Happy 2021 everyone! I hope you are keeping safe and well in these ongoing crazy times. I'm sorry for the longer than normal wait for an update, I'm back in London now and was a little unmotivated at start, but I finally managed to write the date idea I've had in my head for a couple of weeks.
This is a bumper of a chapter (my longest ever!) to make up for the wait and I hope you enjoy it
.

It had been a couple of days since they had shared that kiss in the car, and annoyingly their paths had barely crossed at the training ground. When they did find themselves in the same room, there was always lots of other people around but that hadn't stopped the two women exchanging a few stolen glances and discreet smiles in each other's direction.

Arizona had officially asked Callie out on a date on Sunday and so each night there was an exchange of flirty text messages as Callie tried to guess what the blonde doctor had organised for them.

On Friday Callie was in the canteen finishing her breakfast when she looked up and saw the blonde walk in and watched as she headed towards the coffee machine. Sensing an opportunity, Callie quickly jumped out of her seat and headed over to where Arizona was standing.

As Arizona waited for the machine to finish making her drink she felt a presence and turned to see Calliope standing next to her, dangerously close. Arizona felt her heart quicken at the sight of the brunette.

"Good morning Dr Robbins" Callie said with a wink.

"Callie!" Arizona whispered back in a stern voice as she turned to check of anyone had seen the gesture.

"Chill, it's OK...no one saw!" Callie smiled but she could see her move had made the blonde feel uncomfortable. Callie reached over past the blonde and grabbed a bottle of water from the counter.

The move meant that she was briefly obscured from the other people in the room, her face hidden behind the physio at which point she whispered "I'm sorry, but I just can't stop thinking about kissing you" before turning and heading back to her seat leaving Arizona flustered and her cheeks turning pink.

Callie grabbed her phone as she watched the blonde hurry out of the canteen without looking over in Callie direction. Had she gone too far? She was now worried Arizona was cross with her so quickly tapped out a text message

I'm sorry. It's just I've hardly seen you and every time I close my eyes I imagine your lips on mine... C x

Five minutes later Arizona responded

I feel the same, but you can't do that at work OK? Save it for our date on Sunday. A x

I understand. I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you on Sunday xxx

"Hey Cal!" Stacey said down the camera finally speaking to her client for the first time in a week.

"Hi Stacey" Callie said as she sat down in front of her laptop to speak to her agent.

"Soooo good of you to finally call me back!" Stacey smiled at her friend

"Sorry. I know you've been calling, it's just with the time difference and training, it's been hard to find a moment." Callie responded a little sheepishly

"Well I guess things are going well over there if you don't need me!" The agent responded pretending to be hurt.

"I'll always need you Stace, you know that!" Callie responded with a smile.

"Seriously though, how's things? I saw you've been scoring goals."

"Yeap, four in two games now and my fitness is improving each game. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a totally different game over here, way more physical and I think I probably spend more time on the ground than I do on my feet, but I'm adapting. The team have been great and Arizona has been a massive support."

Callie stopped herself before she said something she shouldn't

"Remind me again who Arizona is?" Stacey asked

"She's the head physio, she has helped through a couple of wobble moments recently"

"Hey! Isn't that my job" Stacey protested down the screen

"Yeah, but these were BIG wobbles that she just ummm... she just understood where I was coming from."

"OKAY, but I'm still your person right?" Stacey asked

"Of course you're still my person!" Callie responded with a smile but deep down she could not ignore the fact that she didn't feel comfortable talking to her friend about what she had been going through. About her newly acknowledged feelings towards women, about Arizona, definitely not about Arizona and that made Callie sad.

Keen to change the subject Callie asked about the interview with the LA Times Stacey had mentioned in her voice message, the reason why they were talking.

Stacey filled the Latina in on the interview and that the angle would be on the number of Americans playing in the UK ahead of the Olympics, but that she would be the main subject.

"Sure. When are they thinking?" Callie asked

"Next month I think with the article being published in January."

"Sure. Set it up and let me know the date."

Date time

Callie woke early having struggled to sleep. The game on Saturday had been close and they had held their own for 70 minutes against Manchester City who were second in the league before their striker scored a wonder goal from a free kick. Callie's fitness still wasn't good enough to last the full 90 minutes and she had been frustrated to have been subbed just after City had scored, but she understood the manager wanted some fresh legs on the pitch to try and get an equaliser. They managed to score from a corner with three minutes to go and the coach ride home had been full of song and cheer as if they had won the game. It was a hard-fought point that moved the team up the table and as Callie climbed into bed that night she was exhausted.

As she closed her eyes she started thinking about her date with Arizona, and she struggled to find sleep despite how tired she was feeling. She was too excited.

Once awake she took a long shower as she washed and conditioned her hair, exfoliated, and moisturised her skin before deciding what to wear.

Callie spent nearly as long choosing her underwear as she did her outfit. It was only their first date so she had no idea what to expect. Arizona had been restrained when they had kissed in the car and had said about not rushing things, but as she tried on different bras the anticipation was driving Callie mad.

She eventually settled on a white satin and lace set and after trying on a number of outfits decided on a pair of black jeans and a light blue shirt which as she tucked into her jeans she hoped the blonde would be unbuttoning later that day. She added some hoop earrings and a gold necklace with her name on it that had been a birthday gift from her sister.

Meanwhile Arizona was busy finalising things at her house. London was in a strict lockdown and so she had to be inventive when thinking what they could do. Once she was happy with the setup she headed up to her bedroom to get ready before Callie arrived.

Bang on time Callie rang the doorbell. She had actually arrived 15 mins early so had been admiring the houses on Arizona's street before finally pressing the bell.

As Arizona opened the door she could tell the American was nervous as she shoved a bottle of wine in her face by way of an hello.

"Woah.." Arizona said taking a step back and laughing lightly as she smiled at Callie.

"Umm sorry..this is for you...these are too.." She said as she pulled a big bouquet of flowers from behind her back and smiled nervously at the blonde doctor who looked amazing. Her hair was down and she wore a royal blue v neck cashmere jumper that made her eyes seem even bluer than they already were, which Callie didn't think was possible.

"Oh Callie they are gorgeous"

Arizona smiled as she looked at the flowers before looking back up at the America

"Come in, Come in..." she said as she stepped back and opened the door fully to welcome Callie in.

"This place is amazing!"

Callie said as she eventually pulled her eyes away from Arizona to take in the beautiful property.

"Thanks, I invested the insurance money I got from the botched operation into property when I was younger, otherwise I'd never be able to afford to live here on my physios salary. I'll give you a tour in a bit. Let me take your jacket from you"

Arizona said as she placed the wine and flowers down onto the small table by the door and went to help Callie take off her coat.

Callie heartbeat was going crazy with nervous excitement and yearning. As Arizona brushed her arm as she helped Callie shrug off her leather jacket and place it away in a cupboard before turning round to face the American.

"You look great by the way" Arizona said with a big dimpled smile as she took in the sight before her. Callie wore a shirt very well and Arizona smiled as she noticed that the top three buttons had been deliberately left undone giving her a tantalising glimpse of the brunette's bra.

"Thanks, so do you." Callie smiled

"I'm really nervous by the way" Callie admitted.

"Me too" Arizona confessed with a smile.

"You are?" Callie said as a wave of relief flooded over her that she wasn't the only one.

"Totally!" Arizona responded, "I haven't been on a date for about eight years...I also really want you to have a good time."

"God that makes me feel so much better, I could hardly sleep last night, and you have nothing to worry about, I'm sure I'll have a great time."

Arizona let out a small chuckle "OK well I hope so, I umm better out these in some water" she said picking up the flowers as she started walking towards the kitchen with Callie following.

"So what have you got planned for us?" Callie asked as she watched Arizona fill up a vase with water and place the flowers in it before responding.

"OK so I thought we could maybe go for a leisurely bike ride and take in some sights, followed by a trip to the pub, maybe a film at the cinema and then Yauatcha for Dim sum."

Callie looked at Arizona confused "I mean that all sounds great, but it's kinda pouring with rain right now" as she looked out the window "...and isn't everything closed?"

"Yes, but I'm not letting that ruin our first date" she said with a smile "Come with me." Arizona said excitedly as she held out her hand.

Arizona watched as the brunette hesitated.

Callie's heart started beating faster as she looked at the outstretched hand and smiled as she placed hers in it.

"Still nervous" Arizona asked as she moved closer to Callie

"Sorry, is it really obvious?" Callie replied looking a little embarrassed.

Arizona smiled "Hmmm maybe if we got this out of the way it might make you feel more at ease" as she placed a soft kiss on Callie's lips.

Boom! The butterflies were loose again as Callie closed her eyes, relaxed into the kiss and slipped an arm around the blonde pulling her closer. The American had to work hard to stifle the groan that was growing inside as she slowly ran her hand down the small of the Arizona's back, the softness of her cashmere jumper matching the feeling of the blondes lips..

"Better?" Arizona asked after pulling away with a warm smile on her face.

Callie returned the smile and nodded as she tried to calm her breathing. "much better. I ummm think you might need to do that regularly...you know...for when I start getting nervous again..." Callie said with a cheeky eyebrow raise

"Sure, I can manage that" Arizona replied as she squeeze Callie's hand before leading them out of the kitchen and down a set of stairs.

Arizona opened a door which housed a fully equipped gym.

Callie laughed as she saw two exercise bikes set up in front of a large TV which was displaying a picture of Buckingham Palace.

Initially Arizona had planned a real bike ride through Regents Park and then down along the river Thames before grabbing some food from one of the take away vendors down by the Southbank, but had had to come up with plan B when she had seen it was going to rain.

"I borrowed a bike from work when I saw the weather forecast" Arizona explained.

"This is fantastic..." Callie smiled "...and probably a lot safer, you know I'm still not fully used to the whole driving on the left thing over here." Callie admitted as she headed over and climbed on to one of the bikes.

"Ohhh I hadn't even thought of that!" Arizona chuckled as she climbed up onto the other bike and pressed play on the TV remote.

Arizona had managed to find an amazing film someone had made using a drone that went all over the capital and talked Callie through the various buildings as they peddled away.

"See that monument, it was built to mark the Great Fire of London in 1666 which destroyed 13,000 houses." Arizona said before adding "I had to do a project on it when I was 6"

"Where did you grow up?" Callie asked

"I grew up in a place called Deal in Kent, it's about 2hrs from London. It's a small seaside town with not a lot going on for a kid which is why I became obsessed with football. I have a small cottage there that I spend a lot of time at out of season, I mean it's not Miami, but there is something so relaxing about being by the sea"

"I agree. What do you parents do?" Callie asked the doctor

"They are retired now, but when I was younger my dad was a PE teacher at the local high school and my mum was a doctor."

"Sooo you were literally made to be a sports physio!" Callie replied

"I guess. I mean when I was recovering from my injury I didn't really know of anything other than sport, and I just wanted to try and help other players in my position." Arizona told Callie

"Shit…sorry Arizona…I didn't think" Callie said regretting her comment

"It's OK, my football career was over a long time ago" Arizona interrupted

"Do you enjoy it?" Callie asked

"My job?" Arizona asked looking over at Callie "yeah I love it"

"But?" Callie asked noticing Arizona seemed to be holding back

"Oh I don't know, it's just sometimes it can be really frustrating, players are rushed back too quickly and money speaks so much more these days."

"How so?" Callie asked

"You know, players get bonuses based on how many games they play and so say they are ready when they aren't fully fit. We're often in a position where the player and manager are both putting pressure on us to sign a player off, but we know it's a risk...and that's all driven by money."

Callie thought of how she herself had on more than one occasion pushed to play when not 100% fully fit.

"I'm guilty of that" Callie admitted

"It's OK, I get it, I remember how it feels to not be able to play, but I've seen too many careers end because of recurring injuries because they haven't had time to heal properly. It's just frustrating as it's often taken out of our hands."

"Well, I promise you here and now Dr Robbins that I will do whatever you tell me to." Callie said with a cheeky smile.

"Oh really...well I'll hold you to that Torres." Arizona said with a wink before turning back to the TV screen to see where the virtual tour was and saw that they were now down by the House of Parliament.

"It's like something out of Harry Potter!" Callie commented on the building

"You can do a guided tour which is fascinating, you know...if you like that kinda thing?" Arizona added a little embarrassed that she might be coming off as a bit of a boring geek. She needed to up her game for the next phase of their date.

"I'd love to go on a tour, would you take me one day?" Callie smiled back to reassure Arizona that she was interested. England had so much history it fascinated her. Growing up in Miami everything was pretty modern with most buildings dating from the 1900's.

"Well if you're sure you'd like to go, then I'd love to take you...assuming things ever open up again!" Arizona added

"I've a good feeling about 2021." Callie said confidently.

Ten minutes later and the video tour was finished, and they climbed off their bikes.

"I promise you that's the hard part out the way." Arizona said smiling "I don't know about you, but I could use a drink now"

"Thank god for that, my legs are a little stiff after the game" Callie admitted

Arizona turned with concern "Are they? Do you umm want me to take a look?"

Callie paused for a moment at the thought of Arizona's hands on her, massaging her aching muscles, as tempting as it was, she didn't want Arizona to slip into her work mode.

"Nooo it's fine, it's probably helped me stretch them out a bit." Callie said

"Well if you're sure?" Arizona checked again

"Positive...now where's this drink you promised me?"

Arizona led Callie back up the stairs and down the hallway stopping outside a door that had a homemade poster on it

"Welcome to the Cockerel Inn" Arizona said in reference to the sign. The club badge of Spurs is a Cockerel on a Football and Callie couldn't believe how much effort Arizona had gone to as she had turned the logo into a pub sign and as they walked into the room that was their pub for the afternoon.

"Oh Arizona, this is so cool" Callie said as she look the room that Arizona had made to look like a pub. In the corner there was a table set up with bottles and glasses and on the wall Arizona had printed out photos of old London pubs. There was a roaring fire and a table with two comfy chairs beside it and Arizona even had beermats with the cockerel Inn printed on them.

"Take a seat and I'll get us some drinks. What would you like?" Arizona asked. They had two days off and so it was OK to have a couple of drinks without it affecting training.

"Ummm surprise me" Callie said with a smile as she headed over to the chair and took her seat. She watched Arizona pour two gin and tonics into a glass and add some cucumber to the drinks before heading over and joining Callie at the table.

"Cheers" Arizona said holding her glass up to Callie

Callie smiled

"What?" Arizona asked

"Nothing, it's just I love the way you say that word "cheers!" Callie said trying to copy how Arizona sounded.

"Oh my god...you really need to stop with the British accent...it's like " Arizona slipped into her best Valley girl impersonation "...you know, like, totally awful. It sucks man"!

Callie laughed "OK, I promise no more British accent, but that was so stereotypical, we don't all speak like the Kardashians you know."

Arizona chuckled "I like totally know that. For suuuure" she said again in her American accent

"Stop it!" Callie pleaded laughing

"OKay...no more accents from either of us."

They clinked glasses and took a sip of their drinks.

"Mmm that tastes good" Callie smiled

Arizona took another sip before she jumped back up and headed back to bar area

"I forgot the bar snacks!" She exclaimed before returning with some packets of crisps, peanuts and something called scampi fries which Arizona explained were a British pub tradition.

"You HAVE to try one of these." She said holding open the little bag of golden snacks.

"They sound ummm interesting" Callie said a little suspicious as she sniffed at the snack between her fingers "oh god it smells awful!" the American complained

"Just eat it!" Arizona laughed as she watched Callie warily pop the snack into her mouth and close her eyes as she chewed hard with a disgusted look of her face "oh my god...it's disgusting" she said sticking her tongue out and reaching for her drink to wash the taste away.

Arizona was laughing hard "It's a bit of an acquired taste, but they are kind of a tradition."

"Gross" Callie continued to complain

"Here, have a crisp instead" Arizona said holding out a packet to the American

"You mean chip" Callie said as she reached into the packet a grabbed one and popped it into her mouth.

"No, I mean crisp- chips are fries."

"Oh right, I forgot that. So weird"

"The weirdest one has to be Fanny pack" Arizona said thinking

"Yeah, that one cracks me up all the time, I mean how can it mean something so

different?" Callie laughed as she took another sip of her drink.

"I know right!" Arizona laughed back

"OK I've one, why the heck do you guys add a S on the end of Math?" Callie asked

"Errr why don't you?" Arizona responded

"Errrr because it's wrong that's why!" Callie challenged back with a smile

"Whatever" Arizona laughed "I'm not getting an English lesson from someone who calls a fringe BANGS!"

Callie went to respond, paused and then laughed "fair point, I don't understand that one myself"

Arizona joined in laughing with Callie. She was pleased to see that the American no longer seamed as nervous.

"Wanna game of darts?" Arizona said pointing to the board on the wall

"Sure" Callie said standing up

"I must warn you I am super competitive." Arizona said in a serious tone

"Me too" Callie replied

"No I mean it." Arizona said trying to keep a straight face "I will whop your arse!"

"You mean Fanny right?" Callie responded causing them both to laugh again

"Stop it Torres, I know you are trying to mess with my game plan, it won't work."

"Okay, care to put a wager on this? Callie said with a smile

"What do you have in mind?"

"Hmmm the loser organises date number two!" Callie said before panicking "ummm assuming, you know...that you want a date number two that is?"

Arizona took a deep breath inside she was screaming Hell Yes I want a date two, and three and four. She thought it was cute how Callie had gone from being all confident to suddenly nervous again, and took the opportunity to lean in and plant another kiss on the brunette's plump lips.

Pulling apart after a few seconds she held the Americans gaze "I definitely want a date number two."

Callie smiled back. She was loving all the kisses and was about to lean in kiss the blonde when Arizona spoke

"And I look forward to finding out what you end up planning...when you loose!" Arizona added with a mischievous smile.

"Ha! In your dreams" Callie responded as she grabbed the set of darts and positioned herself to throw.

Fifteen minutes later and Arizona was doing a victory lap around the makeshift pub. Turns out they were both rubbish at darts and they had kept missing the final double needed to win the game until Arizona had flukedly hit the double 1 with her eyes closed.

"Shiiiiit" Callie said as she watched the doctor pump the air in victory before pretending to brush dust off her shoulders. She really did hate losing, but knowing that she got to plan their next date made things a little better.

Arizona checked her watch and then headed to bar and poured them both a glass of wine before announcing it was time for the cinema.

Reaching down to take Callies hand again, Arizona lead them both back down the stairs and into another room in the basement which was a cinema room.

"Wow...you have a popcorn machine!" Callie said excitedly

"Yeap. Now for the million-dollar question. Arizona asked as she headed over to the machine "salt or sweet?"

"Err salt...of course! Callie responded

"Phew!" Arizona smiled "that couldn't have gone so wrong" as she poured them a tub of popcorn and walked over to join Callie on the comfy looking velvet two-seater sofa

"What's on?" Callie said

"Bend it like Beckham" Arizona said smiling at her choice of retro movie.

"Really?" Callie laughed "excellent I loved this film when it came out."

"Me too. Although Jess and Jules totally should have got together at the end of the film rather than Jess and the coach!" Arizona said as she reached over and pressed play on her laptop before adding with a smile "I mean how unprofessional of him!" she joked as she grabbed a handful of popcorn.

As the opening credits ran Arizona confessed a secret

"You know I have a massive crush on David Beckham" Arizona said as she took a sip of wine.

"Really?" Callie asked surprised

"Uh huh. I mean massive, which is weird considering I don't like tattoos and I'm gay!"

"Ha, should I warn Posh Spice?" Callie asked

"Nah, I think she's safe. I just think he was an excellent player and seems like a really nice man, a real family man."

"Is that important to you?" Callie asked "family?"

"Yeah I guess it is. I mean I owe my parents a lot for all that they did when I was younger, I think all footballers do, you know all the driving around to games, standing in the rain, or in your case probably heat"

"You're right. My mum was a soccer mom and at the time you don't really how much they sacrifice so we can kick a football around a field!" Callie added

"What do your mum and dad do?" Arizona asked although she vaguely knew the answer already having read a lot about Calliope Torres online.

"My Dad owns a chain of hotels, mainly in Florida and my mum, well she dedicated her life to being a doating wife and mother. She hated me playing football at the start, but even despite not being that pleased, she still drove me all over the place. I think she was initially disappointed that I wasn't more into dresses and boys and baking, thankfully my sister Aria was, so that took the pressure off me a bit. My dad deep down always wanted a boy so he loved that I was sporty, but he worked a lot, so wasn't around much".

They chatted all the way through the film asking questions from how they got their first big break to their first kisses through to current favourite players and crushes. It frightened Arizona how relaxed she felt around Callie and how easy she found it to open up, something she had previously been excused of being bad at.

"So you know my boy crush, who is yours?" Arizona asked

"Well I didn't watch much tv growing up, but I loved My So Called Life and had a big crush on Jared Leto" Callie admitted

"Oh that's a cool one" Arizona acknowledged Callie's choice

Callie swallowed the lump that had suddenly formed in her throat "I guess I've always had a thing for blue eyes" She said as she caught Arizona's gaze and smiled as she saw the blonde's eyes twinkle as a smile formed on her face.

"Oh is that right?" Arizona asked liking the new flirty direction the conversation had taken "I mean I totally get it, they are the superior eye colour" she said before Callie playfully swiped her with a pillow.

Arizona laughed as she put her hands in front of her to protect herself from the blows "Not the face!" she laughed "think of the modelling career, us blue eyed babes are in demand" she joked making Callie laugh who then went in for kill with a second pillow.

"arghhhh" Arizona laughed as she felt the pillows bounce off both sides of her head as she reached out and grabbed Callie's arms to stop the barrage.

As both of them took deep breaths, calming their giggles their eyes locked for a split second followed by their lips moments later.

Callie opened her mouth to allow Arizona's tongue entry as she dropped the pillows onto the floor so she could grab the blonde and pull her on top of her. As tongues battled for control Arizona placed her hands either side of Callie to balance and smiled into the kiss as she felt the American move back onto the sofa and pull her further onto of her. Arizona let out a groan as she felt the brunette's body beneath her and intensified the kiss even more.

"Arizona" Callie whispered when they finally broke for air as the blonde moved her attention to the Latina's neck. Arizona had promised herself she would behave, but she couldn't resist the electricity she was feeling right now kissing this beautiful woman.

"You're so fucking hot" Arizona whispered in Callie's ear causing the Latina's hairs to stand on end, as she moved her mouth back up to Callie's who playfully grabbed the physios bottom lip between hers. Arizona's eyes shot open and she was quickly drowning in those huge brown orbits which seemed to be getting darker by the second. Releasing the lip with a plop, Callie held Arizona's gaze as she seductively ran her tongue over her lips which were tingling following the welcomed assault.

Arizona was struggling to control herself as she felt a strong throb between her legs. As if sensing this Callie raised her right leg between Arizona's causing another groan to escape from the blondes mouth as she felt the invitation to take things a little further. And there was Arizona being worried about not rushing Callie, the American was definitely making is hard for the Brit to resist the temptation.

Arizona was still staring into those brown eyes as she gave in and raising her hips up before slowly sliding down Callie's firm thigh getting the contact she needed in the place she needed it the most. When she reached the based of Callie's long thigh she thrusted hard causing Callie's head to tip back and the American take a sharp intake of breath as Arizona's pelvic bone hit the brunette's own throbbing mound.

"Oh god!" Callie whispered as she felt a huge throb between her legs and a rush of warm liquid flow out of her, any nerves were long forgotten as her desire for Arizona took over.

Just as Arizona lifted her hips to repeat the move the door buzzer burst into life.

"FUCK!" Arizona groaned as she rested her forehead against Callie's.

"Leave it!" Callie pleaded as she ran her hand up the blondes back into those curls as she pulled Arizona's mouth down onto hers.

The buzzer went again and Arizona pulled her lips away from the brunette's "It's dinner" She said as she stood up and quickly ran a hand through her hair before rushing out of the room.

Callie grabbed one of the pillows from the floor, held it to her face and let out a loud frustrated groan into it.

What did you think? I put way too much effort into thinking about this fictional date and what Arizona could do in a lockdown! I think I'd have liked it if someone had organised that for me. Sorry if it was too long, and sorry for the tease at the end, I just could see an natural place to end it, and I wanted there to be some fun exchanges between our two favs.

As ever, thank you for sticking with the story and for taking the time to leave a review. Special thanks to the guest who recently reread the story and posted a review, you provided the motivation I needed to finish this chapter.

Take care everyone I for those of you in the States, I hope this weeks events go by smoothly and all of our 2021 turn out better than 2020!
