Annabeth POV
Annabeth sighed as she walked along the corridors of Golden Gate High (A/N fake school name if it actually exists its pure coincidence), rubbing her temple with one hand, the other holding her backpack strap. Lost in her thoughts of homework, camp, Percy and more, a voice snaps her back to reality.
"Annabeth? You good?" said the voice, which on further inspection, belonged to her closest friend at GGHS, Tom Graham.
Annabeth smiled. "Yeah. Just tired I guess." Tom seemed content with her answer, though she could see he knew it wasn't just fatigue that was plaguing her. Tartarus had left its mark on her, and was almost always lurking subconsciously at the back of her mind. She shook those thoughts away and turned back to Tom.
"Let's head to our lockers."
"Sure!" he replied. As they walked they heard whispers following, more than just the normal gossiping girls talking about whatever guy they had spotted on the weekend. Annabeth caught snippets of their conversations – new guy, said one. super hot, hissed another. have you seen the new kid? He's cute with a capital C! Annabeth rolled her eyes, disbelieving of the other girls. She didn't need to worry about any new kid – she already had the most amazing boyfriend in the world, who in her opinion, was better-looking and more kind-hearted than any god, let alone some mortal.
*this do be a line break doe*
Tom POV
Tom and Annabeth continued chatting once they reached their lockers, which conveniently were in the same hallway, only a couple away from each other.
Little did Annabeth know, Tom had had a crush on her ever since she'd stepped in the doors of Golden Gate, around three months ago. (A/N sorry to interrupt again, but as I said, I'm Aussie. For this story I will be trying to use the American school semesters (since you guys start in September whereas we start in January) but forgive me if I get anything wrong, and if I do please tell me! Thank you!) He admired her so much – she wasn't just a pretty face, but she was smart, strong and understanding! She joined a little late into the year, about halfway through September, but it was on October 3rd he finally gathered the courage to talk to her. Well, she talked to him first, but that didn't matter.
What matters is that on October 3rd she asked him what day it was, (hehe... mean girls) and from then on they had grown closer and become good friends. Tom hoped this would turn into something more, but that was yet to be seen. She claimed she had a boyfriend, but she had no pictures of him, having no phone, and the way she described him made him sound almost like half-god! No way this kid could exist - he was just an excuse for all the people asking her out.
Suddenly he was pulled out of his thoughts by the sound of extremely loud whispering, more so than usual. Annabeth was talking about their upcoming assessments, and hadn't stopped to turn around to see what all the commotion was about. But Tom had. Along the hallway was what he presumed was the new kid everyone was on about – justifiably. He was seriously hot, with toned muscles and a boyish smile as he walked shyly down the corridor with another student, who Tom recognised from his Biology class. James maybe?
Tom watched as the new kid's eyes scanned the crowd, obviously looking for someone. They stopped on Annabeth, and he smiled, setting off alarms in Tom's head. They were blaring - tHrEaT THREAT tHrEaT pRoTect aNnAbEtH! Tom's jaw hardened. He had seen himself how many jocks like this kid hit on Annabeth, and how she destroyed every single one, either scaring them off physically or verbally. Internally laughing as the kid approached his best friend, Tom watched in amusement, ready for this guy to be beat to a pulp by Annabeth.
*line breakkkkkkkkkkkk*
Annabeth POV
Annabeth was organising her books in her locker when she heard a voice in her ear, gravelly and dangerous. Almost certainly a monster."Annabeth Chase. Long I have awaited this moment." the voice visually tensed, reaching for her drakon-bone sword she kept in her backpack. In a blur of speed she whirled around and held her sword at Percy's throat, the anger in her eyes imminent.
Percy laughed as her eyes widened in shock. "I was hoping I could get a kiss before my head is severed, Wise Girl."
"PERCY?!" Annabeth yelled, disbelieving. Percy chuckled.
His laugh melted her anger, and she rose up of the balls of her feet to kiss his salty, ocean-like lips she had come to love. He picked her up and whirled her around, causing a laugh to escape her lips as her blonde curls flew around. Once back on the ground, Percy gave her a bone crushing hug.
"I missed you too, Seaweed Brain, buts there's no use in you being here if I can't breathe" Annabeth choked out. Percy released immediately, his face apologetic, causing Annabeth to chuckle. "So what are you doing here?" she asked.
Percy smiled goofily and answered "I transferred here".
"WHAT?!" Annabeth pulled him into a hug, and Percy was the one this time who couldn't breathe. "What do you have first?"
"English Mandatory in 201" he replied. Her smile widened (if that was even possible), as they had the same class together.
"Come on! Let's head to class then - don't want to be late on your first day!" Annabeth took his hand and they went along the hallway, oblivious to the whispers, and Tom's heartbroken expression.
So that's the chapter! Longest yet :DDDDD
