Blonde Ambitioun
She is in his office again, no doubt giving him a headache.
When I walked past, she was sitting across from him as he spoke. I could tell she wasn't listening. She should have been. She should have been writing whatever he said down so that she wouldn't forget it. Michael never called anyone into his office for just random conversation. He never wasted words. Yet here she was, blowing her blonde bangs up in the air like she was sitting in on a parent lecture. Everyone else seems to like her, everyone but me and of course Operations. He can't stand her, and I think I know why. Same reason he didn't like me much either, but I don't think I'm anything like *her*. I watched her from the moment she set foot in Section, watched the way she moved around the floor, big blue eyes studying everything. She wasn't much older than me when they picked her up. They said she had killed a cop in cold blood.
I don't know that I believe that.
She looked to me like she couldn't hurt a butterfly, much less stab someone. Maybe the cop was an idiot and just ran into her. The blade just happened to be there. She was arrested almost immediately after the murder, so it couldn't have been anything premeditated.
Michael put his hands on his hips, pushing back the sides of his dress jacket and displaying his lovely waistline. If she wasn't going to pay attention to what he was saying, she could at least appreciate the vessel from which wisdom was pouring. She seems like she just doesn't want to be here at all, even though if she wasn't here, she'd be dead. I mean, I know I sometimes get a little under the skin, but that's only because management around here seems to think I'm not Alpha Team material when I *know* that I am. If they would only put me where I belong…
It isn't fair...
She gets to be directly in his charge all because Madeline assigned it that way. While the rest of us fight and claw to get to be considered to be on the Alpha Team, all this blonde bimbo has to do is bat her pretty blue eyes and, Presto! She's right under Michael…
I heard her first time out, she didn't do so well. She got the mission done, but...She didn't do what she was supposed to do. She didn't pull the trigger. There was some fumbling around with management concerning what to do with her. She was supposed to be put on abeyance, as was customary for any grunt that didn't perform to standards. By some miracle, Madeline didn't chop off her head. Someone said that Michael stuck his neck out for her and saved her life, gave her one more chance to get it right.
It was the first.
Everyone knew that it was not a good idea to ever put yourself out on the line for anyone else's sake. If they failed, not only did they get canceled, but you were also sent to the gallows to swing for the fatal error in judgment. To know that Michael was willing to risk himself to ensure that Nikita would not get canceled, said more in his complete confidence in her potential than it did in her utter lack of competence during her mission. I agreed that he should be angry, that he should yell at her, that he should have simply pulled the trigger himself and blown her cute ditsy ponytails right off her shoulders.
But he didn't.
Instead, he coached her through her final trial and managed to skate out of a bad capture situation with the team all accounted for, the bad guys took down, and his own life saved by the very person he was not certain he could trust to pull the trigger when necessary. Had it been me, he would not have had that doubt. I would have killed anyone that thought to raise a thought against him. I would not have failed him in the slightest. He would have known without question that I would have his back...Always.
Doesn't matter, I guess.
It will have to be another six months before I get my next review and a chance to change teams again. Until then, I will have to keep training and keep improving my scores so that the next time Madeline calls me into her office for a review, I will be ready. She won't have any choice but to put me with the right team and the right mentor.
