Tom POV

"...and this is the rock-climbing wall!" Percy said and waved a hand towards a big wall which had something flowing down its sides.

"LAVA?!" Tom shrieked. "How is that possibly safe?!" He had wide eyes. How could anyone allow this? It was way too dangerous. Percy shrugged.

"That's kind of the point. As demigods, we need to be well prepared for any danger to come our way."

Tom shook his head in disbelief. "But- but this could kill someone!" Once again, Percy seemed unbothered by this revelation.

"We have healers on hand and other campers watching to make sure no one gets too seriously injured. We get a few burns here and there, but when you've almost died multiple times, a little lava doesn't seem so daunting." He got a distant, melancholy look in his eyes, his expression unreadable. Tom scoffed inwardly. Percy, as always, had to be exaggerating. What a drama queen. The worst he'd probably done was broken an arm or something. (oh tom... if only you knew. bruh i dislike writing tom hes so naive and annoying aha)

Percy shook it off and headed towards a cluster of buildings, most the same size, but varying extremely in appearance. There were two big semicircles, all made of different cabins with different decorations. Percy smiled, a homely warmth radiating off of him.

"Welcome to the cabins. One of which which will be your home for each summer."

Tom was supposed to stay here? In one of these shacks? I mean sure, some of them did look cool, like the one with a smoking chimeny and metal exterior. He just hoped he wasn't in the deep red one topped with barbed wire, or, gods forbid, the bright pink and sparkly one. Tom could appreciate the design of that one though. It was rather beautiful, if obnoxious.

"Which one is yours?" Tom asked Percy, intrigued as to where he resided. Besides, maybe if Percy showed him his cabin, Tom would find something suspicious to use against him. Nice as he seemed (emphasis on seemed), Tom needed to show Annabeth that he was the only one who was truly perfect for her. (*vomits*)

Percy lead him over to a blue cabin with a trident symbol, naming cabins they passed. Many campers passing by called out greetings to them. Seems like Pretty Boy Percy is rather popular here. Tom thought. Soon the boys reached the Poseidon cabin. If you got close enough, you could hear running water.

"Did you leave a tap on?" Tom asked, confused and slightly annoyed at Percy for being so careless.

He stopped and looked at Tom with a puzzled expression, before relaxing and replying, "Oh! No, not a tap. There's a water feature in my bathroom." And continued walking, pushing open the door and heading inside.

It was a simple space, with one bunk bed against the wall, and a doorway leading to what Tom presumed was the bathroom. On the wall hung a strange looking horn, like that of a cow. Tom laughed but covered it up with a cough. Percy looked over with a concerned expression. "You ok, bro?" He asked, and for a moment Tom felt a stab of guilt, before pushing it away.

"Yeah, fine thanks." Tom answered, before pausing and turning to Percy, saying, "Why do you have a cow's horn on your wall?"

Percy laughed, which made Tom feel stupid. "That's actually the horn of the Minotaur. When I first arrived at camp, what, five years ago now? The Minotaur kidnapped my mother. I defeated it, however, and was left with this horn."

Tom's eyes widened, but he tried to keep a calm composure, nodding. Percy defeated one of the most famous Greek monsters when he was twelve?! He was pretty popular... No, of course not. He's manipulating the truth to make himself look good, Tom thought to himself as they exited the cottage. He most definitely would've had help, probably from multiple other campers.

Percy seemed to know every campers' name, which Tom reluctantly admired. 'Seaweed Brain' as he was, the boy at least cared about other people and learnt their names. It was a good quality for a leader to have. Pushing those thoughts aside, he thought back to the beginning of the tour. Hmmm. Tom thought. He had noticed the warm smile Percy gave that one girl earlier, the one who hugged Annabeth. He couldn't let Percy hurt Annabeth, he just couldn't. A smile wasn't much to build on, but Tom investigated anyway.

"So, Percy," Tom spoke up, trying to sound casual (and failing), "Who was that girl Annabeth ran up to earlier? The red-head?"

Percy smiled. "That's Rachel, one of my close friends. She's been essential in these last two wars."

Complimenting someone who wasn't your girlfriend... and he claimed she was a 'close friend'. Very suspicious. Tom would have to do more digging, perhaps talk to another camper.

"Thanks for the tour Percy, but I'm going to go introduce myself to some people. See you!" Tom waved to Percy and ran off towards the pavilion.
