So I am going to go back on what I said before actually lol. I've been writing up a rough draft and its not going to be a continuation from some point, its going to be my own. I'm thinking about starting it right before Derek convinces Simon to leave the Lyle House. Chloe would barely know the boys so she wouldn't be with Derek, none of the scenes like the corpses in the basement or discussions of supernaturals would have happened. Only the voice she hears coming from the closet, which she thinks is a symptom of her schizophrenia.
I think showing what's going on with those guys is a fantastic idea! Thank you thatreader2003! It's a great way of bringing them back in until the group meets back together(:
(Also spoiler I guess, I haven't actually decided where this sickness thing is going to go with Chloe yet. What are you guys hoping for? Would you guys rather see Elijah be wrong or werewolf or vampire?)
I stepped out and walked back to Elijah and Derek.
"Are you ok?" Elijah asked as I sat down.
I nodded, it was just a lot to take in.
"Do I really have to sit here all day?" I asked. "I'm seriously getting bored staring at the same walls every day."
Elijah sighed, "Fine you two can come with me as I run some errands."
I smiled but Derek looked confused or maybe it was concerned.
"You're more worried about having something to do today?" He said.
I shrugged, "I'll go crazy sitting here thinking about it, I need a distraction."
Derek looked a little concerned but nodded, "We're coming back though if you start to feel sick."
I nodded agreeing to the terms. We got our shoes on and followed Elijah out the door, Derek's hand wrapped tightly around mine. I didn't feel great but I felt good enough to be able to walk around. I think the fresh air will be good for me.
"So what exactly is the plan?" Derek asked Elijah. "I mean, you came here to visit while we went to Emma's family. Now what? Why are we still here?"
Elijah shrugged, "I'm sorry you kids are still sitting around here, I'm just worried about Tess traveling. She's recovered nicely but I don't want anything else to happen. What am I supposed to do if she's about to have the baby? I don't know of any hospitals. What if something bad happens like an accident?"
"What does Tess think?" Derek asked.
"She says I'm overreacting like usual," Elijah smirked.
"Concern for someone's safety isn't overreacting," Derek squeezed my hand.
Elijah shrugged again, "Depends on the situation. We'll have to go home soon anyways though, literally all of our stuff for the baby is there."
I looked down at the ground as I spoke, unsure what reaction Elijah would have. "Have you ever thought about Tess' family?"
"What?"
"I mean like when's the last time she got to see them? I bet she misses them. You got to visit yours, when does she get to visit hers?"
Elijah was quiet for a few minutes, I guess this had never crossed his mind. He was about to push the door to a building open when a man racing by, stopped and shouted to him.
"Elijah!" He said, slightly out of breath. "Are you coming this time or what?"
"Coming to what?" Elijah asked. His answer was a group of people running by with weapons, the man didn't wait for an answer, he joined the group. Elijah swore under his breath.
"What is it?" Derek asked.
Gunshots rang out in the woods nearby, followed by joyful shouting.
"Elijah?" Derek pressed.
"Hunting," he said lowering his voice. "Something or someones come too close to the territory border."
"So they're going to kill them?" I gasped.
Elijah clasped a hand over my mouth and looked around.
"You need to act like this is totally fine," he growled. "We do not need to draw attention to you guys."
I nodded and he let go, "What do we do?"
"We need to find Tess and the others. Walk fast but try to look calm."
Derek held my hand tight as we followed Elijah, I'm assuming in the direction of Ashe's house where they were supposed to be at. By the sound of that guy, it was frowned upon to be against defending their territory and apparently Elijah was against it.
"It's a bit hypocritical of me isn't it?" Elijah said when no one else was around. "I've done a lot of bad things to a lot of innocent people but I refuse to attack an innocent being for coming into our territory."
Derek and I glanced at each other, not sure how to respond to that. More shots and hollering rang out from the woods.
"Why are we rushing?" Derek asked. "I don't think Tess would participate."
Elijah shook his head, "It's not her I'm worried about, its your idiot friend Jeremy. He seems to like putting him in situations that'll get himself killed."
He stopped and opened a fence gate, ushering us through it. We walked up to the home and Elijah opened the door and walked in, not bothering to knock.
"EJ," Tess looked surprised.
"Please tell me the runt didn't decide to join the hunt?" He said.
"It's just hunting, he's with Ashe," Tess frowned.
Elijah tensed but slowly shook his head, "No sweetheart, they're hunting trespassers not animals."
Derek and I were still standing in the doorway, I gently tugged on his hand and nodded towards the woods. We should go find him. We had the perfect opportunity right now to slip away. Derek shook his head and put an index finger to the corner of my lip. When he pulled it away there was a drop of blood on it. I hadn't even noticed the taste of copper in my mouth.
"You were supposed to be taking it easy," he growled quietly so it wouldn't interrupt Tess and Elijah's conversation. They were trying to figure out what to do.
"I told you he's with Ashe, he'll be fine," Tess said.
"That's my point, Ashe gets right in the thick of it. Jeremy will either be in the most dangerous position for someone as unexperienced as him, or he'll be left behind lost in the woods somewhere."
"So go looking for him yourself," Derek spoke up.
"If I'm going then you're coming with," Elijah said to him. "This twerp is your responsibility."
"How?" Derek asked.
"He's your bloodline," Elijah said as he pushed Derek back out the door. "Let's go."
Before anyone could say anything, Elijah had slammed the door shut. I looked at Tess and realized Emma had been standing behind her.
"Was all this an elaborate scheme to pass me off to the next babysitter?" I mumbled.
Tess chuckled, "Elijah's just dramatic when he's on edge, I'm sure Jeremy's fine."
Elijah had a good point though, Jeremy was not very good at fighting. He could easily wind up hurt.
