged. "Must be an alligator thing. Don't let him in the house."
"Mom would freak," Bob agreed.
They went up to the back door, Bob opened it and called, "Mom?"
"I'm in the living room."
They went in and greeted Carol who had the couch pulled out and was cleaning behind it. "So what are you three up to today?" she asked.
"Visiting around the lake," Bob replied.
Carol looked out the window. "I see that alligator is getting big. You shut the back door, right?"
They looked, the alligator was ambling up through the yard.
"Ahhh, let me check," Allison said and went out to make sure.
"Actually, that's another alligator, not the one at the Connor house," Bob said.
Carol eyed him. "Are you collecting them?"
"I'm not, Joan might me." Bob said defensively.
"He followed us home," Joan offered.
Carol looked at Joan "They aren't cats, dear."
"Kinda act like it," Joan said with a frown. She looked out to see the alligator moving to the side. Looking beyond him she saw a snake. "He's after a snake."
"Good, maybe he can chase them away." Carol stated.
"I think he wants to eat it." Joan said. The snake was still, trying not to be seen. The alligator lunged, bit down on the snake. it twisted and tried to bite, the alligator swung is head back and forth fast. The snake went limp, the alligator gulped it down. "Yup, he ate it."
"Didn't we just feed him?" Bob asked, watching the show outside.
"He's on a see-food diet, see food, eat it." Joan said with a giggle.
The front door opened. Duncan came in carrying a large book. "Hi guys," he offered.
Joan zoomed in on the thick old, leather bound book. "Hi Duncan, wow, that book looks old!"
"It is old," he agreed.
"Find it at a used book store?" Bob asked.
"Just holding it for a friend." Duncan replied.
"Duncan, don't go in the back yard, Joan brought her pet," Carol told him and glanced out the window.
Duncan went over to see the eleven foot alligator lounging in the yard. "That should scare the snakes away."
"He ate one, probably waiting for another to come by,"Bob said.
"Good, hope he eats them all."
"Can I see that book?" Joan asked.
Carol finished behind the couch, Bob helped her put it back in place. Duncan sat down on the couch and put the book on the coffee table. "Be very careful with this, it is very old," he told Joan.
Joan nodded and knelt down on the other side of the book was a foot tall and a a foot and a half wide. Looking at the thick pages, she saw they weren't all paper. The binding also looked like string. "How old is it?" she asked. "Can I open it and see?"
"Carefully."
Joan opened the cover slowly to see if it had a date in it. On the top page wasn't writing, but faded pictures. "This isn't paper, are those hieroglyphics?" she asked.
Duncan nodded. "That's papyrus. That's what they used back then."
"My God, this is original Egyptian hieroglyphics, like they wrote on when the pyramids were build?" Joan asked in a squeak.
"That has to be worth a fortune!" Carol whispered, in awe at seeing it. "Where did it come from?"
"Egypt," Duncan said with a smirk. "I'm keeping it for a friend. He will be highly upset if anything happens to it."
"I imagine so," Bob added. "This should be under glass filled with nitrogen, in a museum."
"I wish we could read it, I mean this IS history," Allison said. "The things we could learn from it."
Joan eased the cover back down. "Bob's right, this is a very special book, it needs to be protected."
"That's why I have it, so it stays safe until my friend gets here to claim it," Duncan said. He firmly added, "Very few people know this book even exists. We want to keep it that way."
"I'll get some plastic wrap to wrap it in," Allison said and headed for the kitchen.
"We need more than that, Mom, do you have waxed paper?" Bob asked.
"Yes, keep sunlight from degrading it," Joan agreed.
Duncan watched as they laid out waxed paper, then set the book on it to wrap it up like a Christmas present, then wrapped the package up in a few layers of plastic wrap, then taped the whole thing up to be sure the wrappings stayed in place. The diary of Methos was as safe as they could make it. He was sure Methos would appreciate that.
.
A few days later, Duncan was coming from the sheriff's office and felt another immortal coming. She small car coming into town stopped by him. "Duncan McLeod," Methos said in a grin. "Haven't seen Amanda around lately, have you?"
"I have. I take it you're after your diary she had?"
"Indeed, and possibly her head. I had a very bad time in Paris due to her," Methos said, not looking happy.
"I'm not surprised," Duncan said. "Give me a ride, we'll go get your diary. I got it from her." He got in the car.
"By any chance was a quickening involved?" Methos asked.
Duncan ginned. "No, my cousin Connor ran her out of town. He's the sheriff here."
"Yes, I felt him, and another but I saw you. Is this a town for immortals to hide in or something?"
"It works, there's three others I know of besides me. No head hunters though, Connor makes sure of that."
"That's a relief," Methos said with a sigh. "So, lead on. You didn't manage to get my sword from Amanda, did you?"
"No just your diary. We have an extra room, and this is a nice little town. Care to stay a while? Maybe Jackie Connor can make you a new sword."
"The woman you're seeing?"
Duncan laughed. "No, she's a fencer. Damn good one too for being so young. Take this left coming up. The house is at the end of the road."
.
With the tank production ended and football not starting for another two months, and their house finished, Joan took to studying Egyptian hieroglyphics. She was dying to know what that book read. While Bob went with Allison to see her parents, Joan took her cheat sheets of what each known hieroglyphic symbol meant, and drove down to Carol's house to beg to decipher at least a page or two of that book. Of course she would re-wrap it carefully when she was done.
Getting to Carol's house, Joan noted her Jeep wasn't there, but another car was. She parked behind it and went in, hoping she could decipher a little of that precious book. She went to knock, and looking in, she saw a man had the wrappings off the book, scattered on the coffee table, and he was writing in it!
Forgetting courtesy, Joan threw the door open and yelled in horror, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"
Methos looked up and the frantic looking girl who'd burst in and was staring at him. Calmly he replied, "It's my diary, I can write what I want in it."
Joan walked towards him. "Diary? That's a diary?" she asked weakly.
"Yes," he said evenly. "I take it you're the one who mummified it?"
"You're using an ancient book for a diary?" she asked in disbelief. "Who are you?"
"I would ask the same. Who is it who came bursting in here, screeching?" he replied.
"Joan Connor, I live across the lake. Duncan is holding that for the owner."
"Which is me. I'm Adam Pierson. I take it you peeked in this?"
"Just the first page, You know that's got hieroglyphics in it, like from ancient Egypt?" she asked.
"I should, I wrote them," he told her. "So you haven't read anything in here? I take it that's what those papers you have are for?" he asked.
Joan nodded.
Methos cast her a tight grin. "Sorry, but this is private."
Joan's mind worked a the impossible. "You, you wrote that entire thing?" she asked.
"It is my diary."
"Holy shit! You wrote all that? Even the hieroglyphics? How old are you?"
Methos let out a sigh. "Much older than you. If I were to explain, I doubt you'd believe me."
Joan pointed a finger at him. "You're immortal, right? You'd been around since Egyptian times?" she asked.
"You know about us?"
"I do! See, Bob's immortal too, this means he's going to be around for a real long time!" Joan said happily.
"I take it Bob is your boyfriend?"
"He is. We're going to get married when we know things have calmed down some. Dad's still stuck in Washington with my Moms, we want to be sure they can come to the wedding," Joan explained.
"It doesn't bother you at all that Bob is immortal?" he asked curiously.
"No, that just means he won't die on me. See, my family lives a long time too, we're cyborgs. My Moms are in their 40's, but they still look like teenagers. We can guess, but we're not sure how long we will live. it could be a hundred, or a couple hundred years." Joan said happily.
"So, you're one of these cyborgs. Do you know this John Connor who is acting President?"
"That's my Dad," Joan beamed.
"I see. Apparently, this is a strange little town," Methos said in a musing tone. "Besides cyborgs and immortals, do you have any other non humans here?"
"Some. My brother JJ has wives who are aliens, we got a family that the women all have horns on heir heads. I know a woman who has wings. I think we got a bit of everything here. Everyone gets along good too," Joan explained.
In a sarcastic tone, Methos said, "I'm surprised you don't have mermaids."
"We do, but I just can't say where."
Methos smiled. "A strange little town indeed! I may have to stay around a while, this is an interesting place."
.
In the sit down interview with another reporter, John said, "I am not going to change any laws. I'm not an elected official. All my job entails is the basic function of providing a common defense and welfare of the people. I am a filler until the new President and Congress is elected. If say we have a natural disaster, or serious threat from another country, yes, I'll be all over that to take care of the problem. I'm here for continuity reasons, not to make my own decisions on how the country is to be run."
"I would think a man in your position might be tempted to take the Presidency as his own."
"Some would. They would be wrong though. I wasn't elected by the people, but by the Governors who asked me to do this. I've talked to a couple counties that want me to 'straighten out the US', As I told them, that's not my job. I have no right to act as President."
"What do you think about the new Constitution?"
John shrugged. "What I think doesn't matter. Am I in agreement with it? Some things yes, other no. My point is it's not my place to agree or disagree. It is my responsibility to carry it out and get elections going as soon as possible so we can return to the government we're supposed to have."
"The addition of the abortion clause. what is your opinion on that?"
"It's overdue. I'm not saying I like what it reads. I am saying this is a hot and controversial topic that Congress had ignored for too long. The same with term limits, another thing that has been called for to minimize the good-old-boy back room deals that go on that undermine what officials are elected for in the first place. Representatives aren't elected to make lucrative deals for themselves with special interest groups, but to see to the needs of the people who elected them. Frankly, I don't think Lobbyists should be tolerated. What should happen is representatives taking more time to talk to their constituents. But again, that's my opinion. It doesn't mean much in the long run."
"As of late, there had been a call for you to run for President."
John winced. "Yeah, I've heard that. Look, me, my family, we do what we can for this country. As everyone should do. I think I can do more by not being President, I'm in no way, a politician."
"There are many who disagree."
"Yeah well, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one," John paused at seeing her smirk and added, "Maybe I shouldn't have said that."
"One thing you have done is change how people trying to come into the country are handled. Many say it's inhuman to just push them back across the border with no assistance."
"Did they get assistance getting here?" John asked. "If they did, let that assistance deal with them. We had nothing to do with them coming over the border, why should the taxpayers have to pay for their care?"
"There are those who believe that is a racist policy."
"No, it's an equal opportunity program. Sneak in, you get booted back out to go to a proper border crossing, no matter who you are." John stated.
"So are not for immigration then?"
"Never said that. I'm all for immigration that's legal. Every year, a guy named Pedro brings his group of migrant workers up from Mexico. They are a bunch of good, hard working people. I know the sheriff has asked them, several people have, of why make that trip every year? Why not just get green cards and stay? They don't want to, they have homes in Mexico, and that's where they want to be. If they wanted to immigrate, I'm all for it. A few of his people have stayed and live and work in town. Most choose to return home. It's the ones who sneak in that cause trouble. Sure, there are some legitimate families that sneak in, but too many are pushed on by other, not so nice people who only want to promote their illegal activities."
"Do you think the immigration laws need to be changed?"
"Honestly, I'd have to take a hard look at them before I say anything. I don't want to comment on anything I don't have all the information on. As I also said, I don't make or change any laws. That's the job of Congress."
"I must ask, Mr, Connor, what do you normally do when you're not here as an Administrator?"
John smiled and said, "I'm afraid that's classified information."
"You have two wives, isn't polygamy against the law?"
"Not for us. Let me ask you this, can a man marry a woman, or another man, and can't women do the same?"
"That is legal, yes."
"Then why can't say, a woman, marry a man and another woman if they all agree to it?"
"That's immoral."
"Why?" John pressed. "So you believe that the government should be allowed to dictate people's personal lives?"
The reporter stared at him. "I'm supposed to ask the questions."
"You have, answer me this one. Should government control people's personal lives?"
Meekly the reporter said, "I don't have an answer for that."
"It's something you should think about. That everyone should think about."
"How does you mother view your dual wives?"
John chuckled. "At first she wasn't happy at all I married Cameron. They we married Delilah and I thought she was going to have a heart attack. She had come to accept it, and the fact she is a grandmother."
"Do your wives have separate houses?"
"No, we have one big house. We do all live together."
"How do your children deal with having two mothers?"
"They know to behave. Well, most of the time. They also know they have support in the things they choose to do. Our family is, I think the best word is, dynamic."
"Do you have many children?'
"Five, right now. Some are grown up, others still live at home."
"Joan Connor, the football player is one of them?"
"She is. Joan has been doing very well. that is when the games are being played. Jackie is working at starting a business with her boyfriend, Nana is from Japan and is learning English, JJ is a farmer and Louise is aspiring to be a musician. She plays the piano like a pro."
"Do you speak Japanese?"
"I have been picking some up. Cameron and Delilah both speak fluent Japanese. They are helping Nana with her language studies. From what we get from Nana, I think she's going to be a public servant of some kind. She likes helping people, and animals. She is a sweet girl."
"I take it Nana is adopted?"
"Yes, she was in a very bad way and homeless. Louise's parents died in an auto accident. She also desperately needed a home, having no other living relatives we could find."
"I thank you for your time, Mr, Connor. I also must say, thank you for taking on this position and pressing for elections to be held."
"My job." Joan agreed with a smile. They shook hands.
.
After the interview was aired, John began climbing up in the polls. 51% of those polled wanted John Connor to be president.
